Two
Now, where to start? Ah, yes. Malakai Monroe.
I suppose he was popular, as he was nearly all anybody talked about. He was in my science class, and I could tell just by watching him and his friends that everyone loved him. It was about as plain as the nose on his face. He even looked popular ; tanned skin, one blue eye, a green eye, blonde hair, and an infectious smile. I'd never cared about him much, it just hurt to see him with so many new friends right off the bat when I hadn't seen mine in forever. Or, I'd kept telling myself that I didn't care about him that much. I kind of liked him. I never made a big deal out of it or anything. I'd just occasionally glance at him smiling like the ray of sunshine he was, and I'd smile, too.
One day, I sat at lunch. I ate halfheartedly. Suddenly, I saw a panicked Malakai race towards me. At first, I thought a friend of his was behind me, but I was all alone. "Malakai?" I asked, wiping my glasses on my jacket. He breathed a breath of relief. "Oh, good, you know who I am." "Um, yeah, in case you didn't know, you're all anybody talks about." He laughs. "Oh, no, I wasn't aware." I laughed in return. "Anyway, I wanted to talk to you. Malcolm, right?" I nodded. "And whatever would someone like you want to talk to me about?" "Do you remember Katelyn?"
