Ragged Regrets
You stretched and let out a yawn, finally happy with how your dorm looked. You would be staying with Dracula during the weekends, like some of the others did, but you decided to bite the bullet and stay in the dorms during the weekdays.
Deuce: Dude, this place looks great.
You both looked at the haphazardly made bunkbed that was held by a single piece of plastic. The rest of the room had a couch and a gaming set up thanks to Maddy. The room also had LED color changing lights which you both had control over. Deuce's lights were green and yours were pink at the moment.
There were a few of the movie posters that survived the fire on the walls as well as a framed photo of Deuce and Cleo on the nightstand. After a game of rock, paper, scissors, you manged to get top bunk.
You even had a chest of supplies should you need it. Like weapons and potions and stuff. Your uncle even gave you a few things to spice up the room before he left.
A month had past since the whole uncensored interview fiasco and things were really back in track. Well, for the most part. Some monsters were still in hiding, but you were making your way down the list.
You heard a beep and looked at your watch, seeing what time it was.
Y/N: Ah, I gotta go. Swim practice.
Deuce: I keep forgetting you're the swim team manager.
Y/N: I forget sometimes too. Catch you later?
You and Deuce low fived and you grabbed your bag, ready for practice. It was Thursday now and you were ready to get the weekend started already. You had wanted to finish editing your newest video of Deuce ramping over a fountain.
In the month that had passed, you had begun filming even more. You even made two short films after your friends insisted you enter a few small contests. You never knew you would love being a director so much. But, you really did love it.
Rochelle: Bonjor, Y/N!
You waved at your friend as you walked by. You still weren't sure where you belonged among monster and normies, but you also didn't care. You were happy with life.
You reached the pool area and entered. You greeted the swim team as you made your way to your bench. You set your bag down and got what you needed while the others warmed up.
Lagoona: What do you even mean?
You lifted your head at the sound of your friend's voice. You looked over to see that she was talking to Gil, her boyfriend, but she seemd upset. You never really spoke to Gil, mostly cause you had a hard time understanding him with his water helmet, but also because he was just never really around.
You knew his parents didn't exactly like Lagoona since she was a salt water monster while Gil was a fresh water monster. You had dealt with fresh water monsters before. They were pretty....petty. Snobby. Salt water folk were more laid back.
You watched for a bit as they went back and forth. Finally, Gill let out a frustrated groan and stormed off put of the pool area. You watched him the entire time before looking back to Lagoona. She looked frustrated.
It took a second but she finally realized that you were looking at her. She was immediately embarrassed over you seeing what had happened. She walked over and sat down next to you.
Lagoona: You saw that?
You nodded.
Lagoona: Gah! He's so frustrating sometimes.
Y/N: You alright?
Lagoona nodded. She stood up and took her hoodie off, tossing it aside. She was now in her swimsuit. She dived into the water while you watched. You felt a bit bad. She was your friend. You cared for her. You wanted to help.
-----------------
You chatted with a few of the swimteam members once practice ended. They were doing well and should be ready for the next swim meet, which made you quite happy. Granted, you were sure the piranhas helped.
Once everyone filed out, you noticed that Lagoona was still doing her laps. You watched for a moment before you decided to say something.
Lagoona reached the edge of the pool where she found your hazy figure standing there with your hands in your pockets. She emerged from the water and looked up at you while you smiled.
Y/N: Hey, got a sec?
Lagoona nodded and pulled herself out of the pool. You tossed her a towel which she used to pat herself dry. She couldn't rub herself or she'll risk pulling out scales. It didn't hurt but it definitely looked weird to have missing patches of scales.
She joined you on the bench again and dried her hair, though it still smelt of salt water. You watched her for a moment before you sighed.
Y/N: Hey, is everything okay with you and Gil?
Lagoona looked at you oddly.
Y/N: I understand if you don't want to talk about it, and I'm sorry if I'm crossing a boundary, but I just wanted to ask. I've never really seen you so....upset, I guess.
Lagoona smiled.
Lagoona: We've just been having some bickering matches lately. I guess things just aren't the same anymore.
