Chapter 1: The Dalamadur

At the top of the highest mountain, the grey skies, the clouds of hidden mysteries, Speartip Crag, A location many do not return from. One man, a hunter, was walking along the shredded stone that was the floor of this mountain. The area was open with a few cliffs leading up and down and one large pillar reaching to the heavens. The steam from a hot spring at the base of the large pillar rose into the air like it was escaping to the heavenly realm above. The man took gentle steps along the stone, respecting every pebble, his bright yellow eyes looking at the pillar and tracking it as he walked. There was no unnatural movement around, nor was there any sound. It was unpleasant but then again the hunter did not arrive at this mountain to be at peace. He was on the hunt for a beast of massive size, scale, and power. The strange thing is, he could not find it. He did not think a beast rumored to form entire ecosystems upon it death would be hard to find but he had to keep an open mind, monsters were not just mindless beasts, especially Elder Dragons. He continued to search the area, only able to hear his own breath in his Rathalos helmet. After climbing up one ledge that lead closer to the speartip pillar, the ground started to aggressively shake with no warning. All the shaking made the hunter off balance and he fell to one knee with a wobble. But his attention went to the speartip pillar when he noticed that it was moving like a serpent. It started spinning, twisting and curling. The hunter was not sure if the beast was just moving on its own or if it knew of his presence. The hunter stood back to his feet but he was quickly knocked back down when a large blue scaly talon barely missed in crushing him. He stood back to his feat as he watched the massive lower half of the monster slither along the rocks. With his eyes, he followed the beast until he noticed the serpents face appeared from the clouds. its scales, blue and black in color, its eyes redder then blood. The hunter could just stare at this majestic creature in awe as it moved around the rocks. It was not long until the great serpent noticed him, its eyes staring straight though him. The hunter and this beast locked eyes and the hunter drew his Longsword from its sheath. He was about to face Dalamadur, The Serpent King Dragon. This hunter had no help with him, he was alone but he had faith in his skills to defeat Dalamadur. Dalamadur slammed its claw down, sharpened them against the stone and stared intensely at the hunter before letting out an ear piercing screech. Without hesitating, the hunter dashed with his longsword as his side. Dalamadur attacked first with its huge claws, trying to crush the hunter with brute force. The Hunter dodged it with ease by dashing to the side, he counter attacked the large monsters claw casing blood to spray quite a bit but the beast did not at all seem bothered by it. After the counter attack, he continued forward, towards the monsters body. Before he could get any closer though, the claw slammed down once again, blocking his path. The hunter quickly jumped back to avoid any debris from the slam but the serpent quickly followed the slam but trying to eat the hunter with its large mouth. It crushed at him, its teeth sparking and venom spiting with every snap of its jaws. The hunter was able to avoid the attacks with a few back steps, a back handspring, and a dodge roll to safety. The Dalamadur did not stop its attacks, its mouth started to heat to with a blue fire. The hunter did not know what this meant but he did not want to find out, so he rushed towards the head of the Dalamadur and grabbed onto its right eye lid which was perfect grip. The blue flame vanished and the serpent started to attempted to shake the hunter off his face. It did not shake violently though, just a few quick head tilts. The hunter tried to climb onto the top of the serpents head but as soon as he crossed over the serpents eye, it used it blue tongue to lick him off. With one touch, the hunter felt an overwhelming jolts of electricity flow though is body and he could not move. He fell right off the monsters head and fell over a hundred feet down back to the floor of the mountain. The fall left a small crater in the ground and the hunter still could not move, but he did notice the Dalamadur approach him with the fire blue fangs. He tried to nudge his body to move but no use. The serpent got closer and closer and closer and just as it was about to crush the hunter, he gain control of his body once again and rolled away just as the serpent slammed its face into the ground. The serpent, confused, was suddenly attacked with several slashes to the face. The Dalamadur was more surprised then it was in pain. The hunter tried to continue his combo slashes but Dalamadur pushed him away with another screech, and being that close to the source of the screech made the hunters ears ring. The screech caused him to lose focus, and become off balance which ended him up falling off one of the ledges. He was able to land on his feet and he regained his focus to noticed one of Dalamadurs claws coming to crush him. He was able to jump in-between the claws to avoid such a death and was able to slash up his clash one more as he did so. The hunter then noticed the large chest spike of the beast, so he charged it because it was the closes target. He began to slash, cut, and swipe at the large chest spike and it seemed to be casing the serpent huge amounts of distress. Now annoyed and angry, the serpents mouth started to heat up once again but this time it was forming a flaming blue fire ball. With a large amount of recoil, the serpent fired the ball towards the hunter. The ball was quick which caught the hunter off guard. He tried to block some of the blast with his Longsword but it was not very effective. The impact against the sword punished the hunter, sending him flying into the stone ledge. In the moment, the serpent did not foresee his ignorance. His flaming burst hit his own chest spike