They had moved into the S.H.I.E.L.D. compound since it was clear HYDRA and the Mutants of Evil wanted the Sirens very badly. Because of the ambush that day, S.H.I.E.L.D. was able to interrogate the surviving agents and coax information about a HYDRA base in the area.
The days seemed to blend together and it was unclear to the Siren species if they were dreaming a nightmare or living their reality.
While Airis wasn't sure if she was awake or asleep to face the fact that her parents were truly dead and many others wanted to capture her kind, she found herself smiling at Goldie's relationship with Sharon.
The two were inseparable to an extent. It was more of Goldie following Sharon around like a lovesick puppy, but she didn't mind.
When she was interested in Steve, he was the opposite of a lovesick puppy. He marched to the beat of his own drum, which was expected of a former soldier.
Goldie was more submissive and meek but had a streak for sticking her nose into people's business because she was naturally curious.
Goldie took to finding flowers in the gardens to give her or offering her a piece of candy that Bruce Banner gave to her earlier that day.
She came to Sharon like a fleeting dream that she welcomed into her life. She had never been with a woman before, but it didn't disgust her. She only recently learned Goldie was courting her, and there was a lingering thought in the back of Sharon's mind that one day, she would wake up and everything was a blissful dream.
Everyone was looking for their version of Heaven in a world ruled by the Demons of Hell - metaphorically since Demons were just one of the many species on earth.
Sharon knew the taste of freedom since the day she was born. Her parents had doted on her and loved her. Even her career as a secret agent gave her a taste of freedom, but it was different - more simple - with Goldie because she was always smiling and eager to please Sharon.
She would gaze at the moon, transfixed by its beauty, then remember she had an absolute goddess - who was getting better at speaking English - in the room behind her. She would walk back into the room with a soft smile and then offer to read a story to her goddess for the night. And eventually, they did finish The Little Mermaid.
