  OCTOBER 31ST .... HALLOWEEN.

A holiday that hardly anyone knew the true meaning of. People nowadays saw it as a chance to dress up in costumes and collect enough sweets to last them for the rest of their lives .. or an excuse to go to a party and drink alcohol.

Not many know that it was a day used to prepare for All Saints day in which the saints of the church that are believed to have passed on to heaven are honoured and celebrated whether they are known or unknown. The celebration then carried on into the second day of November with The Day of The Dead — something I'd always been curious about. A day where religions celebrated and remembered their loved ones who have passed away and progressed on to heaven.

Like I said, not many people know the true origin of Halloween.

Following Mischief Day — which had turned out to be a complete and total mess — I just wanted to have a normal day. I wasn't even bothered about celebrating Halloween, I was ready to settle for a takeaway and a night on the sofa with Stiles watching horror movies but of course the world had other plans for me.

Call me a party pooper but I was tired.

Plus, the power was still out across town and it was guaranteed to remain out until tomorrow afternoon at the latest so movie night was out of the window entirely. We still had to come to school though which sucked entirely.

When we left the Sheriffs station at just past 11 last night I was expecting to be going straight to bed, not to Derek's loft to hear about his and Peter's eventful week. I was half asleep listening to them both explain it to me so I hadn't even processed it properly — all I knew was the basics, some Mexicans, Peter losing a finger and Derek sewing it back on and that girl who saved Isaac's life breaking them out of wherever they were .. I don't know. It was confusing and I was tired.

I was still tired now, if not more than last night, surviving on four hours worth of sleep. I'd functioned on less in the past but my body just was not cooperating with me today. I was having a hard enough time concentrating on what Danny was saying to me as we walked down the corridor after biology as he told me about his last minute search for bucket load of backup generators so he could host his black out party he'd been planning for months.

I sighed as I dropped my head back, "I mean it is a black-out party Danny, why don't you just get a few flashlights, light a few candles?"

"Well, that's the thing." Danny said to me then, "I was just about to tell you that Aiden knows a place I can have the party that has it's own backup generator within the building."

I looked at him incredulously, "Why didn't you start with that? You could've saved me ten minutes of listening to you whining on."

He rolled his eyes, "You're a horrible friend you know Alex." He said to me, "You're never nice to me anymore."

"I'm sleep deprived Danny." I mumbled, "You know I don't mean it." I looked at him then and flashed him a tired grin.

"Well we can stop by the store and grab some energy drinks before we head to this place."

I glanced at him then, "We?"

"Oh yeah." He nodded, "I need your help. It's two o'clock and this party starts in less than five hours. I haven't even seen the place."

"Fine." I nodded, "But you owe me."

He grinned charmingly, a grin that would have boys falling at his feet, "How about a bottle of vodka to go with those energy drinks."

I couldn't get drunk but I was impartial to a good vodka red bull. I liked the taste of it and even though it didn't get me drunk it did give me somewhat of a buzz that I adored the feeling of. I looked to my friend as he continued to grin at me — knowing fine well he'd hit the nail on the head and slowly he ticed a smile of my own to form on my lips, "Can't say no to that I guess."

"That's why I offered it." He responded leaving me to shake my head before I glanced down the hall to see Ethan and Aiden waiting by Danny's locker. I guessed that we were skipping last period — not like it bothered me, it was only Spanish and I didn't like my Spanish teacher anyways. What did bother me though was Aiden and his weird attitude towards me but if he was going to act strange with me I'd simply ignore him.

When we reached the twins Ethan smiled at me and I reciprocated his gesture as the four of us stood in a small circle, "Ready?" Aiden said to Danny.

"Yeah .. but we've got a make a few stops first." Danny responded as he slung his arm around my shoulder, "I managed to enlist the help of Alex but unfortunately it's come at a price in the form of energy drinks and vodka."

"And." I added, "A trip to Stiles' house so that I can find something to wear."

"Deal." Danny nodded before he looked to the twins, "Let's go then."

Looking at the two of them I noticed a foreign look on both of their faces and it rattled me somewhat. I couldn't smell any type of emotion emitting from them and I wanted to question them on it but I decided against it — especially in front of Danny. I didn't want to make anything awkward if we were going to be setting up this mysterious location together, I'd simply pull Ethan to the side and ask him about it.

