The Story of The Black Cat
Felicia sat at her desk staring at the email before her. She had to do a double take to make sure she saw what she thought she saw.
Cat: That's him. No doubt about it.
Felicia: But how?
The link that Daisy had sent here was of a photo. In the photo, was her father. The same father who was supposed to be in jail.
Cat: There's no doubting it. That's our father.
Felicia rested her head on her desk. First Fury throws all of the paper work to her and now this? Could her week get any worse?
Cat: Don't actually ask that please. Look, Daisy wouldn't mess with us like this. This is the real deal.
Felicia: I know it is but, why didn't he contact us?
Cat: Hm. Maybe it has something to do with us being SHEILD agents. Or maybe our ties with the Avengers? He's a crook Felicia. He wouldn't contact us if he knew what we're doing.
That was true. He was a criminal but still. To not even contact your own daughter after all this time? Felicia closed her laptop and reached for her phone.
Cat: Calling in the calvary?
Felicia nodded. She found Katie's number and hit the call button.
------------
Robbie leaned against the doorway as Felicia and Katie finished stuffing their stuff in the back the beautiful red car Felicia "barrowed" from Carson. Felicia turned to Robbie and gave him a quick hug.
Felicia: I'll bring her back in one piece.
Robbie: You better.
The two smiled at each other before Katie gave her own hug. She kissed his cheek and turned back to the car.
Robbie: Take care of each other. If things get to crazy...
Felicia: We'll call!
Katie: Love you!
Felicia started her way down the street.
Felicia: So what's Robbie going to do since you won't be here?
Katie shrugged.
Katie: I'm sure he'll find something to do. So your father....
Felicia: Yeah. He's in California. San Diego.
Katie: Are you nervous? You haven't seen him in five years.
Felicia just shrugged.
Felicia: I'm a lot stronger now. Mentally and physically.
Katie smiled. She got comfortable for the ride while Felicia smirked. She stepped on the gas before flipping a switch. The car's wheels began to turn before the car was hovering. Katie suddenly sat up.
Katie: Felicia?
Felicia: Yes?
Katie: Are we flying?
Felicia: Yes.
She hit the gas and the car took off towards it's destination. Felicia already knew how to fly thanks to some, probably not approved, lessons from Moon Knight.
Katie: You're crazy. And you're not even Cat.
Felicia: You bet your ass I am.
The two girls laughed as the car flew through the skies.
-------
San Diego,
Katie leaned against the car and looked around the area where their hotel was located. Felicia returned with their key and unlocked the door. It wasn't anything fancy, just one bed and a crappy TV, but it was clean and cheap. They dropped their bags onto the bed before Felicia looked at her phone as it rang.
Katie: Who's that? Carson?
Felicia: No. Viv.
She answered the phone.
Felicia: Hey Viv? What's up?
Viv: Hello Felicia and Cat.
Cat: S'up?
Viv: I was wondering if you were at the base. I was hoping I could get your assistance in something.
Felicia: Sorey Viv. I'm in California right now. I won't be back for a few days.
Viv: Understood. Have a good vacation.
The line went dead and Felicia frowned. Katie looked up from the brochure she was reading on the bed.
Katie: What did she want?
Felicia: She wanted my help with something. No idea what though.
Katie: Probably just some test or something. Right now we need to focus on finding your old man.
Felicia nodded.
Back at the base, Viv looked at her phone.
???: So much for that.
Viv looked up and stared at you. Not you you. She didn't know what it was really.
Y/N: Guess you're stuck with me for a bit longer. Sorry dear.
----------
Felicia and Katie walked down the boulevard as they began to track down their first lead. The photo was taken at some bar downtown meaning that's their starting point. They both entered and the man behind the counter immediately spotted the two of them.
Owner: I'm going to need to see some ID ladies.
The two girls placed down their IDs, Katie's was fake, and the owner let them slide. The two sat down at the bar and Felicia looked around.
Cat: Maybe I should take over from here.
Felicia agreed and Cat immediately ordered a drink.
Bartender: So you two look like you're from out of town. What brings you to San Diego?
Cat smirked as she took the drink. She then slid him the photo.
Cat: We're looking for this man. You seen him?
The bartender looked at it before nodding.
Bartender: Yeah, I've seen him. Came in last week. I think he came in a few times since but I only work Mondays and Wednesdays.
That was something at least. A start. The girls sipped in their drinks as Cat sent Daisy a quick text. She could look through the security footage and find when he's been in. Maybe this was a normal watering hole.
Katie: Well since we're already here, why don't we have fun?
Cat raised a brow and turned back towards the stage. It was karaoke night. Cat found herself smirking before Katie dragged her towards the sign in.
