Honor Among Theives Arc #2

Strikers: Monster, Cloak, Dagger, Wolverine, Bruiser, Bloodstone

Unaffiliated: Black Cat

Monster:
Strikers

You and Felicia stood across from each other, her staff expanded and your claws ready to attack. You haven't seen her in nearly a year. Someone you used to see everyday. Someone you loved. Someone who you considered family.

And she was your only chance to figure out what was going on.

Felicia: Why are you here? You wouldn't be here unless you were...

Y/N: Looking for you.

Felicia: You told me you let me go. Why did you come back?

You narrowed your eyes at her as you retracted your claws. You instead subtlety brought out your other claws. The ones you inhearted from your second mutation.

Cat: And why do you look like that? You decide to ditch the brush? Your eyes look a bit more wild, too.

Y/N: Enough with the small talk, Felicia. If you really are part of the dark side in this, then I'm not going down without a fight. No amount of history will stop that.

Cat raised a brow confused.

Cat: The dark side? What are you on about?

Y/N: The Thieves Guild. They came and stole very important things from some very important people.

You took a step towards her.

Y/N: And I know that you're still a member.

Cat took a step forward as well.

Cat: So what if I am? I didn't steal anything from your hero friends. But, yeah. The Guild is involved.

At least your suspensions were correct. The Thieves Guild. Or, at least their New York chapter. Cat and you stared at each other for a moment, before Cat collapsed her staff and placed it back on her belt.

Cat: You can relax. We're not gonna hurt you.

Y/N: Like you even can.

Cat smirked a bit before she thought about something. She then had a plan. An idea. One that she couldn't do alone.

Cat: Hey, how about a proposal?

Y/N: A proposal?

Cat nodded.

Cat: I talked to Felicia about it, and we want to help.

This was a surpise. You didn't really know if it was a good one, though.

Y/N: You want to help?

Cat: Yes. Tell you what, we can help you get the stuff back by stealing it. However, in order to do that, we need help breaking into the Thieves Guild again.

Again? Wait a second....were they the one who broke into the Guild during the breakouts? She totally took advantage of the chaos to steal.

But, you could use the help. You used to be a thief, sure, but now you were rusty. Really rusty. And breaking into the Thieves Guild required someone who was not rusty.

Cat held out her hand with a smile.

Cat: Come on, mister. Won't you shake a poor sinner's hand? Or are you too noble to touch a thief?

You gave it some thought. Sure, you could tell the others and they could lead a raid, but how would they do that if their gear was missing? And on top of that, you knew you were on limited time.

So, with no other choice, you shook her hand.

Y/N: When do we start?

Cat: Tonight. I'll find you.

Team Alpha:
Cloak
Dagger
Wolverine
Bruiser
Bloodstone

Team Leader: Wolverine

Laura crossed her arms as she watched the countryside below passed by. Elsa and Tandy were now flying the Quinjet to their mission.

She was surpised that you had already had missions ready, but she was even more surpised that you had made her a leader. Then again, Wanda was the only other leader.

Maybe if Robbie was here, he would be a leader?

Regardless, she was trying to get her mindset to lead the mission. They were heading to a town called Maple Falls. Something strange has been going on and you figured it was worth checking out. Plus, you had received a distress call.

Tandy: Uh, Laura?

Laura turned back to the cockpit and walked to the front. She leaned over Tandy's shoulder and looked down below.

Laura: What is it?

Elsa: Well, that's the problem. We're at Maple Falls.

Laura raised a brow. All she could see is a massive cloud of fog. Or, at least it looked like fog.

She looked closer and noticed that it was actually a blue mist of somekind.

Laura: Please tell me that your boyfriend didn't send us here just to look at fog.

Tandy: The distress call went out before the town dissapered from sight.

Laura nodded.

Laura: Alright. Land it.

Felicia: Daddy! Daddy! Slow down!

Felicia caught up to her father who was walking towards the park. He smiled at his daughter and slowed his walking speed.

Fox: We're almost there, Felicia.

Felicia: Where are we going? Mommy said you were going to miss your flight.

Fox chuckled a bit.

Fox: Just up ahead.

The two entered the park and made their way over to the bridge. There, Fox climbed down into a hidden path. He helped his daughter down and lead her towards a shrine that was hidden just under the bridge.

Felicia looked at the stone offering. It was of a woman who had her eyes blocked by a piece of fabric. Her hands were held out, as if it was asking for something.

Felicia: What is it?

