she's fire and ice. you'll fear the cold and crave the burn
BEFORE NIGHT HAD fallen, Bella and Madelyn did a lot of research, and seeing as Jacob gave them more than he thought, it was pretty easy for Maddie to figure out what the Cullen's were. Vampires.
After telling Bella that they will confront the family tomorrow, boy girls went to bed with heads full of worry.
Once it hit midnight, the moon high up in the sky, Maddie started gathering weapons. A couple daggers, a machete, and a vile of deadman's blood just in case.
"Games on, assholes," Maddie spoke into her empty room with a smirk on her features. Her red haired was knotty and in crazy curls running down her back, but she didn't care about appearances. She just wanted to make sure no one would get harmed with the vampires in town.
Crawling out of her window, she landed with a small thud, and began running into the woods.
ONCE SHE APPROACHED the Cullen's home, she kicked in the door, and held up a machete, ready to slice some heads off. She slowly and cautiously made her way further into the big house, her eyes wide and alert.
Once she made it into the living room, there was no signs of either member, but once she turned around, there stood Edward with his eyebrows furrowed.
"Madelyn?"
"I know what you are," she cut right to the point, her eyes narrowed as his widened in shock. "And I won't let you hurt anyone."
"I'm not here to-"
Maddie didn't give any time to talk before she jumped forward, slicing at him with the machete, but he was too fast.
In a blink of an eye, he moved to the side and grabbed her wrist which was holding the machete. "Let me explain!"
"There is no need to explain anything, you're a vampire, asshat." She let the machete fall from her right hand to her left hand, and thrusted the machete towards Edward, but once again, he moved faster than the blink of an eye.
He appeared behind her, and quickly yanked out the machete from her hand, throwing it across the room, and ironically, it slid under the couch.
Turning around abruptly, Maddie came face to face with the rest of the Cullen's. They all were surprised to see her fighting Edward.
"What are you doing?" Carlisle asked in shock from seeing Charlie's daughter fight his son. She was experienced, and that is what surprised him most of all.
"Kicking Edwards ass, that's why she's doing!" Emmett boomed loudly and Rosalie glared at him before turning her cold gaze to Maddie.
"I told you guys to never speak to humans. Now look what happened!" She shouted in annoyance and anger.
"Shut up!" Maddie shouted and tried to thrust a dagger into Edward's stomach, but he grabbed both of her wrists this time, making sure she wasn't going to pull the same trick twice. But, being a Winchester, she knew better than use the same thing twice in a fight.
Instead, she jumped up into the air, kicked him harshly in the stomach, and did a backflip, landing on one knee and both of her hands. She looked up at him, smirking.
"I'm not here to hurt anyone, I swear on my life!" Edward shouted as the girl got up from her stance.
"We don't want to hurt anyone," Esme spoke up after getting over the shock of seeing a human try to kill her son.
"Oh, you mean you're 'undead' lives," Maddie shouted as she jumped up and grabbed a rod on the wall that they were using for decoration. It looked like the handle to a large axe, but the actual axe part was taken off.
Acting quickly, she pushed the rod up, hitting Edward on the jaw, making him stumble backwards. She then twirled around professionally to take a jab at Jasper, but he grabbed ahold of the other end, yanked it, and she went flying towards him.
Shouting, Maddie was grabbed by her arms and was staring face to face with the blonde. "Let go of me you monster!"
"We're not monsters, Madelyn!" Carlisle said, trying to defuse the situation, but she only put all her strength in kicking Jasper away. And due to him having marble like a skin, she screamed as pain rushed through her foot, all the way to her calf.
"You're only hurting yourself!" Rosalie shouted with a roll of her eyes. This was why she hated humans, they reacted without thinking.
Seeing and feeling the pain, Jasper let the red head go. But, that was a mistake because she quickly grabbed the rod again, and hit him upside the head.
"Stop, Madelyn!" Edward shouted, vamp-speeding towards her, stopping her by grabbing her by the waist. "Stop!" He exclaimed in her ear. "Hear us out."
"No!" Maddie screamed, clawing at his hands which barely did anything because it wasn't flesh, and kicking harshly to loosen up his hold. "Let me go before you make this so much more fun!"
"We haven't attacked anyone!" He exclaimed, struggling with holding her. "I promise. No one has gotten hurt, have they? You know it's true. We didn't come here to hurt anyone."
Maddie paused for a second, recalling that no one has gotten hurt since they have been in town. The only person to get hurt was her because of Tyler's terrible driving skills. But, other than that, no one has been drained nor killed. But, then she also recalled the fact that they are vampires, and nothing good can come from them.
"Let go of me, you asshole!" She fought even harder against his tight grip, which was only hurting her in the process. "You seem to have an attraction to my sister! Maybe you're waiting to get her to trust you before you drain her!"
"He would never," Alice said as she gripped Jasper's arm, making sure to keep him calm. He seemed to be feeling all of Maddie's feelings - especially anger - and it wasn't helping him with control.
"Please stop, Madelyn. We are not hurting anyone and we never will. We only want peace. Just listen to us." Edward pushed her down onto the couch as gently as he could.
"We only want a peaceful life," Carlisle stated as he stood in front of the fuming red head who was trying to not kill them. "We came here to live a somewhat human life."
"Why else would we be in school?" Emmett joked, cracking a grin which made Maddie smirk before she controlled her features.
