im aware that im a rare breed of woman

EVERYTHING WAS FINE and going smoothly for days, it was like their lives turned into every other teenagers life; simple and fun. But, like everything else in Maddie's life, it turned sour real fast.

"Jacob!" Bella and Maddie shouted in sync as they jumped out of her orange truck. "Jake!"

They were here because Jacob decided to ghost them; never answering their calls or texts, never being home when they come over. It had gotten to the point they thought he was dead, but that was until he called them the night before saying how he doesn't want to be friends anymore and doesn't want to be near them.

It was then that they heard it; the familiar hoots and hollers of Sam, Jared, Paul, and Embry.

Bella's hands clenched into fists by her sides as she spun on her heel and stormed toward them, prepared to confront the rowdy boys who had no idea she or Maddie were there. Maddie was right beside her, her long red hair swishing side to side as she angrily marched toward the boys.

"What did you do?!" Bella shouted. Sam stepped closer to her with his eyebrows furrowed, earning a slap on the chest as she glared up at him. "What did you guys do to Jacob?"

"Watch it," Jared shot her a warning sneer, eyeing the faint handprint she had left on Sam's skin.

"Easy." Sam raised a hand in his direction, causing the boy beside him to back away, his eyes bright with anger.

"He didn't want this," Bella said; she was furious, and that rage was getting the better of her as she paced back and forth, wanting them to leave her friend alone.

"What did we do?" Paul scoffed, eyes narrowed on her pale figure. "What did he do? What did he tell you, huh?"

Madelyn tsked and stepped in front of Bella, looking up at Paul with narrowed eyes. "You better back down before I make you, asshole."

Surprising everyone, his demeanor changed when they locked eyes. His shoulders slumped slightly and he took a small step backwards in both shock and concern. The view shifted right in front of him and all he could focus on was the girl in front of him with locks as bright as fire.

Sam stepped closer upon realizing what was happening, and gave Bella a look. He was hoping that if he got Bella to calm down, Maddie would soon follow. "Calm down. Please." He didn't want Paul to have an accident like he had.

But, of course, she was too caught up in her rage to see the change of attitude coming from Paul.

"Nothing!" Bella exclaimed, ignoring Sam's warning as she took a step closer to Paul, her face inches from his as she scowled at him. "He tells me nothing because he's scared of you!"

Maddie pursed her lips as the boys burst into laughter, amused by her choice of words. Both girls couldn't stand their mocking chuckles. "Embry, you changed."

The boy stopped chuckling and looked down with a frown on his lips.

With her upper lip curled in distaste, Bella was the one to step forward and punch one of them hard across the face, the sound of skin meeting skin resonating around the clearing. Paul gave a furious snarl, the sound so inhumane that it chilled Bella to the core.

"Too late now," Jared drawled as the boy in question began shaking in rage, his body blurring with tremors.

"Girls, both of you get back now!" Sam commanded, grabbing Paul by his shoulder to try and pull him away from them. Away from his Imprint.

Maddie grabbed Bella's hand and pushed her behind her protectively as Paul loomed forward as he trembled with rage, his teeth bared in an animalistic snarl. She quickly jumped back in time just as a giant grey wolf formed where Paul had just been standing.

"Bella!" Jacob screamed as he raced onto his front porch, having heard the commotion occurring and deciding to investigate. And it was a good thing he did, because literal chaos was about to ensue. "Maddie!"

"Jake!" Bella shouted as she turned on her heel and sprinted towards him. "Jake, run the other way!"

Maddie stood her ground and continued to stand in front of Paul, her face turning into a scowl as she saw what he was. A werewolf.

Suddenly, Jacob jumped over the girls, transforming into a giant brown wolf as he landed in the dirt.

The two wolves faced each other, growling fearsomely. Paul scratched at the ground with his claws, ears pinned back as he revealed his sharp teeth, grinding them together as he circled his prey.

And then suddenly, in the blink of an eye, they were crashing into each other, releasing matching roars. Paul was the first to sink his teeth into Jacob's skin, Jacob throwing him aside with ease.

Then, they were back to circling each other again, eager for round two.

Jacob was quick to overpower Paul, earning a painful whimper as he tore into the latter's fur. The two of them tumbled into the woods, continuing their fight as they disappeared behind the trees, and then there was silence.

Maddie quickly grabbed Bella and narrowed her eyes as she looked at those who remained.

"Hey, it's okay," Jared reassured them, before smirking teasingly and adding, "We don't bite unless provoked."

"Werewolves," Maddie bit back in disgust. First a different breed of vampires and now a different breed of werewolves. What else is next?

"HEY, WE'RE HERE." By here, he meant Emily's place, wherever that was.

Maddie ignored the hand that Embry held out for her, and jumped down with ease. Bella followed shortly behind her, also getting down on her own. The two followed after Jared who bounded ahead of them with a grin.

