Chapter One, Inheritance and Healing
Chapter One, Inheritance and Healing
Orion paced up and down in his father's study - throwing all his training since he was a very small child out the window in the process - while they waited on tenterhooks for news. While his son and Heir was wearing a hole into the antique Persian blue rug, Lord Arcturus Sirius Black had just returned to his office after ripping up and obliterating the abominable contract into flames, as well as informing his cousin and niece that Orion has found his soulmate and Walburga will only remain as a Scion of the House of Black and never the Lady. They weren't happy, far from it, but there wasn't much that they could do; however, Arcturus wasn't stupid enough to underestimate Pollux's lust for wealth and power.
Now, however, he was composing three letters; one to Theseus Scamander Head of the DMLE informing him that his son's soulmate has been attacked and he is needed at Castle Black immediately; the second one to his Account manager informing him of what has transpired between Orion and Walburga and how the contract was now null and void. He also informed them about the situation between the young Heiress of House Peverell and his son, how she had been attacked and if immediate family could be contacted; and the third, he was writing a letter to his brother Regulus warning him to be careful of Pollux.
"Son, you need to calm down. She will be fine your Aunts, mother and grandmother will see it so." Arcturus reprimanded gently, looking up from his letters briefly before he sealed them and sent them off with owls or with Jommy, the head house-elf.
"I know Father," Orion sighed, slumping into the chair before his father's desk. It spoke of the emotional upheaval everyone was going through at the moment that Arcturus said nothing to his son's lack of mannerisms. They were all tense as they waited for news; praying to Mother Magic that she would survive.
"It's just if I didn't pray when I did -" Orion carried on his voice trembling before his father cut him off.
"Don't!" Arcturus cut him off sharply. "Do not think of the 'what ifs', son. It will only drive you mad." Thankfully before more could be said a sharp knock vibrated throughout the room as someone knocked on the red oak door of his office. "Come in." He called clearly, not a moment later the door swung open revealing Lady Melania Black, the second Orion saw his mother he leapt from his seat as if someone had shot the Stinging Jinx at him.
Much like her husband, Melania refused to reprimand their son and Heir, upon spotting the fear shining clearly in his silver eyes turning them into a dark stormy grey.
"She's asleep in a guest bedroom. There was a severe amount of injuries, multitude of cuts, broken bones, severe blood loss, and....and signs of curse damage from the Cruciatus Curse. We've healed up as much as we could but a majority of the injuries are from Dark Spells and will take time to heal. However, your Aunt Cassiopeia is looking up ways to further help her, Dorea gave her the correct potions brewed by Fleamont Potter and Lycoris put her in a Healing Sleep for the time being. That poor girl." Melania revealed sadly, trying to hold back the emotion that fought valiantly to take over her.
"Merlin's beard!" Arcturus whispered horrified, while Orion stood there in a horrified anger, his magic surging through him and into the room causing papers to fly around the room, and the windows to rattle. That is until the Blacks felt the Floo ding signalling someone wishes to Floo in, which helped Orion gather control over his boiling anger and his magic that felt hot like an inferno. "That must be Lord Theseus Scamander." Arcturus said hopefully, quickly leaving the room with wand in hand to check. Thankfully it was and he arrived back in the study in a matter of seconds with Lord Scamander who jotted down everything he was told with a grim look upon his face.
"Lord Scamander, thank you for your prompt arrival." Melania said graciously, showing him to the seat beside Orion.
"Not at all Lady Black." Lord Scamander waved away, taking a seat with parchment and a quill at the ready. "Now what has happened?" Orion explained he had been in the gardens praying to Mother Magic - who answered his prayers - by delivering his soulmate Heiress Peverell (which shocked Theseus) and how severely injured she was. Melania then carried on the explanation of the young Lady's injuries, and how it took the five of them to heal her apart from the wounds caused by dark magic which Cassiopeia was looking for a cure as they spoke.
"Did she wake up at all?" Theseus asked, looking up from the parchment where he'd been listing her very serious injuries by the sounds of it Orion had saved her life and just in time too.
"Briefly. I think the pain pulled her from unconsciousness and she freaked out for a moment. Once we told her where she was and who we were, her magic calmed down but she broke into tears the poor girl." Melania said sympathetically with tears in her eyes. "She has a Russian accent, as she's Heiress Vasilisa Ivy Peverell. Her parents are dead, killed by Grindelwald and his sycophants." She said angrily, relaxing when she felt her husband place a calming hand on her waist.
