The Signal Tower:

A large, fortified skyscraper that was responsible for the loss of everyone that once lived in this city. It stood high and menacing, overlooking the town that was below it.

Inside the Signal Tower, was a pure purple hue as specks of dust glided around the messy room undisturbed. It looked horrendously cluttered but also seemingly empty. The only sound that echoed through the halls was the occasional mimic of a heartbeat and the rare sound of something scraping across the floor.

Stairs rose up from the ground and reach high above sea level. The stairs lead to a dark, wooden door that leads to long, hotel-like hallways with more doors of confusing misplacement.

Far enough into the tower was a long and unnerving hallway that lead to an even more unnerving wooden door. It sat at the end of the long hallway, staring down at anything nearby with its one, large, motionless eye adornment.

Open the door and you'll be inside the mysterious, red-blue room that housed one person and one person only.

There, in the center of the room, sitting on a lone chair; was none other than (Y/N), sitting alone in what's known to be the Black Room.

A fedora hat was slightly tilted on his head, shadowing his face and eyes. Tears flowed down his eyes as he clenched his baggy pants.

'All of that,' he thought. 'All of that for nothing.'

(Y/N)'s thoughts were filled with confusion, despair, and pure anger towards an old friend.

Six.

He sacrificed everything for her safety and yet, she threw it away and spat it in his face. He thought that today, his birthday, he would be spending with her.

Smiling, going outside, having fun, and some other cool things.

...

Okay, so he doesn't know how to celebrate a birthday.

But, what he does know was that he was betrayed; left alone by his best friend.

Six and (Y/N).

Two determined kids.

Two dumb souls.

He hopes- no, prays to whatever high being that's out there. He begs to be set free, that some loving light would come to sweep him off his feet a bring him to a world where he doesn't have to run and hide from monsters twenty times his size.

But, that's just impossible, right?

'Ha...'

'What a funny thought...'

.

.

.

"-OH GREAT HEAVENS-!"

.

.

.

(Y/N) awoke in a field of dark grey.

The area wasn't like what he was used to. It wasn't towering and morphed, rather it was small and homey.

(Y/N) got up with a pained jolt and checked over his bare feet and hands. There were chared marks left behind from where his feet and hands rested on the dark grey ground.

He wiped his hands on his chest with a sour hiss and looked at what he was passed out on.

It was a well-taken-care road. There were small but noticeable plants growing out of any small cracks in the pavement- completely catching his attention.

Surround him were small creatures fluttering around, animalistic monsters yapping at him, and humanoid oddities whispering at the sight of the boy.

'What is going on?' he looked around at the surrounding area. 'Why is there so much... color?'

(Y/N) slightly jumped when noticing the creatures around him and tried to shimmy away. His right hand brushed up against something and froze when he realized what it was.

Sitting to his right, barely ripped and battered, was an all-familiar, dirty paper bag with two cut-out eye holes.

He grabbed it solemnly. Just the sight of it filled him with shame and familiarity.

All those memories...

All those...

Regrets...

...

(Y/N) folded it before putting it in his jacket pocket with a huff.

He needed to get out of here-

"Hey, you!"

(Y/N) turned to look at the voice. It was more creatures but they were wearing blue-black uniforms. Most, if not all, were looking at him nervously.

"What are you doing? Are you a cosplayer or something?"

"... Cost... Player..?"

(Y/N) was heavily confused. Where was he? What are these monsters? And what the fuck was a 'costplayer'?

A net was suddenly placed around him, dragging him back forcefully. The creature holding it looked at him seriously.

"Listen, kid. I don't know what the hell you're doing, but we're going to have to take you into custody."

"..."

SHING

The net was quickly destroyed as (Y/N) brought a large, heavy axe out of literally nowhere. The anomaly holding the now broken net scrambled away at the sight of the large weapon.

The rusty axe hit the pavement with a large CLANG, shaking the ground below it, and (Y/N) glared at the monster harshly as he ruffly gripped the axe.

The creatures backed up in shock and pulled a weapon out of their pocket. Nearby residents nearby retreated back to the safety of their homes or huddled together to hopefully intervene with the situation if it escalated too much further.

