Five
I stopped yelling at him, stopped hyperventilating. My breaths shook as I realized this was my brother, not my dad. His hand was on my shoulder, and he was above me, trying to keep me down.
"I thought you were done with your panic attacks," he whispered, scooting back and helping me up.
"I did, too. Something about Annie just set one off..."
"Maybe you should rest."
"Sure." However, I did not plan to go to my room and rest. Naturally, I didn't tell him this. After shoving my way past the few trainees gathered, I practically ran to my room.
After getting there, I slipped off my tank top, changed into shorter bottom wear, and got gloves. I started punching the air so as to train. I thought about my relationships with others, imagining if someone hurt them. I pretended the air was that enemy.
I felt the force in my punches increase as I put up this act. I started putting kicks in, then went into full-blown fighting mode. I swiped at the air, moving around, staying on my toes.
I felt a thin layer of sweat covering me soon enough, motivating me more. I ducked under my imaginary foe's fist, executing a low circle kick and then leaping back up and punching again.
I turned, ready to punch again, when I saw that the door was open. Sam was standing there with Bertholdt, Annie, and Reiner behind him.
"They wanted to make sure you were okay," he piped up.
"I didn't, I just came along," Reiner said, averting his eyes with embarrassment.
"Sure you did, jackass." Annie elbowed him and then gave me a look saying, "Can you believe him?"
"Well, don't worry, I'm fine. And Reiner, stop ogling me just because I'm in my bra," I said, shooting a glare his way.
He looked away. "I wasn't doing anything."
"Sure you weren't," Sam said, looking up to see the tall blonde idiot.
"So you're okay?" Bertholdt asked quietly from the back of the group.
"Yeah, I'll survive. It was just a little panic attack," I replied. "That all you needed? I was training."
"Then why don't you come out and show everyone your b--"
"I prefer to train in private, smartass!" I snapped at Reiner.
"Reiner, you're such a pervert. She'll never like you," Sam said, flicking him. He was close to the trio, but not as close as I was.
"Her loss!" Reiner chided, shrugging and walking out.
Sam left, leaving Annie and Bertholdt. The blonde girl walked closer. "So you're going to be fine?"
I nodded.
"What triggered that anyway?"
"I'm not sure. I guess it was your fighting style or some 'aura' you were putting off. I was always told I was sensitive to that kind of stuff."
Bertholdt seemed to be looking at me with a little fear. "Wh-What happened to your stomach?" He pointed to the area in question.
I looked down. "Oh. That's a product of what gave me panic attacks."