"She told you it was him?" Theseus asked, startled. "Is she awake? I'll need a full statement from her."
"No, she's in an induced Sleep." Melania informed him firmly. "And she did, yes. She cried muttering 'he killed them', Hesper asked who and she muttered Grindelwald killed her parents before passing out again. After that we placed her in an induced sleep so we could continue healing her."
"Very well, thank you. I shall inform Lord Ivanov of what has happened and where his niece is. Please let me know when she is able to make a statement." Theseus requested.
"Of course. Thank you for coming so quickly." Arcturus agreed, standing from his seat to lead the Head of the D.M.L.E back to the fireplace in the foyer. The moment they felt the wards over the fireplace snap back into place after the Lord had left, Orion looked to his mother, the question shining in his silver eyes darkening them to a stormy grey once more.
"Yes, you can go and sit with her. Tell your aunts and grandmother I said so, but do not get in their way." Melania warned.
"Thank you Mother." Orion muttered relieved, heading towards the guest room his soulmate resided in, as he got closer he could feel a warmth filling him from the very depths of his soul as the Soulbond started to form. As Orion took a seat at the young Heiress's bedside, in Arcturus' study, Melania took Orion's vacant seat looking at her husband.
"What are we going to do, Artie?" She asked, using the name only she could give him. Sighing Arcturus took his seat, it has been a long day already, just as he was about to answer his wife, his house-elf returned with a letter from Account Manager Sharptooth.
"We'll be there for her, Mel. For Orion's sake I hope she survives her injuries but I have a feeling she's a survivor." Arcturus said feeling proud of his future-daughter-in-law.
"That she is." Melania agreed. "Her injuries should've killed her but she's a fighter. What does Sharptooth say?" She asked.
"He's destroyed all copies of the old Betrothal with Walburga, and he's also informed Chief Usha what has happened and how Heiress Peverell and Orion are soulmates. She asks once Heiress Peverell is able to come to Gringotts at her earliest convenience to claim her inheritance." Arcturus revealed.
"She won't be going until she's fully healed, Arcturus!" Melania warned firmly, her brown eyes darkening as she placed her manicured hands on her hips. "I will not run the risk of her setting back her healing."
"Of course not, my love." Arcturus agreed, settling everything aside for now as he enjoyed some tea with his wife before he got back to work on the Black portfolios and preparing everything - with Melania's help of course - for Vasilisa. He couldn't imagine what the poor young woman had gone through but he vowed on his magic to do all he could for both her sake and his son's.
***
A fortnight and a half had passed since Vasilisa had arrived at Castle Black, she woke up with a soft groan at the pain that surged throughout her body. Orion who was fast asleep, slumped in the chair beside her bed, shot awake at her moan of pain. He had barely left her side the last few days only when either his mother or his sister forced him to eat, bathe and sleep when they took over for him. Lucretia had arrived yesterday with her husband when she heard the news from her mother (they had been away at the time), as both her and Ignatius wanted to offer Orion all the support they could.
"Heiress Peverell." Orion spoke softly and clearly. "It's okay, you're safe here. You're in Castle Black and my name's Heir Orion Regulus Black." Cricking his neck as he stretched out the kinks from sleeping in a chair, Orion leaned forward watching intently as he called for Kreacher.
A quiet pop sounded throughout the room as the young well dressed elf appeared beside Orion's chair.
"What can Kreacher do for Master Orion." Kreacher asked, bowing low beside the chair.
"Could you please inform my parents that Heiress Peverell is waking up." Orion requested, gently and tenderly brushing her soft, curly light brown hair out of his soulmate's face.
"Of course Master Orion." Kreacher bowed before he quickly popped away. He watched as she blearily opened her large eyes framed by long, thick dark lashes, only to quickly close them again due to the light, so Orion waved his hand dimming the lights a little; once again she slowly opened her eyes giving Orion the view of the most beautiful green eyes he has ever seen.
It was like looking at a pair of the most stunning emeralds the world could offer. Shaking his head a little to bring him out of his daze, he poured her some water and offered it to her.
"Here, drink some water before you try to speak." He suggested one hand cupping the back of her neck as he gently lifted her head up aiding her to drink. "Little sips." He advised, following the instructions his aunts had given him and he didn't want her to be sick upon first awakening. Vasilisa's breath caught in her throat when her brain correlated what her eyes were seeing. Orion was almost a double to her late-Godfather (or rather the other way round) but instead of Sirius's curly jet black locks, Orion had wavy locks to his shoulders with bright silver eyes, a tall lean and muscular build most likely from Quidditch and Duelling.
