MJ's POV

"Five more minutes mum" I grumble as I hug my pillow.

"We don't have five minutes MJ" Elena states.

"Elena" I groan as I open my eyes and she shushes me.

"Follow me and don't make a sound" she tells me. I nod my head as I rub sleep from my eyes. I realize we are not at home. But in an old boarded up house. I look at her scared.  "It'll be ok" she assures me as I stand up beside her. We walk through the house trying to find a way out.

We stumble across and man & woman talking in a hallway. We freeze as Elena puts me behind her. Were these our kidnappers? Why are we here? My neck still hurts and as does my head. "How are the girls?" the woman asks.

"Still passed out, what are we going to do with the child?" the man asks.

"We'll let Elijah decide her fate" the woman states.

"So, you called him?" the man asks.

"No, I called one of his contacts. You know how this works" the woman tells him.

"Did you or did you not get the message to Elijah?" the man asks.

"They said he got it" the woman assures him. I spot the front door and tug on Elena's sleeve. She looks down at me and I point to the door. She nods her head signalling for me to be quiet. She takes one step in the direction of the door and the floor creaks. Catching the attention of our kidnappers. "Hey, you two!" the woman exclaims and Elena puts me behind her as the woman appears in front of us.

"There's nothing around here for miles. If you think you both are getting out of this house, you're tragically wrong. Understand?" she asks Elena. She nods her head.

"Who's Elijah?" she asks.

"He's your worst nightmare" the woman states and I cling to Elena. Is he a clown? I hate clowns, they scare me.

"Stay next to me MJ, don't leave my side" Elena tells me and I nod my head. We follow the girl. "Why am I here? Why did you take MJ also?" she asks the woman.

"You keep asking me these questions like I'm gonna answer them" the woman grumbles. "The child is here by accident" she adds.

"My name is MJ, not child" I say pouting. She rolls her eyes.

"You got me, okay? It's not like MJ and I can go anywhere. The least you can do is tell me what you want with me" Elena tells her.

"I personally want nothing from you, I'm a delivery service" the woman states.

"Delivery to who? Elijah?" Elena asks.

"Two points to the eavesdropper, by the way. What happened to her?" the woman asks pointing at me.

"Katherine and the man who took us" Elena states. "Who is Elijah? Is he a vampire?" she asks.

"Vampires aren't real Elena, those were just stories" I tell her.

"So the child doesn't know, well this should be really educational for her" the woman states smirking. "He's one of the vampires, the originals" she adds. So wait, vampires are real? I'll believe that when I see it.

"What do you mean the originals?" Elena asks her curious. I can't believe she buying this vampire crap. Aunt Miranda used to tell me bedtime stories about vampires. She said that's all they were, stories. To scare kids into staying in at night and to keep them from welcoming strangers into their home.

"Again with the questions. Haven't the Salvatores been teaching you your vampire history?" the woman asks Elena.

"So you know Stefan and Damon?" Elena asks her.

"I know of them. A hundred years back, a friend of mine tried to set me up with Stefan. She said he was one of the good ones. However, I'm more of a sucker for the bad boys though" the woman explains.

"Why are you giving Elena to this Elijah person?" I ask in a hoarse voice.

"Well sweetie, Trevor and I have been running for 500 years. We're tired, we want it over. We're using Elena to negotiate ourselves out of an old mess" she states.

"You can't be that old" I giggle. "You look younger then my mum" I state.

"What a sweet innocent child, shame she has to find out the ugly truth this way" the woman mutters.

"But why me? Why not let my cousin go?" Elena asks.

"Because you're a Petrova Doppelgänger. You're the key to breaking the curse and my hands are tied when it comes to her" the woman says pointing at me. So now there's a curse, what's next? Werewolves.

"The curse? The sun and the moon curse?" Elena asks.

"Oh, you do know your history" the woman says.

"What do you mean I'm the key? The moonstone is what breaks the curse" Elena states.

"No, the moonstone is what binds the curse. The sacrifice is what breaks it" the woman corrects her.

"The sacrifice?" Elena and I ask.

"The blood of the doppelgänger. You're the doppelgänger. Which means, in order to break the curse you're the one who has to die" she tells Elena.

Suddenly I'm standing in front of Elena glaring at the woman. "I don't know who you are or who this Elijah person is. But no one and I mean no one is sacrificing my cousin. They'll have to go through me first" I snap.

"Look at who found her back bone" the man from earlier says as he appears.

"Neither of you is touching my cousin and I don't believe in fairy tales" I say glaring at him. He suddenly appears in front of me. His eyes become blood-shot sclera with protruding veins under his eyes, as well as elongated fangs. I gasp in shock and Elena pushes me behind her.

"Trevor leave the child alone" the woman says in a scolding tone as his face returns to normal.

"Tell me more, who are you running from?" Elena asks them.

"The originals" Trevor states.

"She said that" Elena says pointing to the woman. "What does that mean?" she asks him.

"The first family, the old world. Rose and I pissed them off" Trevor states and Rose gives him a pointed look. Finally I know both of their names, but now I'm scared again. So vampires are real. Though I still fear clowns more. Hopefully there's no clown vampires. "Correction, I pissed them off. Rose had my back and for over half a millennium, they wanted us dead" he explains.

"What did you do?" I ask curious.

"He made the same mistake countless others did: he trusted Katerina Petrova" Rose states.

"Katherine" Elena says.

"Your evil twin?" I ask her. Rose and Trevor chuckle. While Elena looks down at me.

"It's a little more complicated then that MJ" Elena tells me.

"I helped her escape her fate and now I've, sorry, we've been marked ever since" Trevor states.