---------
It was now Wednesday and Felicia had gotten a text from the cute bartender she had given her number to. The man from the photo was at the bar. Felicia smiled and turned to her sleeping partner who was surely going to hate her from waking her up from her "preparty nap".
Felicia gently shook Katie which earned a graon in protest. Felicia shook her a bit harder which got her hand smacked away. Felicia decided to skip being nice and smacked her with a pillow.
Katie: What?!
Felicia: We're going to the bar.
Katie: Sold.
The two got dressed and headed out to finally find Felicia's father. The two girls walked towards the bar where they were greeted by the owner.
Owner: Ladies.
Felicia gave a short wave while Katie gave a flirty wink. The two looked around and Felicia suddenly found the man she was looking for. Her father.
Katie: Is that him?
Felicia nodded.
Katie: He has the same eyes as Cat. I'm guessing you get yours from your mom?
Felicia: Among other things.
She stood there for a moment before she felt Katie place her hand on her shoulder.
Katie: You got this. If things go south, we can just kick his ass.
Felicia smiled.
Cat: I'm here to.
Felicia took a deep breath and started her way towards her father's table. She got close enough to get his attention.
Walter: Heya miss. Mind if I get another drink?
Felicia felt a hit hurt that he didn't notice her. It had been a while.
Felicia: Walter Hardy?
Walter looked at her confused.
Walter: Yeah?
Felicia: It's me. Felicia.
Walter's eyes grew wide before he looked around. He grabbed her arm and sat her down.
Walter: Felicia, what are you doing here?
Felicia: I came to find you. Why didn't you call or contact me? How did you get out early?
Walter looked around some more before he seemed to come up with an idea. He leaned forward and smirked.
Walter: You know what? I may actually need your help.
Felicia: Wha...
Walter: You see, I just got a job. A big one. One that would set me up for life. You still remember everything I taught you right?
Felicia was confused.
Felicia: I, yeah. I work for SHEILD now.
Walter: SHEILD? How did that happen? Since when did you decide to run with the boy scouts?
Felicia felt her heart break. Why, why was he acting like this? He wasn't even excited to see his daughter after five years. Felicia could feel Cat trying to get out.
Felicia: I, I joined after I was a part of the Stikers.
Walter: Strikers? What kind of name is that? It doesn't matter. You want in or not?
Felicia looked down at her hands. As they gripped the table. Her entire body was shaking. How dare he? He dare he treat her like a pawn after all this time?!
Felicia: Shut up.
Walter looked at her surpised.
Walter: What?
Felicia: Just shut up. I'm not a theif anymore. I'm, I'm a Hero.
Walter laughed. He laughed.
Walter: A Hero? Like Iron Man? What kind of crap is that? Did you not learn anything from me?
Felicia: I learned everything from you. I learned how to cheat, steal, and lie. I learned that the world was against me and that I was alone.
Cat was suddenly quiet.
Felicia: You taught me the worst of the world. I am so glad I didn't turn out like you.
Walter: Now you better start showing some respect...
Felicia: Fuck your respect. You're not the father I knew. I didn't need you back then and I don't need you now.
She stood up and turned to leave but turned back once again.
Felicia: And for your information, The Strikers were more of a family to me than you will ever be. You taught me all those horrible things but I was lucky enough to have someone show me that there was more to life.
She turned and left Walter stunned. She walked back to Katie and told her that they were leaving.
Katie: What happened?
Felicia: Nothing. He's just a sad old man. Let's go.
Katie looked at Walter before getting up and following Felicia back out of the bar.
---------
Felicia pulled up to the facility and parked the car.
Katie: Robbie isn't here. Must be out driving.
She looked to her friend and placed a hand on hers.
Katie: You sure you're ok?
Felicia nodded.
Felicia: I'm better than ok actually. Talking to him, seeing how little he cares, I realized how thankful I am to have all of you.
She laughed a bit.
Felicia: And to think that it all started with Y/N.
Katie smiled. She knew that when you left you broke a lot of hearts. After Widow explained everything, forgiveness was finally an option. Even if it will take a while. She also knew how much Felicia still cared for you.
Katie: Yeah. Seems that everyone's lives changed when he jumped into the picture.
She gave Felicia a hug before jumping out of the car. She grabbed her bag from the trunk and slapped the roof of the car.
Katie: Good luck with Carson. I hope he goes easy on you.
Felicia grinned.
Felicia: Aw he loves me. He'll yell at me for a few minutes then buy me lunch.
Katie: Later Kitten.
Felicia: Later Archer.
Cat: Talk to you later girl.
Katie walked off while Felicia startes the car again. She turned down the road and drove away. As she did, she thought back on you. It always led back to you.
