Haunted Mansion
You stared at a strange device before you. It looked like a skateboard, your skateboard to be precise, but it didn't have wheels. It was just the board. Kinda. It was a bit thicker and the sides were now lit a red colour.
Y/N: So, are you sure that this will work?
You looked back to the one responsible for this strange contraption. You were currently in the dormroom of Robecca, Venus, and Rochelle who were all watching the table of Robecca's newest invention.
Robecca: Of course! I think. Maybe.
Robecca Steam, a classmate and friend of yours, lifted up a small remote and pressed a button. The skateboard whirled to life and began to hover off the table.
Venus: Wow. I honestly didn't think it would get up.
Venus smirked at her own joke which you also giggled a bit at. The other two seemed a bit confused. Of course, it made sense. Robecca was a robot without any real anatomy of any kind and Rochelle was a gargoyle who reproduced by......actually, why am I explaining this? You're gonna wanna bang them anyway, so what does it even matter?
Rochelle: So, what do you have to do now?
Robecca: We need to test it. What good is a hoverboard if you can't ride it?
That was when all eyes landed onto you. It was your board after all. You shrugged and picked the board up, walking over to the balcony where you stepped out into the chill air. Winter was ending soon, but the cold was still there. You hopped up on the railing and held the hoverboard.
Robecca: Uh, Y/N? Maybe you shouldn't just jump off from this hi....
You did not listen, because you were a stud. You didn't need anyone telling you what you should and shouldn't do. You were a monster hunter, and you've dealt with worse.
Or so you thought.
You jumped from the balcony and placed the board under your feet to break the fall. However, it did not break your fall. It did, however, break something else. You heard a crack and you were suddenly zooming off into the sky as the trio watched from their dorms.
You scream caused a few other students to look up as you zipped, slid, zoomed, and held on for dear life.
Draculaura, Deuce, Cleo, Clawdeen, and Frankie were all in class listening to some boring lecture. However, they all lifted their heads after they thought they heard you yelling as you passed by the window. They all looked out as you slammed into the glass. Everyone watched as you were slowly dragged across the window. You spotted your friends and waved before you were right back at it on a runaway board.
Rochelle: It seems like your device is working.
Robecca: I mean, technically it is.
Venus: That's nice and all, but how do we stop it before Helsing dies?
Robecca pulled out the remote and pressed a button. You heard the board suddenly get quieter before you were at a standstill. You looked down and looked back to your side, holding up a sign that simply read "Gulp" before you began to free fall.
Y/N: WaaaaaaHHHHHHHHHHHH!
The ground began to quickly approch and you knew that this will hurt a lot. You also didn't have any blood on you, so any abilities that could save you weren't at your disposal. Or, so you thought.
Rochelle flew off the balcony and quickly caught you while the board smashed into the ground. Rochelle smiled and looked at you.
Rochelle: Look at you, falling for moi.
The gesture was nice, and you weren't dead, but Rochelle was still a gargoyle and made of stone, so you were still definitely in a great amount of pain when she finally realized that you were groaning.
Rochelle: Oh. Hehe, oops.
Deuce: Look, I'm just saying, if you drank the blood from two monsters, you would be twice as strong.
Y/N: And I'm just saying, that's not how that works.
You and Deuce sat in the library, studying for an upcoming exam. It was mostly empty, really only having maybe two other people around. One was asleep and the other had their headphones in, so Deuce decided he could start making theories on your Bloodfiend abilities.
Deuce: Oh, hey, I think I know how you're a Bloodfiend too.
You sighed, resting your cheek on your fist as you read.
Y/N: And how is that, bud?
Deuce: Well, you're from another world, right? And Dracula said that magic exists there. Since magic is gone from our world, maybe your parents had magic.
Y/N: They did. Jadis is my mom, remember?
Deuce: I know, but just hear me out.
You looked to him.
Deuce: That magic transfered over to you, meaning you actually have magic, meaning you were never a normie to begin with. And Elizabat's blood just activated it and now you're a Bloodfiend. Maybe you could actually learn stuff like spells.
