A week had passed before word spread through town of a sweep. The Emperor had decided to send the Elites to search the west secor, where you and the rebels were, in order to sniff out the rebels. This was a huge cause of concern for several reasons. The first was that the Elites were completely under the control of the Emperor.

The way Sam explained it to you, their minds were long gone and they didn't feel pain, emotion, or mercy. Whatever you did, they were no longer who they once were. You weren't ready to see them.

Riri: Everyone needs to be on high alert. If they find us, we're done for.

Miles: We know. If it does come down to it though....

Kamala: We'll have to fight. We might have to kill.

You just stood there with your arms crossed. The future truly was a cruel place. You were thankful to at least have your blades with you.

Cindy: They haven't grown any more have they?

Riri shook her head.

Sam: It's still the same group. Gwendolyn, Gwen, Katie, and Nadia. We don't know if he's sending Tandy and Doreen though.

Y/N: I wouldn't. Gwen and Gwendolyn are good enough but adding Katie's skills and Nadia's brains to it is just overkill.

Riri nodded.

Riri: I agree.

Laura: It doesn't matter. We'll just take them down.

Riri: Not all of us. Some of us need to stay behind and help evacuate the base. We can't let them find anything.

Kamala: I'll stay back and help.

Sam: So will I. Once we're done, we'll head over and help you all.

Riri: That sounds fine. The rest of us are going to head to the market place and make sure no one gets hurt.

You didn't like the way that sounded. Would they really hurt innocent people?

Riri: Ok. Dismissed.

You leaned against a stone wall as you kept an eye out for any of the Elites. You had no idea how much they could've changed in the 15 years if the Strikers were anything to go off of. You even had to wear a cloak as to hide your identity in case they recognized you.

You looked around and saw that everyone seemed to be on edge. You weren't ready mentally or emotionally to see what the Elites did.

Miles: Everyone copy?

Laura: Copy.

Riri: I hear you.

Y/N: I'm here.

Cindy: Anyone have any visuals?

You looked around. It was quiet. No attacks. No soldiers. Nothing.

Y/N: No. I'll keep my eyes peeled.

You pushed off the wall and looked around. You heard some commotion and turned towards it. You made your way through the crowd and found people starting to gather around a scene. You looked over at it and saw that it was someone you recognized.

Nadia: What is this shit?!

She slammed down a piece of metal onto the booth's counter. The man flinched at it but Nadia was quick to grab his collar. You were in disbelief at what you were seeing.

Her hair was cut as short as it normally was but it seemed like ot was done herself. Her eyes were blood shot and there were dark bags under her wide eyes. Her Wasp uniform was now tinkered to look much more intimidating with a blade on her right wrist and the red now being painted over. Her helmet was on the booth and you could see that it had several cuts in the metal.

Nadia: Are you trying to screw me over here? Cause if you are then I will make sure it hurts when I rip your fucking spine from your nose!

She picked up the man and threw him across the street into another booth which was now destroyed. Nadia grabbed her helmet and placed it on her head. You quickly ducked back into the crowd as she looked around.

Nadia: If any of you know where the rebels are, I suggest you start talking. Otherwise I'll stop being nice.

She shoved through the crowd as she marched away. You spared a glance at her and decided you should try to do something. You didn't want to start a fight here. Too many people. Maybe you can avoid it? If you could trick her into believing that you were the Emperor, maybe.

You shuffled through the crowd and spotted her looking around the area. Now was the time. You slowly approached her and disacivated the mask. You placed a hand on her shoulder but she quickly grabbed it. You moved fast enough to avoid her tossing you and got her attention.

Y/N: Nadia.

She froze when she saw you she quuckly bowed with a smile on her face. It almost looked, twisted.

Nadia: Forgive me your Highness.

It worked. Good.

Y/N: Follow me.

Nadia obeyed and you lead her to a nearby alleyway. You made sure no one was around before turning back to her.

Y/N: How is the sweep going?

Nadia: We haven't found any of the rebels. Gwen had reported in that she did gather a tip though.

Not good.

Y/N: And where is she?

Nadia gave you an odd look.

Nadia: Why don't you just use your telepathy?

Shit.

Y/N: The rebels have a way of finding out when I use my powers. I must remain undetected.

Nadia seemed to believe you. This might work after all.

Nadia: Gwen is over near the Barrows. She said one of our men reported seeing Miles Morales walking on the streets.

Miles? So that's where Gwen was heading to. If those two fought and the other Elites catch wind of it....You needed to act fast.

Y/N: Very well. Keep up the good work. I will head to the Barrows now.

