Other external injuries include slashes to the brachial artery, and the abdomen along with the roman numeral I (one) was carved into his chest. At the scene of the crime, there were passive blood stains covering the floor, leading from part of the house with transfer stains on the wall above larger passive stains and experitive stains implying the victim supported himself while fleeing from his killer. In the living room, near where the body was found, there were medium impact stains coating part of the wall with a lack of cast off stains on the adjacent wall, implying a single, quick slash to the throat, severing the carotid artery before being hanged.

After using bloodstain analysis, we were able to determine that the attack started in the victims bedroom, with the slashes to the brachial arteries. The victim them left the bed and was slashed in the gut, as the victim fled the room before the blade was then cleaned on the victim's bed sheets, however, no prints other than the victims were found at the crime scene. The victim then fled to the living room, holding his abdomen with his left hand as his right stayed limp by his side, before reaching we do know the victim coughed up blood before continuing into the living room, where he attempted a final stand. The suspect then took the blade and deliver one quick slash to the throat, severing the carotid artery, killing the victim almost instantly. However, unlike the other cases, witnesses saw a taller man enter the house unattended holding what looked like a weapon and police were dispatched at 0700.

When detective Jonathan Phelps and I (detective Cole Valentine) arrived on scene, I gathered witness testimony, and followed the accounts getting a fairly good description of the suspect, determining that he was a white male, approximately 5' 10 to 6' tall with jet black hair and some witnesses saw him with piercing red eyes as he ran past them, that fact however distracted from further recollection of the suspect's appearance. Upon an inspection of the area, Detective Phelps and I met a person matching the description of our suspect. We announced our presence and intentions, the suspect drew a pistol, later to be identified as a Taurus PT22. We told him to lower his weapon and at this point he fired hitting me in the left shoulder. Detective Phelps was able to fire and hit the suspect, not killing him but taking him to the ground. We then proceeded to arrest the suspect.
