[20] The Surprise
The afternoon was sleepy but I was all awake.
Washing clothes.
Wiping the corner of my eyes, I shook my head. "Do I sound like a horny bitch, Chelsea? Please tell me, honestly. I know him from how many, eight-nine days? Oh my God! I should have counted the days. I should have scratched those tally bars on the wooden door to count days and the date like they do it in the survival movies. I don't know what's date it is today. What's the day today! And I am freaking losing myself to him!"
She smiled sadly while collecting her clothes in the basket. "You have been virgin all your life. A little enjoyment won't harm you."
"Oh! It's going to harm my sanity," I whispered while rubbing finger tips against my lips.
Chelsea put her bucket aside and walked closer to me. She spread the clothes properly that I was trying to hang on the dried stem rope. Amelia had given it to me to use to hang clothes for drying them naturally.
"Did you enjoy it?" She asked, looking at me with those brown eyes.
"I did." I chewed on my lips.
She sighed heavily. "Then, be happy that it happened. Be grateful, it was your choice, not his this time."
Spreading the four skirts and tops, along with Karam's four shirts and two breeches—I stepped back and let out a gasp of relief.
"He must be feeling so victorious." I mumbled and whimpered in embarrassment. "I didn't know I was such a whore. The horny side was so crazy last night. He just had to be that good."
"That good, Erh?" She teased with a straight face and humorous eyes.
I huffed and rolled my eyes, letting out another whimper. "Thank God, he left early in the dawn. I don't know how am I going to meet his eyes again now. I don't think I can do it," I mumbled, kicking a pebble in frustration. "He is. . . I don't know. I couldn't resist it. Yet now I feel, my Gran would hit me."
"Misty, it's your life too. If you enjoyed it, then there's no regret." Chelsea sang while dusting her hands and sitting on the carpet under the tree.
I huffed and sat beside her, laying on my back to look up at the green leaves blocking the sunlight. "There is no regret, Chelsea. But I am uncertain about the future. I am not being honest to myself. I know, I will end up getting pregnant with a Lycan baby if he keeps seducing me like that."
"And how did he seduce you?" She asked, giving me a raise of eyebrows. "Did he lick his lips?"
"No," I whispered.
"Did he roam shirtless in front of you? Did he remove his clothes in front of you? Did he flirt with you?" She asked, defending him.
I twitched my lips and whimpered in frustration. "He flirts. But he didn't flirt before that happened. I don't know. There was this promise in his eyes. The promise of pleasure or something like that. He was intense."
"Intense in pleasing you?" Chelsea asked quietly.
I nodded. "In pleasing me."
"Then, you should only be grateful, Misty. Not everyone gets the pleasure. Some just gets the unnecessary roughness and domination," she whispered absentmindedly while looking up at me.
I glanced at her in sudden worry. "Your mate. . . He-He. . . Don't tell me. . . he gave you those marks?" I asked while observing her right cheek with those two dark scratches.
She glanced at me, our eyes met. "He did."
"Why?" I gasped while sitting up properly. "Why would he do that? He hit you?"
"When does he not hit me," she said, chuckling sadly. "I think, he doesn't love me. I am more of a toy to him, Misty. Something to release exhaustion upon every night."
"Why?" I asked, giving her a concerned look.
Chelsea shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know, Misty. We talk less. He talks less and does more. He is an angry man," she said softly.
"Do you love him?" I asked, observing her sad eyes.
She blinked slowly. "I don't know, Misty." She whispered while looking at me blankly. "He has not given me a reason to love him."
Observing her black scars, I whispered, "You are a wolf. Shouldn't them be healed already?"
Chelsea's dark hair loosened as she pulled up the strip of a cloth and opened her braid. "He is a Lycan. The poison is effective enough to kill a wolf with one deep gash."
I covered my mouth in shock.
"I might be a wolf. But I am not immortal," she whispered while running fingers through her hair. "They take time in healing."
"But you said that the poison is bad. So, you must have felt pain and been wounded for days," I said, in a slightly raised tone.
She gulped slowly. "Goru gets rough at night. In the morning, he leaves for work and sends in the seer to tend on my injuries. She just gives me the paste of this one herb to drink and puts the oil on the scratches. It pains in the beginning but then, they heal. He is bipolar, I know. Still, he does that, so he can fuck me the next night, again roughly. Not because he cares. The cycle continues."