"Thank you, Heir Black." Vasilisa thanked, her voice soft but husky with her Russian accent.
"There's no need for that, my love. You may call me Orion." Orion flirted a little to ease the pain and wariness he could see in his soulmate; a wide grin spreading across his lips at her giggle. He could listen to that sound all day long without ever getting bored. Before anything else could be said there was a soft rapt on the door.
"Come in." Vasilisa called, holding in a whimper of pain that surged through her as she tried to prop herself up. A second later the mahogany door opened revealing two people she knew from this life (thanks to the memories Thanatos created and implanted where necessary).
Along with them were three others who she knew from only photos and descriptions that Sirius had shown/given her in her previous life as Vasilisa Potter. These were Lord Arcturus Sirius Black, Lady Melania Katie Black née MacMillan and Heiress Lucretia Prewett née Black - Orion's father, mother and elder sister respectively.
"Dyadya Nikolay! Tetya Yelena!" Vasilisa cried, speaking in Russian, tears gathering in her expressive green eyes. Drawn by the familiar voice, they couldn't help but succumb to a tidal wave of emotion when they cast their gaze upon their niece; horrified gasps leaving their lips at the severely injured sight of their beloved niece.
Her skin was a grey sickly colour, her once bright eyes were dull, lifeless and filled with so much pain and suffering. Her light brown hair was matted with blood, she was covered in a multitude of bandages (some of them were already bleeding through), her left arm and right leg were in a splint, and to make matters worse her limbs were trembling without assistance or her consent, showing that their beloved niece had been tortured for an unknown amount of time.
"O, bozhe moy, milaya! Nam ochen' zhal', chto my ne smogli vas zashchitit'!" Yelena exclaimed, darting forwards to the queen sized bed in the middle of the neutral but very elegant room. Perching on the edge of the bed, Yelena gently cupped her niece's cheeks assessing her with her own green eyes but they were more of an apple-green compared to Vasilisa's emeralds, seeing that she was relatively okay, the doting aunt rested her forehead against her niece as the pair of them closed their eyes relishing in this moment. "We were so terrified, I love you darling." She said in English this time with a heavy accented Russian accent.
"We're sorry you had to go through that, my little cherub." Nikolai apologised, coming to stand beside the bed running his fingers through Vasilisa's hair. "Sorry Lord and Lady Black." He turned to apologise to the Lord and Lady of the house.
"No apologies are necessary, Lord Ivanov, I would be the same if it were my children." Arcturus waved off, moving further into the room with his wife showing that he was carrying the necessary items for his wife to treat Heiress Peverell.
"Good afternoon Heiress Peverell, I am terribly sorry for the loss of your parents and what has happened to you. No one should have to go through such atrocities." Arcturus said, apologising to the strong young woman.
"Thank you Lord Black and Lady Black for healing me." Vasilisa thanked them gratefully, before she turned to Orion. "And Orion, thank you -"
"You don't need to thank me. I'll always be there for anything you may need." Orion interrupted, ignoring the looks he received in return from his father.
Vasilisa smiled blindingly at him which Orion readily returned feeling incredibly at ease with the young woman despite only just meeting; his magic never felt so calm and at ease before, which just proved that they were indeed a perfect match.
"You may call me Vasilisa or Lisa." Vasilisa said, continuing their conversation they were having before everyone entered the room, only to wince in pain as a sharp bolt of pain shot through her back and down her legs.
"Okay, let's check you over shall we, sweetheart." Melania called, smiling reassuringly to the stressed and pain riddled young woman.
"You can call us Melania and Arcturus as we are family due to your bond with our son. Now, you have quite a severe amount of injuries including deep cuts caused by Dark Curses, severe blood loss, broken bones and nerve damage. We've healed the majority of your injuries while you were in an induced sleep and Arcturus' aunt, Cassiopeia who is a Healer for our family along with two others, created a counter charm to the Dark Curses, so they are now slowly healing. I just need to make sure none have reopened, treat them with Essence of Dittany, and give you some more pain potions, blood replenishers, and nerve regenerator potions." Melania informed, as she worked (after receiving a nod from Vasilisa).
Once the wounds had been cleaned and treated; and covered with bandages soaked in Essence of Dittany and a strong healing potion to aide the healing process; Melania was positive that all of the bones had regrown properly, so she finally removed the splints from Vasilisa's left arm and right leg.
