The Beginning 2/3

Y/N: What the hell is going on?

You sat there, knees up to your chest and hands on your head, as you sat in Laura's room. Just moments ago, you fought, and defeat, some creature that looked like something out of a horror comic. The most confusing part was how. You had claws and your arm was on fire. What's even more bizarre was the fact that you couldn't even feel it. It didn't hurt you.

Laura: You need to calm down. Trust me, I know this is a lot to take in.

Y/N: My arm was on fire, Laura! And those dreams weren't dreams! Just...what the hell?!

Laura sat next to you and placed a hand on your shoulder as you tried to calm down.

Laura: I know. The same thing happened to me. I had these strange dreams where I was a part of this team and everyone called me a mutant. What is that even? But, after I found out about my claws for the first time, I realized that those dreams weren't fake.

Y/N: What are they? Memories? How? I never did any of those things? And, they're so blurry. It's like I can remember other people but I can't see their faces. I don't know who they were to me. I, I think there were a lot of us.

Laura: Yeah. I can't see them either. But, now that this happened, I can see you. You were there. In my dreams. I remember you.

You tried to think. You recalled the dream and sure enough, Laura was there. She was wearing some kind of costume and she had her claws and, what was this?

Laura: I have no idea what's going on. Whatever this is, we need to keep it between the two of us. There's no telling what this could all mean. And if there's more people out there like us, with powers, and they turn out to be bad people.....

Y/N: They might be coming for us.

Laura nodded. Why didn't you think about that. There could be even worse people with powers like this. People that would bring nothing but harm to others.

Y/N: So....what do we do?

Laura sighed and sat against the wall.

Laura: We keep quiet. If there is someone who comes after us, we fight.

You lokked at her surpised. Fight? She wanted you to fight these people? You got lucky with the creature but these were other people.

Y/N: I...I can't fight, Laura. I don't even know how I summoned that fire.

Laura: I know. I couldn't pull out my claws right now if I wanted to. I think it works on survival. Like when there's a fight. I can't explain it but it's like a voice in the back of my mind. Like someone is telling me what to do. I have no idea what the creature was but I saw it attacking you. Something just clicked and I was in fighting mode again.

You looked at her for a moment. You felt it to. A voice. It was telling you about your claws. Same for the fire. When you saw the creature attack Laura, you just had this overwhelmed feeling to fight it. To save Laura. You looked back at your feet and sighed.

Y/N: When the creature grabbed you, I heard the voice to. It was mine. It told me to show it the flame in my heart. The one I forgotten.

Laura: The first time I pulled out my claws, it was when I saw a kid getting mugged. It was during the last visiting week.

That was almost a month ago.

Laura: It said, "Show them that your claws are not dull". Something like that, at least.

So it was the two of you then.

Laura: Y/N, you have to make me a promise.

You looked over to her to see that she was staring at you.

Y/N: What?

Laura: You can't tell anyone about this. No one. Not Robbie, not your parents, no one. I can see you in these dreams but no one else. We don't know who we can trust.

You looked at her for a moment before you slowly nodded.

Y/N: Okay. I won't tell a soul.

Suddenly, the door swung open which caused the two of you to flinch. Kitty walked in, wearing her sunglasses indoors like an asshole, with a smile on her face. She tossed her backpack on her bed before she noticed the two of you.

Silence filled the room as the three of you looked at each other.

Kitty: Uh.....what's going on here?

You and Laura looked at each other and suddenly realized how close the two of you were. You and Laura quickly shot up to your feet and created more space between the two of you.

Y/N: I was just helping Laura with her homework!

Laura: We were just taling a break!

Kitty looked at the two of you for a moment before she lowered her sunglasses.

Kitty: Hm.

Stare.

Kitty: Hmm.

Stare.

Kitty: Hmmmmm!

Stare!

Kitty: Cool! Could you actually help me out with my homework to? Math is killing me.

You grabbed your backpack and handed her you notebook before you walked to the door.

Y/N: Just give that back to me tomorrow. I need to go meet up with Robbie.

You then left without another word. Kitty watched you until you were out of sight. She then turned around to her best friend/roommate with a very suggestive smirk.

Laura: Don't get any ideas.

