Sock (UNFINISHED)
Today was the day. The day she was moving to the castle.
She had stayed here for so long, and now she was leaving. Leaving him alone.
"Sock?..." A feminine voice asked, immediately making the male snap to attention.
"Yes?" He asked, clearing his throat.
"You need help with that?" Jojo asked, hopping off the wagon and walking over to him.
"Oh, no thanks," he said, putting the box neatly on top of the others. "I was just zoning out a bit. It's just unbelievable that you're leaving, you know?"
She sighed, shaking her head. "I know, it sucks a lot. I've been here my entire life, and now I'm leaving to go to work in the palace. To be blunt, I'd rather work my butt off in the village all day rather than listen to a king bark orders at me. I like when people keep their mouths shut, thanks."
Sock chuckled. Typical Jojo.
"It's gonna be rough without you," He said, rubbing his neck.
"It's gonna be rough without you," Jojo said. "But hey, we'll keep in touch, right? It's what we do."
Sock nodded. "Of course!"
"Joane!" A voice called.
Jojo looked down. "I better go..."
Sock gave a sad smile, then quickly hugged her. "I'll miss you..."
She flinched for a few seconds, then sighed, hugging him back and burying her head into his shoulder. "I'll miss you too..."
"Joane!!" The voice called again.
Jojo quickly pushed him off, giving him a kiss on the cheek and softly saying "Goodbye," before dashing off to the wagon. She climbed up on the back of it, looking at her parents.
"Ready?" Her father asked.
She sighed. "Yes..."
With that, they started off. Jojo waved to Sock, a frown on her face. Sock waved back, still having that sad smile. When they were far away enough, he began to frown, sighing as he hung his head. He suddenly felt someone put a hand on his shoulder, and he immediately looked up.
His mother.
She frowned at him, a sympathetic look in her crystal blue eyes. "You'll miss her a lot, won't you?"
Sock just simply looked down again, giving a tiny nod. She sighed.
"Would you like to go hunting? Maybe you could show me a few more techniques?"
Sock looked back up at her and shrugged. "That couldn't hurt..."
Later, they were both in the woods, up in the trees. Sock looked around carefully, clenching his crossbow tightly.
"Anything?" His mother whispered.
"Not yet..." He whispered back. "But it feels like there is something around here..."
They both looked around