as well as the hunter, but the major blast caused its chest spike to shatter which brought overwhelming pain to the serpent. So much pain in fact, that the Dalamadur plopped its face onto the ground barely conscious, its body gone limp. The hunter was able to recover to his feet and stand holding his now majorly damaged blade. He knew he was in danger but he had to chance to at least damage the serpent, and his first idea was to go for its eye to inflict more serious pain. He quickly rushed towards the serpents still head which was laying against the ground, his Longsword at his side. He jumped from another ledge with great height, pointed the sword downwards, and was about to pierce its eye. But to his surprise, Dalamadur quickly awoke, full conscious, and reacted without hesitation. It opened it mouth to the largest it could be so the hunter would easily fall in. The hunter now between the two jaws of the beast, turned his sword sideways and just as the jaws slammed shut, the blade of the Longsword penetrated the entire bottom of the serpents jaw, which caused it great pain. The hunter let go of his weapons so that he could fall from between the jaws and land onto the safety of the ground but now he had no weapon. Dalamadur rose into the air, snapping the longsword into two with the hilt falling to the ground. However, the blade was still in the mouth, suck in its lower jaw. The hunter grabbed the hilt that fell to the ground and sheathed it anyway, despite there being no blade. Dalamadur was now enraged at this pest that was a hunter and was ready to finish him. The Dalamadur charged head first screeching towards the hunter, mouth wide open. The hunter was able to dodge the mouth but the sheer force of impact that it caused completely shattered the ground, making the hunter lose his balance. And with no warning, the claws from Dalamadur predicted the hunters movement and sliced his left arm clean off while in the air. The impact caused the hunter to fall onto a different part of ground. He was now laying on the floor, holding the stump that was his left arm, trying to keep his blood inside it. He watched as Dalamdur appeared from the cloud once again, shaking off rock that where still rolling off its face. Standing to his feet, the hunter reached into he pouch, pulled out a healing potion and drank the entire thing in seconds, The healing power of this potion relieved some of the pain and stopped the bleeding, but he was still armless and weakened. Breathing heavily, the hunter remembered that the blade of his sword was in the mouth of the serpent. He did not think he was going to survive at all after loosing his arm. But what he could do was die with a fight. He turned to his left and noticed the lower half of the Dalamadur which was a good distance lower then where he was and without hesitating, jumped from the ground to lower half. He landed onto the scales of the serpent and started to run towards its head. Dalamadur of course saw this and could feel the steps along his scales. It screeched and started to spin and rise into the air to knock the hunter off of him. But he was able to hole on to its scales and climb up them with one arm as it ascended into the air. It kept rising and screeching into the sky. The wind was all most able to knock the hunter off but he held on and kept climbing after several hundred feet into the air, Dalamadur stop spinning and searched for the hunter but it could not find him on his body. it searched to his left side and his right but could find nothing when suddenly he felt movement on the top of his head and he screeched annoyed. But the open mouth is what the hunter wanted, with all his bravery, he jumped into the serpents mouth. Before Dalamadur could react, the hunter pulled the blade from the lower part jaw of the beast. The blade cutting into his fingers as he held it, the hunter started to slash all around the mouth of the serpent and even slicing its blue tongue in half. Its blood filled its own mouth as it screeched and jolted its body in unpredictable directions. Because of these directions, the hunter fell out of its mouth and into the air, covered in the serpents blood. He was still in the air as he fell, knowing that he could not survive this fall, it was too great a fall. But he watched as Dalamadur squirmed around, slamming its head into the pillar, screeching in pain. When Dalamadur regained control over itself, he saw the hunter falling into the clouds below. With pure rage, the Dalamadur charged straight towards him wanting to finish the hunter off. As Dalamadur reached closer and closer, it would open its mouth more and more. The hunter watched as Dalamadur grew closer and the blue flames in its mouth started to ignite. The hunter smirked under his helmet, as he dropped the blade of his Longsword and reached into his pouch pulling out a small barrel bomb. He had to wait for the perfect moment. Just as the Dalamadur was about to crunch down on him, the hunter feeling the heat of Dalamadur's breath, threw the small barrel bomb into the serpents mouth. The flames from the serpents mouth ignited the gunpower in the barrel bomb inside the serpents mouth setting off and explosion. The explosion from the barrel bomb was small but it was just a start to set off a huge explosion, covering the entire Dalamadurs face in smoke and fire. Loud booms could be hear from all across the sky as Dalamadurs head flew backwards into the skyand away from the hunter. With closed eyes, the hunter continued to fall into the clouds below and disappear. Dalamadur retreated back into the Speartip crag laying on the hard ground with a destroyed mouth and most of its face. After gaining safety back on the ground, it immediately fell into deep slumber, exhausted from this one battle. The hunter knew he won this battle but he knew that it was not over for that serpent. As for himself, he was not sure. But in the meantime, he just listened to the sound of wind pass his ears as he fell, accepting death when ever it chose to take him.
