- chapter 29 -

Astonished, Felix looked back and forth between Hyunjin's smirking face and his hand held out to him - dancing?

It wasn't as if he hadn't noticed that the gala had turned into a kind of after-show party as soon as the presentations had come to an end. Dance music was playing and many of the guests had already gathered to dance in the middle of the glorious hall - it was a fascinating view.

He blinked as his brain slowly and sluggishly processed what was being said - instant heat shot up his face, and he could feel himself blushing.

"You want to dance with me?!" he lost all grip over facial expressions and gestures.

Not because he wouldn't like to dance with him - quite the opposite, he would have loved to drag Hyunjin onto the dance floor right away - only they were still in the midst of the public. Reporters and photographers stood on the side with greedy eyes, waiting for the next headline.

"Of course, I want to dance with you," Hyunjin had taken a step even closer to him, "Otherwise, I wouldn't have asked, Lix."

Gently, he put his fingers to Felix's chin so that their eyes could meet again after the silver-haired man had stared into blankness.

The smaller one' s heart fluttered in his chest. He felt the heartbeat pulsing even in his fingers, which Hyunjin now intertwined with his. And he would so gladly give in to temptation, give in to his heart.

I already have someone I like.

Tsk. My dad happened. He intercepted me last night and said he was going to give me hell if I didn't show up with a girl next time.

"No. No, we can't," Felix shook his head from the hold of Hyunjin's hand. And also tried to loosen their entwined fingers to put requisite distance between their bodies again, "Hyunjin, we really can't."

But the blond didn't even think about letting go of him but pulled him even closer with a slight tug.

"You're thinking too much again, Lix."

Hyunjin's breathy voice beat against his sensitive auricle - was nearly swallowed up by the turned-up music, yet it sent goosebumps sprouting over his body. He would be the end of him yet if he kept acting like this.

"Why don't you turn off your thoughts and rely on your heart alone, mh?"

Their upper bodies were nestled close together and Felix was sure that the taller one had to hear and feel his pulse beating loudly. Hyunjin's free arm had wrapped around him faster than he could have put space between them again - resting surely above his waist, burning through the sheer fabric of his shirt, right into his skin.

"You can-eeehh?!"

Suddenly he was standing with Hyunjin by the dancing crowd, no, in the dancing crowd. Because they were no longer standing, they were already dancing.

"Oh, oh my god. Oh, Fu-uck," Felix panicked as he tried to follow Hyunjin's energetic movements as he led him in his arms to the swaying music.

But the latter obviously didn't mind - grinning at Felix as if his birthday and Christmas had fallen on today - as did the curious looks from the other dancing couples. Only a chuckling "Are you okay?" the Korean murmured to him.

"Shit no. You're too fast, Hyune." halfway through the sentence, however, he had to start laughing. He was letting Hyunjin drag him along more than he was moving on his own - where was his damn sense of rhythm?

"But you're doing quite well." assured Hyunjin, amused. Slowing their steps, nevertheless, Felix synchronized with Hyunjin. Letting him take the lead, they danced more slowly arm in arm to the next song - could see their own smiling reflections in their counterpart's dark eyes.

"Since when are you the dancer between the two of us?"

To which the blond just continued to present him his Cheshire cat grin, and it was so warm, so soft, so familiar, so... so loving. That it took Felix's breath away and he tripped over his own feet.

He clutched at the older and was about to apologize when he felt Hyunjin laugh. It vibrated deep in his chest and against his own.

Goosebumps overcame him as simultaneous warmth washed over his body. Such incredible sense of comfort, he didn't want to break away from Hyunjin - leaning close to him, his head on his shoulder, their jowls touching lightly, their hands nestled together.

The old familiar sensation Hyunjin's body against his - he snuggled even closer. The familiar scent of Hyunjin began to envelop him as if clouding his senses.

In the next moment, a slow song began to play. Their dancing consisted hardly of more than a few steps, swaying to the beat, and yet it was overwhelming - magical.

"Felix.", Hyunjin murmured into his hair as he held him close. Hyunjin's right hand lightly stroked his lower back while Felix let his linger on his shoulder.

"Hyune.", Felix breathed back just as vaguely, yet full of longing. It was as if he suddenly became aware of everything so much more intensely. The gleaming throne room in the dimmed light, the dozens of dancing couples gently dancing with them to the beat of the slow music, the pond of the Japanese garden in which the clear starry sky was reflected, Hyunjin's presence.

He felt the blond-haired breathe a kiss against his hair.

It was suddenly as if all his pent-up emotions wanted to burst out of him, pressed against his eyes. A hot tear rolled down his cheek and another one.

But it was okay, just now it was okay, just now everything was okay.

His fingers found hold in Hyunjin's clothes. Completely lost in the dance, a blissful smile spread on his lips. After all, Hyunjin was with him - so everything had to be okay.

He didn't know how long they had been dancing like this, how many minutes or even songs had passed. But he wanted it to never end, wanted to stop time.

He exhaled deeply, letting the moment sink far in, settle in his heart. There was so much tension between them, it was tender as well as sensual and passionate. He could feel the tension between them, around them - he didn't want to, no, he couldn't just be making it up.

If they were not in public, Felix would have long since leaned up to Hyunjin and kissed him - slowly, with tongue and to the rhythm of the music. His heart skipped a beat at the idea, and he let out a soft sigh.

"Is something wrong?"

Felix closed his eyes as he shallowly shook his head, " Uh-uh, nothing."

Only to have his eyes flutter open the next moment as Hyunjin's lips pressed against his - soft and so gentle. When their lips touched, he could have sworn the world stopped for a moment. For it was as if the kiss was fragile, so tender it felt, so precious, as his tongue slowly slid into his mouth.

Shutting his eyes again, he wrapped his arms around Hyunjin's neck and felt his hands wander over his body, finally lingering in his silver strands. Made him forget everything around him - only they both existed in the seemingly endless moment.

He never wanted to forget this - the harmonious sounds of the music, the dazzling ambiance, but most of all Hyunjin.

Hwang Hyunjin.

The shorter one pressed further into the kiss, standing on tiptoe to deepen the kiss.

If this would be a dream, he would never want to wake up. Because everything was perfect, until... a dancing couple bumped against them with force and the hands of time started running again, catapulting them back to reality.

Torn from their kiss, they stared first at the whispering couple, then at each other - they had stopped while kissing, in the middle of the dance floor. They couldn't help but grin at each other - lips swollen and eyes sparkling.

"How about we get out of here?"

"Nothing would be better than that."

For this chap, I would like to give kudos to Lenarax. <33 Because without her, I wouldn't have written the dance scene (I hope it turned out well ˆˆ) and the story would have taken quite a different turn or two.
