Helsing

You always thought the afterlife would be more.......interesting.

You knew you were dead. No one could survive a stab in the heart. Not man, not monster. You were a bit bummed, but it wasn't like you died for nothing. You had saved Draculaura and thwarted Stroker's conspiracy. You lived a pretty good life too. Full of adventure and friends.

Still, this place was was empty. A white void of nothingness? This sucked. Was this all there was? Were you supposed to be thinking of something before you died?

Y/N: Huh.

Your voiced echoed. It was completely silent. Unmoving. It was very unnerving. And you were just sitting here. And should there be other people here, cause it was just you right now.

You sighed and got to your feet. That was when you realized you were wearing nothing but white clothes. Good thing BBQ sauce wasn't a thing here.

You looked around before deciding in a direction. You then began to walk. It was as if the world itself was just moving along with you. You weren't making any real progress.

You stopped and placed your hands on your hips. This was...troubling.

Y/N: Welp. This is stupid.

You let out a frustrated groan.

???: You're right.

You stood there for a moment before slowly turning around to find a man standing behind you. Not just that, but the scenery had changed. No longer was this just a white void. You couldn't even explain what this was.

???: Apologies for being late, lad. I was preoccupied. But now that I am here, allow me to introduce myself.

He bowed before standing back up.

???: My name is Mond. I am here to guide you.

------------
Your friends watched as Helsing held your lifeless corpse. You were dead. For real this time. Your uncle couldn't believe it. You felt so limp in her arms.

Your friends mourned you while Dracula gave chase after Stroker. Helsing shut his eyes tight while Veronica stood there. She didn't know what to do. What to say. Once again, Stroker had taken someone away from her. And the slaughter might not be over.

Helsing: You need to hurry and find Bloodgood.

Your friends looked to your uncle.

Helsing: She'll keep you safe. Me and Dracula will.....

Cleo: What is wrong with you?

Helsing looked up.

Cleo: Your nephew just died. Our friend was killed. Why are you so calm about this?

Helsing narrowed his eyes. A stare that many monsters had faced, and few had lived to tell about it. Cleo felt a chill run over her body, as if she had become paralyzed.

Helsing: Go find Bloodgood. Me and Dracula will handle Stroker. Go. Now.

Deuce took Cleo's hand began to pull her away. Everyone soon followed to get out of the way of conflict and to mourn their friend, but Veronica stayed back. Helsing was about to tell her to follow, but she stopped him by placing a hand over his.

Veronica: This is my fight too.

Helsing slowly closed his mouth. He knew of her past. He knew she wanted revenge too. He'd be a hypocrite to tell her to run.

Helsing: Can I trust you to watch over him?

Veronica looked at you. Your closed eyes. The were so soft when you looked at her. She saw determination and love and honor and bravery when she looked into your eyes. She gently took your head into the palm of her hand and rested your body on her lap.

Veronica: You have my word.

You walked behind Mond who kept a steady pace. Not too fast, not too slow. You had slowed just to see what would happen, but he did the same without even turning around. He was weird, but you had gotten used to this stuff by now.

Y/N: You know, I always thought the Grim Reaper would look different.

Mond: He does look different. But, I am not him.

Y/N: Riiiight. So, who are you?

Mond: I am Mond.

Y/N: So you say.

Mond let out a short chuckle.

Mond: Forgive me. I forget that you have forgotten that Mond is my true name. You and your kind refer to me as something else.

You raised a brow as he held out his hand. Suddenly, the moon had vanished and appeared in Mond's palm. You could almost see him smile behind that mask of his.

Mond: You might know me better as the Man on the Moon. It's where you'll usually find me.

The moon vanished once again as it returned to the sky. You stared at it for a moment before turning back to Mond.

Y/N: Right. Well, nice to meet you?

Mond: Likewise. I do regret that it was under such circumstances. But, I did have an agreement with your father should you perish.

You blinked before approaching the man.

Y/N: My father? Like my biological father? You know who he is?

Mond nodded.

Mond: It's hard not to. He was an extraordinary man. But, he's not what I'm here for. I'm here for you. You see, you died.

Y/N: You don't say.

Mond: So I am here to guide you.

You nodded.

Y/N: You said that already. What do you mean?

Mond: Well it's quite simple. With your death, you are to go to the afterlife. But before that, I must speak to you.

You watched as a table was created. On it was some tea and two cups as well as some pastries. Mond took a seat and gestured for you to do the same. Seeing as you were dead already, you complied.

Mond poured some tea into both cups and slid one towards you. Out of curiosity, you waited to see how he would drink his, but he just kept stirring.

Y/N: So, what do you wanna talk about?

