Chapter Two, Familiar Returns and Announcements

Chapter Two, Familiar Returns and Announcements

The Emergency edition of the evening Daily Prophet rocked the Wizarding Community of Britain to its core - as seemed to be the norm as of late - but this issue was particularly shocking.

Attack on House Peverell

As the heading says, House Peverell is alive and the Dark Lord Gellert Grindelwald that has been plaguing our World as of late, broke into Lord Peverell's Manor on May 2nd after they were betrayed by a close friend: Pyotr Petrova.

With a band of five-to-one Grindelwald and his sycophants proceeded to attack, terrorise and torture Lord, Lady and Heiress Peverell. In an attempt to give his wife and daughter a chance Lord Cadmus Peverell took them on in an effort to give his wife and daughter a chance. However, due to the sheer force - cowardly in this writer's opinion, who needs sixteen people: including Grindelwald to take on a family of three?

Apparently the witches and wizards. Mother and daughter, despite their grief, duelled their attackers until they tortured the daughter to get information from her mother - which she never gave - so Grindelwald killed Lady Peverell in front of her daughter. Now, seriously injured and suffering blood loss, broken leg and Cruicartus damage, Heiress Peverell proceeded to duel Grindelwald and here's the shock dear readers, the famed Dark Lord was LOSING against Heiress Peverell; a newly of-age witch.

But is it any wonder when she was raised by TWO of the best and most renowned Duelling Champions in Russia, Austria and Britain. However, this is where the followers show their true cowardly colours. Seeing their leader was losing, Pyotr Petrova sent a Bone Breaking Curse to her left arm, her wand arm, while Vinda Rosier sent the Cruciatus Curse at this courageous young Heiress.

Despite this she still bravely fought against their tyranny with her shattered wand arm ignoring the rising pain, until she succumbed to the blood loss and torture. It has been proven by three Healers and the Head of the D.M.L.E that she would have died if not for Mother Magic taking her to Castle Black, to her Soulmate Heir Orion Regulus Black, where she is healing from her ordeal while acclimating to a foreign country.

Well, we at the Daily Prophet wish Lady Peverell all the healing prayers we can while commending her brave and courageous efforts. We can see she will do a lot for our Community.

~ Hogwarts, the Great Hall. ~

The Deputy Headmaster Albus Dumbledore clenched his free hand angrily under the table while fisting the newspaper with his other fist after reading the emergency edition of The Daily Prophet that evening at dinner. The Great Hall was buzzing with the news, both students and teachers alike, sounding like a hive of bees as they gossiped over this latest news. Shock, empathy and relief filtered around the Hall almost like they shared emotions. Albus Dumbledore was angry. He couldn't believe a Peverell had survived, a Peverell who was now residing in Britain with the Blacks. A family almost as Dark and corrupt as the Peverells were.

He knew she was a threat to his plans, a threat to him. Especially as his ex no doubt had the girl's father's wand. A wand he so desired for himself - The Elder Wand. Oh, he knew the paper never said anything about it - the girl was smart he'd give her that - but he knew Gellert had the wand. They had sought it together at one point, so he knew Gellert had taken it. Just like he knew the girl would want it back and that couldn't happen, she was too dangerous and had to be dealt with. One way or another.

~ Grimm Santorum, Castle Black ~

Vasilisa and Orion were having a wonderful time strolling around the gardens, Vasilisa was even granted a gift from Thanatos when they visited Grimm Santorum, the animal sanctuary on the grounds of Castle Black. It also had the effect of delivering a shock to Orion when one of the temperamental smoky grey Siberian owls landed on her shoulder.
"Lisa my love, stay still." Orion spoke very softly so as not to startle the owl and have Vasilisa injured further.
"Why? She's gorgeous." Vasilisa commented, hand raised to stroke the breast feathers when she noticed very familiar amber eyes, the owl even let out a very familiar bark. "Hedwig?" Vasilisa whispered emotionally.

'I thought I'd reunite you with your beloved Hedwig, my Mistress, by placing your familiar's soul into his smoky grey Siberian owl. She's been desperate to get back to you.'
'Thank you, Thanatos. You have no idea how much this means to me.' Vasilisa told him, feeling she couldn't adequately express her gratitude.
'You're welcome my Mistress.' Thanatos told her as he faded from her mind.
"Oh, Hedwig, I've missed you so much and I'm so sorry." Vasilisa whispered so quietly it was like a breath as she raised a hand to stroke her and a familiar golden light enveloped them.

