Chapter 38

Guys it's time I come clean.... I have secretly stalked a lot of your accounts 😂 Mostly those of you who comment on the book or have followed me. Also why do I have so much in common with so many of you?! 😂😂😂 Anyway on with the story!

•••••

I have decided that it's finally time to go and deactivate the guns. Tomorrow will be the war so if I deactivate everything now, hopefully they won't realize it in time to fix it.

I already asked BEN if he would help me with the cameras and he agreed. After telling him my plan he told me he could also deal with the motion sensors too. I don't know why I didn't think of that in the first place but I'm glad he mentioned something.

I put on a (F/C) hoodie and a pair of jeans before leaving my room. Then I grabbed a backpack and made my way to the organization building. Once I was close, I shapeshifted into a lizard and crawled through the mail slot. After that I crawled into the bathrooms, shapeshifted back into myself, and called BEN. "Okay, I'm in. Do you have everything turned off yet?" I asked, keeping my voice low in case anyone was still here.

"Yeah, you're good. I turned off everything in the building." He replied. "Did you see if there was anyone else here?" I questioned him. "Nope. The building is clear. You're free to roam around. I'll let you know if anyone shows up though." He told me.

With that I ended the call and exited the bathroom. I walked quietly towards the lab and opened the door. It was very dark, but luckily I had grabbed a flashlight before leaving my house. I turned it on and evaluated the room.

Everything seemed to be the same as the last time I was here except for a few small things that had been moved around. I couldn't get distracted by small details though, so I quickly got to work.

One by one, I grabbed guns and popped them open. I destroyed anything that had to do with the second mode, but left everything else in tact. I took all the wires I had messed up and slid them into my bag. If I left them here, there was a chance Rick and Morty would be able to fix them and put them back into the guns. After that, I put the covers back on the guns and erased any evidence that I had been here.

I took a deep breath before I looked around the lab again. The guns were deactivated. I didn't need to worry about them killing my friends anymore. Sure the guns could still shoot normal bullets, but normal bullets can't kill them. I smiled at my work.

After I left the building, BEN turned all the cameras and such back on, making it appear as if nothing had happened. I told him I'd meet him back at the house. I needed to destroy these wires. For some reason, I just wouldn't feel like my job was accomplished until I did.

I walked into the forest and found a decent spot to do what I needed to do. I was going to build a fire and burn everything to ash. I started collecting sticks and everything else I would need for a fire before I set it all down on the forest floor. I took out a match box and dramatically struck the match and tossed it at the pile of sticks. I smiled as it began to burn.

Then I took the wires out of my bag and tossed them into the fire. Technically it wasn't just wires I was burning but close enough. I wasn't sure how long this would take, so I climbed up a nearby tree and made myself comfortable.

The sky was dark and there were no clouds at all, meaning I could see the stars perfectly. The smoke from the fire escaped from the tops of the trees and dissipated into the night. If I could stay in this moment right now, I probably would. But I couldn't and I knew that, so I slipped out of the tree and walked through the forest, collecting more fire wood.

When I came back to the fire, there was someone else there. I stopped in my tracks and quickly concealed my presence. Who could it be? I peered through the trees and watched as the person studied the fire. I couldn't make out any of their features as I was too far away, but I could definitely see they were there.

I began making my way closer and closer. Soon I was close enough to see who they were. I let out a breath of relief as I saw it was just Masky. I really didn't feel like fighting anyone right now. Calmly, I stepped forwards and made my presence known.

Masky jumped when I tossed the wood into the fire, but relaxed when he saw who I was. "What are you doing out here?" He asked. "I could ask you the same thing, you know." I responded. It was silent after that. The only noise was the crackling of the fire. "I couldn't sleep." Masky finally said, breaking the silence. "Ah I see. Why not?" I asked, deciding to sit down. Masky followed suit. "It's happening tomorrow. And even though we've all been training really hard, I can't help but to feel worried." He confessed.

Images of Masky and Hoodies lifeless bodies flashed into my mind. I quickly shook them away. "Don't worry Masky. We know their weaknesses. We know how their dynamics work." I told him. Masky shook his head. "But we don't know who the traitor is. Tomorrow I could go out there and suddenly be attacked by one of my friends." Masky said, looking off into the distance. I sighed.

"What are you hiding (Y/N)?" Masky suddenly asked. I looked at him in confusion. "Before you told me not to worry because of what we know, you had this look on your face, like you remembered something terrible." He explained.

Fuck. Masky was too good.

I sighed. I guess I had no choice but to tell him. "A few nights ago, I had a vision. A vision about tomorrow.... it- it wasn't pretty. A lot of us died and... and well we definitely didn't win. I watched Slender get taken by surprise. I watched as BEN sacrificed his life for me. I watched helplessly as you tried to defend Hoodie. I- I saw it all. I realized that it was my fault. I had forgotten about the guns the organization had. Guns supposed to be able to permanently kill immortals. And because of that, we lost." I confessed, staring at the ground. But then I faced Masky.