She looked down with a sigh.
Lagoona: When I first met him, I thought that there would be nothing that could stop us. But, now, I see that it was just some danked up fantasy.
Y/N: What do you mean?
Lagoona just shook her head.
Lagoona: It's nothing. What about you? How are things?
She was avoiding the topic. It must be worse than you thought. Still, if she didn't want to talk about it, you wouldn't push the subject.
Y/N: Good. Just taking every day as they come.
Lagoona: What about that party coming up? Do you have your speech prepared?
You groaned. She was referring to the party that was being held to celebrate a half a year of a human attending Monster High. You attending Monster High for half a year. It was a milestone you honestly didn't know you would see.
Y/N: Not really. I figured I'd wing it. It's not like it's really that much of a statement.
Lagoona laughed a bit.
Lagoona: I don't know why I expected anything else. You are one funny guy, Y/N.
You shrugged.
Y/N: Sometimes you just gotta wing it. I'm not apologizing.
Lagoona: Good. You shouldn't. But, the whole school will be there.
That was true. The whole event was being held on a Friday as to allow everyone to attend and party. It was actually a good idea.
Y/N: Well, at least I'll have my friends.
You turned to her with a smile. Lagoona couldn't help but blush a bit. She was honest with herself. She found you attractive, and not just physically either. You were a nice guy with a good personality and a good sense of humour. You were always trying to help others.
Your heart was always in the right place. Even now, staying late to talk to her after you saw she was having a bad day.
Lagoona: Thanks for doing this, mate. I appreciate just talking.
Y/N: Yeah, of course. I would offer to buy you a coffee, but I don't even know of you drink coffee.
Lagoona: I don't. But I appreciate the offer.
You nodded and began to rub your hands together. You began to wonder what else you could talk about, but nothing came to mind.
Lagoona: Hey, Helsing.
You turned back to see what she wanted, only to be met with her lips. She kissed you which caught you by surpise. It was quick, really more a peck than anything, but it happened.
You both looked at each other before reality hit. She was dating Gil. She was taken and you couldn't just.....
Y/N: I should go.
You grabbed your bag and quickly shuffled out of the room. Lagoona didn't even try to stop you. She knew she made a mistake, but she didn't regret it.
You, however, figured it might be best to just go to Dracula's for the night.
---------------
You laid on your floor with your headphones on. Sweet, beautiful music from the 80's metal scene played in your ears while you just enjoyed the day. Everything was just perfect.
This entire day was interrupted when your door opened and someone came storming in. They stepped onto your gut, making you grunt in pain, before they jumped face first onto your bed and screamed into your pillow.
You sat up and tossed your headphones off.
Y/N: I think you broke my rib.
The person spoke into your pillow, making it difficult to understand them.
Y/N: What was that?
The girl liked her head up and cried out.
Draculaura: My chemistry homework is impossible!
Y/N: So you step on my ribs and smer makeup all over my pillow? Come on, Drac. You're 1,600. Shouldn't you already know everything there is to know about Chemistry?
Draculaura: I don't like science!
You rolled your eyes and grabbed your headphones. You placed them around your neck and got to your feet. You pulled out your phone and puased your music.
Y/N: And why are you having your crisis in my room?
Draculaura: Yours was closer.
Y/N: Yours is literally across the hall.
Draculaura said nothing and instead went back to whining in your pillow. You rolled your eyes and walked over to your desk. Since your vibe was now ruined, you decided to work on your project.
You opened the editing software and opened up the video you were working on. It was the newest video for your channel which had just reached 150,000 subscribers. Milestone!
This week's video was of Deuce ramping over the school's fountain. Of course there were outtakes of him....not succeeding, but it filled the content. Plus he liked the reactions and you enjoyed reading the comments.
You hummed to yourself before you felt your phone go off. You pulled it out and smiled when you saw the contact. You answered.
Y/N: Hey. I'm surprised to be hearing from you after so long.
Cupid: Sorry about that. But, I heard there was a party coming up, so I figured I'd...come and visit.
This made you smile. You haven't seen your friend in so long.
Y/N: Well, I won't stop you.