So I ignored it for now and I walked with Danny over to his car seeing as though Stiles had brought me to school this morning. The twins followed us on their motorbikes as we headed to the store first before calling in at Stiles' house. I'd dropped him a text to let him know where I'd disappeared to but I didn't receive a response from him until close to four thirty in which he reminded me he'd started his week long detention stint with Coach and that the was calling by the station to see his dad.

I didn't respond to him as I was still at that point trying to pull together an outfit that would match the blackout slash neon theme of Danny's party. I had nothing neon coloured which made it ten times harder and when Danny pulled out the now dry cleaned white bandeau dress I'd worn the night I'd gotten shot I shuddered and tossed it across the room on to Stiles bed. That was a definite no go — dry cleaned or not I'd never wear that again. Eventually we had to give in, it was getting dark outside — the dark nights coming in to torture us — and all we'd found was a pair of denim shorts.

I remembered that I had a stash of clothes still at the loft and suggested making a short pit stop there to see if I had anything I could pair with the shorts and white converse I'd found. Danny didn't seem bothered by the additional stop but he suggested that we went to see wherever the twins had found first which didn't bother me.

It was our turn to follow them this time but I recognised every single turn we made. I knew exactly where this place Aiden had in mind was and I knew why they both looked so weird at school. They were being sheepish because they knew they'd offered up Derek's loft and technically my place of residence for Danny's blackout party. I didn't say a word to my friend though, I kept quiet on the manner until we pulled up outside of Derek's building.

The two of us got out of the car while the twins climbed off their bikes and Danny looked at the building, "Nice." He nodded, "At least we won't get busted by the cops out here."

"My thought exactly." Aiden responded.

"Which floor is it?"

"Sixth." Ethan responded.

Danny looked to them both, "And the other people living in here won't mind?"

I pressed my lips together to keep myself quiet. No one else lived in this building. It was Derek's — he owned it. How he could afford it I'd probably never find out but I never cared to ask. I always guessed that the Hales were wealthy, why else would they own a strip of private land in the outskirts of the preserve?

Aiden shook his head at Danny as he lied through his back teeth whilst smiling, "Nope."

"All right." Danny nodded whilst smiling, "Let's check it out."

Aiden nodded and the two of them opened up Danny's trunk, grabbing both the spare generator and a few of the neon lights we'd brought with us. Aiden carried the generator while Danny grabbed the lights and they carried them up between them though if Danny liked the place we'd have plenty more trips to do.

While he followed Aiden I grabbed Ethans arm and forced him to hang back, waiting until Danny was out of ears shot before I glared at Ethan, "Seriously?" I growled quietly.

Ethan held his hands up in surrender, "It was Aiden's idea, not mine."

"Please don't tell me this is some kind of ploy to get yourselves into Scott's good book." I said to him but when he didn't respond I groaned in despair while dropping my head back.

"Look, we're just trying to help out a friend." He defended.

"You do know that Derek doesn't like you as it is." I reminded him, "When he finds out you offered up his apartment for a party he's going to kill you both."

Ethan smiled sheepishly at me and I understood what he wanted immediately.

"You want me to tell Derek it was my idea, don't you?"

He tried to plead with me, "Please?"

I shook my head, "Stop pulling that face. You look weird." I said to him before I turned around and walked over towards the building, catching up with Danny and Aiden.

"Is that a yes?" I heard Ethan call after me but I ignored him and headed up to the sixth floor, watching as Aiden pulled the wooden latch door open and standing aside for Danny to go in first.

My friends eyes widened in surprise as he looked around and slowly walked down the three steps into the loft. He turned around to face the twins and I and a grin spread on his face, "This place is perfect."

"Yeah." He nodded as we walked into the loft further. Aiden put the neon lamp on to the wall while Ethan went outside and tried to power up the generator we'd fetched. I perched on the edge of the table, holding a flashlight in my hands as Danny looked around further.

"So where did you say the guy was who lives here?" Danny asked as he looked at Aiden.

