Once upon a time, in the magical land of Equestria, two regal sisters ruled together and created harmony for all the land. To do this, the eldest used her unicorn powers to raise the sun at dawn; the younger brought out the Moon to begin the night. Thus, the two sisters maintained balance for their kingdom and their subjects, all the different types of ponies. But as time went on, the younger sister became resentful. The ponies relished and played in the day her elder sister brought forth but shunned and slept through her beautiful Then, oneThen, one. One fateful day, the younger unicorn refused to lower the Moon to make way for the dawn. The elder sister tried to reason with her, but the bitterness in the young one's heart had transformed her into a wicked mare of darkness: Nightmare Moon.

A lightning bolt strikes the sky.

She vowed that she would shroud the land in eternal night. Reluctantly, the elder sister harnessed the most powerful magic known to ponydom: the Elements of Harmony. Using the magic of the Elements of Harmony, she defeated her younger sister and banished her permanently to the Moon. The elder sister took on responsibility for both... "sun and moon..." a young mare says her name is Fireeye and how she looks like you will see soon. Now back to the story.

"and harmony has been maintained in Equestria for generations since. Hmm... Elements of Harmony. I know I've heard of those before... but wA young purple Mare was walking are?"

In another place known as Powalking, suddenly, two others came up to her. "There you are, Twilight! Moon Dancer is having a little get-together in the west castle courtyard. You wanna come?" The purple Mare shook her head a smiled nervously. "Oh, sorry, girls... I've got a lot of studying to catch up on." And she runs off, leaving the two alone.

In her lTwilightTwlight is looking after a book named Elements of HaLittle little does she know are two baby blues are watch, ing her just like they're watching everything from a Palantir in their dark hidden cave within a forest, known as the Everfree fittest. She thinks it is on time, and the Palantir glows again, showing the young lavender pony with her dragon friend.

"Ah! Elements, Elements, E, E, E... Aha! Elements of Harmony, see Mare in the Moon?" Twilight said, frowning. Her friend Spike scowls too and says, "Mare in the Moon? But that's just an old ponies' tale." but the lavender Mare doesn't answer him, muttering, "Mare, Mare... aha! The Mare in the Moon is a myth from olden pony times. A powerful pony who wanted to rule Equestria was defeated by the Elements of Harmony and imprisoned on the Moon. However, legend has it that on the longest day of the thousandth year, the stars will aid in her escape, and she will bring about nighttime eternal!" she gasps and turn to Spike " Spike! Do you know what this means?"

The pale lavender dragon shakes his head and starts to say something but gets smacked at the back of his head. "Take a note, please, to the Princess," Twilight says. Spike nods and takes a shaft of paper, starting to write to the Princess. "My dearest teacher, my continuing studies of pony magic have led me to discover that we are on the precipice of disaster!" Twilight says, but Spike, not being that studied wrong, doesn't know those kinds of words that his adoptive sister say, and he frowns. "Hold on. Preci... preci..."

The two continue to write a letter to the Princess. The eyes blink, filling with sympathy. Oh, poor princess Celestia her sister, is on teh Moon, and now she has to fight her again. I will help this young Mare if it's the last I do. I can't hide all the time, and mother and father would have wanted me to help these ponies, the beast thinks and smiles, showing a row of sharp white teeth. Tonight, the beast of stars will come out of hiding.

Now back to Twilight and Spike. "Uh, I dunno, Twilight; Princess Celestia's a little busy getting ready for the Summer Sun Celebration. And it's like, the day after tomorrow." Spike tells his friend stopping to write. " That's just it, Spike. The day after tomorrow is the thousandth year of the Summer Sun Celebration! So the Princess must be told right away!" poor spike, too many words for such a small dragon.

