MJ's POV

I wake up feeling excited that it's my tenth birthday, before frowning. Elena's life is in danger. "Happy Birthday sweetie" mum says as she enters the room with chocolate cake.

"Hi mum" I say as I sit up.

"That doesn't sound like the excited girl that has been dreaming of her tenth birthday for weeks" mum states.

"Elena's in danger" I state.

"I don't want you to think about that" she tells me. "It's your special day" she states.

"Which no one will celebrate as they are all to worried about Elena. He promised" I say as tear fills my eyes.

"Who promised what?" she asks as she sits beside me. Pulling me into her arms.

"Ric, he promised to not let anything ruin my birthday. That we could forget our supernatural problems and have fun. But we can't" I tell her sadly.

"Turn that frown upside down" she tells me. "It's you tenth birthday, you only turn ten once" she states. "Now lets go downstairs and have cake with Elena and the Salvatores" she tells me.

"Can I get changed first?" I ask her as I'm still in my pjs.

"Of course" she says and kisses my head. "I'll go get a candle for this" she states grabbing the cake. I give her a smile and she leaves. I change clothes when I hear my mother's scream. I race downstairs to see her pointing a crossbow at Alaric. "Get out!" she shouts.

"Mum" I say scared.

"Stay behind me MJ" she tells me.

"Jenna, put the crossbow down, okay? It's me" Alaric says.

"Stay away from us" she tells him as the others appear with Elijah. I wonder where he's been? I run over to Damon. Who picks me up.

"What's going on?" Elena asks.

"It's me, Elena, I swear, okay? He let me go. Klaus let me go" Alaric states.

"Prove it" Damon tells him.

"Okay, uh, first night you and I spent together, Jeremy walked in right when I was about to..." Alaric starts to say.

"Okay, it's him" mum states lowering the crossbow. Damon puts me down.

"Why did he let you go?" Stefan asks Alaric as I spot my ruined cake on the ground.

"He wanted me to deliver a message. The sacrifice happens tonight" Alaric states. Tears fill my eyes and I race upstairs.

"MJ!" mum and Ric shout. I ignore them going to Uncle Zach's old room. I lay on his bed crying.

"Miranda" Elijah says.

"Why are you here?" I ask him with a sniffle.

"I wished to make sure you're alright" he tells me.

"Do I look alright?" I ask him as I look at him. "Today was suppose to be my tenth birthday. There was suppose to cake and a party with all my family and friends. Instead some guy wants to kill my cousin to break a curse. On my birthday" I state.

"I'm sorry" he tells me.

"It's not your fault, it's his" I grumble as I play with my necklace.

"That's an old necklace" he states.

"Elena gave it to me, she knows I love antiques" I tell him with a sad smile.

"May I?" he asks and I take it off giving it to him. He turns it over and smiles at the engraving. "This belonged to my sister, I had it made for her decades ago" he tells me.

"Really?" I ask intrigued.

"Yes, when my siblings and I became vampires. We promised to be there for each other 'Always and Forever'" he tells me.

"Maybe you should have it then" I tell him and he shakes his head. He places it back around my neck clasping it in place.

"Looks better on you" he tells me. "I promise your cousin won't die tonight" he tells me. "I give you my word" he states.

"Thank you" I tell him. Mum appears.

"Ric is making pancakes" she tells me. I give her a small smile. I hop off the bed and grab her hand. I wave goodbye to Elijah and mum leads me to the kitchen.

"Happy birthday" he tells me.

"Thanks" I say as I sit at the counter.

"I have to go talk to Damon, he did something stupid" he tells me.

"When doesn't he do something stupid?" I ask him. He chuckles and kisses my forehead.

"Stay with your mother, don't leave this house" he tells me. I nod my head and he left. I enjoy my pancakes with mum.

"Where is everyone?" I ask her.

"Elena went out with Stefan, Elijah was suppose to go see Bonnie. But Caroline should be visiting soon, she just had to run an errand first" she tells me. "But Jeremy should be here soon" she adds. We finish the pancakes. "What do you want to do?" she asks me.

"I would love to go to the park or do something fun. But Ric said to stay here" I tell her. "How about a Jurassic Park marathon?" I suggest. She agrees and makes popcorn while I set up the TV. Half way through the first movie Jeremy joins us. He gives me an antique bracelet. He stayed until the first movie ended before leaving to return to Bonnie. But still no Caroline.