"I want to help people, I want to heal people, not hurt them," Carlisle said, keeping eye contact with Maddie.
The young Winchester paused and looked at each member of the family with calculating eyes. They did look all harmless - but she knew to never judge a book by it's cover. Plus, they were hard as marbles, and she strained her ankle just by kicking Jasper.
She mentally listed their capabilities; speed, and strength. Thinking back to all the days at school, she noticed that they never touched their food or interact with anyone.
"Are you starving yourselves to attack everyone?" She asked, genuinely curious.
Emmett chuckled. "Really? That's your first question?"
Carlisle smiled and watched as the red head didn't take her eyes off of them. "We cannot ingest human food. It's hard on our bodies and it doesn't taste the same."
She nodded, absently licking her lips. "What about blood? You are vampires, so don't tell me you don't drink it."
Esme gave the teenager a kind smile. "We do not drink human blood. We drink animal blood."
Maddie rose an amused brow. "Bambi diet?" She chuckled at herself and then steeled her gaze. "Why?"
Jasper tilted his head at her question. Not only was he amazed that she came to their house alone knowing what they were, and fought them, he was also surprised that she was staying seated, asking questions.
Carlisle tilted his head, too. "We do not believe in harming humans. We would rather live normally than hunt those who don't deserve it."
Maddie assessed his answer with a frown. "Okay." She watched their eyes widen at the one word. Rolling her eyes, she held up a finger and asked, "what's with the eyes? Are they contacts to hide some demon eyes or something?"
Emmett let out a laugh that made her flinch, and clench her jaw. Seeing her reaction, Rosalie slapped him harshly on the back of his head, which made him shout, "ow!" Rubbing his head, he looked at Maddie with a smile. "Imagine us actually have cooler eyes. That would be dope. Don't you think, Jasper?"
Edward shook his head at his brother. "Emmett?" When the boy who looked like he ate boulders turned to him, Edward said, "be quiet."
"How rude," Emmett mumbled which resulted in Maddie snickering.
Alice saw both Jasper and Maddie relax slightly, and she beamed. "No. We don't wear contacts. It's actually our eye color."
Maddie turned to the pixie like girl and furrowed her brows. "That's so weird and cool."
Carlisle shared a look with his wife and they both smiled. They quite liked the young girl. "Our eye color has something to do with our feedings. Due to drinking animal blood, our eyes turned golden. When we drink human blood, it's red. And when we haven't fed in a little while or we're tempted by hunger, our eyes do turn to her a darker color, almost black."
That last sentence struck something in Maddie and she jumped up quickly, ignoring the pain in her ankle, and pointed at Edward. "Bella told me that your eyes kept changing colors! And she said, at one point they were almost black. You tried to eat my sister, dickhead!"
Edward shook his head and quickly held up his arms, blocking the redhead from punching him in the face. "Her blood smells different than anyone else's, yes, but I didn't give in to the temptation. I left school for that exact reason, and to gain control. I am much better now."
The young Swan narrowed her eyes and watched as slight feat shone in his. "You better watch yourself, Cullen. Hurt my sister and you'll spend the rest of your life in hell, listening to Lucifer talk your ear off. Trust me, it's not fun."
Rosalie rose a brow at the human, thinking she was crazy. "What the hell are you going on about?"
Maddie sighed and rolled her eyes at the blonde. "There is a lot about the world that you don't seem to know about or understand."
"The same could be said about you," Jasper spoke up slowly, his southern accent showing even more.
"Yeah!" Emmett shouted in excitement. "What human shows up to a family they know are supernatural, and try to kill them?"
She turned to him, looking him up and down. "Me."
"Obviously," Rosalie groaned out and turned to Carlisle. "She knows about us and tried to kill us. That means Bella either already knows or is about to. We need to stop thinking about what Edward and Jasper wants, and think about the whole family! If words gets out, the Volturi will find-"
Maddie rolled her eyes. "I've known about the supernatural since I was a kid. I think I can keep a secret."
"This isn't about you, so stay out of it!" The blonde shouted and ended up shoving Alice's hand off of her when the smaller girl tried to calm her down. "Stop telling me to stay calm! Since the moment Edward started talking to Bella, I told you that it would go down hill, and that we would be in trouble. Now look at what is happening!"
"Rosalie...." Esme trailed off, and looked down when Rosalie scoffed and turned around, leaving them.
Maddie crossed her arms and turned to Edward. "Bella does know about you." His eyes widened and if he had a heart, it would've stopped beating right then and there. "She wanted to wait until tomorrow to confront you, but I had to take matters into my own hands."
Carlisle stepped forward, but shortly stopped and raised his hands in surrender when Maddie turned to him quickly with a glare. "I know this is hard to believe, Madelyn. But, we do not want to put anyone in trouble. We are only trying to live a human life. And we would like to do it here. So, please, if you-"
"You don't have to worry about Bella or me." She bit her lip as she looked between each member of the family. "We won't tell anyone and I won't try to kill you. But, only if you keep your promise and not hurt anyone."
"We promise." Carlisle nodded.
"Good." She picked up the rod off of the floor and grinned. "Would it be alright if I kept this?" They all gave her a weird look, before Carlisle slowly nodded. "Thanks!" She began walking towards the door, but turned to them, giving them a threatening look. "I'll be watching you." And with that, she was gone.
"I like her!" Emmett said as they watched the red head walk through the woods, limping slightly.
