The Monster, now with stronger bonds to his family, found himself with a task given to him by none other than the Captain and the Knight. The task was to investigate other young heroes who had no guidance.

However, the Monster never expected this quiet night to become the night that would determine the future of earth.

Or that he would have to team up with the one responsible for it's doom.

Monster:

Sitting outside of the hospital was the tired Kate who was still wearing the purple dress that her friend picked out. Not her style, but it was all she had at the moment.

She also had a trauma blanket draped over her shoulders. Not that she needed it.

Nurse: Isn't that the Bishop girl who saved them all?

Doctor: With what? Her daddy's wallet?

Nurse: A throwing star, actually.

Kate lowered her head at the whispers. Of course they wouldn't know that she had training. Hell, he father didn't even know why she suddenly started taking up archery since they moved here.

???: Excuse me. You're that girl from the church, right? Mind if I ask you a couple of questions?

Kate looked up to find a young girl looking at her.

Kate: Who are you?

???: I'm Cassie Lang.

Kate's eyes went wide at the name. She stood up and looked at the younger girl.

Kate: Cassie Lang? As in Scott Lang's daughter?

Cassie shrugged.

Cassie: Yeah, I am. I'm actually looking for the Young Avengers.

Kate: They're not here. They flew off when we left the Cathedral.

Cassie: Did you see which way they went?

Kate nodded and turned towards the general location of the park.

Kate: Toward the park, maybe?

Cassie: So towards the mansion. Got it. Thanks.

Cassie started to walk away but Kate grabbed her shoulder to stop her.

Kate: Wait. Are you...a Young Avenger too?

Cassie smiled.

Cassie: Nope. But I'm going to be.

Kate smiled as well.

Kate: Cool. Let's go.

Sam: Iron Lad is Kang the Conqueror?

Kang: No! Well, not yet. It's hard to explain.

Y/N: Try.

You stood in the destroyed mansion with the Fist Bros and Iron Lad who just revealed that he was some dude named Kang. According to the Avengers' records, Kang was a big deal.

Like, really big.

Kang: I'm supposed to be Kang in the future.

Miles: Is this a Time Travel thing? Cause I hate time travel things.

Sam: It's a Kang thing, so yeah. It involves Time Travel.

Miles: This is why I hate Kang. Well, that and the Conqueror thing. And that mask.

You looked at the others.

Y/N: Iron Fist, Nova, go and find the other YAs. Bring them back here so we can question them.

Sam and Danny smiled before they headed out. Kang just sighed as he sat down on what used to be a chair. He lowered his head and shook it.

Kang: I was visited by my future self. He told me that I would become. I, I don't want to kill. I want to use this armor for good, not conquest. So, I escaped from the future and ended up here. I tried to rally the Avengers to help me for when I showed up to take me back.

Sam: How about we keep you as Iron Lad and Kang as Kang. Makes things easier to follow.

Kang nodded.

Kang: Right, well, Kang is coming. And no one was helping. They just thought I was a kid playing pretend. So, I took matters into my own hands. I activated the Avengers Protocol.

Hulking: You sure I'm not too heavy?

Wiccan: Hulking, you're fine. Besides, I'm finally getting a hang of this flying thing.

Hulking: That's a relief to hear.

The two landed a few blocks from Hulking's apartment. People gave them odd looks but they just went about their business as if nothing was going on.

Wiccan: Do you really think Kang'll show up?

Hulking: I hope not.

Wiccan: You think we're ready if he does?

Hulking shrugged.

Hulking: Do you?

Wiccan shook his head.

Wiccan: We can't afford to lose Patriot.

Hulking: What's he gonna do? Go solo? He's not ready for that. He might be hot headed but he's not going to do something...stupid. Is that him?

Wiccan turned around to see where Hulking was pointing. Coming down the street was a black car driving at high speeds while Patriot hung onto the roof. It sped past the two boys who stood there for a moment.

Wiccan: Huh. Crap.

Wiccan flew off after the car as Hulking chased after it on foot. Overhead, Sam and Danny followed the car.

Danny: We need to help them.

Sam: Oh! Wanna go nuke drop?

Danny grinned as Sam lifted him up a bit and threw him towards the car. Danny charged up his fist and ended up punching the hood of the car which caused it flip over. Danny landed safely while Hulking caught Patriot.

Sam flew down as Danny cracked his knuckles. The two then shook hands while the three Young Avengers looked at them in awe.

Wiccan: Woah. Can we do that? Cause I wanna try that.

Sam and Danny turned to the three vigilantes and crossed their arms. They then looked at the three men crawling out of the wrecked car.