My heart squeezed at listening to her words. "What a cruel coward man!" I said through gritted teeth, feeling angry at him. "Can't you just complain to Amelia? She is the Luna. Isn't she?"
Chelsea scoffed while giving me a look of hopelessness. "You think, that will end the misery? No, it won't. In the end, the male wins. They overpower us. My Luna can only tell me to keep my mate happy, Misty. She tells me that it is the male who is more caring and thoughtful than me. He is running my home. He will be the father of my pups. The lecture is lengthier enough to make realize that she won't scold Gorudo."
Her eyes were so blank and voice was firm. As if she was tired of spending tears while talking about this.
"And she does it only for my safety. If she insults him, I will only be getting more hatred and roughness from my mate." She said, playing with the hem of her skirt absentmindedly.
My jaws clenched slightly. "How many times did you go to complain to her?"
"I could never," she said while lowering her eyes. "I didn't want to come in her sight. Especially, when I was the exchange last year. Just that she saw the scars when she had come to see me the day. . ." She gulped hard as her voice had started shaking.
My heart dropped in sudden worry as I grabbed her hand and squeezed it. "What is it, Chelsea?"
She looked at me, finally some tears hanging in her lashes. "The day I had a miscarriage."
I left her hand slightly. My eyes widened in shock while a sudden hole started forming in my chest.
"I was four months long, Misty. I knew, I was doing well. I didn't even work around for you-know-what purpose. I had been sitting at home, peeling off potatoes for this meat curry Goru likes so much. All was well and I see a pool of blood under me on the floor all of a sudden," she whispered while letting out a faint hiccup. "Goru thinks, I did it knowingly. I swear on my life, Misty. I didn't kill my pup."
A sob broke out from her while I kept staring at the dried muddy floor of the forest with disturbance spreading all over my mind.
"He has been angrier since that day."
I blinked in extreme disgust. "He is the jerk of the century," I muttered while flaring my nostrils.
"This is why, I am telling you to appreciate your mate's advances. His thoughts are ahead of the century his pack is living in, Misty."
Chelsea held my hand and tugged on it to make me look at her. She leaned closer and blinked those tears away. "You are fortunate for being chosen as the bride of an Alpha Lycan. For one of the royals," she whispered while giving me the determined look. "Your life is different than mine in so many ways here. You are at much peace than I am. I don't even know how peace feels like. Maybe, a new friend like you is what I would call it now."
A sad smile curved my lips while she nodded. "The brides of other royals are just like me, dominated and silent. They have forgotten their powers. Their potential. But you are here, with perks of being mated to a good man like Karam. Appreciate it and. . ." She gulped and mouthed, "Use it well."
Chills ran down my spine while she cleared her throat. "Since you have dried yourself from all the sweat, we can bathe now," she said while backing away.
I had gotten confused by her sudden change of tone.
"Come on. I want to swim," she said while collecting the bedsheet as we got up.
Slowly, I heard the footsteps and giggles. A group of five women with raised ears passed from area we were sitting in.
I looked at them while they observed me up and down. Muttering things to each other's ear, they snickered and went away with buckets full of wet washed clothes in their hands.
When they were gone, Chelsea sighed heavily. "They like to dry clothes at their homes. But you should dry them here only. We will get more time to bond," she said, faking her chirpy tone. "And you can't carry that iron bucket full of wet breeches of your tall Karam."
I rolled my eyes while following her around the banks of the lake. "He is living his dream. Isn't he? He managed to awaken the whore hidden in me cleverly. I can't even deny now that I didn't like it. He had asked me the permission. I gave it away just like that. Not that I regret it. I am going to cherish it," I mumbled while thinking deeply. "Just that I am scared, I end up doing more. He truly is living his dream now that I am washing his clothes too, here."
Chelsea chuckled lightly while giving me a hand as we climbed over a big tree branch lying in the way. "About the physical relationship, well like you said. You enjoyed it. But washing his clothes? He too plucks fruits and vegetables for you."
"Well, he is a Lycan and a male. He is naturally stronger than me, physically. While I am gasping for breaths here with aching legs and arms after beating those clothes against that stupid fat rock to wash off that dirt!" I said, frustratingly. "I should have been in the college instead! Meeting new people! Learning new things!"
She laughed out loud while removing her sandals. "Well, you are meeting new people and learning new things."