Mond: You, of course. Tell me about your life.

You sighed and took a sip of your tea.

Y/N: Oh, you know. Pretty standard life. Raised by a famous monster hunter for as long as I could remember. Fought some monsters, almost died a few times, enrolled in a school made for monsters. Met some friends, went on some adventures, then I died.

Mond: No, you need to tell me more than that.

You took another sip.

Y/N: Not much more to tell, I'm afraid.

Mond simply shook his head. You figured you wouldn't get anywhere unless you did what he said.

Y/N: Okay. Uh, I don't even know what my real name is. My name, Y/N, came from some guy my uncle knew. He's not even my uncle really. Just some dude who found a kid in a forest and took pity. But, I don't even know if that's true either.

Mond: Conflicted?

Y/N: Kinda. I mean, where did I come from? Who were my parents? I keep....kept, having these dreams. Of a different place. Of people. I think I had siblings? I-I dunno. I was honestly just happy with my life. I mean, I had friends I loved. Things were good. Even when they weren't.

Mond: And now you feel like you'll never get the answers you desire.

You shrugged.

Y/N: I'm more bummed that I won't get to say goodbye. I mean, they must be pretty sad, right?

Mond seemed surpised by your answer, but he didn't push it. Though, you did have a question for him.

Y/N: Hey, if you seem to know so much, can you tell me something?

Mond eyed you for a moment before he nodded.

Y/N: Who was Oscar? I had a dream and that name came up.

Mond: Oscar? Well, he was a child that died. Why do you care about that?

You stayed silent. You set your cup down and leaned forward, looking Mond in the dark voids where his eyes should be.

Y/N: Am I Oscar? Was I Oscar?

Mond stopped stirring. Silence filled the air before Mond set his cup down. He them folded his hands.

Mond: I already told you. Oscar died as a child.

Y/N: And I have no memory before the age of 5. Oscar was 4. Why would I know any of that?

Mond: Because the ways of the universe work in mystery. No matter what land you call home.

He then hummed.

Mond: Funny, that word. "Home". What is home really?

You raised a brow. What was he on about?

Mond: Is it where the heart is? Is it a place? A person? A thing? How do you know when you're home? Can you just feel it? Do you realize after the fact?

Y/N: What?

Mond: Home. For example, mine is on the Moon. That is my home. My place in this universe.

He gestured to you.

Mond: Where is your home, Y/N?

Draculaura struggled in Stroker's grasp. She had tears in her eyes, but she wasn't just going to give up. She grabbed his arm and bit down hard, drawing blood. Stroker let out a cry of pain before he backhanded her to the ground.

Stroker: You little brat! How dare you attack a Lord?!

Draculaura sat up and glared at him. The taste of blood filled her mouth for the first time in centuries. She hated it, but the rage and sorrow she felt overpowered it greatly.

Draculaura: You're no lord. Y-You're nothing but a coward!

Stroker growled and lifted his foot. Draculaura lifted her arms to block the coming attack, only for the door to fly off the hinges. A chill filled the room as Dracula stepped in, his eyes blood shot red and his aura murderous.

Dracula: Stroker.

Stroker bared his fangs as Dracula lunged towards him. A battle between lords was rare in any life time. The sheer power was enough to destroy the lands. Two lord engaged in a battle could very well bring the castle down.

Dracula stabbed his nails into Stroker's shoulder, but Stroker escaped his grasp by turning into a swarm of bats. Draculaura wat he'd with wide eyes as this duel began. That was when she noticed it.

She looked outside to see the sky slowly turning dark. The sun was becoming covered in a shadow, creating an eclipse like effect over the region. The power of the two lords had began to shift the very environment itself.
------------
You watched Mond as he poured you more tea. What was your home? Where was it? You found yourself unable to answer. Did you even know?

You thought back. You had traveled all your life. The only real place you had settled down at was with Ms. Bloodgood. But, even that didn't last. You looked down at your hands. When was the last time you even felt like you belonged?

You weren't a monster. That was clear. But you also didn't belong with the hunters. You were a third kind of person. Somewhere outside of both.

And yet, you had friends. People that cared about and loved you. People who would risk their lives to help you. People you had given your life to save. Mond smirked under his mask when he saw the gears in your mind start to turn.

Y/N: Monster High. That's my home. But, not the place. The people.

Mond simply slid your tea cup across the table.

Mond: So, what are you going to do now? How will you get back home?

Veronica held you carefully. She couldn't hurt you anymore, but she still found herself unable to accept that you were gone. She couldn't even bring herself to cry. It just seemed impossible.

She may not have known you for long, but you were still somehow someone she would always remember. The kindest, bravest, most selfless person she had ever met. Even when you were hurt and bleeding, you thought of others. It was something she had never seen before.