Kitty: Oh? So I'm not supposed to be thinking that my best friend just had her crush in our room, alone? What would Logan think?

Laura felt her eye twitch as she thought about her father.

Laura: He would kill him. So, let's just keep this under wraps.

Kitty stuck her tounge out with a smile.

Kitty: Your secret's safe with me!

Monster:
Lost Memories
---------------------

You found yourself at the school's Cafe which was near the auditorium. Your mind was still racing even though the sun was beginning to set. Surprisingly, none of your classmates were here. At least you had time to think.

???: Boo!

You just about spilt your coffee at the sudden yell. You quickly turned around and found Molly standing there with a huge smile. On her head was one of her many hats.

Y/N: Oh. It's just you. Hey, Lil Terror.

Molly: Yep! What are you doing here alone, bro?

She sat across from you with her own drink.

Y/N: Eh. Everyone was busy and I didn't feel like hanging out in the dorms.

Molly: Well, you should consider yourself lucky. I have to take the subway home everyday.

Since Molly was a first year, she wasn't allowed to stay in the dorms. She still had access to the school grounds until curfew so she often stayed later and studied to hung out with her friend. Some second years that seemed nice enough.

Y/N: Yeah well, I don't exactly feel safe with you walking around the streets at night.

Molly: Why not? Dad gave me those brass knuckles to...

You quickly jumped up and covered her mouth as to not let her snitch herself out.

Y/N: Keep it down. Those aren't exactly legal.

Molly nodded and you removed your hand.

Molly: I'm always prepared.

That was true. Your dad did give her those brass knuckles and taught her self defense lessons. On top of that, Molly had a very bizarre bloodlust for anyone who wanted to harm her or her loved ones.

Truly a horrible sight.

Y/N: Whatever. How's class going?

Molly: Good. I blew up an experiment during chemistry though.

Of course she did. You looked at her but you saw something odd again. Just like with Gwendolyn and Viv. Like a faint blur overlapping with her. You blinked and it was gone once again. Was this a part of the dreams you and Laura have been having? Maybe you should talk to her about it when you had the chance.

Y/N: That's good to hear. I'm glad you seem to be having fun.

Molly: Always! I just kinda wish I could see you and Robbie more.

Y/N: Well, if you took a bit away from Sam....

Molly: Stop being mean to him!

You just hummed as you took a sip of your drink. Molly grabbed your shirt and began to drink you while you sat there unfazed.

Molly: It's not even that bad! We haven't even kissed yet! I tried but he's too much of a prude!

Y/N: He also knows me and Robbie will kick his ass if he tries anything.

Molly: Stop being a jerk!
-------------
You laid in your bed with your arms behind your head as you stared at the roof. Today was definitely a weird one. That creature was definitely up there with the fire and claws. Besides that, everything was just weird. It feels like you were trying to remember something that you had never seen before. Like retelling a joke you saw on TV.

On top of that, you were seeing those weird things when you looked at your friends. Those outlines around them looked more like something trying to break free. Like another memory was trying to break out and reveal itself to you.

Robbie: You know where I put my keys? I can't find them.

You looked over to your friend and shook your head.

Y/N: You probably left them in the garage.

Robbie sighed as he sat in his bed.

Robbie: Probably. It's been a long day.

He laid down as you rolled your eyes. He didn't know the half of it. You rolled over to your side and closed your eyes. You just needed this day to end already. And hopefully, you'll get some rest.

Robbie decided to do the same and pulled his blankets over him. He let out a yawn as he tried to sleep. As night fell over campus, everyone called it a night. As you slept, Robbie found himself restless. He felt his body heat up so he tossed the blankets off of himself. Somewhere along the night, his shirt came off too. He thrashed around throughout the night as you slept.

He lunged towards you but you grabbed his jacket and thew him backwards. He stood back up and conjured up a fire ball in his hand. You mirrored the action and threw it at the same time. The balls of fire collided and and exploded. When you could see, he was already on you. He stabbed you shoulder with a knife and knocked you to the ground. He then looked deep into your eyes.

Ghost Rider: Now repent.

Robbie's eyes shot up as he sat up. His breathing became heavy as he felt like his whole body was on fire. He slowly looked over to you to see if you were even awake. You were actually sound asleep. Robbie lifted a hand to his chest and felt it's heat.

