Drinks On Ace.
Seems the new film works rather well.
Kyo's pale hand clasping onto the camera as she subtly takes a photo of the sight before her, it's a simple neon light in the shape of a heart but it gives off such a pretty red glow, the girl couldn't resist taking a snap of it while nobody was looking.
Her hand taking the photo and giving it a subtle wave, waiting for the picture to develop as her eyes scan the rest of the neon decorations on the wall; one being a cocktail, another looking like a flamingo and the final one being a smiley face.
But it was the heart that caught her eye above them all, she liked the aesthetic most.
A small tap on her shoulder tears her attention away from the décor, instinctively leaning the photo against her chest to hide it as her brows furrow and her orbs land on Ace, the freckled boy looking beyond wrecked as he sways from side-to-side with a goofy grin.
"What do you want?" A bit cold perhaps but that's nothing new, her response only making the guy giggle as he gestures toward the dancefloor.
"You never said your roommate was a party animal." Kyo's eyes curiously following his at the claim, spotting the brunette off in the distance and watching as she dances with a beer in one hand and a shot in the other, not ceasing her movements in the slightest whilst bringing the shot to her lips and gulping it down before she takes a sip of her beer.
She's definitely used to this kind of thing, by the looks of it.
"And? Isn't that what parties are for?" The redhead simply murmurs while tucking the photo into her handbag, her eyes returning to her closest friend and watching as he chuckles to himself carelessly, waving a dismissive hand.
"I wasn't complaining, relaaax~! I was just surprised is all~!" His speech audibly slurred all over the place as he grabs a bottle from the drinks table beside her, pouring a shot and sliding it toward the redhead before making himself one also. "It's nice to see people having fun and getting drunk at my parties, you should try it sometime~!"
Last time I got drunk with you, I got a tattoo and several piercings.
But a single shot never hurt anyone.
Of course once she downs that, Ace then hands her a beer, much to her dismay.
"I don't wish to get drunk, Ace." The redhead softly protests over the music, attempting to pass the beer bottle back to him but he refuses to take it, merely just smiling as the girl pokes his chest with it. "I have work tomorrow and I want to take some photos for my wall."
The raven's brows quirk at that last sentence, probably because it's the only part he listened to, his head lightly tilting to the side as his gaze slides down to the camera in her hands, a confidence radiating from him as his grin widens. "Okay, let's make a deal!" He begins while plucking the device out of his friend's hand, watching as horror immediately begins to fill her features since she wouldn't trust him to handle it whilst intoxicated, though this doesn't stop him from propositioning her. "I will get Sabo to take some awesome photos for you, but only if you have a few drinks and let your hair down~!"
A frown still very-much denting her features as she stares at her helpless camera, a deep pout on her lips as her brow twitches but she can't resist considering it, Sabo is a good little photographer after all and it is her night off so perhaps a little indulgence wouldn't hurt.
Her gaze once again shifting off toward her roommate and watching as the brunette converses with Bartolomeo, apparently Luffy invited him, in fact she'd assume most of the damn city is here. These boys are popular, there's no denying that.
"He likes her by the way~!" Ace's voice earning a small hum from the redhead, curiosity filling her eyes although her stare doesn't leave the two. "Barto likes your friend, he keeps looking for reasons to touch her shoulder and he stares at her like she's a goddess, any idiot can see that he's got a little crush~!"
Well, any idiot except a few, Kyo personally couldn't see it herself although she's not too familiar with infatuations so it shouldn't be such a shock that she can't see obvious signs. She can read a lot in a person; fear, mockery, relaxation, but not love.
That's an emotion she has never learnt.
"Do you think she likes him back?"
"Hahaha~! No way~!" Ace brutally answers as the redhead's stare returns to him, the boy bringing his beer to his lips, speaking once more before he begins to drink; "She looks at him like an old woman would look at a cat or something~!"
That response causing the girl to blink as bewilderment enters her features, her mind slowly trying to piece together just what the hell he meant by that, barely registering Bonney as she appears beside him and tugs on his hand, it would seem the pinkette wants to dance.
Of course Ace doesn't decline, simply following her lead, though he says one more thing before he's pulled fully out of earshot; "Now get drunk! I'll make sure Sabo gets some pictures~!"
And just like that, she is left alone with her beer and fearing for her little camera's life, a small hum rumbling in her throat as she scans the large room. She doesn't recognise many guests and the ones who are familiar to her seem occupied by drinking, joking and dancing - well, that is until she spots a certain raven sitting by himself with a beer, looking as equally displeased to be here.
She hates being the one to initiate a conversation but it still beats lingering around by herself.
The girl gulping down several large mouthfuls of her beer before she reluctantly approaches his table, between the shot and beer-guzzling, she can already feel the slight tingle in her senses as intoxication slowly seeps in.