Swimming around for five minutes, we relaxed ourselves and slowly, Chelsea got to her spy mode.
"So, what's going on in the family?"
I smiled nervously. "Yeah. Well, Karam told me that he would take me to Savina. She is my cousin, you know from Mom's side."
She nodded while pushing her hair away from forehead to the back of her head. "They'll be nice to you which is not usual. Since, the Beta is a bit of douche. He is strict and likes to have things done proper. He is the kind of man who likes perfection. I have seen even the Alpha getting irritated from him. He can read eyes. So, you better not try any tricks or wits. Also, Virion is younger than your Karam. They will try to influence your mind by how Savina is pregnant. You will have to take care of that."
My lips curved into a smirk. "You have done your research."
"I am on a mission. Aren't I? About you, I can't say. You weren't trained." She said while giving me a playful look, faking another laughter. "When you feel like you don't want to work along with me, you can always tell me that you love Karam and his family. I will not blame you for it, Misty. I will understand."
I stayed quiet and collected some drops of water in my hands and played slowly.
"But you are my biggest advantage. You are of the royal family, now. You will be able to grab all the details. Our main purpose is to dig these details enough to find Severa's bones, Misty."
My eyes lowered as I swam aside while thinking about it. She took rounds around me.
"Karam is so head over heels for you, your words can even influence his mind. That's the biggest key."
I smiled at her meaningless words. "I am the one getting influenced, here."
She shook her head while looking up at the sky, dipping her hair in the water fully as they flowed beautifully.
"Because he has introduced his world to you and you haven't yet."

.
I stared at the door as Karam knocked it for the third time.
I glanced at him in frustration and ended up blushing slightly when our eyes met.
"Why are you so quiet, today?" He asked while leaning against the frame of the door in wait and looked at me. He crossed his arms in amusement.
I faked the stern gaze and shook my head. "I have never washed a sock with my hands and I had to wash yours," I said, looking at him. "Stinking like hell. And how big your foot is."
He nodded in fake sincerity.
I narrowed my eyes. "You are enjoying this. Aren't you?"
"No. I am loving the red lips," he said, glancing at my mouth.
I turned quiet, remembering how Amelia gave me the so-called beetroot to apply it like a lipstick.
I zigzagged my jaw, shaking my head. Glancing at him, he was still staring at me in amusement.
"Why aren't they opening the door?"
"They heard us," he replied calmly with a small smile.
I knocked the door and started knocking it continuously in irritation.
Karam's arms loosened as he stood up straight to stop me. "My mate is always so impatient."
"I am the impatient one here?" I said while looking up at him. He glanced around, smiling at the wolves and Lycans who were passing the street. But I didn't care. "Says the one who threw fits over me denying kisses."
"Says the one who loved those kisses." He said, mimicking my tone, in my ear.
I looked at him and shook my head. "Look, I am very tired, Karam. My legs are all gone from bringing that bucket of clothes back to home. I did that to return your favors of fruits and vegetables on me. Now, stop with the romance. I am done with you," I mumbled, curling my toes in frustration.
"Who is throwing fits now?" He mumbled while tracing his finger against the designs of leaves on the wooden door. "If you don't want to meet your sister, we can go back and then, repeat what we did last night."
"We are never repeating that."
"We are."
"Never."
"Forever."
"Would you stop?"
"Never."
I gritted my teeth and was about to give him a death glare.
The door opened and appeared a young boy of Lysar's age. Not as tall as him but definitely bulky.
He had curly hairs to my surprise and it made me smile slightly. But it faded as soon as I saw his face looking slightly familiar. Thanks to him growing only a faint stubble. But then, I observed the scar on his lower cheek. He must have shaved it off to tend the scratch.
His blue eyes hid behind folds of muscles when he saw Karam and me.
"Ah! Look. Look. Who's here, father?" He laughed while throwing his arms around Karam who hugged him tight.
I saw my mate ruffling his hair while pulling away from the hug.
"Come inside," said the boy while nodding at me with a cheeky smile.
Karam grabbed my hand, to my irritation and made me follow him as we walked through the corridor with dark bricked walls. The floor was sandy.
But as we walked further, the corridor opened up into big yard in the square shape. It's four sides were surrounded by rooms. I looked up and noticed the two storey building with the terrace being two faced.
There were tables and carpentry tools laid at one corner of the yard.