Danny: Who are these men?

Patriot: I caught them dealing MGH over at Central Park.

Sam raised a brow. MGH, also known as Mutany Hormone Growth, was a drug that gave the normal person temporary powers.

Wiccan: So, what do we do with it? Take it to the cops?

Sam: We'll call our contacts. Just give it to us and we'll handle it.

Hulking: Wait, you're Nova! I've seen you work with the Avengers before. And, you're with the Defenders. Iron Fist.

Patriot: Oh, no. Are we in trouble?

Sam shrugged.

Danny: That all depends on how this goes. We're going to need you three to come back with us to the mansion.

Back at the park, Cassie and Kate looked at the locked gate. Through the bars, they could see the ruins of what was once a great hideout for Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Kate: Looks deserted.

Cassie: Yeah, but if these kids are smart enough to rescue a church....

Kate: They aren't.

Cassie: Then they're probably smart enough to not let us know that they're here.

Kate shook the gate slightly before she sighed.

Kate: So, we hopping it?

Cassie: I know the codes.

Kate: Oh, yeah. You lived here, right?

Cassie rubbed her neck.

Cassie: One weekend a month before my mom sued for sole custody. She was never an Avengers fan.

Cassie typed in different codes, all without any effect. Kate hiked up her dress and took a few steps back.

Cassie: None of the codes are responding.

Kate: In that case...

Cassie heard something behind her but her focus was on the keypad.

Cassie: I'll try the emergency codes. If those don't work, then I have no idea how we're going to get...in?

She looked up and found Kate inside of the gate looking around. Kate turned around and smirked.

Kate: Need a boost?

Y/N: So in the future, the Avengers created a protocol in the wake of an unknown event?

Miles: Sounds rough.

Miles stuck to the wall behind you while you talked to Iron Lad about his revolutions.

Iron Lad: Actually, there were a bunch of other names on the list but, well, I couldn't find them.

Miles: Other names?

He turned to you.

Miles: You think he's talking about the Program?

Iron Lad: Wait, the Program? As in the Next Avenger Program? That must mean that you two are Spider-Man...

Miles: You barely figured that out?

Iron Lad: And you're the Monster of Power.

You raised a brow.

Y/N: The Monster of Power? Uh, sorry to tell you, Lad, but I'm just Monster.

Venom: More like the Monssssster of No Game!

Venom appeared on your shoulder and created a tentacle.

Venom: Up high!

No one moved to give him a high five.

Venom: Tough crowd.

You shook your head and turned back to Iron Lad.

Y/N: Okay, so, when is this Kang guy supposed to attack?

Iron Lad: I have no idea. That's why I got desperate.

Great. So much progress was being made. So proud.

Kate and Cassie walked through the courtyard in the dark. However, that dark lit up when the boys returned overhead.

They landed and Patriot walked over to Kate.

Kate: Perfect. This guy again.

Patriot: What are you doing here? Actually, you know what? Get out. You don't belong here.

Danny: Hey, be nice. But, this is private property.

Kate: And this is Ant-Man's daughter.

Sam: Nadia? Wait, no. Who the hell are you?

Patriot: Cassie Lang. Scott Lang's daughter.

Kate: Yeah. And I'm the one who saved your behinds back at the church.

Patriot: No, you did not.

Sam: No, she totally did. We saw the whole thing.

Wiccan: Great. I've never been more embarrassed.

Kate ignored them and placed her hands on Cassie's shoulders.

Kate: You guys need help. Which is why Ant-Girl and I are joining the Young Avengers.

Patriot: Okay, no. Not happening.

Danny just sighed and looked at Sam.

Danny: This is rough.

Sam: Yeah, it is. But we got them here. Mission accomplished.

Patriot: How old are you even?

Cassie: 15.

Danny: How old are you really?

Cassie: 15!......In June.

Sam: Ha! Not the youngest! Eat it!

Everyone looked at him as he celebrated.

Cassie: Look, step aside and at least let me get my dad's old gear. I'll show you what I can really do.

Cassie tried to walk past Patriot, but he stopped her by placing a hand on her shoulder.

Sam: Oh, bad move.

Danny: Oh no.

Patriot: Not happening.

Cassie grabbed his hand and suddenly she grew in size. She then lifted Patriot up like a toy as she smirked.

Cassie: I prefer to do this with more stretchable clothes.

She then dropped him into a bush. Everyone then clapped impressed. Cassie shrunk back to normal size, now with torn clothes, and smiled.

Cassie: Like father like daughter, tights.

Y/N: The hell is going on out here?