The creatures began to shout at him.

"Put the weapon down!"

(Y/N) slightly tilted his head.
"... Where..?"

"On the ground!"

"... Why?"

"Why are you-!?"

Quickly and suddenly, (Y/N) dashed away, catching the creatures around him by surprise.

"Hey!"

Their voices and the loud sounds of sirens faded as (Y/N) ran farther. He took a tight left toward a forest and ran through the lush green and dark oak.

(Y/N) stopped a minute later, noticing the creatures stopped following, and sat by a tree to regain his lost stamina.

'That was... something.'

(Y/N) let out a coarse breath.

Sure, he had been running for most of his life, but after being grounded in a seat for over six months, you lose a thing or two.

'... Where am I?'

His left ear flicked as he took in his surroundings.

The forest he was in was filled with all kinds of life- and other shit he didn't recognise.

For example, there was a line of little, red things running up and down the side of the tree he was currently resting next to. Some were carrying bits of leaves while others crawled around carrying clumps of dirt.

(Y/N) was in absolute awe at the amount of them before something else caught his eyes.

There was something scooting around on a dead log to his right.

It was small in height but quite long in length. It was slightly fuzzy as white hair protruded from all around its lil body.

It moved slowly, the small thing stretched and crawled in a wave-like pattern, before it reached a small, green leaf. There, it happily munched on the leaf in achievement.

The thing was a simple creature, but it made (Y/N) smile fondly at the sight nonetheless.

The forest was overall very nice and peaceful, and, as a bonus, the trees and grass weren't tall and overwhelming like they were where he came from.

He let out a relaxed sigh.

'I could get used to this...'

.

(Y/N) was still sitting next to the tree. He has been fully replenished for a while now, he just couldn't seem to stand up and leave.

The sound of birds chirping and wind blowing was truly relaxing. (Y/N) was glad there was nothing dangerous or destructive or...

'... What the fuck is that?'

The same small, winged creature from before began to flutter in front of (Y/N), startling him. He tried to crawl away from it but couldn't far as his back hit the base of the dark tree.

The monster flew closer.

As he stood up, preparing to run; (Y/N) couldn't help but admire how its wings looked small and fragile, how it flew gracefully around him... how it seemed like it was trying to calm him down.

The small creature was almost mesmerising. Its graceful nature slightly reminded him of the tiny, long varmint on the dead log.

(Y/N) huffed and took his chances.

'Please don't turn out like the last friend Please don't turn out like the last friend Please don't turn out like the last friend-'

Slowly and shakily, (Y/N) stretches out his hand to the creature.

He sucked in a breath, waiting for any negative response.

.

'Nevermind, this was a bad idea.'

Before he could withdraw his hand, the critter perched on his finger.

The boy looked at it in curiosity and awe.

Its main body was all black and it had quite a few arms and legs. Its little antennas brushed against (Y/N)'s finger as its swirly, small tongue attempted to try to recognise what it exactly landed on.

(Y/N) slightly leaned forward and sniffed the creature; his nose moving up and down hastily.

'Smells like wood... and pollen-'

He let out a sudden sneeze, scaring the miniature critter and making it fly away.

It didn't flutter far, as it soon returned to (Y/N) and happily perched on his finger again.

(Y/N) smiled and brought the small, winged creature closer to get a better look at it.

.

A loud yell suddenly breaks the nice quiet atmosphere.

"Hello!?"

"Amy! Quiet down, someone could hear us!"

(Y/n) looked around, caught off guard by the sound of a feminine and a gruff, masculine voice. He slowly sat up, trying not to scare his new friend on his finger.

He walked around with his finger held out, holding the small thingy, and his ears on high alert. (Y/N) carefully brought out his large axe again, and he held it an inch above the ground so as to not make any sound.

"But I heard a noise!"

"And you think that's a good thing??"

"Well, I did... until you said it out loud."

The conversation ended with a disappointed sigh from the gruffer voice.

(Y/N), using his senses, tried to locate the two voices and slowly crept through the forest.

Now, he kinda wanted the tall grass back.