"He's out of town." Aiden lied with a small smile.

I heard the generator revving outside then and I looked out the window as Ethan straightened up on the balcony and gave us a thumbs up. Aiden walked over to the lamp he'd attached to one of the pillars and flicked it on, a purple luminescent glow emitting from it, forcing the white strips of Danny's t-shirt to glow.

My friend grinned as he glanced around, "Oh, yeah." He nodded, "This place is great."

He and Aiden both turned to me for my opinion and I clicked my tongue off the roof of my mouth. As much as I knew Derek would flip if he retuned home to find a massive party filled with underage teenagers getting absurdly drunk I had to admit .. I was a little excited to see how we could pull this off.

I nodded, "Yeah." I said after a while, "I'm actually excited." I said to Danny and watched as his smile turned into a grin before I looked at Aiden — though I was surprised to see him already looking at me.

_____________________

I didn't think we'd pull it off in the short amount of time that we had but somehow we did. Really, all we had to do was set up the generators and the neon lamps. Danny had organised a DJ, a body painter, bartenders — you name it, he had it and it was a matter of texting them a different address. We'd transformed the loft into something unrecognisable and while the party got started I headed upstairs to change quickly. Like I'd expected, I'd found a white bandeau top to pair with my shorts so that way at least some part of my clothing would glow under the intense luminescent lamps.

I left my hair down — a decision I was quickly coming to regret as I sweated intensely amongst the sea of neon painted bodies that crowded the floor of Derek's loft. I'd lost Danny and the twins some time ago and had since started to work my way through the bottle of vodka Danny had somehow manage to get for me. I couldn't get drunk but the alcohol made my body buzz with excitement and paired with the loud, thudding music and the beat that pulsated throughout my body I'd managed to create my own form of intoxication.

Every bare part of my body had been painted with an array of neon colours — the designs picked by Danny but I didn't stand out, I blended in with everyone else in the crowd as they partied with the same designs, luminescent clothing, accessories and wigs. The party was amazing and it was exactly the pickup that I needed. It was the excuse to let go of my recent stress that I'd been searching for.

I had texted Scott and Stiles to let them know Danny's party was now being held at the loft but I hadn't heard anything back from either of them. I had a feeling they were up to something but honestly I didn't want to know about it. I wanted to step outside of the world of the supernatural and law breaking tonight and if that meant playing ignorance I didn't mind.

I was in my own world and it was nice.

Though, I did need ice. My drink had slowly become warm and warm vodka never tasted nice. I managed to steal the last remaining blocks of ice from the bartender for my drink and at the same time I got her to top me up with a slither of coke. I thanked her with a smile, shouting over the music so she could hear me and I left the makeshift bar to head back into the party.

I squeezed through the bodies with no particular destination in mind until I was pushed back by the crowd. I stumbled into the person behind me though I glared at the idiot showing off who had pushed me in the first place. I turned around to apologise to the person I'd practically trampled on though was surprised when I met Kira's eyes. I recoiled somewhat as a small surprised smile rose to my lips, "Hi. Sorry about that."

"No, no, it's okay." She responded, "And hi."

I continued to smile before I grew distracted by the two boys behind her, "I had a feeling you two would make it at some point." I said to them both.

"Yeah, we just had something to do first." Scott responded while Stiles remained succumbed to silence beside him.

I nodded before looking to my boyfriend, enjoying his wide eyes and expression of total shock. I noticed his car keys in his hand, his fingers wrapped around a silver key but after a minute of composing himself he pocketed his keys and barely glanced at Scott, "Scrap that, Scott." He said to his friend, "I'm all right with staying."

Stiles practically lunged for me and I grinned at him as he grabbed my hand and dragged me through the sea of bodies and into the heart of the party. He glanced back at me as we walked and I admired the view of him from that particular angle. The lights flashing shaped his face against the dark and I became enthralled with his eyes.

He guided us until he was happy with our spot and when he stopped walking he turned around and wrapped his arms around my waist, barely giving me a second to gather myself before he kissed me.

I wove my hand around his neck, holding to my cup still as I ran my fingers through the hair on the nape of his neck. I couldn't hold his intense kiss for long before I grinned, forcing us apart. I leaned my forehead against his as I opened my eyes and looked to meet his through my lashes, "Hi, Stiles."