Everyone looked towards the mansion to see you walking out with Miles and Iron Lad. You stopped and looked at everyone.

Y/N: There's more?

Kate/Patriot: Yes/No.

The two glared at each other before you sighed.

Y/N: You two, stop whatever this is. Everyone inside.

No one moved.

Y/N: Now!

Everyone flinched at your voice and hurried inside. You noticed Cassie and stopped her.

Y/N: You, need a change of clothes.

Cassie looked at her appearance and blushed a bit.

Cassie: Uh, some of my dad's stuff is upstairs.

You nodded and lead her to the mansion.

Sam: So, uh, wanna go around and introduce yourselves?

Everyone was sitting in the old dining room at the burnt table.

Iron Lad: This is Patriot, Wiccan, and Hulking.

Kate: Ahem.

Iron Lad: And this woman saved us at the church.

Danny: But she isn't a Young Avenger?

Kate: Nope. They have a strict, sexist no girls allowed policy.

Iron Lad: No, we don't.

Wiccan: Trust me, hun, it has nothing to do with your gender. But, we can tell you our real names....

Patriot: No! They're called seceret identities for a reason!

Wiccan: But, these guys are with the Avengers.

Patriot then pointed at Kate.

Patriot: But she's not. She's a civilian.

Kate: A civilian who saved your life.

Patriot marched over to her.

Patriot: When are you going to let that go?

Kate jabbed her finger into his chest.

Kate: When you finally admit it!

Patriot: If I do, will you leave?

Kate: Probably not.

Sam dropped his head.

Sam: Why does Monster get to go and be with the cute girl?

Upstairs, you looked at the broken picture frame of the Avengers while Cassie changed into some of her dad's clothes in the closet.

Y/N: So, how long have you been having these...growth spurts?

Cassie: About two months.

You looked at the photo a bit longer before you placed it back onto the brunt dresser.

Y/N: And why is that?

Cassie: Maybe it's because I used to steal Pym Particles from my dad when I would visit him.

Your eyes went wide. That would mean the same thing that happened to Nadia happened to her. Long exposure to Pym particles.

Cassie: But, uh, thanks for not calling my dad or something.

Y/N: Never met him. Scott, right? I only know Janet and Nadia.

Cassie looked over at you confused.

Cassie: Who's Nadia?

Y/N: Oh, yeah. You probably wouldn't know about her. She's Hank Pym's daughter. She's the new Wasp.

Cassie pulled on the final piece of her uniform and stepped out.

Cassie: So, what do you think?

You turned around and saw her.

Y/N: Not bad. Now, let's go find the others.

Suddenly, the entire building started to shake. You caught Cassie and looked around.

Venom: Uh, big guy in the window.

You looked up and Venom was right. There was a guy right outside.

Y/N: Who the hell is that?

Cassie: That's him. Kang!

Y/N: Crap. Come on!

You grabbed Cassie and rushed downstairs. You made it to the dining room where you found the others.

Y/N: Young Avengers and Kate, get in the vault!

Patriot: What? No way!

Iron Lad: This is what we've been preparing for. What I've been preparing for.

Y/N: This isn't up for debate!

Wiccan: What are you guys going to do?

The vigilantes stood there with determined faces while you stood beside the Fist Bros.

After throwing the others in the vault, you cracked your knuckles and prepared for a fight. Behind you, Patriot banged on the vault door.

Sam: That was way too easy.

Danny: I didn't even break a sweat.

Miles: We can take this guy on, right? Like the four of us?

Y/N: We're going to give it hell. I sent out an alert to Widow. The Avengers are heading back over from the compound.

You all walked out of the mansion and found a man standing there, waiting. You nodded to Danny and Miles who nodded back and headed for the trees. Sam then flew up as you approached Kang.

Y/N: So, you the guy I keep hearing about?

Kang turned around and smiled.

Kang: Ah, Y/N Creed. The Monster of Power. Lovely.

You popped out your claws but Kang held up his hand.

Kang: I'm not here to fight. I'm here for information. Now, tell me, where is the boy?

Patriot: We are so dead.

Patriot paced back and forth while everyone else waited around. Hulking was doing one handed push-ups with Cassie on his back while Wiccan spun his staff around.

Iron Lad: Patriot, we'll be fine.

Wiccan: Iron Lad is right. We're prepared for this. Kinda.

Wiccan stopped and looked at his friend.

Wiccan: We are prepared, right?

Iron Lad: Even if we are not, the Avengers are.

Patriot: Great. The Avengers show up and we get arrested for playing hero. Perfect!

Cassie: Dude, you need to chill.

Eli: Do you guys want your parents to find out that we're the Young Avengers?