"You truly are one amazing witch, Vasilisa Ivy Peverell." Orion commented, blinking the light from his eyes. Once he could see he offered his soulmate - who was casually standing there stroking the owl that seemed to be shrewdly assessing him weirdly enough - a blinding smile. "I'm so glad you are my soulmate as here you stand looking like a goddess stroking the most temperamental owl like it's nothing and making us look like fools." He teased her, silver eyes sparkling with amusement.
"She's just fiercely overprotective of those she loves, and she doesn't like disrespect, do you Hedwig?" Vasilisa crooned to the owl who puffed yo her chest proudly giving off a little bark. "Hedwig meet Orion Regulus Black my soulmate. Ori, meet my Hedwig. Both of you play nice." She threatens with a sweet smile.

When they finally did return to the Castle - before Uncle Nikolai went through with his threat to castrate Orion if anything happened to his Firefly, either from Orion himself or external factors - and explained Hedwig's presence on her shoulder, Vasilisa was introduced to Madam Prisha Patil of Obscure and Wonderful Wands and to Madam Mackenzie Lestrange of Twilfitt and Tattings. Both witches had been asked to Castle Black by Melania and Yelena as Vasilisa needed a whole new wardrobe and a new wand but didn't have the strength to prowl Diagon Alley.

After coaxing her owl to sit with Nat, Vasilisa allowed Madam Lestrange to take her measurements. Thankfully, after Madame Lestrange had added the measurements, her height, hair and eye colour as well as her complexion to the parchment she was done as her Aunt and Nat had gone over everything else before Vasilisa arrived.
"I shall have everything ready and delivered to you within two weeks, Lady Peverell." Madam Lestrange told her before she bid farewell.

"Mother and I gave Madam Lestrange a list of fabrics we thought would make you look even more stunning, Lisa. Along with shoes, bags, jewellery to match, shawls and coats etc. We thought it would ease your mind with everything going on." Nat explained.
"Thank you." Vasilisa sighed in relief, making everyone laugh.
"You're welcome sweetheart. We will always help you." Yelena told her, kissing her forehead.

Next it was Madam Patil's turn. She laid out a dozen boxes carefully on the sideboard before stepping away to measure Lisa's left arm, her wand arm, and height before she finally explained her process.
"Each box either contains wand woods, common to uncommon and even rare cores and the last contains a variety of gemstones. All you need to do is stick your wand arm, left hand in this case, into each box and pull out the object you feel most drawn to. Allow your magic to guide you." Madam Patil explained.

Doing as instructed, Vasilisa placed her hand inside the first box, feeling each item that was contained within. Finally, she felt a warm sensation trickling up her arm and pulled out a lump of reddish brown wood that seemed to pulse with her magic, a few inches longer than her palm. Sharing a delighted smile with her cousins, Orion, and Lucretia, Vasilisa proceeded to do the same with the remaining items until four objects sat on the desk.
"Fir wood, Thunderbird feather, Nemean Lion fur and an Amethyst." Prisha said in a pensive tone, looking from the items to the young Lady intrigued.

She suspected she was quite powerful and would only continue to grow into that power, and she couldn't wait to see what she would bring to the Magical World. "You are one rare witch, Lady Peverell," Prisha told her pensively as she used her magic, tools and knowledge of Wandlore to create the most glorious wand any of them had ever seen, "and I certainly cannot wait to see what you will bring to the Magical World. Know this: you will always have an Ally in House Patil." She told her seriously as she handed Vasilisa her new wand as two golden lights filled the room, one for the vow and one where the witch bonded with her wand. Mother Magic will certainly make sure House Patil stays true to their words.

"Thank you. And I accept your vow for Allies and House Peverell will remain an ally with your House as long as you and yours stays true to your words to me and stays true to Mother Magic." Vasilisa said seriously, completing the vow.
"I swear." Madam Patil promised, fully intent on making sure her husband, and her children and other members of her House, hold this promise and do not stray as she knew both Mother Magic and Vasilisa would not be forgiving.
