Klaus' POV

I haven't heard from MJ in weeks. I swear if they've compelled her again. I will kill them. I told Tyler to go find out why she hasn't been answering my calls.

MJ's POV

Today is Caroline's 18th birthday and tomorrow Jeremy and I leave for Denver. I've bee having headaches occasionally, but not often. I haven't told anyone, not wanting them to worry. Besides its Care's special day. I am helping Jeremy pack. Though I'd rather be at the school helping Elena and Bonnie decorate Care's locker.

"Excited for Denver?" Jeremy asks me.

"Yes, it's been ages since we've seen the Andersons" I state. "I wish Elena was coming" I add.

"We'll stay in contact" he assures me. There's a knock at the door. "Can you get that?" he asks me sheepishly as he packs a box. I nod and head downstairs to see Tyler at the door.

"Hi MJ, Klaus is worried about you" he states.

"Why would Klaus be worried about me? He nearly got Ric killed" I state confused. He frowns. "Look, I don't what game Klaus is playing. But I'm not a part of it, Jeremy and I are leaving tomorrow for Denver. To start a new life away from all of this" I tell him. He looks surprised. "Speaking of which, I need to finish packing. Bye" I say and shut the door.

I return to Jeremy's room. "Who was at the door?" he asks curious.

"Tyler" I answer as I hand him his books.

"What did he want?" he asks.

"I don't know, it was weird. He said Klaus was worried about me, but we have no connections. Aside from him killing my mum and attempting to kill all of you" I state. I get a headache and place my hand on it.

"Another headache?" he asks me concerned.

"Yeah, but it's nothing" I assure him. "Come on, lets finish packing" I tell him. He agrees and we continue packing. Until he had to go to school to empty his locker. He dropped me off at Care's house. As she apparently had skipped school. So now we're surprising her at her house.

Klaus' POV

"She is diffidently compelled, apparently she and Jeremy are moving to Denver tomorrow" Tyler states. I curse, they are dead. Though it would be best if MJ wasn't around when I do it.

"Anything else?" I ask him.

"She seems to be suffering from headaches" Tyler states. I smile, she is trying to remember. If she can break my compulsion. She can break an ordinary vampires compulsion. No doubt, she'll be furious at the vampire and those responsible for compelling her. And she'd come back to me & my family. "So what do we do?" he asks me.

"Nothing, you may go" I tell him and he left. I'll have to organize someone to watch over MJ. I don't want her getting hurt in Denver.

(Forbes house) MJ's POV

Elena, Bonnie, Matt and I are hiding. Waiting for Care to get home, so that we can surprise her and celebrate her birthday. She finally arrives and we jump out yelling "Happy Birthday!"

"What are you guys doing here?" she asks confused. As I hug her waist. Elena takes off the crown she's wearing and put it on Caroline's head.

"Well you blew off school and missed our work of birthday art, so..." Elena starts to say.

"Change into warmer clothes, we are going to the Falls. S'mores, camp fire" Bonnie states.

"Cake! Like when we were little" Elena adds.

"I am little" I remind her and they all chuckle.

"Except for the tequila" Matt states. "Though we have water for MJ, of course" he adds.

"Thanks, guys. Really, um, I'm just not feeling my birthday this year" Care tells us. I look at ehr shocked. So do the others.

"I'm sorry, what? You've already claimed your birthday as everyone's favorite day of the year" Bonnie asks.

"Yeah, and now, it's just a reminder that technically, I'm dead. Look, I didn't even like 17. And the only point to being 17 is to get to 18. It's a filler year; I'm stuck in a filler year" Care explains.

"You aren't stuck Care-bear" I tell her. Elena agrees with me.

"Yeah I am, but it's okay. You know, it's all good, I'll be fine. But I just need some time to wallow in it" Care explains.

"Okay, well I think I have another idea" Elena tells us.

(Mini time skip)

So Elena has taken us to the cemetery and we are in the Fell crypt. "This is creepy, even for us" Bonnie states. I nod my head in agreement.

"No, Caroline was right...technically, she's dead. Sorry. But you don't need a birthday, you need a funeral. You need to say goodbye to your old life, so that you can move on with your new one" Elena explains.

"Okay. Here lies Caroline Forbes" Care says with a smile.

"Cheerleader, Miss Mystic Falls, third grade hopscotch champion" Elena says putting candles on the cake.

"Mean girl, sometimes, no offense" Matt adds.

"Ah, none taken" Care assures him.

"The best baby sitter ever" I say hugging her.

"She was 17, and she had a really good life. So rest in peace, so that she can move forward" Elena states. She walks up to Caroline and I, holding the cake in front of her. "That's what you really need. What we all really need. Amen, or cheers or whatever. Bonnie?" she asks.

Bonnie lights the candles with her powers. I cheer. Care makes a wish and blows the candles out. After cake, I grew tired and fell asleep on Matt.

I wake up to Bonnie carrying me. "What's going on?" I ask her confused.

"The other three wanted to continue the party, so I offered to take you home. As I am tired myself" she states. I nod my head as we reached her car and get in. "So you and Jeremy are going to Denver?" she asks.

"Yep, a new start" I say with a smile.

"I'm going to miss you and Jeremy" she tells me.

"We'll stay in contact, but Elena feels it'd be safer if I left town for a while. She didn't want me to go alone, so Jeremy volunteered to come" I tell her. "But we will miss you all" I add. We arrive at my house.

"Sleep tight, I'll drop by tomorrow to see you both off" she tells me. I nod my head and thanked her for the ride. I then go inside using the spare key. I lock the door behind and go to my room. Calling it a night.

(Next morning)

Elena is hugging Jeremy tightly. "You're gonna have to let me go, eventually" he tells her with a chuckle. Elena lets go.

"Be safe, okay? And take care of MJ" Elena tells him.

"Yeah, okay, all right. Alaric's waiting" he tells her. As Bonnie appears, Elena gives me a hug. Letting Bonnie and Jeremy say goodbye. After they said goodbye, I hugged Bonnie. Jeremy and I grab our bags and get into the car. Ric drives away. I look back and wave one last time. Feeling like I've forgotten something, but can't remember what. Oh well, Jeremy and I will have a better life in Denver.