You just stared at him. You awkwardly looked away before looking back to him.
Y/N: Uh, bud?
Deuce: Yeah?
Y/N: All of this was already established. Plus, I can't learn any spells cause there's no more witches or magic users or records of spells. Magic hasn't been around for a while.
Deuce stared off into space for a second. He then smiled.
Deuce: Oh yeah. I forgot.
You sighed. He was your best friend. You loved him like a brother.
Dracula: You two give me a headache.
You and Decue both turned around to find Dracula himself standing behind you. Your kinda Guardian along with your uncle, Vincent Van Helsing. He was also the acting director for School Activities. Kinda like the Headmaster, but his focus wasn't really on the educational side of things.
Dracula: I have a new student for you to find.
His main focus was to gather students to go to Monster High, following an incident that you may or may not have been partially responsible for. And now, it was your job to find these students and recruit them. Give them a safe place to go away from the Anti-Monster Groups.
Deuce: Oh sick.
Dracula: Not you.
Deuce: Oh shoot.
Dracula turned back to you.
Dracula: Take whoever you want, but this one needs to study. If he doesn't get at least an 80% on this exam he'll fail the class. And I do not want to be stuck with him any longer than I need to.
Decue: Why are you so mean to me?
Dracula: How are you so bad at math?
Deuce: It makes my brain hurt!
You just looked between the two of them.
Y/N: R-ight. So what is this new student situation?
Dracula turned back to you.
Dracula: Hm? Oh, yes.
He handed you a folder which you took a look at.
Dracula: She's a daughter of a friend of your uncle's and I. Her name is Twyla Boogeyman.
Deuce: Boogeyman? Like, the actual Boogeyman?
Dracula just stared at him for a moment in silence. He then turned back to you.
Dracula: On second thought, take him. I won't be able to deal with him for much longer.
Deuce: What did I do to you?!
You closed the folder and stood up. You grabbed your vest and throw it on before pulling out your phone.
Y/N: I'll be tutoring him while we're there. I'll also get a small group together to make it a bit easier on ourselves.
Dracula: Just be careful.
He vanished in a puff of smoke while you sent out the text. Time to assemble your team!
-------------
Y/N: Seriously? This is it?
Standing in front of you were only two of the people you texted. Draculaura and Frankie.
Frankie: Yeeeah, sorry. Everyone else was busy.
Draculaura: Lagoon is in San Freakcisco for a swim meet and Clawdeen is helping her parents get the Bed and Breakfast ready for their seasonal opening.
You sighed.
Y/N: What about Abbey?
Deuce's phone went off and he pulled it out to see that Abbey responded in the group chat.
Deuce: Abbey just said, uh, "tell him I am not going".
Y/N: I really need more friends. Where's Cleo?
----------
Cleo hummed to herself as she tried on a new outfit while her servant groaned, currently carrying about 120lbs. of bags filled with clothes.
----------
The four of you stood there awkwardly before you snapped out of it.
Y/N: Whatever. This will have to do.
Elissabat: For what?
You all turned to see Elissabat herself, yes the movie star, walking towards you.
Oh yeah. And she's your kinda sorta girlfriend. You still haven't really talked about it, but you also...didn't....really want to.
I know, I know. It seems bad. But the truth was, neither of you were really ready for that conversation. You both liked each other, you both knew you liked each other, but life was pulling you both in different directions. She was the Vampire Queen, ruler of all vampires. You burnt yourself making cereal this morning. It was just not the right time in either of your lives.
No shame.
No shame at all.
Deuce: We're about to head out to find the Boogeyman's daughter.
Elissabat: Oh. So, you're off on another mission?
She turned to you. You gave a curt shrug. She was probably going to ask you to go somewhere after school. But, that did give you an idea.
Y/N: Well, you could always tag along. It might be a bit dangerous, but as your Royal Protector and Lord of the Vampire Court, I will make sure that you're safe the entire time.
You proudly posed which made her smile a bit. Frankie watched the two of you and forced a small smile. She thought the two of you were cute, but she did kinda envy you both. She wanted a relationship of her own and her track record wasn't exactly the best.