"Which is why we're not gonna make the same mistake again" Rose adds. Elena and I go back to the room I woke up in. I find a scrunched up piece of paper and read it: Stefan and Damon are coming for you. -B. I show it to Elena and she smiles, mouthing we'll be ok.

"So Stefan and Damon are vampires to?" I ask her.

"Yes and so is Caroline" she states. "The reason I tell you never to invite someone in, is because a vampire can only come in if invited. Also the locker I gave you has vervain in it, it keeps you from being compelled" she explains.

"What does compel mean?" I ask her.

"It's a form of mind control, there are those with a strong enough will. They don't need vervain" she explains. "Vervain also burns vampires and prevents them from drinking from you" she states.

"I don't want to be compelled, we finally have no secrets just like old times" I tell her pouting.

"This world is dangerous MJ, I'm only trying to protect you. So that you can have a normal childhood" she tells me.

"Normal is overrated" I tell her. "What else are you hiding? Or other monsters real to?" I ask her.

"Werewolves and witches exist. Bonnie is a witch and Tyler is a werewolf" she tells me.

"Does he turn into a real wolf or into something like Moony from Harry Potter?" I ask her.

"Real normal sized wolf, but their bite is suppose to be deadly to vampires" she explains. I nod my head and go to ask another question. When Trevor and Rose reappear.

"No! He wants me dead, Rose!" Trevor exclaims looking scared. Elena pulls me into her side.

"He wants her more" Rose says pointing to Elena.

"I can't do this. You give her and the child to him. He'll have mercy on you but I need to get out of here" Trevor states.

"Hey! What are we?" Rose asks him.

"We're family, forever" he says calming down. Someone knocks on the door.

"You're scared" Elena and I say.

"Stay here with them and don't make a sound" Rose tells him before leaving the room.

"Don't leave my side" Elena tells me and I nod my head. Soon Rose appears with a man dressed in a black suit. He must be Elijah, at least he's not a clown. He flashes over to Elena and I, smelling her neck as I cling to her arm.

"Human. It's impossible. Hello there" he says smiling at Elena. "And you must be her cousin Rosemarie mentioned" he says looking at me.

"No one is killing my cousin" I tell him.

"Such bravery for one so young, the three of us have a long journey ahead of us" he states.

"Please don't let him take us" Elena pleads looking at Trevor and Rose.

"One last piece of business and we're done" Elijah state. He turns to Trevor and approaches him slowly. Elena covers my eyes and I try to move her hand whining.

"I've waited so long for this day, Elijah. I'm truly, very sorry" Trevor says.

"Oh no, your apology's not necessary" Elijah tells him.

"Yes, yes it is. You trusted me with Katerina and I failed you" Trevor states.

"Oh yes, you are the guilty one and Rose aided you because she was loyal to you and that now I honor. Where was your loyalty?" Elijah asks him.

"I beg for your forgiveness" Trevor says.

"So granted" he says. I hear a squelching sound and a two thuds. I hear two people gasps.

"What's going on?" I demand trying to remove Elena's hand from my eyes.

"You don't want to see this MJ" she tells me and I pout.

"Come" Elijah says.

"What about the moonstone?" Elena asks him.

"What do you know about the moonstone?" he asks her.

"Not a thing" I state and Elena shushes me.

"I know that you need it and I know where it is" Elena tells him.

"Yes?" Elijah asks.

"I can help you get it, but you have to let MJ go" she tells him.

"Are you negotiating with me?" Elijah asks her sounding amused. "What is this vervain doing around your neck?" he demands. "Rose cover the child's eyes" he states and Elena is pulled away from me as a new set of hands cover my eyes. "Tell me where the moonstone is" he tells Elena.

"In the tomb, underneath the church ruins. With Katherine" Elena says in a monotone.

"Interesting" Elijah says and I hear glass breaking. I'm lead out of the room and my eyes are uncovered as we reach the entrance hall. Elijah hands Elena to Rose, who lets go of me. "Rose" he says as I hear whooshing sounds and I look around confused.

"I don't know who it is" she tells him. Please be Damon and Stefan & not clowns. Suddenly I'm else where with Elena and Stefan. He signals for us to be quiet.

"Excuse me. To whom it may concern, you're making a great mistake if you think that you can beat me. You can't. Do you hear that?" Elijah asks as I hear something wooden snapping. "I repeat, you cannot beat me. So I want the doppelganger, I'm gonna count to three or heads will roll. Do we understand each other?" he asks. Stefan hands Elena something and she walks away. I go to follow, but Stefan holds me back shaking his head.

"I'll come with you, just please don't my friends. They just wanted to help me and MJ out. Let them take her home" Elena pleads.

"What game are you playing with me?" Elijah asks her. I hear something explode and someone gasp in pain. Stefan leaves my side and Elena reappears hugging me. We hear the sound of gun shots and fighting going on downstairs.

It soon goes silent and Elena returns to me. "Close your eyes and keep them shut until I say so" she tells me. I pout but do so. She leads me to the top of the stairs before leaving my side. Soon I'm picked up and smell Damon's cologne.

"You're safe now MJ, keep your eyes shut" he tells me. I nod my head hugging his neck burrying my face into it. We get outside and he puts me into his car as I open my eyes. "Lets get you both home" he states and gets into the drivers side. Elena gets in the back with me.

"Sleep MJ, you've been through a lot" she tells me.

"Promise not to have them compel me" I say looking at her.

"But MJ..." she tries to say.

"I don't care if it's dangerous, your my cousin. I want there to be no more secrets between us. I promise to tell no one" I tell her.

"We'll discuss this later, for now sleep" she tells me. I nod my head and lay down resting my head on her lap. She strokes my hair and I soon fall asleep.