A young man was wiping his hands with the cloth and laughed when he caught us walking out.
"Big brother." The man said while hugging him. "May the Goddess bless you too."
Karam smiled at his shoulder and pulled back.
The doors opened and walked inside the yard, a woman walked towards us with the swollen belly. Behind her came out the aged man who had announced about the arrival of Severans that day.
He looked more scary and stricter from the close. His skin was rough and the beard was white. The white hair were tied back into a bun. Behind them, came running a little boy with a stitched doll in his hands.
Even the doll had pointy ears.
"It's Misty. Isn't it?" The pregnant girl said while coming closer to me. She looked like an older version of Gina.
"Savina?" I asked, looking at her with surprised eyes. She was glowing pretty like the people say how it happens during pregnancy. Her hair were raven and eyes so blue.
She nodded with glossy eyes. "You do look like Aunt Malina."
Hearing Mom's name opened the door of memories in my heart that had been closed all these days. My eyes teared up and heart started squeezing. She rubbed my back while whispering, "Wish we hadn't met like this. Can't even say I am glad to have you here."
My eyes opened and I saw the men watching us.
Savina was being honest.
Pulling back, she cupped my cheeks. "But I am glad, it's him." She said while glancing at Karam.
Removing her hands, she gave me a sweet smile. Her cheeks were all chubby and double-chinned. Though, she had the beautiful nose ring. It was a tight one. Not a loose hula hoop like mine.
"I get it now. When I was fourteen, I spent summers at your mother's pack and she often used to share her thoughts to me. She showed me your photo too. I know everything that happened, Misty." She said while squeezing my hand. "I am sorry, how things happened in your life."
"I am glad how things happened, sis." I said, sending her a side smile. "Life with Gran has been much special."
She nodded, still giving me a sympathetic look.
"Savina? Virion?" A feminine voice came all of a sudden, making me look at the front, the same room from where they all had come. "Karam?"
The lady came in front, dressed in a lavender skirt and top. But it wasn't as fit as of Amelia's. This one was a bit aged and a bit overweight too. But seeing her normal ears, the suspense calmed down.
My eyes were still curious.
"Mother, you should be dancing. It is someone from home," said Savina while looking at the lady.
The lady walked to reach two steps away from me. She wasn't as tall as me, must be of Natalie's mate. But her face was so familiar.
"Home?" The lady asked while observing me from head to toe. There were less wrinkles, more innocence. As if she was the light of this house.
"She is the human daughter of Alpha Gilbert's mate, Valeria." The aged man announced it with his hands resting behind his back.
Suddenly, my eyes widened. I glanced at Karam and gasped. Looking at Savina, I gulped hard.
The lady was turning emotional by each second. Her eyes filled up and she grabbed my elbows. "You are Malina's daughter?"
I nodded while observing her trembling lips.
"Do you know my family? My brothers. . ." Her voice cracked while I observed the face of her son going blank.
Karam gave me a slight nod while the old man was looking all grumpy. The boy with curly hair was taking the little pup away to some other room.
"Stephen and Iago," I said, making her squeeze her eyes and let out a loud sob.
She hung on my arms, making me wrap them around her soft body. She pulled back and suddenly asked, "Oh my. . . Nathan must be so grown."
Savina twitched her lips in pity. She gave me an apologetic smile. "You don't have to say it, Misty. She knows. She just won't accept it."
My lips parted in disbelief. Valeria was making a mess of her with all the crying. Virion had to come and hug her from the side as she leaned on him.
Karam walked closer to stand beside me.
"Nathan and his mother are with the Moon," I said hesitantly, glancing at her mate who was now looking at me with the unwelcoming gaze.
I sucked in a breathe when she quietened down. I smiled slowly. "Iago has two sons. The younger one is the Beta. Both of them looks like Iago and a little bit of their mother. Taria is a wonderful cook. She made delicious pasta and other things for me all the time these last two months. Both the sons have found their mates. One of them is Uncle Robert's daughter."
Savina gasped. "Keira? With Ivan?"
I nodded while Valeria was curious. Her tears were drying up.
"Robert?" She looked around and remembered. "He was my childhood best friend."
"Really?" I said, smiling widely. "He has Keira who is of my age, then, two younger sons and now his mate is pregnant again."
"I am so happy." Valeria whispered, wiping her eyes with shaky fingers.
