A Safe Space.
It's so warm.
The room, the bedding but also Law's face.
Kyo's fingertips gently stroking against his cheek, watching as his brows lightly twitch every now and then in his slumber, he's dreaming again but it doesn't seem to be a nightmare this time at least.
She's so used to seeing his smug side that in times like this, he catches her off guard, he can be so vulnerable underneath it all.
The time he woke up in a panic still plagues her mind, she can't help but wonder what he saw during the house fire; Did he see his parents bodies first hand? Did he watch them burn? And what of his sister?
It's all things that she wouldn't dare ask him despite her curiosity, he's obviously traumatized and forcing him to relive that night could only bring him further pain.
It's odd, usually she wouldn't care too much about one's feelings but this man, he's very different. The thought of causing him harm hurts her, though she can't quite figure out why or how that even works.
She watches him sleep for a few more minutes as she contemplates to herself; she passed out long before him, she's certain of that much, she had felt him get up for a while and vaguely heard some shuffling around but she can't recall hearing or feeling him come back to bed.
She must have been fast asleep by that point.
She has been awake for about half an hour now; the rising sun peering through a gap in his curtains and giving the room a slightly pinkish tint, it's quite pretty though, she will admit. It gives Trafalgar's skin a small hue and makes Bepo's white fur appear to be more salmon-like in colour.
Her delicate fingers lightly tracing Law's brow as he softly snores before trailing down to his goatee, she isn't sure why she likes to maul his face so much honestly, it's just a habit of hers. Her gaze shifting to her phone as her touch leaves the raven's features, tapping the lock button and causing the time to display.
6:58am...
Her alarm will be going off at any minute but she doesn't want to disturb the doctor, she's sure he mentioned starting work around noon today so he doesn't need to wake him up. Leaning into his embrace once more, she plants a tender kiss on his forehead before slowly sliding out of bed, being sure not to wake him in the process.
She doesn't miss how Bepo's head raises once she's on her feet, reaching out to pat the dog's head in passing and immediately calming the ball of fur whilst her free hand grabs her phone before she finally exits the room and makes her way to the bathroom instead.
The first thing she does is disable her alarm, even if the doctor is in the other room, it might still be loud enough to wake him and it's not like she needs it anymore. Secondly, she begins to wash her face and prepare for the day, she doesn't have any make-up with her so she'll have to go to work sporting the natural look, shockingly Law owns a comb so she will have neat hair at least.
She had actually seen the raven use it before too, he combed his hair, made it all neat then put his hat on over it which completely defeated the purpose since he later had his messy hat hair once again but it's admittedly quite cute, she can't deny that.
At least she'll get more use out of the object, already beginning to brush out the knots in her hair as her orbs focus on her appearance, Sabo said she looked a lot healthier at the pool party - she's starting to see it herself, even despite having the ever-loving crap scared out of her yesterday by a train.
She still looks a lot better than before; somehow she appears younger, her skin is smoother and eyes are less tired-looking and her cheeks aren't as sunken in as they once were due to the girl eating more now.
She looks human; she hasn't looked this way in a long time, probably never.
It's nice though, she doesn't feel the same level of distaste she once did when seeing her reflection, she feels attractive and well, it's a beautiful sensation.
The girl soon setting the comb down and opening the medicine cabinet, her eyes skimming the shelves for a spare toothbrush, she can't go to work with morning breath - she had this same problem when she slept over last time but she didn't have work the next day so it wasn't such an issue at that time.
There's a mix of things in here; dog shampoo, bleach and sink cleaner, sanitary towels that Law bought for her when she was last here, a razor as well as some shaving cream and finally, a spare toothbrush still in it's packet.
There you are.
"You're up early, Kyo-ya." The sudden voice making her jump slightly as she reaches for the brush, though this just causes a soft snicker to escape a certain surgeon's lips, she hadn't heard him get out of bed or enter the bathroom for that matter, probably because she had only pushed the door to, she avoided closing it since she didn't want to make any noise - seems that has backfired on her.
"Must you sneak up on me?!" Her tone is somewhat firm but also playful as she takes the toothbrush before closing the medicine cabinet again, her stare focused on him in the reflection, he's stood closer than she was expecting but he doesn't seem to mind her going through his stuff, likely since he knows she was doing it with a purpose rather than to be nosey.
Though, she hasn't made it a secret that she is a very curious person so maybe he expects her to snoop, who knows.
"Must you leave so early? I was enjoying the warmth." The raven cheekily deflects her question, she can see how his golden eyes are focused on her in the mirror as she turns on the faucet and begins to brush her teeth, only responding to him once she spits the paste into the sink.
"Trafalgar Law's a needy lover, is he? Who would have thought it?" Of course despite her teasing, she does value this about him, at least she knows these feelings she's getting for him aren't one-sided.
"Only in the mornings." His voice is a little grainy but that's to be expected so soon after he has woken up, the redhead chooses to ignore his words since she's too busy rinsing her mouth, she absolutely refuses to speak with a mouthful of toothpaste and water, though this doesn't seem to phase Law, the raven taking a seat on the edge of the bathtub and merely watching her complete her little morning routine before handing her a towel to dry her mouth with. "When do you have work?"
"8:30." Though her attention is instantly diverted from the subject at hand when she takes notice of the pattern on the towel whilst pressing it to her face, unfolding it to get a batter look as a wide grin slowly embeds itself into her features. "Are you a fan of superheroes, Trafalgar~?"
On the towel is Captain America, Iron Man, The Hulk and Thor.
A truly amusing sight, she must say.
A light pink hue instantly dusting the surgeon's cheeks as he frowns himself, a small pout etched into his features as his gaze shifts off to the side. "No, it was just a cheap towel..." The boy is certainly a poor liar, the attempt only drawing a wicked giggle from Kyo's lips as she observes the heroes more closely.
"Well, at least I don't need to worry about you being dishonest with me, you're a terrible faker." Playfulness still lacing her tone as she leans in close to the doctor's face, practically bending over at this point as a taunting smirk graces her lips. "Okay, answer me this age-old question. Who's better, Captain America or Iron Man?"
She recalls Ace and Sabo bickering over the heroes once after they dragged her to the movies to watch 'Civil War' with them; Sabo preferred Captain America whilst Ace argued Iron Man was better.
Meanwhile, Kyo could care less.
"I personally like Captain America more, he was honourable and never hurt an innocent." The surgeon's answer simply entertains her further, causing his frown to deepen as she giggles, although his eyes do express some surprise when she places a kiss to his cheek.
"And who's your favourite avenger overall?" Her question noticeably destabilizes him and for good reason, she doesn't seem like the kind to care for superhero movies so he wouldn't have expected her to be so understanding about his subtle love for them.
Although whilst she isn't necessarily a fan of the franchise, she has watched many of the movies and found herself quite enjoying a fair few, she likely knows the name of many avengers, though not all.
A somewhat thoughtful expression dominating the raven's face before he finally murmurs an answer. "I liked The Scarlet Witch, she had interesting powers and she spent a lot of time fighting alone, she didn't need any help. I respected that." That was rather unexpected, Kyo's brows knitting as she hums in understanding, she had expected him to answer with the more popular characters like most do. "What about you? You're clearly familiar with the movies?"
She doesn't miss how Law seems to have gotten back his smugness; a confident smirk tugging on his lips as his golden eyes focus on her own, awaiting her answer. "I liked Doctor Strange, he was always calm and collected, had an interesting little cape too from what I recall."
She doesn't miss how Law's smirk slightly widens at that.
"You have a thing for doctors, Kyo-ya~?"
"Hm...for some, it would seem."