The raven's eyes meeting hers as she reaches the table and a small smile playing on her lips while she takes a seat opposite him, she doesn't quite know why she feels so nervous suddenly but she at least tries to shrug off the emotion while greeting him.
"I didn't think parties were your forte, Trafalgar." Her observation merely earning her a smirk in return, the sight tugging on something deep within her chest. His eyes still narrowed although they do seem to lighten up ever so slightly at her presence while he leans back in his seat, his hands fiddling with a half-empty beer bottle.
"Between Luffy and my cousin nagging at me to attend, I didn't really have the choice." His answer certainly surprises the girl, that's for damned sure. She didn't see Lotte text or call anybody on the way over here and she doubts they have a cousin telepathy thing going on since they're apparently not related by blood.
Perhaps she messaged him after arriving...?
"What about you, Kyo-ya? I would have thought you had work tonight, what was your job again - a night guard?" His smug question instantly bringing a small glare to her eyes, though it's very obvious he was teasing her on purpose, his eyes studying her own and seemingly waiting for a heated reaction.
Not that she plans to give him what he wants.
"That's what Shanks said, is it not?" Since he's using it as ammo to tease her with, it's only safe to assume he noticed the face like thunder she had when the landlord got the job title wrong, seems Law is a very observant man.
Not to mention he has a good memory.
"I like to hear it from the horse's mouth."
"Horse?" Her tone riddled with feigned offense and much to her surprise, she actually manages to make his smirk widen, a small huff escaping his lips as if he had just stifled a bit of laughter and of course there's no way she's going to let that go unaddressed. "Oh? Do you find me amusing, Trafalgar?"
The question does soften his expression slightly as he ducks his head under his hat, all she can really see from her position is his mouth, she'll be able to read some of his emotions through his smirk but not all of them.
Why does the most interesting person in the room have to be so difficult?
Her stare taking in his smaller details while he's silent; his goatee and sideburns, the tip of his nose, the curve of his lips and finally, the tattoos decorating his hands. It's the first time she has noticed them, her brows lightly furrowing at the word 'DEATH' written across his fingers.
Interesting.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" His calm voice snapping her attention back to his face, not that she can see much of it, only his smug smile before he brings his beer to his lips and takes a sip.
Little to knowledge he could still see her from underneath the headwear, noticing how she practically devoured him with her gaze alone, as well as the small glimmer of fascination in her eyes when she saw his ink.
It's strange, usually people are too intimidated to stare at him like this.
"I'm merely trying to read you." The girl's honesty causing his brow to raise and the corner of his mouth to twitch, he hadn't expected her to be so brash. "If you think about it, I'm at a disadvantage here, you know where I work and live but...I know nothing about you. Wouldn't you be curious if you were in my position?"
She doesn't miss how his cheeks darken at that, it isn't quite a blush but there is a subtle hue dusting them, perhaps he's a shy man underneath that wit and smirk. "What do you want to know?" His voice soft but still sounding slightly cautious as his golden eyes lock with her own, he has the same wariness as his cousin so immediately, she decides to choose her questions wisely.
"What is your job title?"
"Doctor. I specialise in cardiology but I've studied all fields of medical research." Her eyes slowly widening as the information sinks in, she hadn't expected that answer, especially since he has such a word tattooed on his fingers.
Although, doctors do wear gloves a lot of the time and if cardiology is what she thinks, that would mean his patients will be unconscious regardless since he'll be working on their hearts, so perhaps his tattoos simply do not matter in those circumstances.
"What?" His voice sounding again, dragging her out of her thoughts as her wide eyes stare into his, he almost looks annoyed by her slight change in mood.
"How old are you?" Her inquiry seems to have the man completely lost, his dark brows knitting together as he stares back at her, setting down his now-empty bottle before hesitantly answering.
"26. Why?"
"And you have all that knowledge?" She can't quite suppress the shock in her tone, her eyes studying his like mad but she can't find any indication that he's lying to her, he either has a good pokerface or he is in fact a very intelligent man. "...Amazing."
"Hm. Something tells me you have a few surprises of your own, Kyo-ya." Suddenly she feels like an ant under a magnifying glass, she knows art and history above all else but that's not too impressive in comparison, a small pout etching into her features as her gaze trails off to the side.
Well, it's better than nothing.
Of course the raven doesn't miss that shift in her confidence - "Are you here to keep an eye on your cousin then?" - Or that change of subject.
It would seem he has struck a nerve.
"I've told you two things now, haven't I? That makes us even." He challenges her, half-expecting her to bite back but when she doesn't, he decides to press further. "Tell me another thing about yourself and I might be tempted to even the score."
Hm?
"What do you wish to know?"
"How long have you known Freckle-ya?"
Freckle-ya? As in Ace?
Why would he want to know that?