Robbie: What the hell was that?
----------
You sat at your desk as you mindlessly scrolled through your phone. Robbie had already left by the time you woke up for school. You figured he would be in the classroom but he was no where to be found. Laura also wasn't here yet so you weren't going to be able to talk to her for a while.

Kate: Hey, Y/N.

You looked up from your phone and saw the girl standing in front of your desk. This was a bit odd since she didn't really talk to you if Felicia or Robbie were involved. Not that the two of you hated each other. It was more of the two of you just didn't have much in common to talk about. Kinda like trying to talk to your friend's girlfriend when you get left alone. It always felt a bit awkward.

Y/N: Hey. What's up?

Kate: Nothing. Ah, do you know where Robbie is? I tried to call him this morning but he didn't answer.

Oh. She wanted to talk about Robbie after all.

Y/N: He was already gone when I woke up. I don't know where he is.

Kate: Good.

She suddenly kicked Sam out of his seat, which was in front of yours, and took it for herself. She then leaned forward on the desk like she didn't want anyone else involved in this conversation. The thing about it was that you could now see down her shirt. Eyes up, Y/N. Eyes up.

Kate: I need to ask you something. You and Robbie are close, right?

You looked at her for a second before you locked your phone and slowly slid it back into your pocket.

Y/N: Yeah?

Kate: And, ah, do you guys talk about girls?

What was this? Why was she talking about you like you guys were 12 year olds with crushes?

Y/N: Not really. I mean, beside our friends....

Kate: I meant, like, crushes. Or checking people out.

Y/N: Kate, what are you....

Kate: Okay. Okay. I'll just cut to the chase.

Kate took a deep breath and slammed her hands on your desk which made you jump.

Kate: Does Robbie talk about me?

Y/N: What are you....

Suddenly, something began to happen to your body. Like a tingly feeling. It traveled around your body before it reached your head. You quickly lifted up your hand and caught the book that was about to hit you.

The entire class suddenly went dead silent when they saw you holding the textbook Widow was about to hit you with. You let go of it and Widow slowly pulled it away with a smile.

Widow: So, you finally caught it. Was I just louder today?

You looked across the room and saw Laura standing by the door. She must've seen what just happened. Was this another power?

Widow: Hello? You awake?

You snapped out of your thoughts and turned around.

Y/N: Uh, I just went to scratch my head. Guess I got lucky.

Widow looked at you for a moment before she shrugged and walked to her desk. Everyone fell back into conversation while you looked at your hand. It didn't even hurt. Yeah, this was getting to weird.

You stood up from your seat and walked over to Laura. Kate just sat there for a moment before she groaned.

Felicia: Get used to it, girl. He always runs. But, he does come back. He always comes back.

You walked to Laura and grabbed her arm before pulling her along with you put of the class. Once again, everyone fell silent. Felicia shot up to her feet.

Felicia: He goes after the angry one?!

You pulled Laura along with you before you found a place no one was. You then pulled her into the empty classroom before closing the door behind you.

Laura: What the hell, Y/N?

Y/N: We need to talk.

Laura: You couldn't wait until after school?

Y/N: I honestly can't go another day without some kind of idea what this is.

Laura crossed her arms and leaned against the wall.

Laura: Fine.

You sighed.

Y/N: Okay. Lately, I've been seeing things outside of my dreams. When I look at people, sometimes I see this weird haze around them. Like, a second memory or something.

Laura raised a brow.

Laura: You see that to?

Y/N: So it's not just me?

Laura: No. When I look at Kitty sometimes, I see it to. Hell, I just saw it when I looked at you.

She narrowed her eyes at you and looked at you from head to toe then back to look you in your eyes.

Laura: It's like I'm seeing two of you.

She then leaned forward so that her face was right in front of yours.

Laura: Think. Look at me and remember the way I looked in your dreams.

You tried to say something but Laura placed a finger to your lips.

Laura: Don't say anything. Think.

You closed your mouth as Laura took a step back. Right. Think. What did she look like in your dreams? Think.

