02. MISSING PERSONS CASE

Emma was pale. Freakishly pale. She had been since she woke up from whatever state she had been in. It didn't help that her head wasn't the only thing that was burning, it was her heart.

It had been ever since her best friend Nancy started dating, him. It was a fact anyone who knew Emma was bound to know eventually. Emma had always had a crush on Steve Harrington.

Even Nancy knew it.

So know Emma was stuck playing the wingman for her best friend and her crush, as she walked beside the headstrong girl who had a smile biggest smile on face. Barb walked quickly towards the two girls.

"So did he call?" She asked Nancy with a wide smile as she began to walk alongside the pair.

"I told you it's not like that!" Nancy chuckled back at the ginger haired girl, "Okay, I mean, yes, he likes me, but not like that. We just made out a couple times."

Even Emma rolls her eyes as Barb raises an eyebrow and turns her head to Nancy, "We just made out a couple times." Barb says on a mocking voice, "Nance, seriously, you're gonna be so cool now, it's ridiculous."

"No I'm not." Nancy said knocking into my shoulder trying to get me to defend her.

Well Nancy didn't ACTUALLY know that she still liked Steve. Nancy would never had've said yes. Emma to stop getting pestered about having a crush on 'the king of Hawkins high', had said her crush on him had died 2 weeks before Nancy and Steve got together. Ironic right?

But now Emma finds herself forced to play along. So she did what she always did, she plastered on a fake smile, and told a joke

"You know when your the QUEEN of Hawkins high, you better not leave up in the dust for-"Emma shudders jokingly and continues, "Tommy H or Carol."

Barb nods in agreement hiding a snicker before Nancy laughs,"Oh, that's gross! Okay, I'm telling you, it was a one-time... Two-time thing." Nancy unlocks her locker as they see a note stuck inside that says, 'MEET ME IN THE BATHROOM - STEVE' in his blocky handwriting.

"You were saying!" Barb says as Emma laughs hiding the fact that my heart just sank a tiny bit. As Nancy walks off to the bathroom and Barb and Emma go there seperate ways towards their own lockers.

"WILL!" Johnathan called out. The pair and their mother were out in the woods looking for Will. But deep down Emma knew calling would do nothing.

But she still did, she still aimlessly called out into the woods, thinking maybe just maybe, that by some god forsaken miracle. This would be able to get her little brother back.

1 YEAR AGO

"Will what's wrong," Emma asked her brother, wiping a tear off his face as they sat on her bed. Will shook his head upset then Emma had realised, "it's the bullies... isn't it?"

Will nodded slowly as Emma's heart sunk then she got an idea. She ran over to her desk picked up two hairbrushes and the grabbed a tape for her stereo. The words on the front read, "DANCING QUEEN" Emma smirked sliding in the cassette tape.

As the pop music started Will rolled his eyes and groaned, "Seriously?!" She nods and throw Will a hair brush and as the music starts, Emma begins screaming, and singing into the hair brush.

"You are the Dancing Queen!" Emma sings off-key as Will rolls his eyes and joins his older sister dancing in the small room like no one's watching.

PRESENT DAY

The Byers sat together on their couch going throughout photos of Will, to find one good enough for his wanted poster, something recent that still looked nice.

"Aww look at this one!" Joyce said holding up a photo of Will as Emma smiles and a sniffle could be heard from Johnathan as the twos head turned towards him.

Then Johnathan said, he thought that it was his fault that Will was missing. It wasn't his fault. It was Emma's she knew it was. Then the phone rang. Their Mom stood up and hurried over to the phone.

Something freaked her out.

She screamed out Wills name, until the phone zapped her, and the lights flickered slightly. Then Emma passed out, the last thing she heard was Johnathan screaming her name.
