Chapter 6
Sakunosuke was sat on the couch while reading his favorite book, the news playing on the television in the background.
He heard a knock at the door in a signature pattern and he smiled a bit.
When the door opened, he glanced over.
"Hey, Sayu. You're- oh my God!"
The moment he saw the blood dripping down her arm and leg, he sprung off the couch, his book completely forgotten about.
"What happened?! Are you okay?!"
"I'm fine," Sayuri brushed it off as she smiled at Sakunosuke. "Just scratches that need some patching. By the way, I want you to meet Osa!"
Sakunosuke finally looked over to the boy who was helping his sister. He scanned the stranger who had a cheeky smile that matched his sister's.
"Osamu Dazai, am I right?" Sakunosuke replied as he let them both inside, shutting the door behind them.
"The one and only! And you must bethe famous Sakunosuke Oda!" Dazai remarked. "Sayu has told me so much about you!"
"Likewise," Saku replied with a nod. "Now come on. Let's get you guys patched up. I don't want to clean blood off the floor if I don't have to."
They all crowded into the small bathroom where Sakunosuke dug through the cupboards to get some first aid for his sister and her friend.
Dazai looked between the two siblings, seeing how much they truly looked alike. "Sayuri Oda and Sakunosuke Oda. So Sayu and Saku. Do people ever confuse you?"
"That's a strange question," Sakunosuke replied as he pulled out the bandages and the alcohol.
"Odasayu and Odasaku," Dazai rambled on, mostly just distracting himself from the pain coming from the gash in his chest.
"Dont hurt yourself. Why don't you just stick to Sayu," Sayuri said with a lopsided smile.
"Then I'll call you Odasaku! There no confusion!" Dazai beamed as he shook off his jacket before unbuttoning his bloody white shirt.
"What the hell happened to you two?" Sakunosuke questioned as he looked at the wound on Dazai's chest.
"Wish we could tell you, but it's confidential," Sayuri replied with a sigh.
"Yeah, yeah. I know," Sakunosuke grumbled.
The room fell into silence as Sakunosuke helped patch the both of them up.
"Are you gonna stay for dinner, Dazai? We're having tonkatsu," Sakunosuke offered after finishing up wrapping Sayuri's leg.
"I won't turn down free food!" Dazai replied with a grin.
Sayu smiled as she carefully stood up. "We can have a movie night! Reports can happen in the morning!"
"You know Mori won't like that," Dazai replied.
"He can eat shit. As long as it gets done, there's no issue. Reports are boring anyways," Sayu remarked, walking out of the bathroom behind her brother.
Dazai chuckled lightly before following the two sibling assassins.
Mori sat at his desk as Sayuri walked into his office with a man walking in behind her.
The man wore an all white suit with a black and white checkered collar. His bobbed hair was paper white with a few streaks of black on the right side like piano keys. His Chelsea boots tapped against the floor as he followed behind Sayu.
Mori off course knew the man. Piano Man, the craftiest member of the Port Mafia, as well as the leader of the Mafia's group commonly referred to as the Young Bloods.
"You really should knock next time, Oda," Piano Man spoke with a lopsided frown as he watched the auburn haired girl prance up to the boss' desk.
"It's just Mori and Elise," Sayuri brushed off as she smiled at the blonde haired child that was sitting on the edge of Mori's desk.
"It's quite alright. I knew she was coming. You on the other hand, I was unaware of," Mori replied after waving his hand in slight dismissal of the previous topic.
"Oda asked me to come. Wouldn't tell me why though."
"I am curious to hear this reasoning as well," Mori spoke, turning his gaze to the young assassin.
"Dazai spoke to me yesterday about the decisions you were making on what to do about the Sheep. I had some input I would like to offer," Sayuri remarked calmly.
Piano Man glanced between the boss and Sayuri. Not many members of the mafia would have the gall to walk up the boss and tell him what they think should be done.
He had never formally worked with Sayuri, but they had spoken in passing at events and meetings. It had intrigued him when he had received the message from Sayu to come either her to speak with the boss.
"I'm listening," Mori replied, his hands folded beneath his chin.
"I'm sure it's no surprise that Chuuya is the strength behind the Sheep, but I'll be honest I think he could be useful to have on our side. I mentioned the idea to Dazai and he immediately hated it, but said it would do the trick. I propose that we bring Chuuya into the fold of the Mafia, and separate the Sheep from each other."
Mori hummed as he leaned back in his chair, contemplating the idea.
"It's clear to me that Chuuya values his friends in the Sheep. If it means keeping them safe, I'm sure he'll do anything for us," Sayuri continued.
"And what do you propose we do in the event that he betrays us?" Mori remarked.
"That is where Piano Man comes in," Sayuri replied as she motioned to the two-toned boy beside her. "Dazai refuses to spend any significant amount of time around Chuuya, so I figured that the Young Bloods would be be the best option. Piano Man and the others would watch Chuuya and monitor him. I'm confident that if the need arises, the five of them would be more than capable of taking Chuuya down."
Mori nodded slowly as he listened to the plan. He had to agree with her that it would be more than beneficial to have Chuuya on their side, and the plan had failsafes in place. "Piano Man, would you be up for the task?"
"Say the word and it's done, boss," Piano Man agreed with a curt nod.