Actually, now that she was thinking about it, she came to realize that she was actually the only one without a relationship of any kind. A lone tear drop rolled down her cheek.
Elissabat: I mean, if you trust me to help, then I'd be happy to.
You nodded and pulled out the Monster Mapalouge.
Y/N: Alright, everyone. Hands in.
Everyone began to pile their hands ontop of the stone.
Y/N: Twyla Boogeyman, Extro Monstum.
You all suddenly vanished from Monster High and reappeared........about 10 feet off the ground.
All: AHHH!
You all crashed into the street in a pile followed by a series of groans. You got up and helped Elissabat to her feet while the others stood up, rubbing their injured limbs and heads.
Draculaura: Ow. Why does that always happen?
Y/N: You know, we actually had a good streak of not getting hurt.
Frankie: Uh, guys?
You all looked to your friend, only to realize what she had when you saw your surroundings.
Frankie: Where are we?
You were all standing in the middle of what seemed to be an abandoned street surrounding by houses that appeared to have been untouched for decades. An eerie feeling, a sense of dread, hung in the air while the streetlights flickered and buzzed, small bugs flying around them. The street itself was cracked and the smell of what seemed like decomposing meat lingered. A fog hung low, up to your ankles.
Bad things happened here.
Deuce: Oh my Satan, we're in Detroit.
You all gave him a look.
Deuce: Tell me I'm wrong. I dare you.
Well, he wasn't entirely wrong, but the damage wasn't due to the government abandoning it's people. You honestly didn't know what happened here. But the real target was the house that you landed in front of.
A large home that resembled more of a mansion than a house.
Frankie: Is Twyla really here?
Y/N: Only one way to find out.
You turned back to the group and crossed your arms.
Y/N: I think this will be easier if we split up.
Draculaura: Why did you say that? Don't you know that's the one thing you don't say in these situations?
Elissabat: I was once killed in a movie after saying exactly that.
You mumbled under your breath before thinking of how to make the groups. There were five of you. That would mean you'd have to make a group of three and one of two. Or, maybe two groups of two and you could go at it alone. However, considering you weren't a complete moron, you would absolutely not be doing that.
But, this could also be a good chance to get some alone time with Elissabat to maybe talk about stuff that you definitely needed to talk about.
Y/N: Okay, how about....
Deuce: I call dibs on Y/N!
All: Huh?!
Frankie grabbed Deuce by his vest and began to shake him in anger.
Frankie: You're planning on leaving girls to fend for themselves in a place like this?!
Deuce: Well, yeah. Women equality.
Frankie: NOW ISN'T THE TIME FOR EQUALITY!
She began to shake him even harder while you and the two vampires watched. You turned to Draculaura and pointed at the two.
Y/N: Can you....
Draculaura: Yeah, sure.
She walked over to your friends to get them to stop while you and Elissabat shared a look. You both turned and started down the street to begin your search.
--------------
Frankie used her phone as a light to look through the empty house while Deuce checked under the couch and Draculaura examined the pictures that were left behind. Judging by the style of the clothes the people were wearing, the last time anyone lived here was the 50's or so.
Deuce: Dude, this place smells like rotten fruit.
Frankie: It does. But, I haven't found any food. Actually, this whole house is surprisingly empty.
It was true. Besides some furniture and the pictures, there really wasn't anything here. This wasn't a rushed move. But, if they were that through about getting some things, why leave behind the pictures? And what was that smell?
Draculaura: We should check upstairs.
The trio headed to the stairs. Deuce took a step, felt the wood immediately give way, and sighed.
Deuce: Son of a bi....
The two girls watched as Deuce fell through the trapdoor with a scream. They both looked into the hole and waited to hear him hit the ground below, but nothing came from it.
Frankie: Uh...Deuce?
------------
You and Elissabat walked through the grounds of the home. The dirt felt weird and the fog bit at your skin as the chill made your skin crawl. Granted, you were already naturally cold due to the fact that you no longer had blood to keep you warm.
I guess you could say.....
The cold never really bothered you anyway.