You turned to leave but Nadia grabbed your hand and shoved you against the wall. It actually hurt with as much force she used.

Nadia: What's the rush? Surely we can have some fun here~

What the hell was this? The Nadia you knew was tamed and shy about this stuff. Then again, this wasn't your Nadia. This one was broken mentally. You needed to get away. Surely she would know you weren't the Emperor.

Y/N: No. T-The rebels come first.

Shit! You stuttered. You watched as Nadia's smile quickly turned into a frown and her eyes grew angry. She quickly picked you up and threw you against a pile of trash cans. You were quickly to avoid her next kick and pulled out your blades. You reactivated your mask as your hood fell off.

Nadia: I don't know who you are or why you look like the Emperor, but you will pay for manipulating me!

She fired off her blasters but you blocked them with the blades. She lunged at you but you swung your baldes at her. She shrunk down and avoided you before shooting off another blast that hit your neck. It stung but you ended up smacking her away long enough to escape the alleyway.

As you ran, you reached for your earpiece.

Y/N: Gwen is heading towards you Miles! I'm on my way!

Miles: Copy that.

You rushed through the crowds just as Nadia stepped out of the alleyway. Her grin had reappeared.

Nadia: I found a little rebel~

She flew towards you as you continued to push through the crowds. You finally found the street that would lead to the Barrows but stopped when something sharp stabbed into your thigh. You stumbled forward and fell down into a puddle. You rolled over and saw that it was a throwing star. That could only mean one thing.

Gwendolyn: Oh~ I caught a big one!

She leaped down from the platform she was waiting on and looked down at you. Her hair was long enough to peek out from under her mask. The pink on her costume was now darker and her costume was now shorter but more protected with padding. Nadia flew over and stood next to her.

Nadia: Good work Poole. The Emperor will surely reward us for this one.

You pulled the star out from your leg and stood up. Now you were bleeding from your leg and the spot on your neck from where Nadia shot you. You looked back at the girls and saw that they were both smiling like lunatics.

Gwendolyn: I hope he let's me play with this one! I can already hear his screams as I rip his fingers from his hands! I can see the blood drip from his eyes after I stab them! Oh what fun! What fun indeed!

You pulled out the blades, ready to face them. Gwendolyn rushed towards you with her own swords and attacked you but you manged to block the blades with your own. Nadia flew up and fired off her blasters again. You rolled away to avoid it and kicked Gwendolyn's leg out from under her. You leaped back up and blocked another shot.

Y/N: I'm under attack from Nadia and Gwendolyn!

Cindy: I'll go help Miles.

Riri: Hang tight Y/N. We're on our....

Laura: I have Katie and Doreen on me!

Shit!

Y/N: Riri, go help Laura.

Riri: On it.

You could handle these two on your own. You just needed to hold them off long enough for Sam and Kamala to finish moving everything out.

Nadia moved to attack again but you grabbed her arm and used it to shot at Gwendolyn who ended up slamming into the wall. Nadia acivated her blade and sliced your arm. You moved away in time to block the blade again.

Nadia: Bleed more! After Gwendolyn has her fun with you, I'll make sure you're turned into one of my pretties!

You pushed her back and delivered a kick. Gwendolyn had recovered and moved to attack you again. She stabbed your shoulder but you broke her sword before pulling out the metal and throwing it right into Gwendolyn's leg. She fell over with a wicked smile.

Gwendolyn: More!

She stood back up and pulled out the blade. You watched in horror as she licked up her own blood from the metal. She then spun it around and threw it right back at you. You managed to block it but failed to notice Nadia recover. She stabbed her own blade into your back with a evil laugh.

Nadia: Tag!

You fell forward as the two girls closed in on you. You shook your head as it began to feel fuzzy. Suddenly, there was a shock of electricity from your hand. You looked down and smiled. You slowly felt the heat return to your body.

Nadia: Time to take you home.

Gwendolyn: We'll have so much fun~

Y/N: Not in the way you think.

You let out a sudden blast of electricity that sent the two girls flying. You stood back up and felt your wounds begin to heal. You engulfed your hands in flames and turned towards them. Your swords began to fly around you as they stood back up.

Gwendolyn: He has his face and his powers. How is this possible?

Nadia: I don't know. This will be of great intrest to the Emperor.

You began to spin the two blade around your arm as you reached it out.

Y/N: If you ever make it back.

Nadia smirked and flew right towards you.

Y/N: I'm sorry for this, but you're too far gone.