You watched as the haze became more clear before you saw what she was talking about. Her clothes turned to a yellow uniform with a red X on her belt. Her hair became shorter and her eyes had an odd edge to them.

Y/N: Woah.

Laura: Do you see it?

Y/N: Yeah. Is this how the X-Men dressed?

Laura: I don't know. I think so.

You looked at her for a moment before you shook your head. Slowly, Laura returned to normal.

Y/N: And you can see me too?

Laura: Yeah. You look more....you look different.

You rubbed your eyes and looked at the clock in the room.

Y/N: Maybe we should head back. Class will start any minute now. Pretty sure I pissed Widow off when I caught her book.

Laura: Yeah, what was that?

Y/N: No idea.
------------
Widow: Alright, class. Time to move onto the affects of WWII. Let's start in Germany.

As Widow talked, you stared out the window. You had about 100 questions running through your mind but very little answers. The biggest one was, what the hell is happening? Besides that, you thought about the creature and the mysterious person that was at the school.

You were going to report it but Laura turned that idea down. You couldn't be sure it wasn't another person like you or her. Worse comes to worse, you'll have to fight them.

Regardless, you had other issues to worry about. Your eyes drifted over to Robbie's seat. He was still gone. Did he have something to do today? Did he have an appointment? On top of that, Kate was asking you questions about him.

Gwendolyn: Psst.

You snapped out of your thoughts and looked over to the blonde.

Gwendolyn: You alright? You seem kinda spacey.

You looked up to the front of the class to see Widow still teaching.

Y/N: Yeah. Hey, by any chance, have you seen Robbie today?

Gwendolyn: I think I saw him over at the garage this morning. Maybe he was fixing that piece of junk he calls a car?

That sounds about right. Robbie did always find solitude in that thing. It once belonged to his uncle before he was murdered in a drive by shooting. Ever since Robbie had been working on it. It was drivable but the A/C didn't work and there were still a few problems with the engine. You've lost count of how many times you had to help him push that thing back to school.

Molly actually always wanted to go for rides in it. Kate even convinced Robbie to take her for a drive or two. Then again, Kate could probably get Robbie to do just about anything for her.

Still, if he skipped class to work on it, he either had a major breakthrough or something serious is on his mind. Either way you should be there for him. He was your best friend and brother.

You felt something hit you and you looked down at the ball of paper. You looked up and saw Riri smirking. You picked up the paper and opened it up to find what looked like a kid's drawing.

It was two stick figures. The first one was F/C and had an arrow which was labeled as "You". The other was a blue one which was labeled as "Robbie". Robbie had a stoic face while you were frowning. Over both of the figures was "Bromance in Jeopardy".

You looked back up at Riri to see that she was once again paying attention to class. You looked back at the paper and crumbled it up before tossing it aside. When you weren't paying attention, Kamala slowly reached over and grabbed it.

Kamala: Fanfic idea.
----------
It was now after school and you found yourself walking through the courtyard. Tandy and Nadia might ask you questions later but right now you needed to find Robbie and make sure he was alright.

Robbie was a stubborn soul. He wouldn't tell you something was wrong if he didn't want to. He was good at hiding things. The only person in the world that could get him to open up about anything, it was his little brother, Gabe. Unfortunately, Gabe wasn't here. He was in East LA with their grandma.

You finally reached the garage where you immediately heard the old rock and roll playing loudly. You entered and found it empty save for one person.

Robbie was huntch over the engine of the 1969 Dodge Challenger. The radio played some Guns n' Roses song while he worked.

You set down your backpack and walked over to him. You knocked on the side of the car which caused him to look up. He had ditched his shirt and was now just wearing the white tank top which was just about covered in sweat. The A/C was broken in here. You almost forgot about that until you walked in.

Y/N: Yo.

Robbie just nodded and went back to work. Watching him work, you saw that something really was up. He only worked this blindly when he had something on his mind. You just leaned against the car with your arms crossed.

Y/N: You didn't go to school today.

Robbie: No. I didn't.

Y/N: I'm guessing you were here all day?

Robbie: Mostly.

You nodded as you sighed.

Y/N: I'm here if you want to talk. If not, I'll wait til you do.

Robbie looked at you for a moment before he returned to his work. Right. Waiting game it is.