And no, I will not apologize.
Elissabat held her hands behind her back and kept eyeing you out of the corner of her eye. She also wanted to talk to you about your current relationship status.
Elissabat: So...uh, life.
You nodded.
Y/N: Life is good. I like being alive. Having been dead, I like life.
Elissabat: Oh yeah, you did die.
She forgot about that. Granted, you didn't really die, but you did lose all of your blood, your heart was destroyed, and you met what you think might have been an angel or something.
Elissabat: Anyway, do you think we could talk about something?
You stopped and turned to each other.
Y/N: You know, I was hoping to ask you the same thing.
You were happy that she was the one who brought it up.
Elissabat brushed some hair behind her ear.
Elissabat: It's about, our relationship. Or, uh, lack of one.
Y/N: Oh, perfect.
Elissabat tilted her head.
Elissabat: P-Perfect?
You quickly realized what you said and shook your head.
Y/N: Sorry. I didn't mean it like...I also wanted to talk to you about that. I, uh, I never gave you an answer, what with me feeling my mother.....doing.....whatever it was she was doing. And I've been a bit busy since, so we never really had the chance to.....yeah.
Elissabat blinked. You sighed and looked away for a second to regather your thoughts. During that time, the tree behind Elissabat opened just as she tried to lean against it, causing her to fall backwards. Her scream was blocked by the tree closing again just as you turned back around.
You stared at the tree for a moment before looking around the area.
Y/N: Elissabat? Where'd you go?
Just then, a strike of lighting was followed by thunder
-----------
Draculaura yelped and grabbed onto Frankie as they looked down the hallway of the second floor. The red carpet that lined the wooden floors was illuminated by the lighting outside. The wallpaper was peeling and the wood under it was weathered and rotting. The two ghouls were now officially scared.
A hard feat, honestly.
But seeing as their friend was swallowed by a staircase in a creepy house and they had no real way to defend themselves from any possible danger, who could really blame them.
They would've gone down to the basement, but there was no way to do so unless they wanted to jump into the hole themselves. And who in their right mind would do something so stupid?
Draculaura: Why can't someone be hiding in some place like a boutique or a ski louge?
Frankie: Because that would be too easy. I really need to stop helping Helsing with this stuff.
Another roar of thunder caused the two to jump again. But what really did them in was when a hand suddenly grabbed Frankie's shoulder. The two girls screamed and bolted down the hallway, Frankie's arm having been torn off by whatever had touched her. Draculaura found herself tripping on the carpet and falling while Frankie stopped to try and help her. However, the strike if lighting casted a glow around a shadowy figure that stood over Draculaura.
This was it. This was her end. It was a good 15999 years.
Y/N: Can you stop screaming?
You stepped into the light of Frankie's phone holding her arm. The two were immediately met with a sense of relief.
Frankie: Oh, it's just you. Boy are we happy to....
Y/N: I haven't even begun to feast yet.
Your body suddenly expanded in a mess of flesh, sharp rows of teeth, and tentacles with an inhuman growl. The ghouls started to scream again and ran down the hall as the monster began to give chase, knocking over whatever stood in it's way.
The two ran as quickly as they could before Frankie spotted an open door. The two ran into the room and slammed the door closed behind them. Draculaura immediately threw down a bookshelf in front of the door to try and help barricade themselves.
The two backed into the corner and watched as the doorknob began to shake rapidly. They held each other as they shook.
Draculaura: It's okay. It can't open the door. The bookshelf will block it.
Suddenly, the door opened outwards towards the hallway. The monster stood there with it's sharp teeth in full display.
???: You done messed up. You done messed up big time.
Draculaura: Aw man.
???: Now take this L.
The Monster leaped at them with a growl. Their screams echoed through the house.
-----------
Your head perked up when you heard their screams. You looked around as you stood in the middle of the ballroom. You used your phone to look around for any trace of your friends. Something was wrong, and those screams had just confirmed it.
Y/N: Why can't it ever be something nice like a boutique or a ski louge? Why is it always a creepy house or an abandoned factory or that Chuck-E-Cheese in Aurora, Colorado?