He slowed to a stop as he began to see something red and pink moving in the distance. Upon closer inspection, it seemed to be a red... mole rat with a pink... shit- Alright, (Y/N) has no idea what the fuck he's looking at, but they seem to be a little bit like him.

Animalistic with big eyes and small frames; they all match up with each other.

'But can they be trusted..?'

(Y/N) stood there, conflicting with his options.

'I could just leave... but they could know where shelter and other resources are...'

He looked down at his little friend on his index finger. (Y/N) didn't want it to get hurt because of his possibly stupid decision.

He walked over to a large vine on a tree and held his finger out towards it, allowing the creature to step off.

"Bye."

The critter stayed despite (Y/N) giving him another place to rest.

"Go."

Yeah, it wasn't leaving.

"Off. Bye."

Pretty sure the thing just flicked him off.

He sighed, realising that there was no getting rid of this new friend; however, just when (Y/N) was about to walk off with the small creature still on his finger, it flew off, fluttering majestically onto another tree.

(Y/N) smiled and waved goodbye before slowly approaching the two strangers.

He walked up behind the pink one who was wearing a nice red dress. (Y/N) stood there awkwardly, hoping they'd notice, but it seemed they were too busy conversing to see the slightly taller, shady wolf behind them.

"... Hey-"

BAM

Before (Y/N) could finish his sentence, a large, pink hammer was slammed onto the ground where he once stood.

The pinky holding it grunted before pulling up the hammer again, preparing for another attack. The red guy stood by her side, fist ready, with a snarl on his face, slightly baring his white teeth.

"Who are you!? What do you want!?"

The red one bombarded (Y/N) with questions while (Y/N) just stood there, blank-faced.

"Answer me-!"
"(Y/N)."

"... Huh?"

Both the red and pink people blinked in confusion. The red one was mildly mad while Pinky couldn't help but quietly fan over (Y/N)'s gruff voice and serious demeanor.

"... My name is (Y/N)."

Pinky broke out of her mesmerized state and held her hand out to shake (Y/N)'s.

"It's nice to meet you! Sorry about the whole 'attacking you' thing."

"My name is Amy Rose and this-"

She pointed towards the red one.

"- is my friend, Knuckles!"

(Y/N) stared blankly at Amy's hand. He held his hand out too, but instead of a handshake, he just held her hand softly and nodded.

Amy's face turns surprised as she feels the blood rushing to her cheeks.

'Strange boy... but super adorable!' she thinks with a smile.

"U-Uh hehe! ... Would you like to come with us? The more the merrier!"

Knuckles looks at her, slightly surprised and mildly skeptical.

"Are you sure, Amy? We barely know him- and besides, you know we're a magnet for dangerous situations. He could get hurt or hurt us."

"Awhaha! Is the little echidna worried about Mr. (Y/N) giving him a whittle boo-boo?"

Amy mocked him, her hands holding the sides of her face as she speaks in a playful baby voice.

Knuckles blushed heavily in embarrassment as he looked between Amy, who had a cheeky smile, and (Y/N), who just looked on in confusion as the two teased and bickered.

"Huh!? Hell no I ain't!"

Knuckles harshly grabbed (Y/N)'s arm- and only loosened his grip when he heard the barely audible hiss in pain from (Y/N)- and marched off.

Amy smiled and pranced over to walk beside (Y/N) while Knuckles continued to huff and puff angrily.

'Always works.'

"We're looking for our friends that may have been brought here too." Amy started, catching (Y/N)'s attention. "- Speaking of, have you seen a blue hedgehog or a yellow fox?"

(Y/N) shook his head causing Amy to let out a disappointed sigh.

"We'll find 'em, Amy."

Knuckles looked at the other two with a small, reassuring smile.

"Now, let's keep moving. We want to at least find the others by sundown."

His words, although short, were quite inspiring to both Amy and (Y/N). It was the second time Amy felt less stressed since she came here (the first being when she found out Knuckles was transported here too), and it filled her with a sense of hope.

"Yeah, you're right!"

Amy gently grabbed (Y/N)'s hand and too began to march farther into the forest.

"Let's go, team!"