"Hey." He responded slightly breathless — his voice was quiet but my heightened hearing picked it up easily.

With a grin still on my face I continued to look into Stiles' eyes while he looked at my lips, "What's got you so wound up?" I wondered.

"I don't know." He responded in something of a sarcastic voice, "My girlfriend is wearing very little clothing and her entire body is painted in luminous colours. Just a bit much for a boy to handle."

"Oh." I responded in amusement, "You like?"

He nodded his head vigorously, "Oh, yes."

I kissed him briefly, capturing his bottom lip between my own as he dipped his head to the side. I pulled away before the kiss deepened and arched my brow slightly, "Everything all right with you and Scott?"

"Yep. Fine." He nodded, trying to lean in again.

I put my hand over his face and pushed his head back, squishing his cheeks between my fingers, "Ah, ah." I said to him, "What were you talking about? Something about leaving?"

"It's nothing that can't be solved tomorrow." He responded, "Just a key that's appeared on my key chain, I'll figure out where it came from later."

I nodded and brought my drink to my lips again, sipping the liquor as Stiles watched me with an arched brow. I swallowed what was in my mouth as he looked at me curiously, a crease forming between his brows as he furrowed them, "What is that?"

"90 percent Vodka, 10 percent coke." I responded, "You want some?"

He shook his head, "As appealing as it sounds." He said to me sarcastically, "I'm driving."

I shrugged, "Leave the Jeep here tonight. There's an empty bed upstairs, we can crash in that." I said to him, "Just let loose tonight Stiles. I am .. we deserve it after all the shit we've been through."

"You can't get drunk." He responded.

"I know." I nodded, "But I can create my own form of intoxication and alcohol helps me to do that."

His brows furrowed again as he looked at me skeptically, "You create your own intoxication? How do you do that?"

"The alcohol still gives me that buzz. My metabolism just absorbs the ethanol too quickly for me to actually get drunk." I said to him, "Though I bet if I really tried I could manage to get a little tipsy."

"Might take you more than one bottle of vodka."

I rose my brows in agreement, "Absolutely."

He narrowed his eyes marginally, "You're thinking about it aren't you."

I nodded while I grinned before I said again, "Absolutely."

He shook his head while he smiled at me, his eyes holding mine and not breaking contact. A moment was shared and butterflies swam in my stomach. Stiles' smile was so simple, it was faint but it was one that depicted awe and love and for that reason it was one that made me dizzy. I was so in love with him it was just unbelievable and it was only the rare moments like these that we shared did I realise it. I didn't appreciate him enough.

He gently brought his hand to my face and he cupped my cheek, threading his fingers into my hair while he continued to look at me. It appeared as if he was trying to say something but the smile on his face prevented him from doing so.

"What?" I asked him curiously.

"Nothing." He shook his head before he paused. The distance between us slowly began to close and I cast my eyes fleetingly to his lips before meeting his gaze again, "It's nothing."

He leaned in and pressed his warm lips against mine intensely, robbing me of my breath. In my mind Stiles and I were the only two standing in the room however the feeling of claustrophobia caused by the hundreds of sweaty bodies around me forbade me to delve too deeply into my own world.

Stiles tightened his grip in my hair slightly as his lips pressed against mine firmly, sucking my lip and nibbling my tissue ever so slightly. He knew just what to do, how to do it and when to do it and he shocked me every single time without fail. He never seemed like the type who knew how to kiss a girl and while he was a good kisser before, he was even better now. I felt as if I was floating on a cloud, this euphoric sensation drove me wild. It made me feel high and it was caused by Stiles' lips. It was like he was my own personal drug — my overdose of dopamine.

When I thought he was going to kiss me again he surprised me by leaning his forehead against my own, his hot and heavy breaths fanning across my face. I kept my gaze on his lips whilst he remained quiet, catching his breath and untangling his hand from my hair.

"God, Stiles." I mumbled quietly though I knew he heard me. His lips twitched, curving slightly into a grin as he lifted his head and looked at me, forcing me to peel my gaze from his lips to his eyes. I had no doubt my gaze was ablaze — a true reflection on how my body was feeling.