"Hey, I think we should go back and see if Jacob's okay," Bella called out to him with screen.

"I hope Paul sinks some teeth in him. Serves him right," Jared rolled his eyes, unphased by her worry.

The redhead pursed her lips tightly. She kinda agrees, but also, she hates that Paul turned into a werewolf by anger which was caused by Bella, meaning he was going to hurt her sister. And that was a big no-no in her books. But, Jacob deserved a good beating after the way he treated both her and Bella.

"Come on in, girls," Embry called, "We don't bite."

"Speak for yourself," Jared chuckled, before disappearing inside.

Embry rolled his eyes at him and turned back to the girls, gesturing them over with a smile. Bella and Maddie didn't hesitate to join him, even though they were still a little mad at him too.

Embry's smile wavered as he glanced at the house behind him. "Listen, about Emily, Sam's fiance?" he muttered, voice low so that the people inside wouldn't hear him. "Try not to stare at her, it bugs Sam."

"Why would we stare?" Bella frowned, sharing a confused look with Maddie.

But Embry was already turning away from them, grin back in place as he bounded inside.

They followed behind him, and Bella had easily stepped through the threshold, while Maddie hesitated. She didn't want to be in a werewolves home, but she knew that they couldn't be too much of a threat because they could've harmed them at any time but hasn't. There has to be a reason. Therefore, she bit down on her lip as she stepped through the threshold.

Turned out it was just as cozy inside as it was outside, with the kitchen and living room being one large open space.

Honestly, this was always what Maddie thought home would feel and smell like.

A woman who couldn't be older than twenty was rushing around in the kitchen, her dark hair hanging around her face in waves. "You guys hungry?" she asked the boys before letting out a laugh. "Like I have to ask." She turned around, noticing the girls that stood at her dining table. "Who are they?"

She met Maddie's eyes first, the girl in question understanding what Embry had meant when he said not to stare. Her eyes flickered over the scar that ran from the corner of Emily's right eye to the base of her chin, quickly averting to her eyes firmly. If Emily noticed the look, she didn't show it, a smile brightening her features as she glanced from her to the boys that had collapsed into chairs at the table.

"Bella and Madelyn Swan," Jared scoffed like he was surprised Emily had even bothered to ask them that. "Who else would it be?"

"So, you're the vampire girls," Emily hummed as she eyed them once more.

Maddie scoffed loudly, making everyone look at her in surprise. "I'm no ones girl, let alone a vampires." Maybe she could've been, but she knows better now.

Bella held her hand to make sure that Maddie knew that she was safe and comforted. "So, you're the wolf girl?" She retorted as she narrowed her eyes at Emily. She was still fuming at Jacob's dismissal of their friendship and his Paul had acted all smug.

"Guess so," Emily shrugged. Once more, if she noticed their anger, she didn't show it, her smile in place as she stood beside Embry and Jared. "Well, I'm engaged to one, at least." As she spoke, she placed a tray of muffins on the dining table.

Immediately, the boys lurched forward, eager hands outstretched to scoff down as much food as they could before Sam, Paul and Jacob arrived and they'd have to share it with them.

Emily frowned at them, smacking their hands away with her lips pursed in disapproval. "Save some for your brothers. And ladies first," she scolded, sighing as they shrugged and continued to eat anyway. She turned to the girls, who were simply watching them curiously. "Muffin you two?" Both girls shook their heads. Though, Maddie did want one because they looked good. "Leave it to Jacob and Paul to find a way around their alpha's orders."

"Jacob didn't say anything to us," Bella insisted, shaking her head.

"That's a wolf thing. Alpha's orders get obeyed whether we want them to or not," Embry spoke with a grin, sitting forward in his seat eagerly. "Oh, and check it out. We can hear each other's thoughts."

"Would you shut up? There's are trade secrets," Jared snapped at him, eyes bright with annoyance. "These chicks run with vampires, damn it."

"You can't run with vampires," Bella chuckled, a melancholic fondness in her voice, and everyone's eyes turned towards her, Jared with an unimpressed frown on his face. "Cause they're fast."

"Yeah? Well, we're faster," Jared scoffed and rolled his hazel eyes. "Freaked out yet?"

Maddie couldn't help but snort. "I've seen worse and have fought worse. You're gonna have to do better than that, puppy-boy."

All the others boys laughed loudly at that, while Paul stared at her with a fondness in his dark chocolate eyes.

Sam patted him on the shoulder lightly before walking toward his wife, pulling her into a kiss. He then turned around to give Paul a look, practically saying, 'talk to her'.

And although Paul likes to consider himself a womanizer, he was too nervous knowing this his perfect match was right in front of him and would barley look at him. But, he couldn't blame her. He just turned into a wolf right in front of her eyes and almost attacked her sister. He couldn't be upset with her if she decides to hate him for a while.