"I'll allow it. I will leave you and Dazai in charge of preparations for the task," Mori said to Sayuri as he grinned.
"You got it, boss," Sayuri replied with a cheeky smile.
She pivoted on her heel and bounced out of the room with Piano Man on her tail.
"You really think this kid joining is the best idea?" Piano Man asked as they rode the elevator down from the boss' office.
"I don't really care about it being the best idea. I think Chuuya is fun and after seeing the way the Sheep treated him, he needs new friends. Plus, he's strong and have a powerful ability. Dazai agreed that he would do well in the Mafia and he drew up the plan," Sayuri answered.
"Why didn't Dazai just tell the boss himself?"
"No clue."
Piano Man quirked a brow as he looked at the young assassin. "You're the only one who's really gotten to know Dazai. He doesn't seem all that strong. He'd probably snap like a twig."
"No one will ever know what goes on in the twisted mind of Osamu Dazai. I know I don't," Sayu said as the upward curve of her lips fell flat. "But I do know that anyone that tries to touch him will end up dead."
"How do you know that?"
"Because I'll kill anyone that tries."

Walking down a busy street in Yokohama, Chuuya kept his hands shoved deep in his pockets with his head held a bit low.
"Chuuya!"
His gaze lifted as he turned to see Sayuri running towards him, clearly not worried about being in anyone else's way.
"Oh, Sayuri, hey. What are you doing here?" Chuuya asked as his shoulders relaxed a bit.
"I was looking for you actually," Sayu replied which made Chuuya quirk a brow. "Come on. Let's find a quieter place to talk."
The two made their way down the street as bit before going into a small cafe. Sayu slipped into a booth before Chuuya joined her, taking the opposite side.
"So, what did you want to talk about?"
"I did a little digging. The mafia took all of the files and documents that Rando collected over the years," Sayuri started resting her hands on the table in front of them.
Chuuya perked up a bit. "Really? Did you find anything about Arahabaki?"
That made Sayuri sigh a bit. "Not really, and now all of the files are under lock and key. Only Mori and the five executives have access. But I did learn some more about Rando himself. His name is Aurthur Rimbaud and the partner he mentioned killing was named Paul Verlaine."
Chuuya leaned back against the back of the booth as he listened intently.
"Did some digging on those two and found that Verlaine was also a gifted skill user. Interestingly enough, like you, he was able to manipulate gravity."
"Wait, really?"
"Yeah. They were spies for the French government, but other than that I didn't find very much. I did try though. Sorry it's not much," Sayuri said as she gave him a sad smile.
"No, no, it's perfectly fine. Honestly, you didn't have to do anything for me," Chuuya replied quickly.
"Of course I did! I told you, we're friends now and that's what friends do. Friends don't try to control each other."
Chuuya knew what she was referring to and it made his gaze drop to his lap. "They're all I have though."
"They don't have to be. I know it can be hard to let go, but in that small interaction you have with pinkie pie and shark boy, that's not how friends should act. The fact that they are holding it over your head that they saved you is so wrong. You don't deserve that."
"What should I do then?" Chuuya asked quietly.
God, it was so embarrassing for him to feel so vulnerable, but he truly didn't know what he was supposed to do. He couldn't have this conversation with any of his friends in the Sheep because they would think he was weak. Knowing that Sayuri wasn't judging him or holding it over him that he had to be strong, it was really comforting.
"I can't tell you what you should do, but I can tell you what I would do, whether it's right or wrong. I know that the Sheep are your family, but family shouldn't value your strength over you. I personally would walk away. That's part of the reason I respect Osa so much. I know he can be a piece of work, but he doesn't hang around me because he needs to. When you find someone who hangs around you for the mere fact that they want to, it makes you feel special."
"I can't understand how anyone can be friends with that bandage waster," Chuuya grumbled as he crossed his arms over her chest, slumping down a bit.
"You know, I don't think Osa believes we're friends," Sayu replied calmly. "He only ever says that we're partners. He's never called me his friend before."
Chuuya scoffed with a grimace. "Kinda shitty of him. Not surprising though."
"It doesn't bother me. Regardless whether or not he considers me a friend, the fact that he trusts me is enough. I know he seems a bit strange and creepy sometimes, but I enjoy being around him," Sayuri said, smiling as she rested her chin on her palm.
It was the first time Chuuya had seen her genuinely smile. The other times she had smiled, it either seemed fake or weirdly freaky. This smile was different.
"You really care about him, huh?"
"Besides my brother, he's more important to me than anyone else," Sayuri agreed. "Look, I'm not trying to make you feel like shit or say that you're wrong for the friends you have. I'm just saying that you deserve friends who trusts you. Not ones that use you for your power."
"Thanks, Sayuri. You're actually not as crazy as I thought you were," Chuuya admitted as he stood up.
Sayuri giggled a little. "I have my moments. Now, I gotta go. Here's my number in case you ever wanna talk again."
Chuuya watched her write out her number on a napkin before he took it with a smile. "I think I'll take youup on that sometime."
Sayuri stood up and the two walked out of the cafe, parting ways with a wave.
Dazai sat in the both behind where the two were, taking a sip of his coffee.
His lips were straight, no emotion playing on his face, but there was a small glint in his eyes that filled the usual dull void.