"Here we go, drink these, and I shall get Kreacher to get you some orange juice to wash away the taste." She instructed, passing one potion after another. Without argument and holding in the sigh that wanted to escape, Vasilisa quickly downed the multiple, strong and high dosage potions in quick succession, only a small scrunch of her nose gave away her distaste.
"Thank you." Vasilisa sighed happily, the potions immediately taking effect as she felt the pain and the trembles start to slowly bleed away.
"You're welcome." Melania smiled, writing in a notebook that had been on the left hand side bedside table, marking off her healing process and the potions that she'd taken. "It's for Dorea, Lycoris and Cassiopeia." Melania explained seeing Vasilisa's confusion. "They're the Healers in our family. My mother-in-law Hesper and I know the basics of healing so we can follow the instructions they've given us for your healing but this is so they can make sure everything is healing well and to go into your personal file." Vasilisa nodded her understanding, her eyes dropping every so often as they were getting heavy; a side effect of the war, being tortured, the potions, and going back in time.
"Rest Lisa. You're safe here, I swear it, upon my magic!" Orion swore, kissing the back of her hand as a golden light enveloped him, a sign that Mother Magic was holding him to his promise. Smiling at the nickname already and the oath, Vasilisa felt a little more at ease instead of the fight or flight feeling she had been trying to control and suppress from the moment she woke up, she allowed him and her fierce and overprotective Aunt Yelena to help her get more comfortable on the bed.
"Sleep, Dorogoy." Nikolai ordered, leaning forwards to kiss her forehead tenderly. "YA tebya lyublyu! Your cousins will be so relieved to know you're going to be okay."
"Where are they?" Vasilisa asked tiredly.
"They are in the family room with my older sister, Lucretia and her husband, Ignatius Prewett." Orion informed her softly, smiling at her, he kissed the back of her left hand once more before he stood and took his leave with his parents leaving his soulmate to have a private moment with her aunt and uncle.
"YA tebya lyublyu, lyuBEEmaya." Yelena whispered, kissing Vasilisa's forehead as she brushed her hair, humming the nursery rhyme she and her sister-in-law used to hum to all of their children when they were babies.
"YA tozhe vas lyublyu, tetya Yelena, dyadya Nikolay." Vasilisa replied, her words slurring as she drifted off to sleep.
***
Another week had passed since Vasilisa woke and reunited with her family in the safety of Castle Black. She was slowly recovering much to the delight of not only her family - who had been graciously invited to stay at Castle Black, by not only Melania and Arcturus but also the former Lord and Lady of House Black, Sirius Black II and his wife Hesper Gamp Black. They adored the young Heiress who got on extremely well with not just Orion but Lucretia and her husband Ignatius, Alphard and little Cygnus who was only nine years old and very sweet and adorable.
Alphard had come to see how his best friend and cousin was coping with his soulmate being injured, little Cygnus had wanted to meet their new family member, and as for Lucretia and Ignatius they saw Vasilisa as a little sister. Although Vasilisa was getting annoyed at having to stay in bed despite her cousin's overprotective protests to stay until one of the Black Healers had cleared her.
'My Mistress, please wait until you are fully healed to accomplish all the things you need to. You do not deserve to be in pain anymore.' Thanatos spoke into his Mistress' mind, having felt her rising aggravation.
'Okay, Thanatos, I will do as you ask.' Vasilisa relented with a soft sigh. She just hated staying still and wanted to be healed already. Plus she was anxious about speaking to Theseus Scamander about what happened with Grindelwald. It wasn't exactly lying as not only did everyone else have memories created by Thanatos regarding her and her new mother and father but she did as well, which came in handy as when Grindelwald was caught and questioned his answers would line up with the ones she gave today.
'Everything will be fine I promise, Mistress.' Thanatos promised, just as a knock sounded on her bedroom door.
"Come in." Vasilisa called, once she had felt Death's presence fade from her mind. The door opened to reveal Lucretia and Natalia popping their heads around the door with a beaming smile upon their face. "Good morning, Tia, Nat. Did you sleep alright?" Vasilisa greeted, using the nickname she gave her, a smile on her lips as she stretched as much as she was able to before propping herself up in bed.
"Good morning, Lisa." Lucretia greeted, a smile upon her face as she gazed at her resilient little sister, checking with her eyes to make sure none of the remaining wounds had bled through, which thankfully they hadn't. "I did thank you. How did you sleep?" Once Natalia and Vasilisa had answered they slept okay, Lucretia carried on explaining what was happening that day.
