Chapter 2

"We are here!"

I sat up so fast that I banged my head on the truck wall behind me. Making my brown hair fall in front of my face and get matted to my forehead from sweat. I probably looked like a mess.

I must have fallen asleep because my back hurt when I sat up and I felt a big cramp on my side. It's not my fault that I sleep on the floor of the truck, and that Greg wasn't kind enough to use some of his money for a mattress! Or maybe some new clothes! I've had these clothes for so long that they feel tight and are extremely dirty.

I had on a pair of grey sweatpants that were now two inches above my ankles, when they were exactly at my ankles 2 years ago. And the waist band now cut into my hips showing an elastic line where it hugged me to tight. I don't even want to explain how uncomfortable my underwear or bra is, I probably just moved up one size. My shirt was a plain pink one, but at the top it looked redder from the blood that dripped from my neck. And at my neck I could feel two dents punctured into my skin surrounded by dried blood.

I internally cringed when I touched them. They were like a bruise, but they never went away. And just like a bruise they were a constant reminder that I must have done something wrong to make them appear. But instead of falling I fell into a trap with a madman named Greg. So the injury would always be there.

I groaned as the madman stood directly across from me with a sinister smile planted on his face.

The back of the truck was open letting in the bright sun of the morning. It was blinding compared to the darkness just seconds ago. Looking for the best spot to move away from the suns' rays, I started scooting myself to the far corner of the truck. I never was a morning person.

"Stop that Chloe. You are just making a fool of yourself," Greg said.

He's saying I'm making a fool of myself? He is the one who smells his money and dips the end of his mustache in blood. Of course he says it makes a statement, but it just looks stupid. At first I thought it was left over ketchup from lunch, but was thoroughly disgusted when I found out what it actually was. I never tried to take a sneak peak at the driver's seat again.

I glared at him not saying a word and crawling to the edge of the truck and jumped out the back. It felt weird to feel the grass on my feet (I guess there was an advantage of not having shoes.) I only get fresh air one week out of a whole month, and that wasn't because Greg tried to be nice, and nice is not a word that would describe him. No, the only reason he would let me out was because he got sick of me complaining about my girl problems.

I outstretched my arms out to my sides, and took deep breath in and out. I almost felt free.

Greg roughly grabbed my arm and pulled me out of my trance, "What are you doing? You're not a bird. So stop acting like one." He grabbed my hand with the same amount of roughness and snapped the metal chains on my wrist. This was his way of not making me run away, but I never saw the point. I mean how is tying my hands together going to make me not run away? Didn't he know I had two legs? Stupid was definitely a word to describe him.

He then grabbed my elbow and forced me in the direction he was walking. My feet dragged across the grass because I was too weak to pick them up. It's hard to walk when all your blood is almost drained completely from your body every week. And it didn't help that Greg parked the car far away from the castle.

He had a bunch of blood bags in the truck from past kids that died but still had blood. He would either sell them or he would give them to me to get more blood in my body. At first when he suggested it I tried to fight him, but he just pushed me and I was so light from blood loss that I banged my head and fell unconscious. Then when I woke up I felt better and an empty bag of blood sat next to me. So now instead of just pushing me he would just do it and I would look away. And if I didn't he would threaten me with a needle filled with strange fluids. In it was something that would always make me go into a deep sleep and wake up with a pounding headache. So there was no use of fighting it, it wasn't going to help me in any way.

Anyways, he parked far away because he was frightened that vampires would steal his money, or that they would steal the blood bags without paying. Greg and his money are inseparable. We have to walk around 6 miles, just to reach the castle, because some stupid obsession with paper with presidents on them. Ridiculous.

"You are falling behind! Come on your walking too slow I told them I'd be there in 2 hours!" He yelled

It's not my fault if we are late! I didn't say it out loud.

Around two hours and thirty minutes later we reached the castle. I was smiling, while Greg looked pissed.

On the way I pretended that I saw a vampire behind him. So I made myself shake, my eyes to go big, and pointed behind him. He looked so frightened when he started to turn around that I had to suppress a laugh. Once his eyes moved away from mine I made a run for it. There was so many trees around that it was easy to hide, but being my stupid self I tripped over a branch and fell. When the branch snapped Greg came running in my direction. When he came close enough I stuck my foot out making him fall over me. In the process of falling I got a good kick to the ribs, making me groan. Next thing I knew Greg took a needle out of his pocket and stuck it in my arm. That is exactly what he did every time I tried to run, but I still tried anyways.