The redhead crossed her arms and looked around at everyone. "So... what's the difference between your kind of werewolves than what is normally known?"

Sam furrowed his brows at her question, but seeing as he's the Alpha, he answered, "we're normally called Shapeshifters, not werewolves."

Maddie steeled herself as flashbacks from a certain shapeshifter came to her.

It had been one hell of a smart shapeshifter, that it had kidnapped her and tortured her for hours. And because it was a strong and old shapeshifter, it didn't need direct contact to shift into anyone. So, once it saw her memories, it started shifting to anyone who she had gotten close to, and started taunting her, using her nightmares against her.

By the time Sam and Dean found her, she was hysterical and felt more broken than she already was.

Paul saw her face and took a small step towards her, wanting to hold her and shield her from the world.

But, him taking a step closer, brought Maddie out of the flashback and she swallowed thickly. She took in a deep breath as she felt a tug at her heart, telling her to look at him, but she didn't. She straightened her shoulders and steadied her heart rate before looking back to Sam. "What's the difference?"

"The difference is that we don't have symptoms or shift until vampires are near. So, because of those leeches, we had no choice in the matter," Jacob spat out, looking at both of the sisters.

Bella looked annoyed at what he had called the Cullen's before remembering that they had left her and broke her. Maddie, on the other hand, snorted in amusement.

"So, you aren't bound by the moon or eat hearts?" She wanted to clarify that they weren't a danger to society. Or else she would have to kill them.

They all made disgusted noises and looked at her like she was crazy.

"I take that as a no," she said with a nod of her head. "Good." She glanced to her side at Bella who was trying hard not to laugh in amusement.

"Why the hell would you think we eat hearts?" Paul asked, his brows furrowed and his lips pulled up in disgust. But, once the red head turned around to look at him to answer his question, his heart skipped a beat and his face automatically softened up. He probably looked like a lost puppy, but he didn't care. His soulmate, the one person who is perfect for him in every aspect, was in front of him. What else was he suppose to do other than gawk at her like an idiot?

Jared and Embry snorted at his expression which ended up with them choking on their muffins.

Maddie chuckled at the sight of them struggling to breathe before turning around to look back at Paul. "I have..." she trailed off before mentally saying 'screw it', "I have met a breed of werewolves that do that sort of thing. They hunt down their prey, rip out their hearts and eat it. Though, they don't know what's happening, meaning most of the time they don't even know that they're a monster." She winced at her word upon remembering that the boys in front of her were a sort of 'monster' that she was trained to kill.

But, that's the thing. Staying in Forks was changing her. She didn't kill the Cullen's because they never gave her a reason to kill them, and now she has wolves in front of her that she also probably won't kill because they haven't done anything to warrant an attack.

What would Dean think about this?

Sam narrowed his eyes and stepped closer to her. "There is another breed of werewolves out there? How come we haven't heard of them?"

She shrugged. It didn't make sense that the Cullens — who are a few hundred years old — never met the other kind of vampires either. It was like there was a glitch in the matrix. "I don't know. But, there is a lot of stuff out in the world that more than half of the population hasn't seen or heard about. So..." she shrugged again, taking a step closer to Bella, feeling a little uncomfortable.

It was hard for both of them to be surrounded by people for so long when all they have been doing for weeks is isolating themselves from big groups. Jacob, Embry, and Quill didn't count.

But now, they were surrounded by a group of boys who were also part of the supernatural world.

Suddenly, a question came to mind for Maddie. "So, you aren't bound by the full moon either?" When they shook their heads, she frowned in thought. "This is so weird. I've never heard of this sort of thing." Her mind then flashed to the conversation she and Bella had with Jacob months ago on the beach. "Wait. Are you guys protectors of this land? And is that why when vampires come near, you transition to protect the people?"

They all stared at her in shock, surprised that she had caught on that fast.

"That means you aren't a threat," she murmured to herself before straightening her shoulders and stared at Sam. "You protect humans, yes?"

Sam nodded, confused on where her train of thought was. "Yes. We attack only vampires who cause harm to the people on this land."

Maddie slowly nodded and looked at each one of them for a few seconds before facing Sam again. "I promise that we will not go running through town screaming, 'werewolves', but if I hear about any member of this pack hurting something because they can't control their anger—" she glanced to Paul who looked down at his feet in shame, "—then we're gonna have problems. But, for now, your secret, along with your pack, is safe."

Sam nodded with a small smile. "Thank you."

She nodded and then gripped Bella's hand. "Now... if you don't mind, can someone drive us home before our dad gets the whole town searching for us again?"

They all chuckled at her before Sam ended up driving them to the Swan residence.

The sister duo made their way up to Maddie's room, where they will talk about what they have learned, and what they will do about it.

It seemed like it was just the beginning of something new, and neither of them knew if they were ready for this new adventure.