"So you don't reopen any of the remaining wounds, Nat will help you have a nice warm bubble bath before we both help you get ready, as Lord Theseus Scamander Head of the D.M.L.E will be coming over to take your statement now that you're not on such a high dosage that the potions make you so drowsy. Then we will be going to Gringotts so you can claim your Ladyship and get a wand and some clothes. But only if you feel up to the latter two." Lucretia proclaimed, becoming stern towards the end before she showed Lisa the stunning dress she brought in with her.
It was a three-quarter length black satin dress that had a v-neckline, long sleeves and flared out at the hips in a skater-style. After laying the dress at the dresser with a flick of her wand she brought things out of her pockets and enlarged them showing Lisa the black see-through lace court heels, a black satin choker and bag to match and finally obsidian and diamond earrings set into a golden casting.
"They're beautiful, Tia, but are you sure..." Vasilisa trailed off nervously, only to startle when she was pulled into a warm comforting hug.
"Of course. I want to help my little sister." She declared firmly. "Now, let's get you ready so you look even more stunning that my brother's jaw literally hits the floor." Lucretia laughed, helping Vasilisa out of bed as they made their slow procession into the en-suite to get ready for the day.
~
Lucretia's hope had come true. As she - with Natalia - helped her new sister down the grand staircase they found Orion waiting for them only - to her delight as it offered teasing material - for Orion's eyes to widen and his face to slacken in shock and awe. It was all but a moment before his teachings from their parents kicked in but the three young women couldn't help but giggle while Alexsie and Dimitri scowled at the Black Heir.
"You look wonderful, Lisa." Orion complimented, completely stunned.
"Thank you." Vasilisa smiled, a blush upon her cheeks.
"Come Svetlyak." Alexsie called, causing his little sister to glare at him.
"Let's get this statement over with." Dimitri finished for his twin.
"But you do look stunning as always." They complimented together making Vasilisa giggle but on the inside her heart clenched as she was reminded by another set of twins who were just as overprotective of her.
"You had to ruin their moment didn't you. Suka!" Natalia hissed quietly as she walked past with Vasilisa. Rolling her eyes at her elder cousins who were more like older brothers to her, Vasilisa smiled at Orion as he led the way to the sunroom where Theseus Scamander was waiting to take her official statement.
"Heiress Peverell, I know you do-not wish to relive what happened but thank you for agreeing to this." Theseus Scamander said cordially, standing from his seat as Vasilisa entered.
"Lord Scamander." Vasilisa greeted with a nod of her head and a small smile. "I know it is needed to finally catch him."
"Thank you Nat." Vasilisa whispered softly once she was sat in one of the plush comfy armchairs. A tray of biscuits and tea appeared on the coffee table between herself and Theseus. Natalia whispered reassurances to her cousin/sister in Russian before she left them alone.
"I know this will be difficult but what can you tell me about what happened nearly a month ago, on May 2nd 1946?" Theseus asked, thanking her for the tea she passed him and set his quill to record everything. Taking a deep breath Vasilisa closed her eyes as the horror of those memories played behind her eyelids, gathering the courage she was known for; she told him everything she knew.
"My Mama, Papa and I were in hiding for the last few years as we knew Grindelwald was hunting us." Vasilisa started to explain, trying to hold back the memories (both of the Potters and the Peverells deaths) that wanted to surge forward.
"He was after my father's wand which has been passed down our family since the beginning of our line." Theseus held his shock back by the skin of his teeth as he realised what wand the young Heiress was talking about. "My father didn't want to stay in our castle as he said if something were to happen he wanted me to have a home, our ancestral home with our history, and we didn't stay with my uncle on my mother's side as we did not wish to endanger them. We hid in one of our smaller manors under wards and Fidelius Charm but..."
"Take your time." Theseus soothed, knowing how difficult this must be, she may be of age but she was still so young to lose her parents especially the way she had. Vasilisa nodded, wiping away the tears that gathered on her eyelashes with an embroidered handkerchief.
"We were betrayed by my father's dearest friend and Secret Keeper, Pyotr Petrov." Vasilisa revealed anger in her voice and a fire in her eyes that made her eyes glow with her magic that fought hard against her control. "Wizards it seems, much like Muggles, will do anything for power and greed." She spat, taking a deep breath to regain control of herself and her magic. "They broke into our home outnumbering us five-to-one. We duelled them and they tortured us for hours. My father... he tried to give my mother and I time to run....gave my mother his wand to avoid them getting it, and they killed him for it. My mother hid the wand, but when they realised she wasn't going to tell them they turned their wands on me, torturing me.
