[2] Fox
Karam
I couldn't stop thinking about all of it. About him.
Who was he? How could he be my mate? How could I be anyone's mate!
Sitting naked, in the middle of a single bed, covering myself with the furs—I was losing my mind.
The two doorframes were a toilet and a bathroom. I could swear, I was shaking here in trauma of seeing the stone bricked kind of toilet seat attached into the raised floor.
The Lycan girl guided me to the little room when I managed to utter the word toilet and she replied with 'piss?'. With a small lamp at the right side on the seat, I did what I had to and digested the fact that I had taken her support by leaning over her body to walk with my broken leg.
I had the slightest idea that it was broken because the bandages were so tightly done. I couldn't feel my muscles inside. It ached at the hip bone like a bitch when I bent down.
She gave me a soap that was darkest of green and smelled like an animal's dung. I couldn't understand if my hands were getting cleaned or dirtier.
"If you keep those tears coming, Uncle will be here soon to question me, Aunt Misty."
Turning on my left side, I breathed heavily, wiping my cheeks. "Can you provide me some clothes?" I whispered quietly.
"Oh." She chuckled obliviously. "They are being tailored. Mother took your size and went to order the. . ." She sighed. "Do-Do you feel cold? I will bring more furs for you."
It felt like a punch on my heart, my lips parted in shock. The damn woman took my size. How did she do that? Touching me whilst I was unconscious.
Ants kept crawling on my skin.
I glanced at her through blurry vision. "I can wear yours," I told her, cringing at my cracked voice.
She observed my face with curiosity resting in her eyes. "As if I didn't think of it, Aunt Misty. But a bride only wears the clothes that are tailored for her specially. At least, before the rituals—"
"Rituals?" The hair on my neck risen like I was given electric shocks. My eyes widened. "What rituals?"
Her eyebrows raised as she tilted her head, watching me getting tensed. "You don't know? The rituals to bond you and my Uncle?" She asked lightly, her hazel eyes twinkling in fascination.
I gulped hard, feeling my stomach churning crazily. Aunt Kate's words came to my mind immediately. "Li-Like a We-Wedding?" I choked out.
Her eyebrows furrowed. "Wedding?" She looked away in thought. As if her bulb lit up in mind. "Oh! Is that what they say in your world? Wedding, it is." She nodded with a smile.
The beatings of my heart started echoing in my ears loudly. My lips parted as I sucked in a huge breathe.
"We-Wedding?" I whispered to myself absentmindedly. The blood started draining off my face as I reminded myself. "I-I am just eighteen. No. No. No. No," I kept whispering while shaking my head.
Wedding
Rituals
Uncle
The cringe pinched at places so hard, I gasped loudly. Taking fist full of the furry blanket, I crawled ahead to get off the bed.
"Hey!" She squealed out, stomping around the bed. "You'll hurt yourself!"
I stepped ahead shakily, bending down to avoid the tightness I felt through my right leg. Keeping it bent, I started limping on the cold concrete floor towards the wooden chair.
Stepping in front of me, she blocked my way with confusion written all over my face. "What are you doing?" She asked worriedly.
My head raised to meet her eyes as she was literally towering over me. Clutching the blanket tight to my chest, I flared my nostrils fearfully.
"My dress. I ne-need to wear that—"
"No!" She squealed, shaking her head. "Just wait until my mother arrives. She is making food meal for you. See, you are all shivering. A hot soup would be a big deal for that paled body. . ." She smiled, showing me those canines.
My toes curled up when she grabbed my bare shoulders, nudging me to move back.
"No! You don't understand," I whispered desperately, chills running down my spine. "I am a human. . . I was thrown into this territory. . ." I choked out, controlling on a sob as my eyes filled up.
Her eyebrows raised in confusion. "Father said that you must be physically weak to not shift into a wolf. Do not worry, the mating would awake the wolf in you—"
My eyes widened in shock. "What did you say!" I screeched in fright.
Removing her hands off my shoulder hurriedly, I started walking around her while she turned around to face my back. Letting out another sob, I wiped my tearstained cheeks and kept walking towards the chair.
"Aunt Misty, you don't understand. You are the bride—"
"I am not your Aunt!" I screamed after turning around to face her. She gasped and looked at me in shock. "I am not the fucking bride! Do you hear me!"
She opened her mouth to speak. "But—"
"I am a human! I don't live in a pack! A human!" I screamed, telling her the bare truth. "Okay?" I sobbed out, making her breathe in surprise.
Picking up the dress, I sniffled hard.
Silence settled for the moment and all I could hear was my breaths along with the shuffle of the fluffy dress. The zip was already open. It seemed clean as there was no trace of mud I had been thrown on to that night.
Glancing sideways to hope for some privacy, I felt her gaze. Looking back at the front, using one hand, I pulled out the hem of blanket from under my arm.
With the motive of putting one foot inside the dress, I was stabling my balance. When all of a sudden, someone pulled the heavy dress from my hand wildly. Before the blanket could slide down my body more until I was fully exposed to the air, I pulled it hurriedly to look at the person only to stagger back in fright.
Icy blue eyes looked back at me with anger glinting in them. My soul shook when I observed the dark Kohl around them and the loose nose pin. Thin lips were straight, same as of the Lycan girl. The maturity she was lacking was present on this face in bulk.
Her eyes lowered down to observe my shivering body. A smirk rising up the corner of her lips and then, it slowly straightened back.
I observed her half braided bun, leaving the rest of the hair down.
She looked down at the dress in her hands while I glanced at the girl who was giving me a blank worried look.
