Once again, the next day, Goldie was sitting on the couch, watching the news for any more signs of her siblings. She listened on, rapt by what the news anchor was saying.
"No Sirens are found dead today. S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives along with the Falcon and Scarlet Witch took down a branch of the uprising HYDRA organization."
"Goldie, watching it won't make you feel better," Sharon advised.
She frowned. "Waiting for siblings."
"Steve Rogers, more known as Captain America, has - "
"Again, it won't make you feel better." She walked over and turned off the television. "Tell me about your siblings."
"Miss them," answered Goldie.
"Did you guys have nicknames for each other? My dad called me ladybug. When I grew older, he would say "Young ladybug.' It's a human thing," she clarified with a chuckle, sitting on the couch next to her.
Goldie nodded, absolutely not understanding but pretending to know exactly what she was talking about.
"It's cute you pretend to know things," Sharon commented.
Goldie clicked her tongue one, tsked, and softly hissed.
"Is that a word?" Sharon asked.
"Nickname," said Goldie.
"I won't ask for a translation because you probably don't know," guessed Sharon.
Goldie tilted her head to the side, eyeing Sharon curiously. "Nickname?" She pointed to herself.
"You want me to give you a nickname? How about goldfish?"
She wrinkled her nose in thought before nodding enthusiastically, practically purring against Sharon's shoulder. She nestled against her until she pushed Sharon onto her back.
"Woah, Goldie, you don't know what personal space is, huh?"
"Nickname," she responded.
Sharon sighed, a soft smile on her face. "Goldfish. You know, I never would have thought I'd be getting close to a client, but you're not so bad. It's not exactly ethical, but it's not against the rules."
Goldie listened to her babble on, but she found comfort in her voice. Sharon had never been cold to Goldie, but she was distant and wary in the beginning of their relationship together. Goldie felt satisfied at how Sharon was now comfortable with her. She could feel it.
"I like you," murmured Goldie.
"You used I this time," murmured Sharon. "I'm proud of you."
Goldie purred, and she knew Sharon appreciated her. She needed something to ease her pain besides her siblings. She wanted her family back, and Sharon was included in that.