"Important!" twilight snaps, and Spike nods. "Okay, okay!" he inhales a green flame that takes with the letter. "There, it's on its way. But I wouldn't hold your breath..." he turns to twilight. "Oh, I'm not worried, Spike. The Princess trusts me completely. In all the years she's been my mentor, she's never once doubted me." suddenly, Spike spurts, and a letter is produced. Twilight lights up. "See? I knew she would want to take immediate action." Spike sighs and starts to read the letter "My dear, most faithful student Twilight. You know I value your diligence and trust you completely." Twilight nods, "..but you simply must stop reading those dusty old books!" that gets the poor lavender Mare to gasp. Still, Spike continues, "My dear Twilight, there is more to a young pony's life than studying, so I'm sending you to supervise the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration in this year's location: Ponyville. And, I have an even more essential task for you to complete: make some friends!"

That makes her groan. "Look on the bright side, Twilight. The Princess arranged for you to stay in a library. Doesn't that make you happy?" the green and lavender dragon says, looking at his caretaker. "Yes, yes, it does. Do you know why? Because I'm right! I'll check on the preparations as fast as I can, then get to the library to find proof of Nightmare Moon's return." the eyes in teh darkness roll, and a breath of bright blue flame strikes against the seer stone. "Then... when will you make friends, as the Princess said?" Spike asks, looking hopeful. "She said to check on preparations. I am her student, and I'll do my royal duty, but the fate of Equestria does not rest on me making friends."

I think it does, young one, the beast in the darkness, thinks, fluttering her wings. Twilight and Spike take a carriage to Ponyvile; when they land, the young Mare thanks the pegasi that flew the carriage. she and Spike then walk around but not before long, they meet a baby pink poney with a curly darker pink heart and blu eyes. Interesting fellow, teh beast thought as she saw the events further forth. Finally, the pink poney lets out a prolonged gasp before scuttering off, and Twilight and Spike are left alone.

Right now, Spike and Twilight are at a farm called Sweet Apple Acres. They see an orange aburn mare that comes over to them " Let's get this over with..." twilight mumbles; luckily, the mare can't hear her, and Twilight says, "Good afternoon. My name is Twilight Sparkle—" but poor one gets cut off by the amre in a bow hat. While all this is happening, the beast, whose name is still unknown to us, watches this in her Palantir, also known as a seeing stone. She shakes her head as her glittering purple mane glitters even more. But let's get back to the story. " Well, I am, in fact, here to supervise preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration. And you're in charge of the food?" Twilight says, clearing her throat.

Applejack nods. "We sure as sugar is! Would you care to sample some?" Twilight doesn't know fully but agrees nonetheless. After that, she gets introduced to the Apallpefakly containing Apple Fritter. Apple Bumpkin. Red Gala. Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Caramel Apple, Apple Strudel, Apple Tart, Baked Apples, Apple Brioche, Apple Cinnamon Crisp. Big McIntosh, Apple Bloom, and Granny Smith. Pretty big family, right? Poor Twilight, the beast thinks as she chuckles to herself.

Now that the Food's all taken care of, the next on their list is the weather. The two look up at the skies seeing that there are still clouds. " Hmm, there's supposed to be a Pegasus pony named Rainbow Dash clearing the clouds," Spike says, and Twilighty rolls her eyes. "Well, she's not doing a very good job, is she?" before she knows it, the poor unicorn is down on the ground with a blue pegasus on her back. The mare pegasi apologized once before trying to clean twilight up, ending in doing a worse job than she was before. Spike bursts out laughing, but I guess it was pretty funny.

The beast snickers as she shakes her head. Sooner than I thought, I had to go out there. But I will wait until the summer sun celebration. Then I can show the world that the Hidden one isn't going to stay hidden anymore. Enough evil has threatened this world.

And so the time goes on with Twilight checking on all the preparations. That is until the time has come, and a pony known as Mayor Mare. is a tan Earth pony.

Spike calls his friend over as the ponies gather around the mare that is the mayor of this town. The beast feels her call, and the stone glimmers until it turns back. The beast sighs and spreads her glimmering purple wings. The time is now. And she takes off towards Ponyvile.

