The thing is, Louis is a bit scared to be around Harry in school. He doesn't say so, obviously, but if he's seen with Harry by Blake he's not sure what the boy would do. Especially if he sees them kissing or being anything but friendly.
Harry shows up at Louis' locker before lunch, and tries grabbing onto his hand, but Louis subtly dodges it to fix his fringe. Then he holds onto the straps of his bookbag. "Sitting with me?" he asks, keeping close.
Louis feels like he might throw up, if he's honest. His eyes constantly dart around to spot Blake or one of his friends. "Uh... I sit with my friend today," he says.
Harry nods, and once again Louis dodges his touch, "Hey- Louis," he grabs ahold of his hand, "do you want to be with me?" he looks hurt, and Louis may just melt.
"Yes!" he squeezes his hand, "Blake," he mumbles.
Harry's confused, but then shakes his head a bit, "He's not going to hurt you," he tells him, then wraps his arms around his neck. Louis hugs him back, nuzzling his nose into his neck. And although he won't admit it, the smell of Harry is lovely.
"Faggot," Louis snaps his head up. English may not be his first language, but that's definitely a word he knows.
Harry laughs, "You're literally gay!" he calls, earning a scowl back from Blake and his friends, "assholes," Harry mumbles to Louis.
Louis can't keep his eyes off of Harry's lips though, pink and soft and in desperate need to be kissed. Or at least in Louis' opinion. So he kisses him, but unfortunately it doesn't go any further than a few pecks since they're in school.
"Can sit with me and Cara," Louis tells him.
Lunch doesn't last as long as they, or anyone, wants, but it's pleasurable enough. Cara is happy, seeing as he and Harry are now together. Harry is whipped by Louis in a big jumper, and Louis can't get enough of Harry's hand resting on his thigh the whole time, so no one can complain.
The rest of the school day is a drag as well, but Louis gets to come over Harry's afterwards, so that betters the situation. The second they've put their things down in his room, Louis has his lips pressed against the taller boy's.
Harry grins against him, kissing Louis again. Small, open mouthed kisses that both of them keep smiling and giggling through it all. But the fact that they're able to even do it, that Louis can kiss this boy he's been crushing on since the day he got to the States, is all that matters. More so that Harry likes him back in the first place.
Harry has his hands balled loosely in Louis' jumper, and shrieks when he tightens his arms around his waist and lifts him off the ground a bit. He laughs and curls his one leg around, before getting dropped back down.
Louis kisses him, hand holding the side of his face and keeping him close. God forbid he lets him go, he doesn't know how he'd get him back. But then again neither of them really realize how whipped Harry is.
"Harry!" Harry jumps. He presses his palm against Louis' hip while walking around him to get the door. He doesn't open it all the way.
"Blake is here, honey," she says, "is he taking you going on a date?" Harry furrows his eyebrows, and pushes the door open. Louis comes into view. "Oh?"
Obviously confused, Harry clears it up, "Mum, I broke it off with him last week."
She cocks her head, "Why, honey?"
And that kind of sucks, because he knew he should have told her when it happened. But who knows what she'd do, or how she'd react.
"He hit Louis. I- can we talk later tonight?" he asks. She purses her lips, not happy, but nods.
Harry forgets he has a visitor until his mum reminds him. He doesn't want to go talk to him, but he's got to get him to go away somehow.
"Why are you here?" he crosses his arms.
Blake turns, "Harry," he breathes.
"Why are you here," he presses.
Blake frowns, "Because I love you," he says it like it's obvious "you're good for me, Harry," he tries reaching for his hand. But Harry grimaces and pulls it back. He'd always let it go, since he was his boyfriend, but the way he pronounces his name like Hairy is immensely irritating.
"I- no you don't, and I don't care if I'm good for you, you were shitty to me," he takes a step back, "and it's Harry! Not Hairy, for the love of god!"
Blake looks offended, "Why're you being a bitch?" he furrows his eyebrows.
"Why're you always verbally harassing me the past few months?" he shoots back, "sometimes you're sweet and all of the sudden you're a douchebag. I'm not dealing with it anymore."
"Oh yeah? Well who's gonna treat your ugly ass nice now, huh? Too helpless to find someone on your own," he sneers.
Harry holds back tears in his eyes, his throat feels dry, "I have Louis," it comes out quietly.
"Yeah right, whatever. You're not hot anymore anyway. Good luck finding someone to fuck your greedy ass," he shoves past him to the door.
Harry storms after him, "You never did, you bastard!" his voice cracks, and he slams the door shut. He lets out a choked sob, wiping at his eyes and nose.
"Hey," Louis hugs him, arm around his torso and neck. His hand holds the boy's head against his shoulder, fingers rubbing his scalp.
Harry doesn't know how long Louis was there, watching and listening, but he can't seem to care. Because he's hugging him and letting him cry about his jerk of an ex even when he shouldn't be.
Later that night, once he had calmed down and Louis eventually left, Harry's mum joined him in his room. He closed my notebook, and tossed it on his book bag on the floor. "Alright, tell me what happened," she tucks her legs under the duvet.
"Remember when you yelled at me for not wanting to drive Louis to school? And you said he's been through a lot?" she nods, and Harry can feel that dry feeling at the back of his throat, "um, well he told me about it... and showed me," he wipes his nose, "it was so bad, Mum," she uses the cuff of her sweater and wipes his eye.
"I know, honey," she murmurs.
"And Blake is an asshole," for once she doesn't hit his knee for swearing, "the past few months he was just so rude and a jerk and talked to me in really shitty ways sometimes, but it got worse towards the end. I think a lot of it had to do with jealousy, too, since I really like Louis," she smiles, but then hides it, "as much as I denied it, it was towards the end of Blake and I's relationship. And when we were on the trampoline we almost kissed, which I told Blake out of guilt, but even though we didn't kiss he treated it like we ran off and got married behind his back," he rolls his eyes.
"How come," she wonders.
Harry just shrugs, "Dunno. He pushed Louis a lot and punched him twice, and Louis freaked out from past experience, I guess. I figured that one out after he told me his past. I think being hit sent him to a bad thought place," he sniffles.
"I heard all he said today," she raises her eyebrows, "do you want to let it go or do something about it?"
"No," he shakes his head, "nothing. Just wanna ignore him."
"Okay," she nods, "and what about Louis?"
He suppress a smile, "Dunno. I think we're a thing, not sure if it's official, but we've kissed now and he holds my hand, so it's exciting," he giggles.
Mum shakes her head with a little laugh, "You're so cute, my baby," she stands and kisses the top of her sons head, "invite him to dinner, or summat."
"Okay," he watches her leave, a grin on his face and stars in his once broken eyes.
