It Was An Accindent, I Swear

I absolutley love Nico and Hazel's sibling bond, I just think it's so cute! I also wanted to give Hazel some light in my fanfic because she's awesome. Anyway, I don't own any art or characters in this fanfic! If there are any typos or mistakes, please tell me! I hope you enjoy this chapter!

Nico POV

He’s sorry. He wasn’t thinking.

Okay, let’s backup a little bit.

After Nico’s hunger only grew stronger, he started destroying everything he could see. He destroyed the coral reef outside his cave, he killed all the sea anemone within a mile, and burnt all the patches of seaweed to the ground. How he managed to burn something underwater, well, it’s a mystery.

After his breakdown, he realised that it did nothing to help. In fact, it only made him hungrier. Great.

He sat in his dark cave, and then, he felt his eyes flash red, and decided to get it over with. He swam over to the shore of the docks. His jaw fell open in amazement. It was just sunset, and it was the first time in hundreds of years that Nico finally saw what the town actually looked like in the sunlight.

The world had changed so much, people’s clothes were funny, and the houses were odd. He was just about to step out of the water when a smell he knew well hit his nose.

Humans.

His mouth watered and his eyes turned red as his stomach growled loudly. He licked his lips, noticing his fangs growing.

There were eleven people walking on the dock, and Nico ducked further underwater until just his eyes were above the sea. He was about to use one of his tentacles to grab one of them, but stopped himself, his eyes turning normal again. He found this rather interesting. He wanted to see how people acted nowadays.

His stomach rumbled in protest but he managed to hold back. He saw one of the boys, one with golden hair, sky blue eyes, and many freckles sit down on the edge of the dock. Nico cocked his head to the side, wondering what the strange boy was doing. He was well built, tall, and very tan.

“So, I’m Will. What’s your name?” The boy asked. Nico scrunched his eyebrows. Who was he talking to?

“Okay, not in a talkative mood? That’s fine, because I can talk for the both of us,” Will said, settling into a comfortable position on the dock.

Nico watched with interest as the boy continued talking, telling someone all about himself. He said he liked chicken. Nico would give the world to eat chicken instead of people.

“I guess I would like to get to know you. I don’t know your name and feel kind of weird calling you sea monster. How about Kevin? You seem like a Kevin. I hope you don’t mind me calling you Kevin.” The boy said.

Nico opened his mouth. Will was talking about him. He was Kevin, though he didn’t really like the name.

Still, Nico was puzzled. Why would anyone want to talk to him? From what he understood, people were scared of him, and they had every right to be. This boy was just out here talking to him, seemingly of his own free will.

Now, Nico was even more interested in this boy.

“So, Kevin, since I’m not dead I’m going to guess that we’re friends. Okay? Okay,” The boy said, taking a deep breath.

Nico was shocked. Were they friends? Nico wanted a friend…

“I know you have the whole “eat people every night thing” but I was wondering if you could maybe take a break? I can give you some of my mom’s chicken if you’d like?” The boy continued.

Nico winced, and felt a few tears slide down his cheek. If only he could…

“Will, I don’t think anyone’s going to answer you, let’s go,” said a girl putting her hand on Will’s shoulder. Nico was slightly angry at this movement, though he didn’t know why.

“Wait, I just, let me say something? Please?” Will asked the girl, a determined look in his eyes.

The girl looked at the other people before nodding to Will.

Nico leaned in further to hear what Will was saying. “If you were listening to me, give me a sign? Please?”

Nico didn’t know what to do. He hasn’t interacted with other people in over five hundred years. Unless you count eating them, which you shouldn’t. Will was now his friend, and he intended to keep him.

Without thinking he used one of his tentacles to grab the nearest person’s ankles, who happened to be a petite girl with curly cinnamon hair, chocolate skin and gold eyes.

Nico ducked his head back underwater as the girl shrieked, alerting her friends. A burly Asian-looking boy grabbed onto her. Nico was now annoyed. He hadn’t realised it at the time, but Nico’s eyes had turned red during their game of tug-of-war.

The others had joined and tried to get her back, but Nico was stronger. With one final tug, he brought the girl underneath the water and wrapped her entirely in his tentacle. He waved his hand, casting a spell to make her go unconscious.