If you know, you know.
You began to make your way towards the screams but stopped suddenly. You had sensed something in the room with you. You looked around as you balled your fist, ready for a fight. You even began to reach back to grab a thing of blood.
???: Leave now, or suffer the consequences.
You looked up with wide eyes.
Y/N: God? Is that you?
???: Go..no. This is not God.
Y/N: I dunno. You kinda sound like God.
???: How do I sound like God? Wait, no, scratch that, how do you know what God sounds like?
Y/N: I died once. I think I met him.
???: There is a lot to unpack there.
Y/N: You have no idea.
The booming voice went quiet for a moment.
???: Are you okay?
Y/N: Depends. Emotionally, Physically, or Mentally? Cause the answer is no to all of those.
???: Dude.
Y/N: I know.
The room suddenly shook as the chandelier above you began to fall. You quickly rolled out of the way, avoiding the impact. You flipped onto your feet and quickly leaped over the piano that was thrown towards you.
You landed and quickly looked around for the source of the attack. You took a moment to regain your composure before you made a break for the door. You entered the main hallway and quickly headed for the stairs. The trapdoor opened, but you were able to leap onto the railing and sprint up to the second floor. You flipped off and landed in the hall.
???: Woah. That was cool.
Y/N: Thanks.
You quickly continued to run down the hallway as the windows began to rattle and books began to fly off the shelf towards you. You managed to dodge a few, but others did hit you. You grunted as you jumped into a room. You quickly scrambled to your feet and held your fists up. But, everything had suddenly gone quiet.
You stood there for a moment confused.
???: Hey, can you, uh, not be in that particular room?
You raised your brow. You looked around and realized you were in a bedroom. A....girl's bedroom?
Y/N: And why is that?
???: No reason. Just, you know.
You slowly lowered your guard and stood straight. You crossed your arms and gave it some thought.
Y/N: Wait a second. Twyla? Twyla Boogeyman?
???: W-Who is that? I have never heard that name before.
You, however, had already made your way to the wall and flipped on the lightswitch. The room was suddenly illuminated to reveal the girl's bedroom with a dark aura coming from under the bed.
Y/N: Twyla?
From under the bed came half a face. The girl seemed intimated by your presence. Totally fair, honestly.
Y/N: Uh, Dracula sent me to find you.
The girl crawled out from under the bed and finally fully revealed herself to you.
Twyla: Mr. Dracula? He sent you?
You nodded. You crossed your arms.
Y/N: My name is Y/N Van Helsing.
Twyla: Helsing? Is Mr. Van Helsing your father?
You felt your eye twitch a bit. Why did that just hit a nerve?
Y/N: Uh, my uncle, actually.
Twyla: And those other people, are they your friends?
You nodded.
Y/N: Speaking of them, can I have them back?
Twyla: Oh, yeah. Sorry.
She lifted a hand and her closet swung open, making your friends spill out in a pile. Frankie's arm crawled across the floor and reattached itself to it's owner.
As everyone got to their feet, all groaning from their experiences, you turned back to Twyla.
Y/N: I'm guessing you're not used to having guests?
Twyla poked her fingers together awkwardly with a deep purple blush across her cheeks. She seemed....shy. Wasn't the Boogeyman her father? Seemed a bit counterproductive.
Twyla: I'm sorry. I didn't know....I....sorry.
She began to shake.
Y/N: Oh Satan is she about to cry?
She sniffed.
Y/N: Oh Satan she's crying.
You lifted your hands.
Y/N: Hey, hey. It's alright. No one got hurt.
Frankie: Ahem.
You turned to your friends who have definitely seen better days. You turned back to the younger girl.
Y/N: No one died. And, hey, we technically broke into your house.
The others mumbled in agreement. You walked over to the girl and smiled.
Y/N: But, the reason why we're here, might be something you're interested in.
After some explaining, and some apologing, you managed to get Twyla to agree to go to Monster High. And though the day could've gone much better, you still counted this as a win.
Deuce: I'm going to need therapy after this.
All: Agreed.