"You look more fragile as awake." The woman said who was older than me but not that older. I couldn't guess anymore. Her figure was fine like a model and the aura gave me some strong vibes.
The voice was loud and not as soft as the girl had. Walking closer to me, she dragged the dress with one hand, looking straight in my eyes.
I couldn't meet her eyes for some reason until she said, "Thank the Goddess, I came on time. Or I would have to bathe this fragile body of yours with those waters again."
My eyes widened and the darkness started forming at the back of my mind. The places where the memories of these events weren't there.
"Too soft like a princess," she exclaimed, holding a taunting smile. Her hand reached for my bare forearm, making me raise my eyes to meet her icy ones. "I rubbed the paste off and there, a bruise appeared. Just like that," she whispered, blinking in some arrogant amusement she was feeling.
My heart trembled when her hand reached down my arm and grabbed the blanket.
I jolted with uncertainty while she tugged on the fur, making me confused to the core. What the f.uck was she doing? The terror started crawling down my spine.
She came further closer and gritted her teeth. "Do not dare talk to my daughter like that again," she said calmly, making all the blood return back to my cheeks. My face burned in utter humiliation when she tugged on the blanket again.
"Whenever the Goddess sends a bride here from the outside world, we bathe her to remove the impurities she might have bring along," she said, making me flare my nostrils. "Lower your eyes."
I did. And I was freaking ashamed of myself. I couldn't control this terror burning inside me.
"I treated you. The bruises, the broken bones. Then, I bathed you with holy waters like we do it with every bride."
My eyes burned with fresh tears when she whispered, "They all cry in the beginning. They must. Everyone misses home. But when they yell at us. . ." She breathed calmly. "You did it once when you are hungry, scared and cold. I understand. But when any of us gives you an order or advice, you listen. Or else. . ."
She leaned back a little to raise her hands.
The sound of shreds echoed in the room so she ripped my fucking dress in one go.
Throwing it away harshly, she scoffed. A chuckle escaped her at seeing me gasping open-mouthed and holding unshed tears in my eyes.
Holding my chin with her long and strong fingers, she made me look in her eyes.
"You are one of us, now. Ours," she whispered, giving me hard glance. "Give love and you get love. But if you resist or yell, I will fill your mind with horrors you would have never seen before."
My lips curled up as she pressed her fingers tips on my chin, making me wince.
"You have been the most awaited bride, human. Karam had lost his mind all these years in his mate's absence. But from last two days, he is sane."
I shuddered visibly, making her raise her eyebrows and blink in satisfaction.
She loosened her hold on my chin and observed me from head to toe again.
"I have seen him growing up from a boy to a man like a mother," she said, through gritted teeth. "I love him like he is one of my pups. If I see you resisting anything in front of him that might infuriate him, I will prey on you."
"There's been some mis-mistake. . ." I tried to speak, my voice coming out weak like a mice.
She flared her nostrils, smiling tightly. "Moon Goddess never makes a mistake, foxy. Even if she makes one, then you are the most beautiful mistake I have seen."
My breaths turned shallow when she showed her canines by smiling widely. She kept pushing her fingertips until I was unwillingly pouting. Tears slid down my cheeks while she added, "By beautiful, I expect you to be a naive soul, foxy. Just what our Karam deserves."
When a long sniffle escaped me, she turned silent. Sobs escaped me while she loosened her hold on my chin and removed her hand.
I bent down absentmindedly, letting out another sob to squeeze my eyes in shock of what just happened. How the fuck could she talk to me like that? I needed my Gran. My mom, here.
"Ah! Forgive me, I do not deal with unnecessary fits easily." She said, wrapping her arms around me.
I squeezed my eyes as she hugged me tight and rubbed my back. "I was in love with my mate. King was the scariest of them. But he is a wild one," she whispered in my ear. "They all are. You will get used to yours soon and there will be no tears then."
I breathed harshly when she further added, "You are as young as my eldest daughter. But by relation, we are already sisters. You can find a friend in me, foxy. I can guide you to woo Karam in all phases. The males have grown up eating the meals I cooked like a mother."
Pulling back, she smiled again, showing me those teeth and the mischievous glim in her eyes. "We are family," she whispered while looking at me. "But if you displease Karam, my mate and I will be your biggest enemies."
"Shall I begin by wiping these tears off," she said while rubbing her thumbs over my cheeks, looking back in my ehes. ". . . and telling you the names?"
She looked at her daughter and said, "The name is Amelia. I am the King's mate, your Luna and of course, your new sister. We have three pups. Three of them, females. Reveka, she is of your age. Emily, standing there to whom you need to beg forgiveness. Third one is Kenny." She smiled at me, squeezing my shoulder slightly.
I sniffled while glancing at Emily who was giving me a tight smile.
"Then comes, Robin. His mate was an outsider just like you," she told while taking me to the bed, letting me take her support. "He too has three females."
"After him, comes your Karam and then, it is Lysar." She told me, removing her hands off my shoulder as I sat down and moved back on the bed, not removing the blanket off my body. "Lysar says, his mate might not even have taken birth yet," she said, chuckling hard, making me nauseated to the bone.
"Do you know what that means, Foxy?" She asked, making me glance back at Emily who was smiling goofily.
I stared at the bed, observing the smooth white bedsheet. Moments passed and I stayed silent, lost in my thoughts.
Until she grabbed my hair roughly and brought her mouth closer to my left ear all of a sudden, scaring me to death.
But the real death came after her next words.
"You will be giving us the next Alpha, Foxy."