Y/N: You know, Kate was asking about you. Asked if you ever talked about her.

Robbie: I don't.

Y/N: I know you don't. I'm with you most of the day. She was just asking.

Robbie: Well, I don't.

Y/N: I know.

You looked down at your feet before you looked at him again.

Y/N: Riri said our bromance is in Jeopardy and Kamala may or may not be writing a fanfic about us....again.

Robbie: She doesn't know when to stop, does she?

Y/N: To be fair, they're oddly good. Now I don't know if I would ever be a ninja instead of a pirate but "Love at High Seas" was still good plot wise.

Robbie was silent as he worked. Silence filled the room.

Robbie: I liked the "Mechanic's Dented Heart".

You both started to laugh at the terrible stories Kamala had a habit of writing about you and the others. Your favorite had to be "The Cafe of Wonders" which stared you and the others in a Cafe setting simply for the phase "Welcome to Hell, Mothafuckas". No idea why she wrote them. No one really questioned it anymore.

Robbie: I'm sorry if I made you worry, man. I just had a rough night. Didn't get much sleep. I needed to think.

He closed the hood and tossed his wrench in his toolbox. He then wiped his hands with his rag before he leaned on the car next to you.

Y/N: You wanna talk about it?

Robbie: Not really. I don't think I could really explain it.

Y/N: Hm. I get that.

Robbie walked over to his work space and pulled on his black shirt again. He walked over to you while you stood up.

Y/N: Want some caffeine? I'm guessing you're gonna stay up late anyways.

Robbie: Only if you're buying.

Y/N: Don't I always?
----------
You stood on the roof of the school with Laura as the sun looked just about ready to set. You had called her and asked her to meet you here so that you could try some things out.

Laura: You want to try and do what now?

Y/N: I want to summon those flames again. Those claws to.

Laura: Uh huh. Why?

You pulled off your jacket and tossed it aside while you looked at your arm.

Y/N: What if another creature shows up? What if someone else with superpowers attacks? You said it yourself, there's people out there that would use these powers to harm others.

Laura: We're not superheroes, Y/N. So get that out if your head. We aren't hunting these people down.

You reached out your arm as Laura watched.

Y/N: I'm not trying to be a hero. I'm also not going to let anyone hurt my friends and family.

Laura watched as you created a fist. Focus. Think about how you brought them into fruition. The way it felt. The way you felt.

Laura: This isn't going to....

Suddenly, there was a spark. You opened your eyes and a brilliant flame appeared in your hand. It was as big as your palm but you could do better. You focused your power a bit more and the flame began to expand.

Laura: Oh. I guess you do know what you're doing.

As you looked at the flame, your mind began to race. Faint memories played in your head. Like a VHS playing static. Yet, beyond the static, you could see something. Ideas. Friends. Family. Power.

You focused on you flame before it vanished and your hand felt cold. Laura watched with wide eyes as your entire hand was covered in ice.

Laura: Wha....

You then smirked as electricity broke the ice and danced around your fingertips. You then popped out your claws which were ignited in the fire.

Laura: How are you doing this?!

Y/N: I don't know. It just feels so, natural. Like I've done this a hundred times before.

Laura looked at her hand and created a fist. She focused hard before she suddenly found her claws. She looked at them in amazement. You were right. It felt so natural like she was breathing or blinking.

Laura: How did I do that? It was so easy. I tried to do this before but it didn't work.

She popped the claws back in then out again.

Y/N: Looks like things are easier if you just don't think, Laura.

Laura just glared at you.

Laura: Okay then. What's next?
----------
Robbie finished his coffee and tossed it towards the trash can. It didn't make it but he could just get it later. For now, he was going to get the A/C running.

Robbie: Damn thing.

He buried himself back into the engine and went back to working. The sun was setting which meant he should head back to the dorms soon. Widow was definitely going to lecture him about missing school but he could deal with that later.

He worked as the radio played in the background. He worked in peace before he heard the door open. He took a peek up, half expecting it to be you, bit was surpised when it was Felicia walking into the room.

Felicia: Hm. If I knew this was what was going on in here, I would visit more often~

Robbie rolled his eyes as Felicia walked over and hopped up on the nearby counter.