Fox sighed as he set his bag down.

Fox: Your father has made a lot of mistakes, little cat. Done a lot of things that he regrets. But I didn't always have a choice. I...I was a part of something. You'll understand one day. I hope.

He opened his bag as Felicia watched. He then began to pour out expensive looking jewelry and stacks of cash onto the alter.

Felicia: Daddy! What are you doing?!

Fox: What I have to, to keep us safe.

Felicia watched for a moment before she noticed a coin fall onto the ground. She picked it up and looked at it. It was gold. It felt heavy in her hand.

She turned to her father.

Felicia: Can I throw some in?

Fox smiled as he kneeled down to look at his daughter.

Fox: Go ahead. You're going to have a better life than this, Felicia. You're going to be safe and happy. But in the meantime, we give the devil his due.

Cat simply crossed her arms as she stared at the alter. You stood beside her as you watched her go down memory lane. It was now night time.

Cat: The Thieves Guild.

Y/N: They have chapters all over the world. All of them have a different way of doing things. What does this have to do with everyone's stuff going missing?

Cat looked at you. You were getting impatient. She could tell by your voice.

Cat: You know their history.

You nodded.

Y/N: Of course I do. I used to help you pay them.

Cat: Then you know that their influence just keeps wailing. People forgot the old way.

It was true. Much like board games. Kids used to love them, but things have changed to video games and smart phones.

Cat: They're about to make a comeback.

Y/N: By stealing from the heroes?

Cat nodded.

Cat: They have a new leader. She took over shortly after I left the Program. Her name is Odessa Drake. She comes from a family of thieves older than the city itself. But while she was raised with the traditions and lore of the Guild, she grew ambitious.

Cat turned back to the alter.

Cat: They've been taking down their enemies left and right. And collecting debts. But now, she wants to pull off a heist so big that the world will have to take note.

Y/N: And that includes stealing all of our stuff. Damnit.

And the longer you waited, the more things were being taken. Your team had to make do with the backup gear you had, but who knew how long it would be before that was stolen too?

Cat: No one knows how to make a take dissappear faster than the Guild. And luckily, you have someone on the inside.

She turned to you and showed you her wrist. The Guild's mark was tattooed on her skin. She had gotten it a while back, when she first joined. You were offered a place as well, but you declined. It never felt right to.

Cat: And I just so happened to know where the very safe house holding your stuff is. I had recently paid a visit to it.

She pulled her sleeve back down and smirked.

Cat: So, what do you say, Frankie? Wanna help me pull off the biggest heist of the century?
---------------
Laura lead her team through the fog. Elsa held up a device that was scanning the area as they walked through the small town. Tyrone had noticed that the street lights were still on and the shops were seemingly left alone.

Elsa: It seems that the area around the fog is untouched.

Laura: I noticed. So what's in here?

Tandy held up a dagger but her light couldn't even pass through the fog.

Tandy: I don't know. I can't see anything.

Molly: Well, maybe one Hulk sized clap can clear it out.

She began to take a deep breath, but Tyrone grabbed her shoulder.

Tyrone: As much as I would love to see if you could, we don't know if anyone is in there. Plus, what kind of damage you could do to the buildings.

Molly let her breath out as Tyrone flew up.

Tyrone: Allow me. I think I can pull it into my cloak.

Tyrone opened his cloak and took a deep breath. Everyone watched as the blue fog was slowly absorbed into the dark realm. As the town came into view, everyone noticed how oddly quiet everything was. There wasn't a single sign of life anywhere.

Elsa: And cue the grateful populace.

They stood around for a moment before they heard something. Screams. They all looked down the street as a group of people came running towards them.

Elsa: Oh, what the fuck?

They watched as the townsfolk ran past them before they turned back around.

Molly: What are they running from?

Laura: I'm guessing those things.

The team spotted a group of strang looking human like creatures. They had blue skin with ape like features on their faces. Their fur was purple and their eyes were a milky white.

The creatures began to charge at them which forced them to get ready for a fight.

Laura popped out her claws while Tyrone flew up. Molly raised her fists, sad that she didn't have Toxin, while Elsa pulled out her pistols. Tandy created a ring of daggers and took a step back.

Laura: Alright. Can't believe I'm about to say this, but whatever.

She pointed at the creatures.

Laura: STRIKERS, STRIKE!
-----------------
You were crouched down ontop of the tower that was connected to the Guild's safehouse. The entire building was like a castle. You were wearing all black from head to toe. Black boots, black jeans, black jacket, and black mask.

