Life in The Tower Pt. 1
It was the day after you were introduced to the team and they were now watching in both amazement and horror as you fought off the 16th wave of enemies with your powers. Once again your were barefoot and shirtless but your embarrassment was gone as you leaped around. You were able to display all of your abilities as well as your new ice powers. The wave ended once you came crashing down with a painful flame kick.
Sam: How is he not tired yet?
Kitty: This is beyond anything I seen at the mansion. Some of the best can't even last this long.
You waited for the next wave of enemies to emerge before starting things off with your Hell's Kitchen move. You then leaped to a wall before freezing your leg in a thick layer of ice. You then slammed it down on one of the thug's head. You rolled away and unfroze your leg.
Y/N: Suggestions on that one?
Peter: How about the Matthan?
Y/N: I want to hold off on that one for a bit.
Peter: Chinatown? It looked like a Kung Fu move.
Y/N: Chinatown it is.
You then resumed fighting. Widow looked at Peter for an explanation.
Peter: It's just something we do. He makes up a new move and we name it. So far we only had Hell's Kitchen but now we have Chinatown.
Y/N: Chinatown Kick!
Peter: Chinatown Kick.
You began to dodge every hit before igniting your claws and cutting through the simulations. You stopped and recalled another move you wanted to try. You leapes towards a wall and stabbed your claws into them. You then planted your feet onto wall before focusing the heat onto your feet. You retracted your claws and went flying at a high speed towards one of the thugs. You went right through them and caught yourself before you hit the ground.
Y/N: Yeah! What's that one?
Peter rubbed his chin.
Peter: What about Washington Heights? Get it.
Y/N: Cause I have to go high?
Peter: He got it.
Washington Heights it is. You moved to rejoin the fight but the simulation was shut off by Widow who stepped out of the booth. You were actually thankful for the break and decided to catch your breath.
Widow: Not bad kid. That was actually impressive. It's almost hard to believe that you come up with this stuff.
You waved your hand dismissively.
Y/N: I see stuff on TV and mix it with the stuff I've seen on the streets. Hell's Kitchen was from a bunch of break dancers and the Chinatown Kick was just a move I saw on TV with a little extra power.
Widow smiled at your enthusiasm. It wasn't easy to get the others as invested as this.
Widow: Well that was great. You can go ahead and take a break now. You're done for the day if you want to go do something.
Y/N: Go do something? Like what?
Widow: Well, what do you normally do?
Y/N: Uh, watch TV or lay in the closet.
Widow: You don't go outside the tower?
You shook your head. You didn't really have a reason to.
Widow: Oh. Well then....
She turned back to the booth.
Widow: Everyone has a new assignment.
You could hear some groans from the booth.
Widow: I want you all to show Y/N what you all do on your downtime. Dismissed.
She gave a playful wink to you before heading out of the room with Peter. The other filed in and you felt yourself tense up. You can do this. No need to be nervous.
Marvel: That was so cool!
Y/N: You're cool to!
You blew it.
Marvel: Uh, thanks?
Miles just shook his head.
Kitty: Soooo, what did you usually do before you came here.
Whatever it took to survive.
You just shrugged.
Gwen: Well, who do you want to go with first?
You looked at all of them awkwardly. You then looked down at your feet before scratching your head. You couldn't do this. You just sighed.
Y/N: Actually, could you just turn the simulator back on?
They all looked at you with various faces of confusion. Now you just felt bad. Did they think that you thought they weren't interesting? Maybe they think you're an asshole.
Y/N: I-I'm just not really good with people. It's nothing against you guys.
Miles and Riri shared a look of understanding.
Miles: Fine then. You'll come with me first. After that we'll rotate by room number.
You looked at him and smiled a bit.
Y/N: Thanks.
-------
Miles' room was surprisingly neat. His bed sheets were black but his pillows were red. Pictures of him and his family sat on the desk which also had two notebooks filled with math equations. Next to the bed was a music player with a pair of headphones attached.
Miles: So this is my room. I mostly come in here when Sam and Marvel start their arguments on sci-fi and fantasy. I also work on my web fluid here to since Riri normally takes over the lab.
He sat on his bed and reached for a box on the bottom self of the music player. He was dresses in a black hoodie and a pair of tan cargo shorts.
Miles: What do you listen to?
Y/N: Uh.....
Music was mostly whatever the shops were playing or random lyrics a crack head was screaming out.
Y/N: Whatever. I don't, really, have a preference.
Miles just nodded and picked out a random CD. He placed it into the player and the room was filled with some hip hop song.
Miles: Yeah. Post Malone.
You ended up sitting on the desk chair and looked around the room some more. Your eyes fell on the picture frames. Miles was between his parents with a smile on his face. Another was of just his mom and dad.
Miles: My dad's a cop and mí madre is a nurse.
Y/N: Do they approve, all this?
Miles chuckled a bit.
Miles: It took some time but yeah.
He caught himself before asking a stupid question.
Miles: So, what goes through your mind when you do those moves?
You just shrugged.
Y/N: Well since I'll just heal when I get hurt I figured I'd just try stuff out and see what works.
Miles: Dope.
You began to relax a bit and listened to the music. This was, nice.
Y/N: You do this to relax?
Miles: If it isn't this then I'm making webs.
Y/N: Nice.
------------
The next person was Riri. Her room was, well, uh, it looked more like a electronics store than a room. You could barely see the bed under the various parts and the desk was covered in blueprints. Riri just looked around her room before laughing awkwardly.
Riri: Maybe we should just go to the living room.
The two of you sat on the couch while the TV played in the background. She was wearing a white shirt with a pair of black sweat pants. Her hair was held in a ponytail.
Y/N: So do you make stuff?
Riri: Either that or upgrade our gear. It's my kind of fun.
Y/N: Did you make that Iron Man suit?
Riri nodded proudly.
Riri: From scratch. Of course I'm always trying to improve it.
You both soon fell into silence.
Riri: So, I'm guessing you don't have suit yet?
You shook your head. You haven't really gotten to go on any missions or fight any bad guys besides the Wrecking Crew.
Riri: I can probably make you one.
Y/N: Are you sure?
Riri: Totally! It'll give me something new to work on besides my suit. Do you have any ideas on what you want?
You were just thankful for the suit.
Y/N: Not really. I'll trust you on that kind of stuff.
Riri tilted her head and rest her chin on her fist.
Riri: You're not very complicated. I like that! But you also don't need to be so shy.
Y/N: What?
Riri: You looked so scared earlier in the simulation.
She placed a hand on your shoulder and smiled.
Riri: The others are actually really cool. Just relax. I'm sure you'll get along with them.
You smiled at her words. You nodded in agreement. Maybe you should relax.
Riri: Good. Now let's talk about that suit.