Everyone looked at each other for a moment.

Wiccan: Maybe I can short circuit the door!

Hulking: I can try super strength.

Cassie: Maybe I can shrink down and crawl under it then open it on the other side?

Everyone's thought train was interrupted when the vault door suddenly opened up. Standing there, was Kate.

Kate: Yo, Young Dorks. Need a hand?

Y/N: We're not giving you the boy, Kang. Just turn around and go back to whatever time you're from.

Kang sighed and pointed his gun at you.

Kang: Turn him over and I'll spar you.

You just smirked as you placed your hands on your hips.

Y/N: Fist Bros.

All: POOOOOOOOWWWWWEEEEEERRRRRR!

From the tree above Kang, Danny leaped down and delivered a punch to Kang which caused him to stumble back. Then from the other tree, Miles leaped down and shot out a web at the rifle. He pulled it away and fired off more webs at Kang which tied him up.

He then fired a web into the sky where Sam caught it and pulled Kang up. He swung him around and launched him to the ground where he crashed while you caught his rifle.

Y/N: No.....

You aimed the rifle at him.

Y/N: You were saying?

Kang growled as he tried to free himself. Your team gathered around him as he struggled.

Kang: This is pointless.

Sam: I dunno. It's kinda fun to me.

Kang: We're wasting time! If I don't return the Young Kang to his rightful place in time...

Danny: You will cease to exist.

Miles: And he'll never become Kang the Conqueror.

Venom: Literally no downsside.

You smiled before you felt something. A shift in the wind. Then, you smelt smoke.

Kang: You don't understand. The downside is the reality as you know it will cease to exist! If I never became Kang the Conqueror, then the Avengers and I would have never met! History will change!

You looked up and noticed he was right. Because suddenly, every building around you was destroyed.

New York was in ruins.

Miles: Oh, shit.

Sam: Uh, what's happening?

Kang stood up, no longer trapped by webs. Miles went to shot him again, but he sudden noticed that his costume had changed. It was no long the black and red costume he had created. It was torn and had pieces of stray armor on it.

Sam's was torn in a few places and he realized he couldn't see out of one of his eyes. His left eye was completely missing.

Danny himself only had his pants and maks on. On his chest was the Iron Fist logo tattooed onto his skin.

Kang: As long as the boy remains here, your lives and the lives of everyone you hold dear will be altered irrevocably. And not, it would seem, for the better.

You looked at Kang as the city burnt around you.

Inside the mansion, the kids all grabbed whatever gear they could.

Iron Lad: Everyone get ready. If we're going to face Kang, we have to be prepared.

Kate: Then what are we waiting for?

The team turned around and found Kate standing there, now in a uniform.

Hulking: Uh, who are you supposed to be? Hawkeye?

Kate smiled.

Kate: Yes, actually. Oh, and I brought gifts.

She reached behind her and pulled out a sheild before she handed it to Patriot.

Kate: Now let's go kick some butt.

She began to walk out of the room while the others watched her.

Wiccan: Uh, I'm starting to think she's more than meets the eye.

Cassie: You and me both.

They eventually followed the female Hawkeye outside where they found you and your team gathered around Kang.

Y/N: So, if Iron Lad goes back with you...

Kang: Everything will return to normal. And I will leave.

The Young Avengers looked at the ruined world around them in horror.

Iron Lad: Did, did I do this?

Kang heard him and turned around with a smirk.

Kang: There you are.

You turned around to the others.

Y/N: What are you doing here?! You have to go!

Kang: No, he needs to come with me. Otherwise, this present will remain. However, you need not worry about that.

Kang lifted his hand, and so did Iron Lad. He tried to put it down but he found that he couldn't.

Iron Lad: W-What's going on?!

Wiccan: Iron Lad?

Kang moved his hand over so that Iron Lad was aiming right at Wiccan.

Iron Lad: No!

Kang smiled as he fired off a blast that headed right for Wiccan. However, Hulking moved in front of his friend and took the blast which did something unexpected.

Instead of his green skin, he transformed into a normal teen. He was a shiftshafer.

Iron Lad: What did I do.

Kang: What I told you to do. You stole the armor from me, remember? I created it. And now, I control it.

Iron Lad began to shake as you all watched.

Iron Lad: Please! I'm begging of you!

Y/N: Let him go, Kang!

Iron Lad began to scream as his armor began to glow brightly. Kang smiled as he clenched his fist and a bright ball of energy expanded and hit eveeyone around Iron Lad.

When the smoke cleared, everyone laid in the ruins of the mansion, defeated.

Kang: Now, shall we get going?