"I'm gonna grab a drink." He said to me, "Crashing here sounds like a perfect plan."

I grinned in response whilst reading his expression. While his smile appeared wholesome, meaning one thing, his words and his eyes meant something entirely different.

I only nodded in response as he parted from me slowly and disappeared into the sea of bodies to head towards the bar. I closed my eyes and tuned into the music harbouring my senses and refusing to let go of them. Stiles had pushed me into my own world of bliss and I was trapped inside of it — a willing victim, desperate to stay. He was intoxicating and I wanted to devour every single part of him.

I lifted my cup to my mouth again to take another drink but this time a frown formed on my face when nothing poured into my mouth. I opened my eyes to a new reality — feeling like I'd just been pulled out of a different world — and looked around for one person in particular who was nowhere to be seen. My frown deepened as I began to force myself out of the depths of the crowd, squeezing through the tightest spaces possible to try and get to the edges of the loft though it proved difficult. I felt completely disoriented and so when a large hand grasped my upper arm I turned around quickly in hopes of it being Stiles.

Though he wasn't the one I was faced with.

"Aiden?"

He stepped closer towards me and I noticed that he was shirtless with a swirled neon pattern painted across his board and muscular chest. The space between us was almost nothing and he dipped his head somewhat to meet my gaze where he said, "I need to talk to you."

I nodded somewhat bitterly, "Right. Now you want to talk after weeks of nothing."

He rolled his eyes, "Alex—"

"I don't want to talk to you Aiden." I told him bluntly, "You don't get to pick and chose when you want to talk to me and when you don't. It's not fair." Were my words before I turned away from him to walk away but once again he stopped me. This time he grabbed my wrist in a vice grip — one that would no doubt leave a bruise if I were human — and he pulled me back to him. I dropped my empty cup in shock and put my hand against his chest to stop myself from hitting it.

"Aiden let me go." I snapped, "I'm trying to find Stiles."

"He left." He told me firmly.

My eyes narrowed in disbelief before I scoffed, "Stop lying to me—"

"I'm not lying to you!" He snapped, "I'm being serious, Alex. I saw him at the bar talking to a girl. He had something in his hand and then he just walked out."

"What?" I mumbled. I looked away from him and cast my eyes downward in confusion, "He wouldn't .. why would he leave without saying anything to me?"

Aiden shook his head as he clenched his jaw, "Alex, when are you going to learn that you deserve better?" He asked of me.

Bewildered, my jaw dropped and my eyes narrowed. How dare he? He had no idea what he was talking about. He had no right to start talking to me about my relationship — asking me things like that. It was absurd and I hoped he could see the fury in my eyes.

"Deserve better?" I scoffed, "What the hell are you talking about."

"He's not right for you." Aiden told me, "Every time I see you he's done something to upset or disappoint you. He doesn't treat you right."

"Oh, right." I rolled my eyes, "And treating me right is ignoring me for weeks on end I suppose."

His nostrils flared in anger somewhat as he clenched his jaw, "I needed space."

"What?" I said incredulously before laughing humourlessly, "Space? Why could you possibly need space?"

"I don't want to talk about it."

"Of course you don't." I rolled my eyes, "You need space from me for some unknown reason but you won't tell me why."

"Alex—"

"I don't even care Aiden." I sighed, "Just go away and stay away. If you want 'space' I'm more than happy to give it to you."

I purposefully walked into his shoulder, ensuring I hit him so that his body was forced to move. I wanted him to know how frustrated I was. He told me he needed to talk to me then he wouldn't talk. What was it all about? It was confusing and not to mention incredibly annoying.

This time I'd actually managed to take five or so steps before he intercepted me for a third time and when he stepped in front of me I exhaled heavily in annoyance whilst scowling at him. God knows how many people he'd pushed out of the way to get in front of me.

"Aiden—"

"The reason I needed space from you was because after Ethan and I saved your life I realised that I still had feelings for you .. that I still have feelings for you."

My jaw dropped as I froze, "You — you what?"

