Chapter One:
Gorgeous

Life was very different after leaving Konoha. I was wanted by every country overnight, no where was safe. I often kept watch in a tree and wouldn't sleep all night long. When I did sleep, I still didn't allow my guard to be down and was armed with a kunai at all times. An organization called the Akatsuki had reached out to me and took me in. There I felt safe with Pain, their leader, controlling most of the land we lived on. I spent a few months with the baby I brought before dropping him off to a family I heard desperately wanted a child. They were rogue ninjas from the rain village, another area Pain had control over. There the child was safe and I felt at ease.
It had been five years since that dreadful night I wish to forget. No matter how I try, I can't get over any of it, especially the look on Sasuke's face when he thought I was the monster who killed his family.
I was sitting outside on a large tree branch, swinging my legs as the rain poured down. It thundered and lightened occasionally, the sky lightening up whenever there was lightning.
To me, the storm was very calming. I loved the rain, I didn't care that my clothes got a little soaked from being out here. I was also too lost in thought to think about how wet my feet were. I felt a little chilly since I left my Akatsuki cloak at the base. I heard the sound of a branch behind me snap loudly. I immediately activated my sharingan and pulled out a kunai.
"Calm down, it's just me, hmph." As soon as I heard the voice of Deidara, I felt relieved
"You should know better than sneaking up on me." I said, allowing my red eyes to fade away. The blonde snickered and jumped onto the tree branch, sitting beside me.
"I heard that Konoha is teaming up with Suna in an attempt to track you down." Deidara said
"Even if they do find me, they won't take me alive." I replied, squeezing the water out of my (H/C) hair. Deidara was the only one in the organization I could fully trust. Like me, he had only joined the Akatsuki for the sense of security. As long as you did the missions Pain assigned you, he would give you protection. I sighed and stared at the cloudy sky, rain drops falling on my face.
"Do you wanna come inside? Hidan, Kakazu, and Tobi are playing uno." Deidara asked, I shook my head
"I think I'm gonna go for awhile to clear my head. I'll be back." I said, standing up
"Have fun, don't get caught." Deidara responded as we went our separate ways. I jumped from tree to tree, not knowing where I was going but it was better than staying with that dumb organization.
I missed Itachi more every day and it was killing me inside to know I could never touch him or speak to him again. I saw him when I slept everyday, his black hair and eyes and that caring smile. I was very convinced that it was one of his parents who killed him out of self defense. I wish he hadn't die, this life would be less miserable if I had him by my side. I could never love again after Itachi, no one would dare to fall for me anyway. I'm just a criminal after all. No one knows that Itachi and I did it for the good of our village.
All of the sudden I felt something grab my legs and pull me down to the ground. I felt my chin hit the wet grass hard. I looked behind me and saw it was sand holding my legs together.
"Hurry put the collar on her!"
I activated my sharingan and was about to preform a justu to get myself the hell out of there. However I was stoped when a man put something around my neck. Somehow because of it, I wasn't able to use my sharingan. I grabbed a kunai from my pocket and looked up to see a boy with red hair and a mark on his head standing over me. How did I not sense his chakra?
"I'd put that down if I were you." He said bluntly
"Lord Gaara do you wish for me to disarm her?" A ninja beside him asked, I recognized the head band he was wearing. He was from Suna and the red head was the Kazekage.
"No, I can handle this." Gaara replied, using his sand to trap my arms as well and bring me towards him. I tried the best I could to move my arms but I couldn't get through the sand, I was completely trapped.
"You shouldn't struggle, the sands grip will only become tighter." He said, staring at me with a blank expression. He was so close to my face that I felt his breath blow my hair back slightly. It smelled of cool mint.
"You're the rogue ninja that left the leaf. (Y/N) (L/N)." Gaara said, I tensed slightly when he said my name "When I bring you back to Konoha, you will be executed."
'Executed.' I felt my heart drop, I thought I would only face a penalty in jail however this wasn't the case. On the somewhat bright side, at least I could join Itachi again. My life was pointless now anyway.
"Kankuro," Gaara said to the ninja next to him "We aren't taking her."
"What?! Gaara are you insane?! The leaf is offering so much money for her head and you're just going to turn it down? Think of all the things we could bring to the sand!" Kankuro shouted in aggravation
"I heard of what happened from the hokage. You and Itachi Uchiha were ordered to commit the murders due to an uprising." Gaara had completely ignored Kankuros statement. His green eyes stared intensely into mine. The other ninjas expression turned into a shocked one. I most likely looked just as surprised as he did, I didn't think the hokage informed anyone about our orders.
"Sad that the leaf uses great ninja like you and abandons you like a dog once you've finished their tasks. Such a waste." He said, reaching up to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. He placed one of his pale hands on my cheek. It was very cold and gentle. For a minute I hallucinated and thought I saw Itachi's dark eyes staring at me.
"So wha...what are we going to do with her?" Kankuro asked, Gaara pulled his hand away from my cheek
"Starting when we get back to Suna, she's one of us." He answered
"Gaara that's just asking for war between us and the leaf! Can't we just leave her be out here? Do the elders even know about your decision?!" Kankuro asked
"Indeed, I informed them and they are very aware of the situation. The leaf won't come for her if they don't know she's alive." Gaara replied, Kankuro's eyebrows raised
"You're going to say she died?"
"Yes, for all you know, a couple of ninja got to her before we did." Gaara said, turning to me
"You're safe now, come on." He releases me from his sand and proceeded to walk behind me, making our way towards Suna. I could tell he and the other ninja did not let their guard down for one second. I couldn't blame them, they did it just to be safe.
As we walked, I couldn't help but stare at the red head.
He was just so gorgeous.
