08. PUNCH UP

It was early when Steve got the call from Tommy and Carol saying to come to the movie theatre, Emma had fallen asleep on Steve's couch that night post their midnight make out session.

Now they were sitting in Steve's car driving downtown to where the movie theatre was, and when Emma read the sign. She heard herself gasp.

Tommy appeared at the window a big grin on his face, "What do you think!" He called out after Steve rolled down the window, the sign in question read 'All the right moves, starring Nancy the Slut Wheeler.'

Then Steve gets out of the car and whispers something to Tommy before he opens up the car door where I'm sitting and says, "Cmon."

They stand outside for about an hour and now Tommy is spray painting, 'Jonathan Byers is a Perv' as Carol teases him, When suddenly thundering angry footsteps storm down the alley.

They turn and see Nancy Wheeler, a mix of tears and anger. Following close behind was Jonathan who was glaring directly at Steve and Emma. Fuck she was screwed.

Nancy walked up to Steve and punched him right in the face, as Jonathan pulled Emma to the side, "Emma the fuck are you just standing there for?", Jonathan whispered to his sister anger all over his face. Emma didn't dare meet Jonathan's eyes. She had never seen him so mad. Jonathan sighed and looked over at Nancy who was just looking more upset, he pushed his sister away and turned to the other girl.

"C'mon Nancy, let's just leave." Jonathan says, which draws Steve's attention to Jonathan. Steve chuckles to himself.

"You know what, Byers? I'm actually kind of impressed. I always took you for a Queer, but I guess you're just a little screw-up like your father" Steve pauses and says, "Well I mean it really does surprise me; how can one house only have one normal child." Steve smirks and gestures to Emma who was shocked by the last comment.

Then Jonathan's face contorts in anger, and he starts attacking Steve not stopping as Emma and Nancy plead for him to do, as sirens begin to emerge, and two officers jump out of the car. They with a lot of strength pull Jonathan off Steve, and the second he was free. Emma grabbed Steve's hand and they start running faster than Emma has ever before trying to evade one of the officers following closely behind.

They round a corner to where Tommy and Carol have driven the door swung open so Steve and Emma can climb in. The pair slide in as Tommy slams his foot down on the accelerator. Then Emma gets a chance to finally examine Steve who is catching his breath.

"How bad is it?" Steve says with a chuckle leaning his head back all the way, his face is bloody, bruised and broken. Emma laughs at him,

"Want me to be completely honest?" Emma asks smiling as she looks at his face, Steve nods, "Not great." Steve groans as they pull up to a gas station.

"Hi, Just this please." Emma tells the cashier with a small smile placing a packet of frozen peas. The cashier raised an eyebrow at Emma before obliging and accepting the money Emma handed to them.

Emma pushed open the door towards the car, where Steve seemed to be getting annoyed about something Emma was saying, "You know maybe Emma will vanish on you just like Will did or maybe.. she's a queer too!"

Steve's face twisted in anger, and he was pushed by Tommy for retaliating to what Carol said Emma wasn't sure what he said but it seemed to piss Tommy off. As Carol rolled her eyes and turned to Emma, chewing her gum smugly.

"What Byers need him to stand up for you." Emma rolled her eyes and smirked leaning into Carols ear.

"Listen here Carol, I know you think that just because your pretty and popular your invincible. But you're wrong, I know about you and the guy in between fifth period so, how do you think Tommy would find that?" Carol scoffed at Emma rolling her eyes

"What could you even do?" Carol asked, as Emma laughed.

"My Dad.. weird fella, taught his daughter to shoot a gun at 6. See what happens when you keep speaking about my family like that. Because I have nothing left to lose." Carols face twisted in fear as Emma walked away, up to the two arguing boys, "Steve cmon I don't think Mr and Mrs Rude will be bothering us for a long time. Emma grabbed Steve's shirt and dragged him to the car, pushing him towards the drivers seat.

2 HOURS LATER

The night air is cool as Emma sits next to Steve as they drive around, Steve's face etched in thought.

"I want to go to your place, and apologise to Jonathan." Steve said abruptly, Emma turns her head quickly a wild smile on her face.

"Not as rude as I thought Harrington?" Emma smiled but her thoughts felt like they were drifting away. Whatever Steve said next was blurry to her as she held her forehead.

"Emma?" Steve said as Emma felt that cold feeling creep over, then she lost consciousness.

I kinda love the darker side of Emma, from the plot I've written we only seen it fully twice, the 2nd being my favourite. This bit is like a teaser of it!!