He shook his head, "Makes sense now doesn't it?" He asked me, "I couldn't stop thinking about you, about how I wanted to kiss you but I knew that I couldn't so distance was the only way to stop myself from doing something that I'd regret because I knew you'd never forgive me."

With the air now effectively robbed from my lungs I struggled to form a reply. The best I could manage was opening and closing my mouth like a fish emerging for air. I didn't know what to say for the best but I knew silence was no good too. I had to formulate some sort of response, even if it was a pathetic one. I couldn't just stand and stare at him until he walked away.

My mind was swirling — so much so that the music that had consumed me minutes ago was practically non-existent. I couldn't hear a thing and I couldn't concentrate. All I could manage was staring into Aiden's eyes.

"I'm sorry." I apologised after a few more moments then, "Aiden, I — I don't know what to say."

Disappointment clouded his eyes and it made my heart ache. He shrugged his shoulders, "Can't change anything now." He said, "Maybe if you hadn't of moved.."

I swallowed as I nodded and fought hard to formulate a response, "Yeah."

He stepped forwards boldly and like a statue, all I could do was watch him. He didn't stop though until he closed the space between us, his naked chest pressing against mine smearing the paint over my white top. I couldn't move, it was like I'd been paralysed. All I could do was look at him and I lifted my head slightly to meet his electric gaze. His eyes flashed the boldest blue I'd ever seen and they enticed me in despite the true meaning of the colour.

Aiden's hand lifted and it didn't stop until he cupped my cheek and pushed his fingers into my hair slowly — teasingly — and he curled the strands of my hair tightly around his fingers. I gulped in response and my breath hitched when he broke eye contact, his now normal gaze flickering to my lips fleetingly before he looked back at me — his gaze borderline animalistic ... hungry.

"I just want to kiss you again." He mumbled, slowly leaning in towards me, "You see my problem? I can't stop myself."

I nodded faintly, completely and utterly speechless. I didn't even know my name at this point. All I could think about was Aiden when my thought should've been Stiles. Stiles was great. He was a good guy, he was loving, caring — he was everything I needed.

Aiden was the bad boy — he always had been and he always would be. There was no changing that. He wasn't a bad guy though. The thought of him though .. there was just something about it that excited me. Aiden could achieve something Stiles couldn't and I couldn't deny — no matter how much I wanted to for the sake of Stiles and I's relationship — that I was attracted to Aiden. My feelings for him were complicated and deep routed but he was calling for me, and like a dog I just wanted to follow him blindly.

It was almost like he'd put a spell on me and I couldn't break free.

His nose grazed mine and I was aware of how dangerously close he was to my lips. With his hand gripping to my hip I was trapped, especially when he tugged my hair harshly, pulling my head back so much it forced my back to bend — pushing my body further into his.

I was trapped.

Completely and utterly.

I closed my eyes. Not because I was preparing myself to kiss him but because I needed to escape. I needed to compose myself and focus. If I carried on walking down this path I knew wholeheartedly that I'd regret it. I would do something that I'd never forgive myself for and I wasn't prepared to break Stiles' heart. I wouldn't throw our relationship away for this.

Just as I was about to pull away I heard a faint but unrecognisable sound and it reverberated through my brain. It was a strange sound — almost indescribable — and it caused shivers to run down my body.

I stilled in Aiden's arms as my eyes opened and I looked over his shoulder behind the DJ out of the window. My brows furrowed deeply as I stared intensely outside, leaning forward ever so slightly. I thought I was hallucinating - that my brain was too overwhelmed it was playing tricks on me and so I blinked but the unknown figure remained.

It was as dark as an abyss — what my nightmares were truly made of — and the moonlight reflected upon its face revealing a black mask underneath a hood. The humanoid creature had a set of glowing eyes though the luminescent colour wasn't that of a werewolf or any other creature I knew of. The greenish-yellow colour made me feel cold inside, like a tsunami had destroyed every thought and emotion I had the ability to possess.

In fear I blinked again and when I saw that the figure had disappeared I pushed on Aiden's shoulders quite forcefully and barged passed him. I knocked into his shoulder and pushed through the crowd, ignoring his calls as he tried to gain my attention.

And then I heard something that terrified me.

Lydia's scream.

