Chapter 20

"Jimin!" I barreled after the little angel as the last bell of the school day rung. "Jimin!"

"Hm?" He turned around, his eyes innocently widening. His lips curled into a chaste smile, and he positively radiated purity.

Bullshit.

"Your girlfriend is really pretty, you know," I cooed, smirking a little. He fidgeted nervously and looked down. His snowy cheeks were reddening by the second. How cute.

"She is..." he mumbled.

"How did you ask her out?" I nudged him playfully as we left the classroom. "I would've thought you'd be too intimidated."

"I was a little," he admitted, smiling softly, "but I've never felt this way before, so I wanted to make sure the feeling didn't disappear."

"Oh my God, Jiminnie!" My mouth dropped wide open, and I stared at my best friend in complete awe. "Why are you so cute?!"

"Isn't he?" giggled a girl off to my right. I turned to see a shorter girl beam up at me. Her hair was neatly curled, and her makeup was simple but pretty. Her voice was a melodic lower mezzo-soprano, and she smiled up at me with cheerful ease.

It was the girl.

"Hi, I'm Miyoung!" she chirped up at me, waving. She nodded towards Jimin. "He really is adorable, isn't he?"

"O-Oh, you're the girl!" I exclaimed. "Nice to meet you, I'm Sori!"

"I know," she answered, letting loose a light chuckle. "How could I not hear about you?"

I laughed slightly nervously in response. I already liked her. She suited Jimin, and I could tell he really liked her just by the way he looked at her. It felt unbelievably satisfying and relieving that Jimin finally had found something he never could've had in the past. Now, his happiness depended on other people, and I trusted Miyoung to care for it.

"Sori!" I turned my head to see Taehyung approach. He eyed Jimin and Miyoung for a second before raising an eyebrow at Jimin.

"Who knew you could get a cute girlfriend?" he deadpanned.

Jimin feigned hurt and dropped his jaw in mock offense.

"Of course I'm going to get a girlfriend as cute as me!" he retorted.

"That's insulting to your girlfriend," Taehyung answered. "She's way cuter."

Turning his attention to Miyoung, Taehyung said, "Hi, I'm Taehyung. If this guy gives you any trouble, just come to me."

She giggled. "I'm Miyoung, and alright, I definitely will," she replied with good nature.

"Now if you'll excuse us," began Jimin, huffing and taking Miyoung's arm, "we have places to be."

"With us, surely?" Taehyung started forward teasingly, smirking slightly.

Jimin pouted. "No, without you!" he puffed, walking away with his girlfriend in tow.

Taehyung and I stared after them before looking at each other. Taehyung was shuddering lightly as he withheld a few snickers, and I was nearing a grin. Ah, how cute of them.

"Adorable," Taehyung remarked, taking my hand and walking in the opposite direction. "Jimin's so cute when he's flustered, isn't he?"

"When is he not so cute, though?" I added, smiling. "That was just extra cute."

"Hi, Sori!" called a somewhat familiar voice in the hallway. I turned to see the pack of a dozen or so football players crowded around the lockers. One of the shorter ones was waving at me. I hesitantly waved back.

"Hey, what are you planning?" called Taehyung, making me go beet red. "You can't throw a girl into a janitor's closet and then act like nothing has happened after she's the school hero!"

"Aw, but look at him, he doesn't look mean, does he? I think he's genuinely being nice." I tugged at Taehyung's sleeve, nodding at the boy who waved. His eyes were blank with pure innocence, and his expression was full of childish bliss. How a kid like that ended up on the football team, I would never know.

Taehyung grumbled something under his breath before continuing down the hall. I sighed.

"Oh, c'mon, isn't it cool that people are finally being pleasant towards me?" I tried, nudging his shoulder.

"Yeah, but they didn't even apologize for that one time," Taehyung replied saltily.

"That's true," I noted. "But hey! Now they're nice, aren't they?"

"Well everyone should be," Taehyung answered. "You basically saved all of their lives."

I said nothing, not knowing how to reply to that. Taehyung slipped his hand into mine, and we walked out of the school. I turned my head to see Jungkook a little behind us. He was wearing saucer sunglasses and had stopped to rummage in his backpack, pulling out a giant black umbrella. He raised it over his head and opened it, the shade engulfing him completely.

"Hi, Jungkook!" I called, giggling a little at his umbrella. He nodded and continued off.

"Thank God you changed back before you turned out like him," Taehyung mumbled.