Felicia was dressed in her Black Cat attire, which made you remember just how good it made her look. It just seemed to boost her confidence as well.

Felicia: Do you want us to lead or...

Y/N: Go ahead. This is your world, not mine.

Her eyes shifted.

Cat: It used to be.

Y/N: Key word. Used. Past tense.

You stood up and turned to her.

Y/N: Lead the way.

So she did. And it went well.

The thing about you and Felicia was that you were always a good team. You knew how to watch each other's backs. She had her strengths, like being able to dodge lasers and sneak past the Guild members, while you had yours, like tearing a vault door off of its hinges.

You had to be able to work together. Back when it was just the two of you, you did everything you had to in order to survive. Two kids with no real home besides each other.

No family.

As you snuck around the safehouse, working together with Cat and Felicia again, you found yourself recalling your time with her.

Felicia: Slow down!

Y/N: You gotta keep up!

The way you laughed. The way you cried. When you saw her again after you left, it was like a miracle. When you saved her from the bomb that had been implanted in her neck, you kissed her.

And your heart shattered when you were forced to say goodbye.

You loved her. But that was the past.

Even Felicia and Cat agreed. They loved you. They relied on you. They trusted you in a world where no one could be trusted. You saved them when you freed them from the bomb, sure, but you had saved them before.

When you first met.

When you gave her a family.

When you gave her a reason to live.

Cat: What's wrong, Frankie? Never seen a girl in her underwear before?

Y/N: Please put some clothes on.

When you let them go, they thought they would feel free. They could never see themselves as a hero. But, it didn't end up that way.

They felt lost. Without purpose. So they went back to stealing.

They knew how you lost Venom and how you had suffered without your powers. But then you left to God knows where to do God knows what. And the next time they saw you, it was on the news. You had saved the world from Celestial Beings.

They couldn't help but feel proud. You had achieved your dream and became a hero.

But you were also happy, without them.

It hurt, but they wanted you to be happy. To be successful. So they moved on.

And now, you both stood before the vault where you found every single stolen item. From Sam's helmet to Kamala's bag. You recognized Miles' webshooters and Nadia's necklace.

However, one thing in particular stuck out.

Toxin: Papa!

Cat watched as you quickly made your way over to the glass jar where you found Toxin being kept.

Y/N: Tox! Hang on.

You opened the jar and reached inside. He climbed onto you and bonded with you before he appeared on your shoulder.

Toxin: You found me!

You smiled as you rubbed his head.

Y/N: Of course I did. I would never leave you behind.

Cat watched you interact with the symbiote confused. Venom was gone, so who was this? However, you didn't care to explain.

You looked around the vault at all of the stuff being kept. So many things that the heroes needed to save lives. Important things. From the darkness also came Tippy Toe and Monkey Joe. Doreen's pet squirrels.

Y/N: Hey, guys. I'll get you back to your mom soon. First, we need to figure out some kind of way to return all of this stuff. Maybe we can bring it back to the tower?

Cat slowly lowered her head before she looked around.

Cat: Half.

You turned back to her.

Y/N: What?

Cat turned back around to look at you.

Cat: You said "all of this stuff." And, hey, if you're feeling charitable about your cut, then by all means. But half of this job is mine.

You raised a brow as Cat went back to picking through the pile of stuff.

Y/N: You....tell me you're joking. Tell me you seriously don't think you can just take half of this stuff.

Cat looked at you from over her shoulder. Her eyes then shifted.

Felicia: Y/N...

Y/N: Don't you pull that shit with me! There is no way I'm going to let you steal all of this!

Felicia stood back up and crossed her arms.

Felicia: You don't understand.

You marched over to her.

Y/N: No. You don't understand. These things are important to a lot of people. We're giving it back. All of it.

Felicia: You're not the boss of me.

You narrowed your eyes at her as she mirrored the action.

Y/N: You're not taking anything.

Felicia: Try to stop me.

Odessa: I'll have to agree with your guest.

You and Felicia stopped at the voice as Toxin appeared on your shoulder.

Toxin: Ohhhhh! Ninjas!

You and Felicia looked up and found yourselves completely surrounded by thieves, all dressed in red. Leading them was none other than Odessa Drake.

Odessa: Hello, Felicia. Cat.

She then looked at you and smirked.

Odessa: Monster.

You and Felicia looked at each other.

So much for an easy job.
