- chapter 9 -

"I know I've said this before, but I'm surprised you haven't tried to get back together with him," Felix wanted to sound kind of light-hearted. However, when he saw the look the older man was giving him, he felt like he was only making things worse. Still, he drank another glass and kept talking, "I mean, you put so much into being with Jisung. Not to mention the whole shitty thing with your father... You tore everyone to shreds who got too close to you two. Including me."

He didn't know why he had added the last sentence. He sounded somehow bitter, but that was stupid - frustrated he drank another glass - because he knew that it would never have worked out with him and Jisung. Their relationship couldn't carry more than a good friendship and he knew that now.

On the other hand, Hyunjin had fought so hard for Jisung, despite all the circumstances, the obstacles his father and society had put in his way as a teenager.

"Only because I was afraid you might take him away from me. Even though you weren't even really serious about him."

Felix paused in his movement. Even though Hyunjin was going through a breakup and was under the influence of alcohol - because his soju bottle didn't look all that much fuller than his own, not to mention the beer - Felix felt that was absolutely presumptuous of him. "Oh, fuck you, Hyunjin. I was very serious about him!" it slipped out of him - uncontrollably and faster than he could grasp the thoughts.

Hyunjin shook his head determinedly and pointed at the Australian with the hand in which he held the soju glass. "No. No, you're way too blind when it comes to love, Felix. Just too stupid."

"Excuse me?!"

"No. You're always like this. The surfer guy last summer? He was head over heels for you. The hot chinese exchange student in the first semester? God, so fucking obvious in love with you. But you? Feeling the same, but doing nothing. Just a few examples, Lix, just a few ... want more?"

He would have loved to say some things to the blond-haired, but he didn't want to say anything he would regret in a sober state. So instead, he picked up the soju bottle and downed the rest of its contents.

Was that a better alternative? Probably not. And he regretted it as soon as the bitter-sweet taste mixed with the burning sensation in his throat.

But Hyunjin didn't seem to mind the behavior, instead, Felix felt its gaze far too intense and scrutinizing on him. There was something in his gaze that he could not place and he wanted to drown himself in the next glass of Soju.

"I know what it looks like when you love someone, Lix.", Hyunjin's voice now calm and rough, almost emphatic - the provocative undertone entirely gone.

"W-What? I-I know that too, don't I?!" stuttered Felix, completely caught off guard.

He noticed how the alcohol began to kick into his system with full force. He was getting far too warm and he could feel himself blushing. But he could see the same pink haze on his counterpart's cheeks.

Irritated, he watched as Hyunjin slowly walked around the counter - squeezing his hair into a half-bun with difficulty - his eyes not once leaving Felix's face. He stopped only when he was standing right in front of the younger, so close that his thighs pressed against his bent knees. One hand on Felix's thigh, the other on the cold marble of the kitchen island.

"Oh yeah? You really know that, Lix?" he breathed before leaning in.