Robbie: Hey, Felicia. Did you need something?

Felicia: Depends on if you have the answers I'm looking for.

Robbie looked at her before he tossed down his tool. He leaned against the counter as he crossed his arms. He also began to snack on some jerky had had gotten earlier.

Robbie: Alright. What's up? Want some jerky?

Felicia purred as she looked at him.

Felicia: Just a few questions.

Robbie: Shoot.

Felicia: I guess the first one is, how do you feel about my best friend?

Robbie: Kate?

Felicia: That's the one.

Robbie: She's cool. A bit of a handful but in a fun way.

Felicia hummed before she leaned forward a bit.

Felicia: That's not what I mean.

Robbie: I'm not catching on.

Felicia narrowed her eyes at Robbie but not in an angry manner.

Felicia: You know what I mean.

Robbie just shrugged with a smirk.

Robbie: Maybe I do.

Felicia smiled.

Felicia: So you....

Robbie: Maybe. I'm not gonna give you a direct answer on this, though. I know you'll just go and tell her. Right now, I think I'm good with just being friends with her. I...I have a lot going on. I don't want her to get dragged into any of it.

Felicia's expression suddenly softened. Her and Robbie were pretty close to each other thanks to the fact that Kate liked him and Felicia liked you. The two of them were always together and in a way, they became good friends simply due to the amount of time they spent together.

Hell, Felicia was so close to you that Molly practically saw her as an older sister. Even though Felicia made you uncomfortable at times with her constant flirting, she was still a good friend of yours.

Felicia: Is everything alright, Rob?

Robbie nodded.

Robbie: Just some, stuff. Nothing too bad.

Felicia hopped off the counter and walked over to him. She placed a gentle hand on his shoulder and looked at him concerned.

Felicia: You know if something is up, you can talk to me. Y/N to. Even Kate.

Robbie gave her a small smile.

Robbie: Thanks. I mean it. Now you have something to ask so, what's up?

Felicia blushed a bit when she realized she was caught. She awkwardly rubbed the back of her neck and laughed.

Felicia: Y-Yeah.

Robbie: And I'm guessing it's about Y/N.

Felicia: Yep.

Robbie: Alright. What's up?

Felicia leaned against the counter next to Robbie.

Felicia: Is Y/N uncomfortable around me?

Robbie raised a brow. She didn't have that pep to her voice. She was actually concerned.

Robbie: What do you mean?

Felicia shifted a bit.

Felicia: Well, he always hangs out with Viv and Tandy and Nadia and Doreen and everyone else. On top of that, he spends time with them on his own. Whenever we hang out, you or Kate are there. Someone else is always there. Am I coming on top strong?

Robbie looked at her for a moment before he turned his attention back to his feet.

Robbie: You're definitely come on strong. Y/N is a pretty laid back person. He's creative. He's also a huge dork who has no game. I don't think that he's uncomfortable, he just doesn't know how to approach you. With Viv he can just talk about stupid things. Tandy and him both school nerds. Doreen is also a dork. Nadia and him can spend hours talking about science and Star Trek. I don't think he knows how to talk to you.

Felicia: But he does talk to girls. Even Riri and Gwendolyn. Hell, Gwen gets more time with him than I do!

Robbie looked at her surpised.

Robbie: You're really worrying about this. You want some advice?

Felicia nodded.

Robbie: Try not to think so much about it. Y/N is a dork. He's cool and he's my brother, but he's a dork. Maybe you should just talk to him. Stop hitting on him and just talk to him.

Felicia gave it some thought before she nodded.

Felicia: You know what? You're right. I think I'll give it a shot.

Robbie: Good. Now, not that I don't enjoy the company, I got work to do. You should head back before anyone starts asking questions.

Felicia playfully hit his shoulder before she stood up and walked towards the door.

Felicia: Thanks for the advice. And I'll make sure I keep Kate off your trail. For now, at least.

She stuck her tounge out with a wink while Robbie rolled his eyes. Felicia gave a quick wave and headed out of the garage. Robbie sighed and turned back to the car.

Robbie: Now, where was I?

He grabbed his tool and hunched over again to contiue where he left off. Instead, he felt his body grow hotter. He stood up and looked down at his body confused. It was happening again.

