".أنت يا شمس يا قمر وكل ما عندي من النجوم"
(You are my sun, my moon and all my stars.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's been five days of shopping and endless planning. Today is the day. Today is the day Adam and I become officially engaged. My heart seems to race whenever I think of him or the ceremony. I have already found the perfect dress.
The engagement ceremony starts at three o'clock. My aunt is with my mum in the garden, that's where the event is taking place. My cousins are with my sister in the guest room talking and I am in my room overthinking and anxious. Four hours to the engagement ceremony and I still haven't showered. I am still in my pyjamas.
My sister rushed into my room with my cousins behind her. "Assalam alaykum future Mrs Adam," my sister said loudly.
"Walikum Salam," I replied.
"Ohh Halaat I can see your cheeks have turned pink and you have only heard you beloveds name what will happen when you see him," my cousin Amina teased.
"Hahah, Adam must be very special to be able tame Hala. I never thought Halaat would ever get married. I remember Hala saying she will never get married unless the guy is absolutely perfect," my cousin Sarah said. I did say I wouldn't get married unless the guy is prefect but in my defence I was sixteen I said a lot of things.
"Hah leave my sister alone, you are causing her to blush even more. Adam will murder us if we make his bride angry," Ayat said. My cousins and my sister sat on my bed and we started talking about our childhood memories and than my cousins started teasing me again. After a while, my cousins left my room and went to get ready in the guest room. One by one they left my room. It was peace at last.
I decided to take a bath, a long warm bath with bubbles. I got out of the bath and wore a casual outfit. Ayat started doing my make up, I told her I didn't want too much make up. She used a shiny silver shade and blue eye shadow, she also applied eye liner which is so fleek and than did my thick eyebrows. I loved my make up, it was perfect. It was almost time to the ceremony and my heart was surprisingly calm.
It was almost three so I wore my dress, that my mother and Ayat helped me choose. A long sleeved light blue dress sequenced with white tiny flowers and a puffy skirt with a long tail.
Ayat helped me by closing the zip of the dress and starred at me in awe. I did the hijab design I wanted and wore my white sparkly ankle strap platform high heels. I could barely walk in them but Ayat insisted I wear them.
"Mashallah ya Halaat you will leave Adam speechless," my sister commented. I smiled and hugged my sister. My mother came into the room along with my aunt. They both hugged me and kissed on the forehead, my mum than made a dua(prayer) for me. She was almost in tears but she controlled herself. She's dramatic at times. Soon after my cousins joined us, all well dressed and pampered. My whole family was in beautiful gowns and expensive jewellery.
I was told to wait in my room until Adam's family arrived. So my cousins and Ayat decided to stay in my room and take selfies with me.
My sister then informed me that Adam and his family have arrived. As I was going down the stairs I almost lost my balance, Ayat had to help me go down the stairs. I am not used walking in heels. I made my way to the garden which was beautiful, the red and white petals to lead the way.
I entered the tent and my eyes instantly knew where to look. Adam... Standing at the other side of the tent looking dashing. With every step I took towards him, my heart beat increased. When I finally reached infront of him, I lost my balance because of the heels and fell into his arms but he managed to catch me. His strong grip managed to hold my waist and help me up. I knew I shouldn't have worn the heels.
I was shy I admit, I couldn't face him I couldn't look into his mesmerising eyes. I knew he would enchant me. When he held my cold hand and put the ring on my finger, I was stunned and amazed. A simple beautiful and elegant ring dancing on my finger. I loved it.
All of the guests started cheering. After that we cut a two layered vanila cake with white fondant decorated with white and red roses at the bottom. After cutting the cake everyone started socializing. Hussein decided to talk to Adam. I could see Hussein's eyes filled with excitement and happiness. My mother, aunt and my future mother in law talked, I am sure about the wedding. Everyone seemed to be enjoying the ceremony.
Jamila and I started taking selfies. Jamila introduced me to her older sisters, my other sister in laws. Hanan and Mina. They were so charming and beautiful. All they talked about was how beautiful I looked and how perfect I am for Adam. I blushed reviling my shyness.
Jamila also introduced me to Waleed, Layla, Samiha and Samia. The nieces and nephew of Adam, they were so nice and well mannered(mashallah). Layla asked me if I was a princess all I did was laugh, if only Hussein had heard the question...
Adam and I sat next to each other but I didn't dare look at him but I noticed his quick glances that made my heart flutter. Adam was close to me I felt safe but so nervous.
The guest ate, took pictures and enjoyed themselves. Everyone was happy including me. Two hours had passed by and all the guests left.
Adam's POV.
All my sisters were getting ready and so was my mother. The only people that seemed to be ready is my father and I. My father started complaining on how women always take long to get ready, and advised me on how to be patient with my wife.
Today I am going to engage Halaat. I can't wait too see her brown eyes that I had longed to stare at for five days. I already picked out the ring, a beautiful 3 carat round cute diamond ring that will fit her finger perfectly.
"Uncle Adam my mum is calling you," Samia said. Samia one of Hanan's daughter, she's thirteen years old and has a twin sister called Samiha. They are identical twins I couldn't tell them apart until they were five years old, they started having different likes and personalities. I went to Hanan who was in Jamila's room getting ready.
"Adam do you have the ring?" She asked worriedly.
"Yes Hanan I have the ring," I said assuring her.
"I can't believe my brother is going to get married soon. I am so happy for you, may God keep you happy always," she said and hugged me. After ten more minutes of waiting, everyone was ready including my nieces and nephew.
We reached Halaat's place and excitement took over. I wanted to see her as soon as possible. I wanted to see her radiant face. As we got out of the car and entered the house we were welcomed by Halaat's mum and another lady who shared similar looks with Halaat's mum.
We were lead to the garden where the tent was placed and red and white petals on grass to lead the way. It's beautiful in the tent, tables and chairs were placed all dressed in blue with bouquet of lilies on the table. As I sat there waiting for Halaat. I noticed everyone turning their heads to the entrance of the tent.
I stood up as soon as I saw an angel walk into the tent dressed in blue that reminded me of the calm ocean. Words couldn't describe how stunning she looked in that gown.
Her balance was unsure, I noticed. Every step she took towards me made my heart calmer and calmer. She was surely my shore...
When she finally stood in front of me I couldn't think of anything but how stunning she looks. Her shy eyes barely looked at me and all I wanted to do was look in them. Halaat almost fall, I managed to catch her. As usual clumsy and unsteady. I have gotten used to her ways.
I greeted her and she replied my greeting with a smile. I than removed the ring from the box that I held and took her gentle hands that felt cold when I touched them and put the ring on her finger. Her look on her face was priceless, I could tell she loved the ring. Everyone cheered and took pictures and congratulated us. It was all happiness and smiles.
