An Annoyed Father.
Why am I here?
Bored would be an understatement.
Kyo's eyes scanning the mingling guests as she sips her wine, she's restricted to a single glass since she's the one driving tonight.
Of course she had to abandon Lotte the moment they entered the building since the brunette will be around Doflamingo for most of the night, a man that Kyo's father was very clear about avoiding so here she is now; sitting alone at her table and watching Mihawk in the distance.
It would seem that the hawkish male has been adopted by Shanks and his band of misfits; she isn't sure who most of them are or what they're here for; she knows Shanks still has property to rent out and Ben Beckman sells cars but the others are a mystery to her.
A lifeless sigh drifting from her red lips as her stare begins to wander, soon spotting Law at his own table; he's sat with a tall blonde man and from his height, hair colour and association to the raven, she would assume that it's Rocinante - a subtle smile spreading across her lips when her observant gaze takes in the older man's clothing, he's wearing a pink heart-themed waistcoat, an interesting fashion choice compared to what others are sporting.
It's nice to see somebody with a bit of character to them.
Her stare soon trailing back to Law and taking in his own appearance, especially the fact that he isn't wearing a hat for the evening, the unusual sight making her feel oddly warm. He's actually quite cute with his messy hair and it's much easier to see his eyes this way, she can never seem to get enough of their beautiful hue.
Although she's quick to look away when he frowns, it's clear that he felt somebody staring at him and was about to catch her in the act so she simply redirected her attention before that could happen, good thing she did too since Mihawk takes a seat beside her within that same second, not looking impressed in the slightest.
Did he see me staring?
Not that he should think anything of it, she's always staring at people.
"Why did you choose to wear that dress?" His question causing her brows to raise as she looks down at her clothing, curiosity written all over her features. It's a black sleeveless turtleneck dress, she would understand his issue with it if her tattoo was on display but she made sure to cover it up by wearing lacy black gloves, the length of the accessories stopping just before it reaches her elbow giving just the right amount of coverage without attracting too much attention but it soon becomes clear that Mihawk's problem isn't the tattoo. "It's too tight, it leaves nothing to the imagination."
His observation drawing a pout to the redhead's lips, she has worn it for events before and he hadn't complained, she can't quite piece together what his problem is now all of a sudden.
Perhaps he did see her looking at Law, he is an observant man after all, he'll be able to spot a romance from miles away.
"Furthermore, I've just finished speaking to Yasopp," He continues, his tone still rather cold as Kyo hums, the girl clearly feigning interest since she's still quite sour about his remarks on her dress. "He's very grateful to you."
Her eyebrows now knitting at that information, she only vaguely has a clue who Yasopp is and she certainly hasn't spoken to him recently. "Why me?"
"Apparently, you gave him an interesting evaluation on an old gun, he made lots of money at auction because of you. According to him, all you wanted in return was a forged Picasso, is that correct?" That is definitely a rhetorical question, he already knows he has caught her out, sweat immediately beginning to dampen her skin as she nervously nods her head.
No point in denying it, it'll only make him more irritable.
"Yes, that is true. I made a mistake while dealing with Teach--"
"I don't care for excuses, Kyo." The raven's voice not softening in the slightest as he brings his chalice of wine to his lips, taking a calm sip before continuing. "Just be sure to remove the fake one tomorrow, having illegitimate artwork in a museum is worse than having nothing."
Shockingly he's being quite tolerant toward her, possibly because she was sick yesterday, Mihawk isn't the most affectionate man but he isn't cruel either and does care in his own way.
"Yes, I'll do it first thing. I'm sorry." Her apology only makes the hawk-eyed male frown, as she probably should have expected, he just said he doesn't care for excuses so he'd hardly want sorries either, the girl already bracing herself for his bark although it's interrupted.
"Hawk-eyes~!" Shanks' cheerful and slightly-slurred voice booms, the smiling redhead hastily approaching the table and taking a seat between the two, his eyes immediately glancing at the girl before they return to Mihawk himself. "You're not upsetting her at a party, are ya~? C'mon, let her have some fun, she's an adult~!"
He's probably the only person brave enough to scold Mihawk for his strict parenting habits, immediately earning himself a glare from the stoic male, not that it bothers him at all.
"Her dress is too tight and she gave away--"
"She looks nice, what do you mean~?" At this point, she may or may not be fearing for Shanks' life as the man lazily wraps an arm around her shoulders, the contact causing her to flinch while a shiver racks her spine but any attempts to pull away from him are futile. "Ignore him, princess! If you got a hot body then flaunt it, you're not doing anything wrong~!"
And just like that, both redheads earn themselves a face-melting glare from Mihawk, if looks alone could kill then they'd surely be dead by now.
Shanks, please--!
"Do you plan on undermining me at every turn, Akagami?"
"It's just a dress, Hawk-eyes~! Calm down, let's have another drink~!" The man seemingly not taking no for an answer as he releases the silently-mortified girl, taking her father's arm instead and dragging the begrudging male out of his seat, though the raven still sends his daughter another glare before reluctantly leaving.
What a fun night this is going to be.
Kyo's brown orbs slowly shifting toward Lotte and watching as the brunette speaks to Doflamingo while wearing a large smile, seems she isn't ready to leave yet.
Her gaze subtly returning to Law's table to find that the raven is gone although Rocinante is still there, the tall man speaking to a young lady with dark hair and a bow, seems like the girl is complaining to him about something but she can't hear what.
Nor does she really care at this point.
Her restlessness kicking in as she rises from her seat, she knows she can't exactly go to the bar since Shanks and Mihawk are there and she doesn't want another round of verbal abuse. Secondly, accompanying her roommate would get her into more trouble than she's prepared to handle and as for Law, he has vanished.
So she decides to take herself outside instead; standing underneath the building's archway for shelter from the rain while her hands cup her arms, a small smile gracing her features as she watches the downpour, relishing in the peaceful sound for a moment before a smooth voice catches her ears.
"Do you enjoy getting wet or something, Kyo-ya?"
Hm?