"Oh my god." I muttered quietly in a panic as I pushed people out of the way to get to the door that lead to the back passage way to the patio. The abrupt way Lydia's high pitched wail ended made me panic and I prayed to god that she was all right.

I pushed against the metal door harshly with my shoulder and grabbed the door handle as I swung it open and followed it out on to the patio, my chest heaving erratically as I breathed heavily.

My body grew numb as my heart stilled — pausing the blood flow around my limbs as I saw my friend lying in a heap on the cold ground, "God, Lydia!" I yelled as I rushed to her side, my knees hitting the ground.

I put my hand on her arm and sucked a breath through my teeth, "You're freezing." I mumbled to her as she stared up at the dark sky vacantly. Her entire body trembled as she tried to curl into a ball on her side.

"Lydia?" Aiden's voice echoed then as he ran outside, kneeling down beside me.

Then I heard Danny, "What the hell."

"Lydia!" Aiden called again as he shook her, "What happened? What happened to her?" He repeated as he turned to me.

"I d-don't know!" I stuttered in a panic as I turned to meet his eyes. I knew by looking at him that he knew I wasn't telling him the truth. He knew I'd seen something and I had though I wasn't sure of what it was that I did see but I couldn't tell him in front of Danny. I faintly widened my eyes in a way that conveyed I'd tell him later on.

"She's freezing." Danny said to the both of us, interrupting our silent conversation. He looked to Aiden and I with a concerned expression, "She's practically hypothermic."

"We need to get her inside. Help me." I said to Aiden and watched as he nodded.

I shifted my weight in my knees and stood up as Aiden scooped Lydia up as if she weighed as much as a feather. He picked her up and held her to his chest as Danny and I ran inside knowing he was following. We had to get her somewhere warm and we battled through the gigantic crowd of teenagers that had formulated over the course of the night to find somewhere.

Ahead of me, Danny turned around and as he did I saw a heat vent he was pointing to, "Over here!" Danny yelled, "There's a heating vent."

Aiden lowered her to the ground and the two of us sat with her as he pulled her into an embrace to keep her warm. She still had that same vacant gleam in her eyes as her hands shook — green neon paint now smudged on her face from where her face had been pressed against Aiden's chest.

"I'll try find a blanket." Danny yelled to us over the music and I nodded whilst glancing at him fleetingly before looking back to my best friend.

The music continued to play but by now all it had become was a nuisance and I wanted nothing more than for it to be turned off. I continued to look at Lydia as she shook and sighed, "It would be better if werewolves emitted heat like they do in Twilight." I mumbled whilst glancing at Aiden fleetingly.

He didn't say anything though when my friend stuttered we both looked to her as Aiden frowned, "Lydia?"

"They came out of the dark." She stuttered frightfully.

"They?" Aiden murmured as he looked at me in confusion.

"I knew I'd seen something outside." I murmured, "Like a black figure .. their face was masked."

Aiden's brows pulled together taught while we shared the same glance, dreading if this really was the beginning of another supernatural nightmare.

Suddenly, the music stopped abruptly and I turned my head so quickly I could've snapped my neck as a loud crashing noise thudded through the loft followed. I swallowed deeply when I saw Derek standing in front of the broken DJ decks with a solid expression on his face. He looked at everyone standing in his loft before he shouted loudly, "Get out!"

For a second or two nobody dared move but after the initial shock of the abrupt request to leave everyone began to flee as quickly as they came in. The echo of their footsteps continued on as they pounded down the several flights of stairs like a heard of elephants and as they filtered out Aiden and I helped Lydia to her feet as Danny returned to us.

"I couldn't find a blanket." He said to the three of us.

I shook my head as I watched the teenagers scurry out, "It's fine." I mumbled in response before I saw a dark shadowy figure hiding in the deepest corner of the room. I recognised the figure as the one I'd seen minutes ago outside and I froze in dread as I turned to Aiden, calling his name quietly.

He looked down at me but before I met his eyes I saw a second figure. "Look."

He saw what I had seen and immediately he passed Lydia on to Danny as he continued to stare at the masked figures surrounding us, "Get her out of here."

