The Walk.
Kyo's brown eyes watch as Bepo bounds across the wet field, the girl walking in-line with the doctor beside her as gentle rain drips around them, her arm loosely linked to his own since he has a habit of walking slightly faster than her at their regular speeds.
She has never been so touchy with a man before now, this one just draws her in like a moth to a flame. At least this closeness keeps her warm, she's beginning to wish she had worn a coat for this little walk of theirs.
Her hair becoming tousled from the light drizzle and a few locks sticking to the sides of her face, her mascara starting to smudge underneath her eyes, though Trafalgar doesn't seem to be taking much notice of it.
"Would you rather achieve your dreams or make money?" He quietly questions as his golden eyes follow his pet, the pair had decided to play a little game of 'would you rather' since they're both curious people, this way they can fish for as much information as they like.
"Make money." The redhead answers without hesitation, earning herself an inquisitive frown in return. "Dreams are a waste of time."
"Oh? What makes you say that?"
"Well...you drive yourself crazy trying to achieve them, then you usually die before getting what you want anyway, what's the point?" Not exactly the most ambitious answer but it's a truthful one nonetheless.
Well, truthful as far as she's concerned, anyway.
"Did you drive yourself crazy trying to become an assistant curator?" She can see a flicker of something in Law's eyes with that inquiry but the emotion doesn't quite compute to her, she hadn't seen anything like it before.
"...Yes." She decides against explaining further though, instead making an attempt to change the subject. "So, would you rather drink with friends or drink with family?" The question may or may not be inspired by her roommate who is likely still struggling to get out of bed.
She partly wonders if Law could be a heavy drinker himself.
"I can't relax around Cora-san when we're drinking, he's too clumsy. " Her brow quirking at the name he uses, she can't recall hearing that one before but still listening as he continues. "So I'd rather drink with friends, personally."
"Do you even have friends, Trafalgar?"
"Hmph. Not an offensive question at all, Kyo-ya." He smoothly jests but he doesn't seem too fazed, a small smirk forever decorating his face as he gently tugs her underneath a tree to avoid the rain as it begins to fall harder, the drops noticeably growing larger. "I have a few friends, Penguin and Shachi, most notably. We work together."
"Oh? Such unique names."
"What about you? I don't think I've ever asked about your friends."
"Well, you asked if I was dating one of them." The redhead lightly teases, earning herself a small pout from the doctor, her arms crossing over her chest and hands gently rubbing her biceps through her jumper, trying to discreetly warm herself up a little. "There's Ace and Shanks, as you're aware...Sabo, Lotte, and...that's it, really."
"Should I ask if you're dating the others too?" His sarcasm drawing a low giggle from her lips, her hand instinctively raising in attempts to hide her grin, though she's unable to do so when Law gently grips her wrist and prevents her.
"Why do you always hide your smile?" Her brain seems to scramble at that question, her wide eyes staring helplessly into his own as she tries to conjure up an eligible response, suddenly becoming very conscious of her breathing when she realizes just how close he is to her face once again.
She hadn't even realised she does such a thing until now.
"...Force of habit." Her voice must be quieter than a whisper by this point.
The raven doesn't respond to her immediately, his unwavering stare causing her senses to go haywire, she could almost hear her heart pounding in her ears as she silently racks her brain for something else to say but he closes the gap before she has the chance. His lips soft and inviting as they connect to hers, a spark seemingly igniting between them but he's sure not to pressure her too much, breaking the contact briefly to observe her reaction.
Her stare meeting his temporarily before her orbs gradually drift back down toward his mouth, the last thing she wants is to seem disinterested, slowly leaning into him once again and copying his previous actions, her lips locking onto his own and his goatee brushing against her chin. It's the first time she had even attempted something such as this and it's certainly scary but Law seems patient enough.
The raven smirking vaguely against her lips as his warm hands cup her face, his thumb caressing her damp cheekbone and allowing her to break away for a moment before he initiates the next kiss. It feels like a small beam of electricity is zapping through her core, her fingers delicately trembling as her hands rest against Law's abs, not that she can really feel them through his thick hoodie.
Which is probably a good thing since she's nervous enough already.
Upon breaking away his eyes scan her face once again, as if he was worried she'd be regretting the action but he does not speak.
"I...don't often kiss people." Much to her surprise, he actually snickers at her words very briefly, his arm draping loosely across the back of her shoulders as he pulls her against his chest.
This is probably the first time she hasn't flinched when somebody has touched her back, her brain still in quite a daze as her eyes follow Bepo, watching while the dog bundles through dirty puddles, mud tainting his bright fur and drawing a discreet smile to her lips.
"Are you cold, Kyo-ya?"
"No, not anymore..." In fact, she practically feels like she's on fire.
Her arms hesitantly sliding around his torso whilst her head relaxes fully against his upper body, her fingertips nervously fiddling with his clothing, the faint pitter-patter of the rain against the leaves calming her nerves somewhat at least, that as well as the smell of the raven's cologne.
She strangely feels quite safe in his arms, she can even hear his heart vaguely beating in her ear through the rain, the sounds becoming a small comfort to her.
For such a stoic man, he has a peaceful aura.
"I'll need a shower when I get home, I have an event to attend tonight." At this point she's just making small talk, which is usually something she hates, if a conversation has no purpose then she rather not waste time on it.
But this man is anything but a waste of her time.
"You too? What are you attending?" His question stirring her own curiosity as she peeks up at him, her expression mostly calm although the silent wonder must be written all over her face since a flicker of amusement tints Law's eyes.
But it would seem he isn't going to share unless she does.
"It's a networking event, pa insists we show our faces." Her attention being half-torn from the subject when she notices Bepo sat beside a puddle, covered in dirt and a big grin adorning his fluffy face.
That would be cute on my wall.
"Is that so? Mine's a networking event too, perhaps I'll see you there."
"I hope you know I'll be avoiding you." Despite her soft tone, she's not exactly joking, pulling away from the doctor's embrace finally as she reaches into her handbag and takes out the camera. "For your own good, of course."
"Always a charmer, Kyo-ya." At least he doesn't distract her too much, simply just watching as she snaps a couple of photos of his dog, taking the images in her hand and giving them a gentle wave whilst they develop. "Would Hawk-ya really hate me for dating you?"
"Dating?" The redhead echoes, a small smile gracing her features as she hands one of the pictures to the surgeon, watching as he observes it while continuing. "So this is a relationship to you, is it?"
No, she hasn't forgotten how he teased her during the coffee date and yes, she has been waiting for an opportunity to get even with him since that day.
"If Hawk-ya doesn't castrate me for it."
"Hm...he may be tempted to, yes."
Law mildly frowning at her warning but not exactly arguing with it, his golden eyes resting on her in deep thought before finally, he smirks again. "I guess I'll take my chances." If only he knew how hectic that made her heart go, her cheeks heating up like mad as he leans in to capture her lips again, breaking the contact much quicker this time however. "You never mentioned you were into photography, by the way."
"Only when something catches my eye."
