Day 11: Time
My heart was cracked and broken,
Bleeding with pain and sorrow,
So I opened up google,
And typed
"How to fix what's broken"
The first thing I saw was duct tape,
So I crept to my fathers garage,
Rummaged around,
And found a roll of grey tape.
I took the tape to my room,
Where I cut careful pieces,
And stuck them onto the cracks in my heart,
Carefully, until I was satisfied.
But the next day, I felt a pang in my chest.
When I took a look,
I saw that the tape had frayed
And detached,
Leaving my heart cracked and broken,
Bleeding with pain and sorrow
So I opened up google,
And typed
"How to fix what's broken"
The second thing I saw was stitches,
So I went to my mothers room,
Rummaged around,
And stole a needle and thread.
I took them to my room,
And brought out my heart
Then I carefully poked it
With my needle,
Sewing bridges between the cracks
But the next day, I felt a stab in my chest
And when I took a look,
I saw that the thread had snapped,
And the knots untied.
Leaving my heart broken once again,
bleeding with pain and sorrow
So I opened up google
And typed
"How to fix what's broken"
The third thing I saw was staples,
So I walked to my brothers desk,
Rummaged around,
And borrowed a stapler gun.
I took the stapler to my room,
And pried out my heart.
I pressed careful staples
Across each crack,
And looked at the rows of metal lines.
But the next day I felt a pain in my chest
And when I took a look
I saw that the staples had disappeared,
Leaving my heart broken once again.
Bleeding with pain and sorrow.
So I reached down inside my heart
And rummaged around.
The staples were gone,
But I felt something else.
When I pulled it out, it was a clock,
Its hands sitting motionless, time at a standstill.
So I wound up the clock.,
And put it back in my heart.
The next day, I felt no pain in my chest,
So I took out my heart,
And saw it was fixed,
And when I pressed my heart against my ear,
I heard the faint tick
Of time moving on.