When she got close enough, you swung a flaming leg right at her. You ended up cracking her helmet as she went flying across the street and into a wall. Gwendolyn began to growl before she lunged at you. You grabbed her and delivered a powerful shock to her body. You tossed her aside and sighed.

Y/N: I'm pretty sure this counts as domestic violence but this isn't the time for jokes. I need to get to the others.

You ignited your feet and blasted off towards the barrows. As you flew through the sky, you could hear people gasping and screaming. You looked down and saw that they were looking at you.

Y/N: When did my flames start to make people feel fear rather than hope?

You landed on a street where you saw Miles swinging around go avoid Gwen's powerful blows. Cindy was trying to web her up but Gwen's new uniform prevent her from doing so.

She had only half a mask that covered the lower half of her face. Her hood was off and her hair, now much shorter, flowed freely. You noticed that she looked a bit sicker and her eyes were almost as bloodshot as Nadia's. Her costume was notably looser but it was smoother. She just slipped out of the webs.

Y/N: I'm sorry Gwen but you need to be taken down.

You blasted up towards her when she wasn't paying attention. Her senses went off but you were faster. You manged to tackle her and slam her onto the ground. She swung at you but you backed up enough to avoid her. You then slammed her wrist down onto the floor and froze it enough so she couldn't break free. You then got up and froze the lower half of her body so she was stuck there.

She started to thrash around violently as she tried to get freed. Miles and Cindy joined you as Miles looked at her sadly.

Miles: Those drugs really did turn her into a monster.

Y/N: Drugs?

Cindy kneeled down and pulled down Gwen's sleeve. Needle marks.

Gwen: Let me go! I'll tear you to shreds!

You watched her with a painful feeling in your gut. There was no time to feel sorry for her though. From the sky came a figure that crashed down beside you. You all looked and saw it was Laura, bloody and broken.

Y/N: Why isn't she healing?!

You rushed to her side and picked her up. None of her wounds were healing.

???: Because I used this.

You all looked down the street and saw it was Doreen. She was holding the same knife Riri had almost killed you with. Godslayer metal.

Cindy: What happened to Riri?

Doreen: Oh, the fake Iron Man. She's with Katie heading to the Emperor. He will be so pleased that we caught the rebel leader that he might just reward us! He'll be so pleased to hear that not only did we catch one, but we killed two more.

Two more? But....oh no.

Doreen: Judging by the looks on your faces, I think you know exactly who I'm talking about. Sam was always weak against a woman and Kamala never did truly get a good grasp of Tandy's power.

They were dead? No. This couldn't be happening. Tandy killed Sam and Kamala. Speaking of Tandy....

Miles: Watch out!

He pushed Cindy away only to be hit in the gut by one of Tandy's daggers. She emerged from the shadows and you realized how stone faced she looked. She summoned two more daggers and threw them without hesitating. You leaped away with Laura in your arms.

Cindy picked up Miles who was grabbing his side. Blood poured onto the street.

Tandy: Looks like there's only four left.

Doreen: Isn't this great?! Two spiders, a wolverine, and a fake! Let's hunt them down like the animals they are.

She leaped towards you with a growl and popped out her skipes. You moved out of the way and she landed on the street. She quickly kicked up as you leaned back but she smiled. You failed to noticed the acorn that came flying from her boot. From her tail came a squirrel that leaped at the nut and scratched your face drawing blood.

Doreen used this distraction to attack you causing you to fall over and drop Laura. She leaped on your and started to cut into your skin in various places. Your uniform was being torn to shreads as more and more cuts appeared. You finally pushed her off of you and picked yourself back up. The cuts began to heal slowly.

Miles and Cindy leaped away from Tandy's attacks but Miles was much slower. Tandy managed to get another dagger to hit in his leg causing him to fall to the ground. Cindy picked him up and turned towards you.

Cindy: WE NEED TO GO!

You grabbed Laura and ignited your feet. You began to blast away while Cindy swung to follow but Tandy was quick to threw one last dagger. It stabbed into Miles but Cindy quickly caught him and the two of you got away. Doreen was about to give chase but Tandy stopped her.

Tandy: Leave them. We have what we came for. We will return to his Highness with the information of a clone.

Doreen: Aww. We can't hunt them down and skin them?

Tandy shook her head and turned to Gwen who was still trying to escape.

Tandy: I think the Emperor would like to take care of this one himself.

You ended up landed under a bridge far from any checkpoints or patrols. You set Laura down and quickly got to worl at checking her wounds. They were bad. Doreen really didn't have mercy on her.

Cindy: Miles!

You turned to see Miles collapse to the ground. You rushed over and picked him up enough to see a large wound on his back. It looked bad.

