03. STEVE HARRINGTON'S INVITE

Nancy was trying to comfort her best friend as they walked throughout the halls of Hawkins High. Emma Byers had showed up to school tear stains on her face, and Nancy had known what had happened.

Nancy rubbed the girls shoulder a sad smile on her face, "I'm sure he's just wandered off to far, Will is going to be fine." But Emma knew that wasn't true, well her theory was confirmed last night when she had another nightmare.

She could clearly remember it. She had been standing in the other world, looking around for Will until she saw it again. The creature with no face. It was following something, tracking, as if hunting its next victim. It was then she had been woken up to Joyce screaming at the phone yet again.

Her mother had become a bit estranged, ever since the night Will had Vanished. It was almost like she thought that his disappearance was unnatural to. It got worse this morning, when by the chief Will was officially declared missing.

Now her Mom had been off the rockers, even Johnathan and Emma were concerned about what was going on in Joyce's head. To the point where Johnathan had cried talking to Emma. But Emma wasn't a crier. Johnathan is. Joyce is. Will was. Emma always waited until she was with Nancy Wheeler. Her rock.

Then as the arrived at their lockers, Steve Harrington walked up to them smiling his head off. "Hey Ladies, How are you going today?" He winked looking over the moon. Emma shrugged as Nancy nodded which Steve took as a sign to continue.

"So my parents are out of town tonight." It hit Emma like a punch to the stomach what Steve was about to say and she didn't say anything, Because she knew what he was going to ask, and god did it hurt. "And?" Nancy asked confused until Carol butted in, "No parents means we get the house all to ourselves."

Nancy shook her head and laughed protesting that it was a school night, but Steve pushed on, "You can bring your friends?" Clearly he only said that so Nancy would say yes as it want a good look, to be hanging out with the sad girl, who had a missing brother. Emma actually thought Nancy would say no until she heard.

"Sure we will come."

Also why is Emma lowkey that's so true coded,
like "Bet your think she's so cool." The rest is going to make sense in a few chapters 😭😭
