MJ's POV

I wake before mum and hear Elena talking to someone downstairs. I frown in confusion. It's to early for Jeremy to be up and it doesn't sound like one of the Salvatores. I go downstairs. "Elena, who is it?" I ask as I enter the kitchen. To see her uncle making a cup of coffee. "Uncle John" I say politely. Though he's not my blood uncle, but I grew up calling him uncle out of respect and because my cousins called him that.

"Miranda, how are you?" he asks me.

"I'm fine" I tell him. "I know the secret" I say smiling.

"I heard, you weren't hurt were you?" he asks me concerned.

"No, I wasn't" I assure him. I go grab a banana.

"Coffee?" he asks Elena.

"We're not doing that. We did that last night. No more avoiding. Why are you here?" Elena asks him annoyed.

"I'm here to protect you. That's all I can say for the moment" he states.

"Thank you for protecting her" I tell him smiling.

"What do you mean that's all you can say?" Elena demands.

"I'll tell you more when I'm convinced I can trust you" John tells her. Just then mum enters the room with Alaric.

"Oh God, I'm late" she says. Neither noticing Uncle John.

"That's what you get for hitting the snooze three times" Alaric tells her. Mum finally notices Uncle John.

"What the hell?" she demands.

"Young ears present" Uncle John tells her. "Good morning to you, Jenna. Alaric" he adds.

"It's okay I'm confused, right? Because we were not expecting you, like, ever" mum says looking very confused.

"Well, I got in late last night. Elena let me in" Uncle John tells her.

"You know, I'm uh, probably just gonna take off" Alaric states. He looks at Elena and I before leaving.

"I'm still confused here" mum states.

"I decided to come back and stay for a while" Uncle John states.

"Not here, you're not" mum tells him. As I finish my banana and put the pile in the bin.

"Actually, you can't stop me from living here" Uncle John tells her.

"Actually I can, as legal guardian" mum tells him.

"Yeah, about that...um. Elena, you want me to explain the situation, or would you like to do the honors?" Uncle John asks her. I frown in confusion, what's he talking about? Elena avoids eye contact with mum and I.

"Okay, what's going on?" mum demands.

"I'm sorry, Jenna. I should have told you earlier, but..." Elena starts to say.

"I'm Elena's biological father" Uncle John states. "There, now you know" he tells us. Before leaving Elena to deal with the fall out. I leave her with mum and go upstairs to change. When I get back downstairs only Elena is their.

"I'm your guardian for the day" she tells me.

"Ok, can we see Damon?" I ask her.

"I have not doubt he'll be here soon looking for John" she states. Just then Damon enters the house. Asking where John is. "He's not here, he left. I don't know where he went. He just blew in, announced to Jenna that he's my dad, and then took off" she tells him.

"That's public knowledge now?" Damon asks us.

"Yes" I state.

"Are you ok?" Damon ask Elena.

"Yeah. Jenna's head spinning, but I'm okay" Elena assures him.

"He said what he was doing here?" Damon asks.

"He's here to protect Elena, like you and the others" I tell him.

"Do you believe him?" he asks Elena.

"No, I don't believe him for a second" Elena answers.

"Me neither" Damon agrees. "MJ, go grab your coat" he tells me. I race upstairs to grab it. I come back to see Damon heading fro the door. " I'm gonna have a civil conversation with your father" he tells Elena.

"Wait, we're coming with you" Elena tells him. We follow him out the door and he takes us to the grill. "We just need answers. Please don't do anything stupid" she pleads as we enter the grill.

"Yeah, but stupid is so much more fun" Damon tells her.

"Damon, I mean it. MJ is present. All I'm asking is you try to keep it together. Be the better man" Elena tells him. Damon agrees reluctantly and we join John.

"John, buddy, how have you been?" Damon asks him.

"I've been all right, Damon. It's good to see you" he says. He goes to light a candle and Damon follows him. Elena gets me a glass of water. We watch Damon talk to John before going to the bar. Where mum introduces him to one of his friends, who he blew off. He rejoins Elena and I as I enjoy a small bowl of chips.

"You totally blew her off" Elena states.

"I'm steering clear of all women at the moment" he tells her.

"You didn't have to be rude" Elena tells him.

"Trust me, it's in the best interest of women everywhere" he tells her. She gets a call from Stefan and we go to the girls bathroom. Apparently Care has been taken by wolves. Elena and Damon argue as I go to a cubicle and relive myself. I exit and go to the sink as John joins us. "Do you mind?" Damon asks him as I wash my hands.

"What's going on?" John asks us.

"Nothing" Elena tells him.

"It doesn't look like nothing" he states.

"Well guess what John, trust works both ways. Get out" Damon tells him.

"Look, we don't have time for this. We need to get Caroline back" Elena tells Damon.

"We don't need to do anything. I'll take care of it" Damon states. He looks at John. "First dad duty: ground your daughter. Keep her and MJ here" he tells him.

"I'm coming with you" Elena tells him. But he left and John stopped her as I dried my hands.

"I'm with Damon on this one. No, stop, stop. You're not going anywhere. Just tell me what's going on" John tells her. We do so. They have a brief argument before Elena takes me home. She orders us some food. While I went upstairs. When food arrived we ate before I sat down to watch Land Before Time. Stefan soon appeared and took Elena somewhere else. Leaving me with Uncle John until my bed time.
