Student Life.

The final exam is tomorrow.

She can smell the caffeine every time she sweats, her hands trembling like mad as her tired orbs skim the pages of her History book, the whites of her eyes had long gone bright red and the bags under her eyes would have some believing she hasn't slept in a year.

She has been getting the odd 2 hour nap this week but between working the nightshift and her studies, as well as needing to check in on Drake during the day, she is exhausted.

"Soldiers lived in trenches and many suffered from trench foot..." She reads aloud, her elbow resting on the dining table as her hand rests against her cheek, propping her up as the words before her begin to blur.

She attempts to blink away the distortion although it does her little good, her stomach rumbling and drawing a sigh from her lips as she straightens up in her seat, her gaze slowly trailing toward the snacks Thatch had made for her.

She hasn't touched them since he left, that was almost a week ago now.

Perhaps eating will help.

The mere idea causes her to frown, her hands hesitantly reaching out for the container, loosely grabbing and dragging it toward her as her eyes scan the treats. They don't appear mouldy so it can't hurt to eat one or two things, although she still can't help but grimace as she opens the tub, her appetite is essentially non-existent so this is always a struggle.

Plucking a jam tart from the box, she stares at it for a moment, a scowl decorating her features as she pouts to herself, taking a small breath before leaning in and taking a bite out of the pastry.

Every single sensation hits like a hurricane and sends goosebumps along her skin; the crumbling of the pastry, the cold and wet texture of strawberry jam, the sweet taste. It makes her stomach turn to think she hasn't even swallowed the damn food yet.

She tries to push away the unpleasant feelings while forcing herself to chew, her jaw feeling like some kind of mechanism at this point, she isn't enjoying her meal as one should. This feels more like a chore.

The girl instinctively pressing the back of her hand against her mouth, subtly denying herself the luxury of just spitting it out before forcing herself to swallow, her stomach turning even more when she feels the food slide down her throat and her eyes watering as the sickly feeling rises.

Just eat this one bite!

She takes a breath once the sickly feeling subsides, a single droplet of sweat rolling down her temple as she recollects herself. "Easy." She lies to herself, her gaze returning to the half-eaten treat before she shoves the remainder into her mouth and begins to chew.

If you ate one bite, you can eat another.

Naturally, this was a mistake.

Her stomach twisting in defiance as a wave of heat rushes to her face, the girl springing from her seat and hotfooting her way to the kitchen sink, retching into the ceramic basin and watching as the jam tart as well as a pint of coffee comes spraying out of her mouth, her eyes watering as she vomits back up whatever progress she had made to her diet.

It's a shame, she really thought she could get a handle on it this time.

Her hand reaching out to the faucet when she finally finishes being sick, turning on the water and watching as it rinses away the evidence of what had just transpired here, her expression emotionless.

You are disgusting.

Once she had grabbed some surface cleaner and washed the basin more thoroughly, she makes her way back to the dining table, pushing the food container away as she focuses her attention back on the paragraph splayed out before her, her vision still slightly blurry but she tries to read past that regardless.

"Trench foot is caused by wet and soggy--" Her phone distracting her as it vibrates, her screen lighting up as a message appears on-screen.

Ace:

"We're having a party at my house tonight, come join!!"

Her brows furrowing as she swipes the message away, simply choosing to ignore it as her eyes flicker back to her page. "By wet and soggy conditions which the soldiers from the first world war were exposed to--" Her phone buzzing once and interrupting her flow as a loud sigh pushes past her lips.

Ace:

"I'm outside your house by the way so you better come willingly otherwise I'm dragging you."

Her brows furrowing at the message as a loud and hollow knock sounds at the door, the noise echoing throughout the whole building and causing her ears to twinge as she grunts to herself.

Leave me alone.

Of course, she soon ends up being dragged to the party regardless of her feelings, still trying to read her notes but is distracted once again as Ace sits across from her with a wide grin.

"You went to school with Eustass Kid?" That question confuses her somewhat, her eyes rising from the book and her brow quirked as a curious hum leaves her lips, her gaze instinctively glancing over at the male in question to see him socialising with a few of his friends in the distance, the group all gathered around the drinks table.

"Yes...why?" They didn't speak at all during that time, Kid was known for being a bad boy and a brute, he was also in the year above her so she never had to interact with him - something she is rather thankful for admittedly.

"Ha, Bonney thought you two were siblings~!" The raven playfully chimes, his cheeks slightly reddened due to intoxication as he sets up two shot glasses, filling them both with sourz. "Have a shot for every time you've heard that~!"

"This would be the first time." She mumbles with a bored tone while taking the shot, not hesitating as she brings the liquid to her lips and downing it in one, she's not exactly a lightweight so a shot shouldn't hurt.

Although it certainly won't help with her lack of vision.

"I must leave now." She calmly murmurs while rising from her seat, immediately drawing a pout to Ace's face as he mirrors her action, his onyx eyes filled with disappointment.

"You've only been here for an hour!"

"I have to do the nightshift."

"Ugh! Okay, but have one more drink for the road, deal~?!"

"If I must."