(Time skip)

The sun is setting and Caroline still hasn't appeared. Bonnie called my mum who gave me the phone. Bonnie wished me a happy birthday and promised to give me my gift tomorrow. Before we said our goodbyes. We haven't heard anything since. I can tell mum is worried, so am I.

Suddenly mum's phone rings. "It's Elena" she tells me and answers. "Hey Elena, wha..." she starts to say. "Whoa slow, what's wrong?" mum asks her. "Ok, I'm on my way" she states and ends the call. "Sweetie I have to go get Elena" she tells me.

"But Ric said to stay here" I tell her.

"Elena is very upset, I'll be fine" she tells me.

"Please, I don't want to be left alone" I plead.

"Ok, grab your coat" she tells me. I run to the coat rack and grab it as she grabs her keys. We exit the house and are grabbed.

"Mummy!" I cry.

"Shush little one" a guy says. I look up at the man holding me. He has dark blonde hair and dark green blue eyes. He takes my necklace off and I try to stop. "It's ok" he tells me a gentle tone. "Everything will be alright, I'm your uncle and you know no one in this town" he tells me. I look around confused.

"Where are we uncle?" I ask him as he puts my necklace on.

"Mystic Falls, I'm going to break my curse little one. Now I'm going to drop you off somewhere. You are to stay there until I return" he tells me.

"Ok uncle" I say and he smiles. He picks me up and everything blurs around us. When I'm put down I notice a warehouse and frown.

"Don't touch anything, if you need anything ask these men" my uncle tells me pointing to three guys in guard outfits. "Oh, and happy birthday" he says handing me a grey wolf plush toy.

"Thank you" I say smiling as I hug the toy wolf.

"You be a good girl, I'll be back" he tells me. He kisses my forehead before leaving.

"Do you need anything kid?" one of the guards ask me.

"I'm hungry" I state.

"I'll go get her food, you two stay here" he tells the others. Who nod their heads. "Do you want anything specific?" he asks me.

"Hot chips, please" I tell him and he nods his head. He left and I look around the warehouse. "Can we play a game?" I ask the guards. They nod. "Hide and seek, you're it" I say pointing to the male guard. I grab the female guards hand and lead her away as he counts. We split and I hide behind a crate.

(Woods) Third Persons POV

"Where's MJ?" Elena asks Jenna as they are stuck in their circles of fire.

"I don't know, the last thing I remember was getting a call from you. You sounded so scared, I couldn't leave MJ alone. But as soon as we exited the house, we were grabbed. I heard her scream for me before everything went black" Jenna states.

(Time skip two days) MJ's POV

My uncle  hasn't returned yet. But he called one of the guards this morning and said he was on his way. I'm exploring the warehouse. When I return to the main room I see my uncle and squeal. I race over jumping into his arms "Did you miss me little one?" he asks with a chuckle.

"Yes, I loved the cake" I tell him. He'd organized for the guards to sing me happy birthday and have cake with  me. "What's your name uncle?" I ask him.

"Niklaus, but you call me uncle Nik" he tells me.

"MJ!" someone says and I look to see a teenage boy with brown hair. I frown in confusion.

"Who is that uncle?" I ask.

"An old friend of mine, Stefan Salvatore" he states.

"What did you do to her?" Stefan asks him glaring. I cling to my uncle scared of this boy. Why is he glaring t my uncle?

"Enough Stefan, you are scaring her" Uncle Nik tells him. "She's my niece and is coming with us" he states.

"Where are we going uncle?" I ask him.

"On a hunting trip" he tells me with a smile. He places me down and a female guard approaches us. "Take her to the car, we'll be there shortly" he tells her.

"See you soon Uncle Nik" I say with a bright smile.

"Very soon little one" he tells me. I'm lead to an SUV and get into the back. I hear a woman's scream and frown in confusion. Uncle Nik appears with his friend.

"Who screamed?" I ask them.

"No one important" Uncle Nik tells me.

"Uncle, where are my parents?" I ask him.

"Your mother is having a nap, along with your other uncles" he tells me. "Now some rules little one. Do as you're told, don't leave my sight when we're in public, ask if you need anything and never go anywhere alone" he tells me.

"Yes uncle Nik" I say. "I'm hungry" I tell him.

"We'll get you something to eat" he assures me as we left Mystic Falls. I look at my toy and sigh holding it close. Something felt wrong, like I've forgotten something important. But what?