"You don't the know best thing yet!" I said, raising my voice in excitement. "Stephen is the best man in the world. He is genius. We are best friends. He is a great doctor and cook too. Together, we curse my Mom's mate a lot."
Savina chuckled while Valeria gave me a sweet smile. "You both are best friends? Did he ever take my name?"
I nodded with a genuine smile. "He does," I said looking at her mate who still had the grumpy face on. "He misses you."
And he thought, you were dead.
I controlled the urge to tell her this. But it would only make her more sad.
"Why a young female is a friend of an old male?" Her mate asked while scoffing slightly.
"How would you know?" I said, giving him a taunting smile. "I saw the way, you sent Janine with the girls. You aren't a friend to your daughter. You won't understand."
I looked back at Valeria, ignoring the glare I was feeling on me.
"Actually. I have gotten so close to Stephen, I asked him to date my grandmother. I mean that would be awesome. Both are singles."
The ladies chuckled while the men were all bored.
"Why don't you bring the soup in, mother?" Virion said while gesturing for Karam and me to enter one of the rooms. It had a rectangle table where we sat and talked.
Valeria soon brought the soup while I talked with Savina about everything that had been happening in the families. Karam and Virion were talking some wooden stuff and patrolling details with the old man.
She started serving us the bowls while I mumbled, "Thank you."
"How long have you been?" I asked Savina.
"Eight months," she said, smiling when Virion glanced at us.
"Tell me more about how you came to the pack," said Valeria curiously when all of a sudden the boy with curly hair and the little entered the room.
"Ah! I forgot to introduce you to him." Savina said as the boy ran to her, hugging her swollen belly. "Misty, this is my son, Vali."
"Hello, Vali," I muttered while waving a hi, awkwardly.
The pup threw tantrums while begging for another doll he must have lost in their backyard.
"I will find it for you. But first shake hands with her."
The boy gave me an irritated look and ran away.
I chuckled knowingly. "That wasn't the first time. The children hate me."
Savina and Valeria chuckled.
The boy with curly hair sat on the chair beside his mother. "Well, I won't hate you. Hello, Misty."
My eyebrows raised as how he knew the word. "Hey," I said, passing a tight smile.
"He is Scott," said Savina, teasing the boy. "The naughtiest of them all."
Scott nodded sarcastically while Valeria shook her head. "The naughtiest of them is Rosetta. Then comes, Virion. Then, this monkey." She said, ruffling his curls. She smiled at me. "Then comes my softest, Janine."
Her smile faded as her eyes filled up again. "My poor pup must be listening to the orders of those bitches." She said through gritted teeth.
"Your Rosetta is one of those bitches," said Virion while flaring his nostrils. "Stop with the whining, mother."
"Do not worry," said Karam while looking at Valeria. "My mate and I will be leaving for the temple soon. We would be bringing them back for the first return."
Valeria passed her a smile while I was stunned by Chelsea's accuracy.
Slowly, the time passed. We did the dinner there only. Thankfully, Savina likes to make cheese out of the milk and she made me a curry of it.
I updated them more about the details and everything. Savina was happy to know about her sister being mated to Viktor and her brother, Blake being mated to Leo's sister, Ellie.
I didn't mention Leo's health tragedy. If I did, it would have caught the men's attention about me bragging about Pete's bad deeds.
"Nirvan got one of the fairies," I said, making Valeria laugh. "He was so happy, I swear. More happy were his parents and Stephen. They were like, we are gonna have little Nirvans roaming around with white hair. Just like his." I pointed at her mate.
The old man gave me an intimidating look while I zigzagged my jaws, slightly scared of getting a scolding.
Karam scratched his beard awkwardly.
But all of a sudden, the old man laughed to my shock. "I am not a fairy. I am just old," he said, shaking his shoulder with that proper laughter.
I chuckled nervously, observing the rest of them glancing at the man in slight shock.
Valeria laughed while patting my back. She glanced at Karam. "She is so funny."
"She is." Karam said while passing me a smirk.
The old man huffed and went out to the street, keeping a check with stern eyes.
The night had darkened and when I looked up, I was mesmerized. The stars were so many and twinkling.
"We'll keep meeting, Misty." Valeria said while kissing my cheek. "May the Moon Goddess bless you."
She sniffed slightly and then smiled at Karam. "Bless you both."