I woke up and we happened to be at the castle doors. And with his watch in my face I could clearly see that we were late, that made me smile. Then immediately frowned when I realized he was holding me, and jumped right out of his arms and landed beside him. When my feet hit the ground I pretended to wipe off imaginary germs and the disgusting feeling of Greg holding me. I knew it wouldn't go away by me rubbing at my arms and legs furiously, but it was worth a try.

I stopped rubbing and looked straight ahead of me and was met with the biggest building I have ever seen. I had to tilt my head farther back just to see it all. In front of the huge building stood two guards that both had their arms crossed over their chests. They both had shaved heads and a strong demeanor that showed that they shouldn't be messed with. They seemed to be staring at us the whole time and didn't say anything.

I felt frightened.

"You're late!" The man on the right yelled. "I am very disappointed..." He dragged out as he circled Greg then stopped when he got right in front of him. "I heard you always come on time? I don't think the prince will like it that you didn't show up on time..." he teased, and then smirked. "I guess you will have to see for yourself," He opened up the large doors slowly. He seemed like one of those people that would scare little kids by letting them go into a haunted house just to hear them scream.

Greg pushed me inside first while he took off my chains, but he still held my hands behind my back like a prisoner.

The inside looked just as grand as the outside. A grand chandelier hung above our heads and the walls are painted a light grey but seemed to get darker as my eyes started looking down the long hallway. In front of us was two sets of stairs that started on my right and left, but they both made a half of a circle to reach the top floor.

"Trent, the lousy humans are here."

Who is Trent?

No sooner than when the words left the bald guys mouth a man with lightning fast speed rushed down the stairs and stood in front of the last step and stared at Greg.

"Why are you late?!" The man yelled. Just by the way he spoke I could tell he was someone of great power.

'We seemed to have run into some issues." Greg replied, then sent a glare in my direction. When he turned his head towards me so did the man in front of him.

I stood almost paralyzed in front of the man. He was so handsome that I couldn't pull my eyes away. He looked about 6'4 and had soft black looking hair that had a crown resting on top. Then when my eyes traveled down to his mouth I saw two pointy fangs sticking out. But it wasn't the fangs that made me freeze; it was that I felt attracted to this vampire- the prince of vampires.

He looked to be staring at me the same way I was looking at him, and when my eyes landed on his I took a step forward. His eyes were a fiery red, which meant he was thirsty for blood. You kind of pick up on vampire reactions after 2 years of them using you for blood. By the looks of things it looked like he hadn't been feeding in days. Which made me almost feel...sorry for him?

I took more steps forward until we were almost chest to chest. Then without a second thought I tilted my head to the side to give him better access to my neck. My body was acting in strange ways around him, and it was making me worried. I never have felt this way before. I have done this so many times before that it shouldn't have been such a big deal, but this time I knew it was going to be different. Not just the fact that the vampire prince never left the castle, so I would never have the chance to escape. It was the fact that I didn't know if I would want to escape.

When it felt like I had held my neck sideways for too long I started to wonder why he hadn't bitten into my neck, so I looked up at him. And if it was even possible his eyes were a darker shade of red.

If he seriously was that thirsty wouldn't he have bitten into my neck by now?

"Who did this to her!" The prince grabbed my neck -but not hard enough to hurt me-and showed the marks that were placed on my flesh.

"Well they are-" Greg started to reply, probably going to make up some stupid lie about how a bug bit me. He didn't want anyone to know about my reusable life and how I hadn't died from multiple vampire bites. But before he could reply my mind drifted off to the first vampire bite I survived and the promise I made to Lucas. The 'saving humans cause' still hadn't died yet as long as someone still knew about it, and I will keep it with me till the day I die. I probably didn't even feel any attraction to the prince, he was probably just manipulating me like he did for everyone else that worked in the castle.

I took a deep breath in and said, "They are what I like to call 'Monster Marks' and I got them from filthy monsters like you!"

Greg looked surprised that I talked, because I hadn't talked in a really long time. But the prince didn't seem fazed by my outburst and grabbed me around my waist and pulled me to his chest. Instantly he grazed his teeth over the already punctured fang mark, and just that action sent a shiver up my back. Why was my body acting like this?

"No other vampire will stick their fangs in my beloveds neck ever again!" The two bald vampires looked shocked while Greg and I both looked confused. "And you will be mine for eternity."