Y/N: Don't you have a healing factor?

Miles couldn't answer. You leaned him up against the wall and Cindy began to panic.

Y/N: Miles? Can you hear me?

He let out a rough breath.

Y/N: Stay with me bud. I'll find someway to help you. I-I'll patch you up somehow. Just stay with me...

Miles placed a hand on your arm stopping you.

Miles: This isn't your fault.

You watched as his eyes turned cold and his arm dropped. He let out one last breath before he passed. Cindy covered her mouth to hide her sobs while you looked at your friend. You reached up and closed his eyes before letting out a shaky breath. You stood up and turned back to Laura.

You walked over and kneeled down. She was still alive. You quickly placed your hand over her wounds and sighed.

Y/N: Please don't hate me.

You ignited your hand and began to seal the wounds close. She let out a painful scream but it died down once you were finished. You pulled your hand away and saw that she was no longer bleeding. You turned back to Cindy.

Y/N: We need water to clean her wounds. Find me a bucket or something that could hold water.

Cindy nodded and rushed around to find something. She came back with a barrel which you used your claws to cut. You created a block of ice before melting it into water. You called it down enough and tore off a piece of your jacket. You ducked it in and began to clean the blood off of Laura.

Cindy: They're dead.

You looked over your shoulder. She was hugging her knees and staring at the water.

Cindy: Sam, Kamala, Miles. They're all dead.

You finished cleaning up Laura before you moved to Cindy.

Y/N: Calm down. We haven't lost yet.

Cindy: You don't get it. They're not coming back Y/N.

Y/N: I know that. That's why we need to keep moving on. We have to make sure they didn't die for nothing.

Cindy looked at you with tears in her eyes. You placed a hand on her shoulder.

Y/N: We need to avenge them. It's what we do.

Cindy sniffed before nodding. It was you, her, and Laura. The last of the Avengers. The last chance of stopping the Emperor.

Cindy: We need to find Riri.

You nodded before turning back to Laura who was now sleeping.

Y/N: We will. Once Laura is healed, we'll find her and bring her home.

Cindy didn't say anything. She just returned her gaze to the water. You sat down and looked at the water with her. How did things get this bad?

The Emperor watched as the leader of the rebels was dropped at his feet. Looks like Katie had a bit of fun with her before bringing her here. She was bleeding from her nose and mouth but also had several cuts and bruises.

Y/N: You could have brought he back awake.

Katie: Sorry dear~ I couldn't pass up some good fun.

You just shook your head. You stood up and kicked Riri down the steps to wake her up. She looked up at you from the floor.

Y/N: Take her to the cells. I'll have Gwendolyn question her.

Katie: Yes sir~

She picked up the prisoner and carried her away just as the other appeared. You noticed that Nadia and Gwendolyn looked angry.

Y/N: What's the report?

Tandy: We have killed rebels Kamala and Sam. We have also made a discovery.

Y/N: A discovery?

Doreen: Another you!

You raised a brow. Another you?

Y/N: Explain.

Nadia: I was taken to the side by a boy who looked identical to you but younger. He wielded two blades before he used powers similar to yours.

Gwendolyn: Electricity and fire!

Tandy: We belive that he has the Evolution power as well.

You stood up and looked down at the Elites.

Y/N: Very well. I want the others found. Dead or alive I want them taken care of.

Doreen: What about the boy?!

You turned to walk away.

Y/N: I will take care of him myself.

You heard something shuffle nearby and you stood up with your claws out. Cindy was asleep with Laura meaning you were the only one readily available to fight. From the darkness came Lockheed.

Y/N: Lockheed.

As he got closer, you noticed he had something in his mouth. It was the amulet. You bent down and grabbed it before sitting down.

Y/N: Good boy.

He climbed on you lap and quickly laid down. You began to pet him before you looked at the amulet. You placed it around your neck and activated it to look at the stone inside. You looked at it and sighed. All of this was Kang's fault. You needed to hurry up and fix things here.

Across the city, yellow eyes opened. The Emperor looked over and saw that for the first time in months Viv was awake.

Y/N: Viv?

Viv: The Time Stone is in the city.

You smiled evilly. So it wasn't a clone. It really was you.

Y/N: Good.

You stood up and walked over to her. She was little more than a torso with a head as she was attached to the computer's mainframe courtesy of Nadia. You placed a gentle hand on her head and slowly petted her.

Y/N: Good work my dear.

Viv closed her eyes and returned to her slumber. You stopped and slowly walked away.

Y/N: Soon, I will fix everything.
