Chapter 84

Loki woke you with plenty of time to actually get a shower and get dressed properly without having to rely on his magic. For which you were grateful, you hated relying on him. Especially when you had magic of your own, that you just weren't allowed to use at the moment.

You came out of the bathroom wearing a blue dress. You couldn't help smirking at Loki, since you were wearing the dress to see his reaction. The dress wasn't in his colors, so you knew there would be a reaction. "Hey Lokes," you greeted him warmly, daring him to comment about the dress and giving him an expectant look.

Loki noticed the dress and scowled at it. You fought your smirk of glee at teasing him. "Something is missing..." he commented dryly. He saw your smirk, despite your efforts to hide it.

You raised an eyebrow "What's missing?" You asked him far too innocently, enjoying teasing him and making him scowl. It was all in good fun.

"There is something wrong with your dress," Loki informed you as if that were obvious.

You looked down at the dress in question. "What? It's cute," you replied defensive about the dress. It was a very cute dress and went down to your knees, was soft and comfortable and looked great on you.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Except that it was blue

"It is, darling. But there's just one little thing..." Loki said with a smirk of his own. He waved his hand and the dress became a gorgeous dark green. "Ah. That's much better," he said with a much bigger smirk.

You rolled your eyes with a laugh. "You do realize I don't always need to wear your colors, right?" You teased

Loki inclined his head regally. "Of course. Though when we are out, I would prefer you dress in my colors," it was tradition on Asgard for ladies to wear the colors of the man who was courting them. So you understood why there, but not on Midgard. Still, it was his tradition, so you usually didn't argue with him. "Especially around Tom," he added with a hint of vulnerability. He had no reason to be jealous of the Midgardian actor, but you saw his sensitivity and how he wasn't willing to let anything get in the middle of your relationship.

You gave him a sympathetic look. "We're not on Asgard and Tom may be a silly flirt like you, but he's not stupid enough to try to steal me away. Not like that would happen regardless. Silly Noodle. But if it makes you feel better..." you kept your tone light so that he wouldn't worry. You went to him and kissed him softly to reassure him.

"Thank you, darling. Besides, you look ravishing in my colors," he purred seductively in your ear, making goosebumps appear on your skin. You grabbed his tie and pulled him down to kiss him again so you didn't have to stand on your toes to kiss him. Your kisses were quite thorough and when you pulled back, he looked slightly dazed. You still had his tie in your hand. You held him in place for a moment longer, holding him bent as he had been to kiss you. You enjoyed your momentary illusion of control. You kissed him once more softly and gently before you released his tie and straightened it for him.

"Ready to go?" Loki asked as he shook off the last of the daze.

You nodded. "We best go collect the oaf," you said with a sigh. You would have gladly left Thor behind, though you knew he would hate to be left out. You placed your hand on Loki's arm automatically. "Tom said he and Chris are picking us up, so we couldn't leave hammerbrain behind if we wanted to Chris would be devastated if he couldn't hang out with Thor," you reminded him. "And he'd be making sad puppy eyes at us all night," you replied with a laugh at imaging that.

"Too true. Though Tom would probably be laughing with us," Loki agreed.

"Also true," you agreed.

When they make it to the common room Thor was waiting there for you and somehow not looking like a hobo for once. Nat looked over at you as you entered the room. She raised an eyebrow. "Wasn't that dress blue when we bought it?" She asked you.

You sighed heavily and gave her an exasperated look. "Someone took offense at the color," you replied and stuck you tongue out at Loki. He just smirked innocently in reply.

Thor gave Loki a disapproving look. He thought Loki was being too possessive over you. "Bother, it is not tradition on Midgard for a lady to wear her suitor's colors," he reminded Loki.

Loki pouted. "But she looks so good in my colors~" he whined at his brother.

Thor smirked and with a grin stepped forward to bow over your, kissing the ring he had given you for her birthday, the one you would hopefully give to Loki someday. "You do look quite lovely tonight, lady," he said politely, with all the court manners you knew his mother had beaten into him. Well, all the manners plus a goading side-eyed look at his brother.

Loki narrowed his eyes at the display and growled. "Don't test me, brother," he warned overprotectively. You really were going to have to break him of that soon, though you knew part of it was that you were still healing.

"It is polite to compliment a lady on her appearance," Thor reminded Loki, teasing and trying to show his brother that he was being too overprotective of you. Especially since your affections would not stray.

Thor placed another kiss on your ring. You knew that one kiss could be a polite greeting to a lady, though Thor was being too flirtatious, even by Asgard standards. Two was definitely a message and one that you were finding yourself uncomfortable with. You didn't quite get what Thor was up to, but it was upsetting your Loki.

You had just enough distance to end this. Before Thor had figured out that you were moving, you'd spun in an extremely graceful movement. You used a modified ballet move and kicked him hard in the face. He actually fell to the floor, more surprised than actually hurt. You took a step back and straightened her skirt. "Be glad I saved you from getting stabbed. Don't know what you were up to, but it was dumb," you informed Thor. Loki had been about to pummel him until you kicked him in the face.

Instead, Loki was standing back, trying to wrap his mind around the fact that you had kicked his brother in the face. As soon as he did wrap his mind around that fact, he burst into laughter.

"How did she even reach my face with her foot?" Thor protested indignantly as he stood. "She's so... little..." He was dazed and confused by you.

"You'll get more power if you keep your leg tucked in until the end of the spin," was Nat's only comment on the matter. Of course she would only correct your form, not condemn you for your actions.

You looked at Loki. "He was being rude to you... and me?... somehow? You were going to stab him, and Tom would be sad if you got blood on Thor's pretty clothes when we take him out," you explained your actions.

Loki was still laughing. "You are truly one of a kind, dearest," he told you warmly.

You kissed him softly. Loki needed little reassurances to stay happy on a normal day. When his brother was antagonizing him, he needed them even more.

"You don't need to be so possessive of your lady. She isn't going to stray, brother," Thor reminded Loki, kindly.

"Your idiocy did just prove that," Loki replied, wrapping his arm around your waist and pulling you close.

Thor nodded "I did not expect her to kick me in the face, though..." he replied, still impressed about that particular point.

Before the conversation could degrade further and get Thor actually stabbed, you looked up at Loki. "Y-you should probably hide my eyes," you told him softly. "I can't do the illusions right now, and they'll scare the mortals..." your eyes had remained purple when you made the transition to Asgardian and they still glowed after the sun went down.

Loki pouted and looked adorable when he did. "But I love when your eyes glow," he whined, but placed the illusions anyway.

"I know," you said softly, but you were reassured that your eyes didn't weird him out. "But it'll scare the mortals otherwise, and we draw enough attention..."

You had done that right on time as Jarvis announced: "Not-Thor and Not-Loki are in the lobby," he announced. Poor Jarvis still didn't like that the two men looked so similar to Thor and Loki. You had programmed their security clearance to get into the tower, though Jarvis refused to use their actual names. You couldn't help giggling at Jarvis' offended tone. The entire team laughed too.

You said your goodbyes to your friends before your group headed downstairs to greet Loki's and Thor's actor counterparts. You prayed this evening went well. Or at least that Loki didn't get tempted to stab Tom, though Loki seemed to like Tom, he could still be finicky about mortals. So you prayed this went well.