Robbie: I think I need to fix the A/C in the garage first.

He just sighed and went back to work. Instead, he felt his hand start to burn. He pulled it back quickly and looked at it confused.

Robbie: Did I just burn my hand? Nothing's running....

His eyes grew wide in horror when he saw the flames dancing around his hand. He screamed as he tripped backwards as his hand caught on fire. He looked at his hands as they burnt through the skin and down to bone. The pain was horrible yet comforting. The sight was horrid yet familiar.

Robbie: WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING?!
---------------
Y/N: I think we can call it a day now.

Laura let out a breath as she dropped to her knees. After getting a hang of your powers, you and her fell into a sparing match. After that, you tested the limits of your power by letting her cut you. Turns out you can heal like her to.

Laura: I don't think I had that hard of a work out since P.E. with Mr. Castle.

Y/N: They call him the Punisher for a reason.

You and Laura took a seat against the door that led to the stairs. It was actually kinda nice to have a break after a few hours of practice. Now you knew how Tandy and Nadia felt after swim team.

Laura: Hey.

You looked over to her.

Laura: When I was fighting, did it feel like you did this before?

You gave it some thought.

Y/N: Kinda. I guess this has to do with those dreams?

Laura: Maybe.

You sighed as you finally stood up. You pulled on your jacket and turned back to Laura.

Y/N: I'mma go check in on Robbie. He's been locked up in that garage all day. I'm going to try and get him to come out and get some sleep.

Laura: I can come with. I'm heading that way anyway.

You accepted her offer and held out a hand to help her to her feet. Both of you misjudged your own strength cause she slammed right into your chest. You stepped back and caught her while she regained her footing. Once she could stand on her own, the two of you realized how close you were. Laura pushed herself away from you and turned away.

Laura: D-Don't get any ideas!

Y/N: I didn't even say anything!

Laura: W-Whatever! Let's just go!

She grabbed her bag and swung open the door before she stomped off. You just groaned as you followed her.

Y/N: Why can't any of the women in my life be normal?

You and Laura reached the garage where you heard the heavy metal playing inside. Laura looked at you with a raised brow.

Y/N: He likes all kinds of music but rock is his work tunes.

Laura just shrugged and the two of you walked into the garage. The heat hit you immediately but you found it odd. It was later in the afternoon so it should be cooler by now.

You found out the reason for the mysterious heat when you and Laura entered the garage. Your eyes went wide when you spotted Robbie, on fire, with his skin melting off.

Y/N: Robbie?!

Robbie: HELP ME!

You rushed forward while Laura raced to the fire extinguisher. You summoned some ice in your hand and tried to cool him down but the fire just melted the ice away. Robbie let out a loud cry which caused the flames to erupt even more. You watched as the flames melted the skin from his face as his skull came into view.

Laura raced over with the fire extinguisher and began to spray it on Robbie but it didn't do anything. If anything, the fire got worse.

Laura: What do we do?!

Y/N: I don't know!

Robbie cried out as the flames surrounded his entire body. He was now completely a skeleton but he wasn't dead.

You and Laura watched as Robbie stopped screaming in pain. Slowly, Robbie rose to his feet as you felt a sudden sting in your head. You knew this. This was Robbie. Robbie Reyes. The Ghost Rider!

Robbie: Now this, this is more like it. It's been too long, old friend.

Robbie looked around the room before he spotted what he was looking for. He walked over to the wall and pulled down a stray chain that was hanging there. He examined it before he swung it around so that it wrapped around his body.

The Spirit of Vengeance. You could see him now. You could remember everything. From meeting him in the desert to you forming the Strikers!

Y/N: R-Robbie.

Robbie: I remember so much. But, but enough. Blanks. Static. But I know who I am. I know who you are. Monster and Laura. My, my family.

Slowly, the flames began to dissapear and Robbie returned to normal. A white streak was now in his hair while his eyes looked darker. He looked at his hands before he turned to you and Laura.

Robbie: The hell is going on? Why did I forget the Rider? Why am I remembering things that never happened?

You and Laura looked at each other for a moment.

Y/N: You might want to sit down. Things are gonna get weird. Basically, I think I messed up.