"But I took care of it. The guns can't kill us anymore. We will not die on that battlefield tomorrow." I stated, staring directly at Masky. I was confident in what I had said and I let it show. "Did you- did you see who the traitor was?" Masky asked hesitantly. "No..." I answered sadly.

Masky nodded his head slowly. Then I chuckled. "What's so funny?" He asked, looking towards me. "I just find it funny how we always seem to end up in situations like this. I mean this is the second time we've had a serious talk like this." I explained, smiling. "Yeah. I guess you're right." He responded. I could hear the slight happiness in his voice. Like he also found it amusing.

I had successfully lightened the mood.

"I heard you took Toby out to get waffles." He said, after a moment of silence. I smiled. "He told you about that?" I asked. Masky nodded his head. "He wouldn't shut up about it. He kept bragging that he had gotten the best waffles in the world and just kept going on and on and on." Masky explained. I chuckled. "Well I'm glad he enjoyed it. After I caused him to drop his waffles on the floor, I really thought he was gonna kill me." I laughed. Masky laughed too.

"He really does love his waffles..." he trailed off. "Yeah..." I agreed. After that we stopped talking and just enjoyed the fire. At one point, Masky left to get more wood. I took a stick and poked around the fire, trying to see if the wires and stuff were ash yet. There was still some small pieces left.

Masky came back a bit later and added more wood to the fire. I let out a yawn. The warmth of the fire was starting to make me sleepy. At first, I tried fighting it off, but eventually, sleep won. The last thing I remember was someone picking me up and taking me somewhere.

-itty bitty time skippy-

I woke up to BEN gently shaking me.

"Hey... we gotta get up." He said softly. I yawned and opened my eyes looking up at him. "Okay." I responded. As I got out of bed, I remembered last night. I think it was safe to say that Masky and I had become good friends.

I smiled at the thought. It was nice having people I could trust.

And then I frowned.

There was someone I couldn't trust. And I didn't even know who they were. But today was the day I'd probably find out. I sighed as I looked over at BEN. "We gotta go meet everyone else, don't we?" I asked. BEN nodded his head. I sighed and began getting dressed.

After I was ready, I went upstairs and opened the fridge. We still had plenty of Sunny D left. I was going to need it if i was planning on making it through today. BEN watched me as I drank glass after glass (A/N: when u can't drink alcohol so u drink sunny d to drown out ur sorrows instead XD). He had a sad look in his eyes, but he didn't stop me.

Eventually I just stopped myself. I couldn't do this! I was acting like we were all going to die today! It's not fair to my friends if I show up with that kind of attitude. I took one more swig of Sunny D before pushing all the negative thoughts to the back of my mind.

My previous vision replayed in my head once more and I sighed in frustration. Everything happening just felt like it was leading to the same ending. I sighed once again. Then a thought hit me. I can't change what I saw. But this was my second chance. Maybe if I just changed a few minor details, it wouldn't feel the same as my vision.

I went back down to my room and grabbed my earbuds. Then I plugged them into my phone and put all my music on shuffle. I didn't have music in my vision.

Then I laughed at how weird I was being.

Things wouldn't be the same now as they were in my vision. I got rid of one of the main things that resulted in our loss. The immortal-killing guns.

Still though, I took comfort in the music playing in my ears. I had changed a minor detail.

BEN and I left the house and made our way to where we were supposed to meet the others.

"Is everyone here?" Masky asked looking around. I looked around the open field we were gathered in. We were about two miles away from where the organization had planned to gather all their people. Slenderman and I explained all the enemies weaknesses as the others listened intently. We spent a long time preparing.

It was finally time.

I left the pastas to meet up with the organization. A few others were already there but I ignored them. Just as I was about to climb up a tree, I remembered my vision, and climbed up a different tree. Then I made myself comfortable. Eventually someone came over to me. It was Rick.

"Are you (Y/N)?" He asked, staring up at me. I grinned and jumped out of the tree, bowing. "The one and only." I replied, giving him my best smile. "You don't remember me?" I asked him, staring at his familiar features.

"No no I remember you. Anyway I'm here to give you your gun. We're still not sure if it can successfully kill creepypastas permanently but today we will learn." Rick said to me, handing me a futuristic looking gun. I took the gun into my hands and nodded.

Unlike in my vision, Morty was with him this time. We exchanged our greeting before him and Rick had to go. I smiled as they walked away.

This time, things would be different.

We were going to win this war.

Haha so what are you guys thinking?

Also what did you think of the Masky scene?

Oh! And one more thing. I couldn't help but to be reminded of a TØP song as I wrote this. Idk if you've ever heard Fairly Local but that's what it reminded me of. He sings about switching things up in order to stop the cycle of repeating things which is what I feel like (Y/N) is doing. She's changing minor details from her vision hoping it'll change the battle. Then again she already fixed the gun problem, so what does she really have to worry about? Right? Right??

Anyway until next time~