You were special. She could see it in your eyes. She saw it every time you posted a new video. Every time you told her a joke about your friends. Every time you spoke of Monster High.

She closed her eyes.

400 years ago, she had entered her father's study. She was reviewing his notes. That's when she saw it. The Vampires Heart.

She still remembers how it glowed.

She opened her eyes and grabbed the stake that was lodged in your chest. She then used her strength to pull it out. Once she tossed it aside, she lifted your head. You were dead, yes, but she was also special. She always knew she was.

She ran her thumb across your cheek as she stared at your face.

Dracula: I will always love her as such. Nothing will ever change that.

Veronica: I hope you'll forgive me when it's all over. But they need you.....we all do.
---------------
Helsing slid under the desk as Dracula leaped over. Stroker managed to leap up and spin to avoid both attacks. This was followed up by Helsing firing a bolt towards him. It barely missed as Stroker charged towards him.

Helsing rolled away while Dracula tackled him to the ground. Draculaura watched in worry before getting to her feet. If she had her vampire ability she could help. But, it was fruitless. She didn't have the power. All she could do was watch.

She couldn't even save herself. She felt useless. Like she was nothing but a problem. Just another thing to get in the way of everyone else. Gory was right. She would never be anything special.

She closed her eyes as the fighting continued.

She couldn't even help her father. She couldn't even help you. And now you were dead. Truly dead. She didn't know what to do.

Stroker grabbed Helsing and flung him across the room towards a display of swords. Dracula stopped his charge and instead hurried to catch him. His back slammed against the display, dropping many of the blades onto him. He hissed in pain but quickly tried to get back up.

Stroker: Not so fast!

Stroker slammed his foot into Helsing which sent them both flying through the stone wall. Helsing was now unconscious while Dracula groaned in pain. Stroker stepped through the hole and smiled.

Stroker: The great Dracula, reduced to nothing more than a pathetic, human sympathetic, father. You should've kept with the council.

Stroker stepped on Dracula's throat, slowly pressing down and cutting the air from his lungs. Dracula tried to fight back, but Stroker reached into his pocket and tossed a piece of wolf's bane directly into his face.

Dracula began to hiss and jerk around while Stroker continued to slowly kill him.

Stroker: First you, then your lover, than that brat of yours. Funny. Two Helsings and two Dracs are going to die today.
--------------
You stood up and looked back.

Y/N: Dracula?

Mond: Mh, yes. He'll be joining you shortly if you don't hurry.

You turned back to him. You then felt something.
-----------
Veronica bit her lip, drawing blood. She then lifted your head and placed her lips upon hers. The blood began to pour into your mouth and through your veins. She pulled away and watched to see if you were affected at all.

She then noticed your finger twitching.
-------------
You hissed in pain as your hand caught on fire. A strange purple flame began to trail up your arm and onto the rest of your body.

Mond: We'll meet again. Only the next time, you won't be Y/N. At least not in the way you know yourself to be. I truly can't wait to see who you will become.

You closed your eyes and screamed out in pain as the flames consumed you.

That was when your eyes opened.
------------
Dracula found his life fading away. He never feared death. He never longed for it either. His only regret was that Stroker would win and have his way. Draculaura would be killed as would Helsing.

He had broken his promise made many years ago. To protect you. To guide you. He failed, and now he will die.

Draculaura stumbled to the hole and saw what was happening. Her eyes grew wide when she realized that her father would soon perish. Without thinking, she ran over and jumped onto Stroker's back. She began to try and beat on him, but this served to be fruitless. Stroker merely laughed.

He threw her off and threw a table. He returned his attention back to Dracula and grinned even wider.

Draculaura: N-No!

Stroker: I guess I finally get to finish what I start all those years ago.

Dracula's hand fell. Stroker had won.

That was until Dracula suddenly found himself able to breathe again. The weight was off. Stroker flew through a wall after being hit by an unseen force.

He quickly rose to his feet and looked around the dark room to see who had attacked him. Who had dared lay a finger on him.

Stroker: Show yourself!

???: As you wish.

Stroker was once again attack and thrown back into the room. Dracula held his own throat and helped Helsing up. The monster hunter was slowly regaining consciousness. Just when everyone had regained their composure, Stroker's attacker entered the room.

Blood dripped from the open wound. Blood that he would no longer need. Newly grown fangs were bared, and red eyes glared into the vampire lord. Black nails as sharp as knife points scratched the stone they touched.

Helsing's eyes grew wide when the attacker stepped fully into the light.

Y/N: Should've done a better job at killing me, Stroker.