Karam grabbed my hand as he nodded at last. "Must we go. My mate is sleepy."
The three of them nodded with Barald going ahead of the streets to make a round of patrol.
Virion waved when I glanced back.
"Oww!" I whined while stumbling on a stone. I looked back at the front. "I need a torch. I can't see anything."
Karam wrapped his arms around around my shoulders, pulling me closer. "I will guide you."
I huffed, still putting my arm around his torso, walking quietly.
"I am sleepy, Karam."
"Don't worry, we are close."
But he just took a left turn, instead of taking us straight.
"Are you sure, you are taking me home?" I asked worriedly. "Why am I getting the vibe, you are going to murder me in the forest?"
He grunted slightly. "Careful, there is a stone. Walk behind me."
I did as he told and was frustrated with the dark. "Where are you taking me?"
"The surprise was not limited to Savina."
My heart dropped in sudden terror.
The environment was so dark and silent here near the Beta's house. We still had a long way to reach home where the colony was a bit noisy and they would put torches in the street too.
"Karam, what time it must be? I want to sleep," I said, tiredly.
"Do you want me to carry you?"
"No," I said before he could even stop and do it. "Just tell me where we are going."
He stopped finally and knocked on the door.
The full moon light was not enough to get me the view of a street I have never been to before.
The smell of cow dung came so thick along with a very unbearable one.
"That's leather." Karam mumbled while rubbing my back as I leaned against his shoulder sleepily.
"This is the surprise?" I asked in irritation.
He sighed heavily while the door opened all of a sudden.
Whoever it was on the door didn't bring any lantern or lamp or a candle. He was taller than me but not more than Karam. I could make out a broad silhouette as bulky as Barald was.
"Is everyone asleep?" Karam's tone was calm yet authoritative all of a sudden.
The man bowed his head. "Not yet," the man said in a proud voice, showing he wasn't intimidated by Karam. Yet he was respectful.
"My bride wants to come inside."
My lips parted in sudden alert.
The man looked at me in the dark and nodded. He bowed his head and stepped aside for us to enter his home.
Unlike Barald's house, we were directly entering a cozy room full of wooden chairs and table. The four candles were placed at the corners of the room, making me observe the decoration of the room like the way we do in human world.
They had spongy seats over the wooden chairs to make it a sofa.
The man entered behind us and at the same time, someone from the other room entered the room. It was a man of Karam's age. Thick beard and pierced eyebrow. He had tied his hair in a bun.
"Karam," the man bowed his head, making me confused. "Is everything good?"
"Everything is good, Aslan." Karam said while removing his arm from around me and glancing back at the man who had opened the main wooden door.
I observed Aslan's pointed ears and his night shorts were made of the thick fabric. They were stitched like boxers.
"But I wanted to surprise my bride. You see, she is from the southern pack."
Aslan looked over our shoulders. I stepped back as the man who had opened the door came in front.
His face was wrinkled slightly and had hair with a mix of Auburn, grey and white color. He had made a bun too. But those eyes were familiar. That whole face was familiar.
"Joran. Aslan," said Karam while glancing at me. "My bride is the human daughter of the Luna of Southern pack. Luna Malina who is none other than Alpha Gilbert's mate."
The men's faces changed as they turned more serious and curious.
"My mate," Karam whispered while standing beside me. "This man is the elder brother of the man who never took you as his own pup. Joran Arche, the fifth son of Alpha Theodore of Rucussa."
My eyes widened slowly while spine was chilled.
Now, I knew why the face was so familiar. He looked like Gilbert so much. A carbon copy with the same eyes. Just that his complexion is paler than of Gilbert's pinkish one.
"And that is Aslan, his elder son. The boy who should have been the Alpha of the Southern Pack. If only there hadn't been a border." Karam whispered in my ear, making me stare at them like they were ghosts.
One more boy entered the room with curiosity in his eyes. He had shorter hair up to his shoulders. He bowed his head slightly at Karam who nodded in acknowledgement.
"Kaamil," he said, observing the boy who had pointed ears and body language same as of Uncle Robert.
I looked back at the old man, imagining Gilbert respecting him as a younger brother. But I couldn't. It was so unbelievable.
He looked emotional yet so controlled.
With open mouth, I tried to speak but only passed a shocking glance at Karam who gave me a small smile.
"Your brother Pete was destined to be an Alpha against all odds, my mate."