Meanwhile, the Moyer is getting her citizens "Fillies and gentle colts, as mayor of Ponyville, it is my great pleasure to announce the beginning of the Summer Sun Celebration!" the ponies cheer, and the mare smiles. "In just a few moments, our town will witness the magic of the sunrise, and celebrate this, the longest day of the year! And now, it is my great honor to introduce to you the ruler of our land, the very pony who gives us the sun and the moon every day, the good, the wise, the bringer of harmony to all of Equestria..." Fluttershy turns to her birds

" Ready?" the bird nods "...Princess Celestia!" but where there is supposed to be a princess of sun magic, there is nothing. The ponies chattering quietly and nervously in the background. Twilight wishers nervously, "This can't be good." the Mayor tries to calm the crowd, " Remain calm, everypony, there must be a reasonable explanation!" Rarity comes from behind the puritans, saying what all the ponies dreaded. Meanwhile, the beast is watching from the shadows. "She's gone!" Rarity calls out, and the ponies gasping fills the. Pinkie smile and say to Twilight, "Ooh, she's good" Her good cheer goes bye-bye in a split second as she voices a panicked cry while glancing up toward the balcony. Twinkling clouds of deep blue-violet vapor have begun to envelop the terrace as another gasp rises from ground level.

Outside the room, the beast bares her teeth in anger. The thickening clouds burst away, revealing the blue-armored, winged unicorn figure of Nightmare behind them. Her mane and tail are made of the same blue-violet vapor, and her coat is an even darker blue-black hue than in the picture from the Twilight book. The edge of her helmet frames scornful, light blue-green eyes with catlike pupils and deep blue-violet shadow on the lids, and her tall size is accentuated by the spread of her wings. A white crescent moon appears on her chest armor plate and against a dark purple splotch on her haunch as her cutie mark.

"Nightmare Moon!" Twilight calls out, and beside her, Spike moans in shock and faints, toppling off her back. Nightmare's voice broadcasts an unsettling mixture of suavity, contempt, and barely concealed menace roughly equal parts. "Oh, my beloved subjects. It's been so long since I've seen your precious little sun-loving faces." the crowd is terror-stricken. However, Rainbow Dash is only angry and yells, " What did you do with our Princess?!?" she starts into a flying charge, but Applejack grabs her tail in her teeth to stop her. "Whoa there, Nelly!" Nightmare Moon chuckles richly, which angers only the beast that has to bite her cheek to keep her from letting out a roar. " Why, am I not royal enough for you? Don't you know who I am?" Pinkie speaks up, happy as ever, which makes the beast's face paw. "Ooh, ooh! More guessing games! Um...Hokey Smokes! How about...Queen Meanie? No...Black Snooty! Black Snooty!"

The cupcake muffles her next guess that Applejack crams into her mouth with a big embarrassed grin. The mare leans over Fluttershy, scaring her/scattering birds. "Does my crown no longer count, now that I have been imprisoned for a thousand years?" the beast snorts supply and shifts on her talons, her tail swishing in an irritated manner behind her.

Next, the mare in the moon gets in Rarity's face, cradling it in a lock of her intangible mane " Did you not recall the legend?" Nightmare slaps Rarity's mane gently, "Did you not see the signs?" Twilight decides to speak up, and Beast sighs, her heart going in nervously laps. I've never fought against a horse before, and at least not an alicorn. Is she at least as strong as her mother or buy weaker? No, not the time to think of this.

"And I know who you are! You're the Mare in the Moon—Nightmare Moon!" at Twilgith's words, the crowd gasps. "Well, well, well. Somepony who remembers me. Then you also know why I'm here." Nightmare says and looks down at the lavender mare who loses her never " You're here to...to..." she swallows hard. Nightmare moon, let's go with a growing chuckle. "Remember this day, little ponies, for it was your last. From this moment forth, the night will last forever!"

Lightning cracks through the upper reaches of the pavilion, and the material of her mane and tail billow over the entire room as she laughs exultantly. At ground level, Twilight grits her teeth out of nervous fear. And the beast stands up from her hunched position. this will be a fight to remember. She thinks, and everthings go black.
