The Shubunkins.
Aquariums are so pretty.
Kyo watches the fish swim around the enclosure, the dark blue display light reflecting across her features as her brown orbs scan each potential pet and trying to figure out which ones she'll be taking home, Lotte already set the tank up for her at home - the brunette picked one with a night and day-time light so they will have the most realistic living experience.
Of course she was a little disappointed that Kyo would be keeping them in her room, apparently she was hoping they would've been out in the living room but she didn't protest at least.
The redhead quickly finishing her doughnut while Lotte brings over an employee, the brunette has a tendency of buying this girl food, presumably because she's gathered there's some kind of food avoidance problem going on.
But it isn't such a hindrance; the girl only struggles to eat under severe distress but as of late, she has found herself feeling quite calm - giddy even - she'd like to say it isn't because of Trafalgar but that would be a lie.
Ever since she has been in a relationship with him, she finds herself feeling oddly secure.
"Yes, she wanted some Shubunkins." Lotte's voice finally reaching her ears as she approaches with two boys; one with pink hair and one with long blonde hair, the pinkette wearing an energetic smile while the other employee holds open a plastic bag filled with water.
"Alright, just let us know which ones you'd like!" The pinkette chimes while stopping before the redhead and immediately, her eyes scan his shirt for a name tag, not that it's hard to find at all, it's written on quite a large badge pinned to his clothing.
Koby...
"I shall." She murmurs while redirecting her focus back to the aquarium, there was one fish in particular who caught her eye when the light shined off it's scales; it was mostly white and had black spots, she thought it was quite pretty, her finger gently pressing against the glass when she spots the fish again away from the others. "This one..."
Lotte instantly leaning in beside the girl to analyse the fish herself, a smile playing on her lips as she thoughtfully hums to herself. "He looks healthy enough, kind of reminds me of my cousin with his little patterns." She jests, likely referring to the hat Law wears, the joke even gaining a small smile from the redhead. "Is that why you want this one~?"
"No, he's just cute..." Kyo's voice merely a whisper as she watches Koby scoop the fish out and gently place it into the plastic bag, her eyes scanning the rest of the fish thoughtfully, looking for a second one. "I like his scales."
"Heh, Law's or the fish?" The brunette scoffs from beside her, the girl also seemingly searching the creatures, a small grin gracing her lips as she points out one that's smaller than the rest. "That's cute too~!"
The redhead's eyes following Lotte's finger to the goldfish, it's mostly red with a white side, a few black dots decorating both it's head and body, it follows the brunette's digit as if it were hungry or fascinated by her.
It does seem like quite the character.
"I'll take this one too." Kyo lightly murmurs, her finger gesturing toward the small-fry also, earning herself a nod from the pinkette as he begins trying to catch it.
"Where is my cousin today anyway?" The brunette questions while they watch Koby struggle, seems the fish is faster than he was expecting, the boy's smile slowly starting to fade as he uses the little net to chase it around the tank.
"I believe he said something about brushing up on heart palpitations." The redhead's response only earning her a small scoff in return.
"Is that how you two talk dirty to each other or something?" Lotte's sarcasm does make her roommate smirk however, the redhead trying to cover the little smile with her fist, one cannot deny that the brunette is amusing company. "I've been meaning to ask, did you ever have a crush on anybody before Law?"
"Hm? No, not recently, anyway." The redhead murmurs while following the boys to the counter, already getting her purse ready whilst Lotte lingers behind. "I once had a thing for Shanks when I was 8, if that counts."
Judging by the snort that erupts from the brunette, one would assume that she's already interested in hearing more, a wide grin on her lips as she folds her arms over her chest. "Wait, what~?"
"Yes, all he did was buy me a pack of crayons." Kyo lightly snickering at her own expense while she pays for the fish, taking the bag and gently bringing it to her chest, her eyes watching them swim in circles. "Anyway, I wish to get these home quickly, I worry that keeping them in a bag--"
"Just to be clear though, he didn't...take advantage or anything, right?" The question immediately drawing Kyo's attention, the brunette's expression suddenly falling serious as she awaits an answer, it would seem that Lotte has a protective streak deep down.
"Oh, no-no, I'd wager he never knew anything about it."
"Okay, good. And the crush is gone now, right?"
"Absolutely, when you get older, it becomes much easier to differentiate between loving someone romantically and loving them like a parental figure." The redhead begins to explain, making her way out of the shop with her friend. "The affection I have for Shanks these days is the kind that one might feel for an uncle or a godfather, I certainly couldn't stomach the mere thought of kissing him."
A wicked giggle escaping Lotte's lips at her words, the brunette kindly taking the fish out of Kyo's hands when they reach the car since the redhead is the one driving, a reassuring smile on her face. "I used to have a crush on Marco, if it makes you feel any better."
"Ace's brother?" Kyo inquires while letting the girl take the fish, making sure to open the door for her friend also, so that there is less chance of her dropping the little marine animals.
"M'yeah, I was always shy around him though so it never really went anywhere." Kyo's brows furrowing at that as she closes the door behind the girl, circling around to the driver's side of the car and climbing in before starting the engine.
"So, you knew Marco personally? How so?"
"He would attend the events with Edward Newgate." Suddenly, it all makes sense, Thatch and Marco are the two who are most likely to attend functions with their pops, of course she would have met him at one. "He was always so kind to me and I loved his voice."
"Hm? You don't still have eyes for him, do you?" The redhead softly teases, her eyes never leaving the road as a smirk spreads across her red lips.
"No way, I haven't spoken to him in years."
Probably a good thing, Kid would likely hate rivalry.