Danny nodded and as he began to guide Lydia out to safety she murmured, "Find Scott."

As the last remaining people fled Allison, Isaac and Ethan returned from the back room whilst Scott and Kira ran down the spiral stairs leading up to the second floor. I remained close to Aiden as I saw a third figure standing amongst the shadows and like robots — perfectly in sync with one another — they all turned to Aiden and I.

I swallowed deeply and shuffled back a step as my hand curled around Aiden's arm instinctively. He nudged me behind him, barricading me protectively.

"Oh, my god." I muttered.

"Guys." Aiden said then to our friends, "They're all looking at us. Why are they looking at us?"

Before anyone could respond, the masked figures took a uniformed step towards Aiden and I where I noticed two more step out of the shadows. Black smoke emitted from their body, almost as if they were ghosts without a solid human frame and their steps became quicker.

Derek and Scott charged towards the small army and began to fight them and I watched intensely as they moved. It was clear that these .. things .. were apart of the supernatural but what category they belonged to was beyond me. They walked with the shadows — blending into the air — and moved effortlessly. Their strength was one I had never seen before.

Derek and Scott were no match against them all and as Derek tried to snap the neck of one it revived almost instantaneously as black smoke was pulled from the abyss to strengthen it. This was beyond anything any of us had ever seen before. Not only were these creatures inhumanly strong, they also appeared to be immortal.

My jaw dropped as, like Derek, I looked at the being in shock as it revived itself before throwing him into the pillar behind him with one easy swoop.

The being turned back to Aiden and I but as Scott stepped in between us it charged for him and as Scott rolled to the floor to advance from below our mysterious attacker jumped into the air while drawing upon what appeared to be some form of martial arts. Scott made two separate advances with each hand. The first was avoided by a simple lean to the side and the second was done by turning once on the spot — enough to disorientate Scott enough to leave his chest unprotected. The being pounded against his chest and Scott soared through the air before his back his the ground with a painful thud and he continued to skid across the ground until he slammed into the wall near Aiden and I.

With both Derek and Scott now out of action, Issac stepped out from underneath Ethans arm as he supported him and he stepped towards our attacker, elongating his claws threateningly while growling. I watched as the figure turned to face Isaac and with jarred, robotic-like, movements reached into the darkened smoked abyss of its chest and withdrew a sharp sword that emitted the same coloured black smoke as its body did.

It swung the sword around its body and head technically before pointing it towards Isaac and emitting the same chilling sound I heard less than a half hour ago when I'd been with Aiden.

Isaac stepped back, accepting his defeat upon seeing the new threat without even trying and I didn't blame him. What terrified me though was when the army turned towards Aiden and I and with no one else but us to stop them, they began their slow yet horrifically intimidating decent towards us. With each step they took the further Aiden pushed me behind him and the tighter I gripped on to his arm.

My heart pounded and I could feel my pulse drumming erratically through the artery behind my ear.

"Somebody do something." Allison said then as the figures stopped in front of us.

"Aiden—" I muttered as an ice cold yet gloved hand slipped around my upper arm and tore me away from his side. He tried to reach out for me, calling my name but the being grabbed him and restrained him in the same way I was being held.

I didn't dare look at the thing standing in front of me as I tried my hardest to force myself out of the grasp of the two restraining me. Their hands resided on my arms only but their strength was unbelievable. They didn't even jolt as I tried to squirm out of their grasp and as I continued to resist the one in front of me grabbed my head and forced me to look at it.

It wrapped its hand behind my head and forced me to look into its yellow coloured orbs. They weren't even eyes — just small balls of light behind a mask but whatever they were the more I stared the colder I began to feel. I could feel it forcing its way into my mind, searching every memory I owned and cherished and wrecking havoc upon them all. It was overpowering and quickly I began to lose control of my body. My limbs started to grow weak and my head started to fall forwards as darkened blurs began to rob my sight.

My body was numb, my mind was immobile and I was frozen to the core — my body swaying through the air as I began to fall but just before I hit the floor I felt it scratch behind my ear before it stepped to the side and they released me. They let me collapse to the ground as my eyes fluttered while my brain fought for consciousness, depriving me of everything else .. leaving me feeling empty inside.