I begged her not to tell them, but my mother couldn't see me like that. They broke my bones slowly and in the most agonising way they could, used the Torture Curse on me, Cutting Curses and Dark Cutting Curses. After Grindelwald got the information on the hiding place of the Elder Wand he killed my mother. I was so so angry and knew I would die but I couldn't let him have that wand, my mother and father died to protect it, protect the Wizarding World for if he got it only destruction would ensue. I duelled him and I was winning but one of his followers, Vinda Rosier sent the Torture Curse while Pyotr sent a Bone Breaking Curse shattering the bones in my left arm."
"I'm sorry you were winning a duel against Grindelwald?" Theseus asked, shocked.
"Yes. We are very proficient in Duelling, Lord Scamander. In Russia my mother was a Duelling Champion for several years running, and my father was also a Duelling Champion here and in Austria. They taught me everything. The three of us would have sparring sessions all the time from when I was young." Vasilisa revealed, Theseus nodded apologising for interrupting and gestured for her to continue.
"I thought I was going to die. I was losing so much blood until Heir Black's prayer to Mother Magic saved me and brought me here. But I failed. I failed my mother and father." Vasilisa muttered sadly and full of self hate.
"Thank you Heiress Peverell. I know that was exceedingly difficult to relive but I want you to know something." Theseus said firmly, attracting Vasilisa's attention causing her to lift her head staring at him with dull emerald eyes.
"It. Is. Not. Your. Fault!" He enunciated each word clearly and firmly. "You did exceedingly well for someone so young who was not only tortured and injured before your duel but you were outnumbered. Most of my trained and senior Aurors would not have done as well as you did. I promise that the information regarding the wand will not be revealed by myself, it won't be put in any of the records, and nor will it be put into the emergency edition of the Daily Prophet. It'll just stay between us and in this room, I swear upon my magic; so mote it be." Theseus swore, once he had removed all record of the wand in the statement with magic, a golden light enveloped him as Mother Magic accepted his vow and would hold him to it for the eternity of his life.
"Thank you." Vasilisa whispered relieved, the last thing she needed was Dumbledore getting wind of the wand. It was hers and she will get it back. At that moment the doors opened and her aunt and uncle came in and stood beside her resting a hand on each of her shoulders as a sign of support, the magic that had sealed the room having lifted now that the statement was over.
"I promise we will do everything in our power to catch him and bring him to justice. When we do, I will make sure no one gets your wand." Theseus told her as he stood from his seat, smiling softly at the young woman before he turned to her remaining family members.
"I do not mean to offend with what I'm about to say but I myself, have been in a similar situation to your niece, and I would recommend that she see a Mind Healer. Survivors' Guilt can eat you alive."
"Thank you Lord Scamander. We shall speak to the Black family Healers and see who they suggest." Nikolai nodded, shaking hands with the other Lord.

Once Vasilisa had calmed down and taken her potions, she along with her Uncle, Arcturus, Melania and Orion travelled via the Floo Network to Gringotts as Vasilisa still wasn't strong enough to walk through Diagon Alley just yet and after the emotional upheaval of that morning she was feeling very drained. Stepping out of the Floo, Vasilisa noticed they had arrived into an elegant waiting room that was made of white marble with gold patterns interlaced throughout it, bright gleaming tiled flooring, ornate scones on the walls, a large crystal chandelier hung from the middle of the ceiling like in the main foyer, and a dark wooden desk sat in the middle of the room where an elderly goblin was sat working, a plaque in front of him in embossed golden lettering said his name was Gornuk.
Like she was taught, Vasilisa strode elegantly towards the desk with her arm linked through Orion's, earning proud and pleased smiles from the adults.
"Good afternoon, Gornuk, may your gold flow and your enemies tremble at your feet." Vasilisa greeted. "We would like to see Chief Usha, Drax and Sharp-tooth, please." She stated promptly, showing her Heiress ring, while still remaining respectful, knowing goblins hated disrespect and time wasting. Time was money after all.
"Of course Heiress Peverell, if you will all follow me." Gornuk said, climbing down from the podium, quickly leading the way through one of the dark wooden doors on either side of the room and through many twisting, ornate hallways until they came to a stop at a red oak door with a golden plaque upon it, 'Peverell Account Manager: Chief Usha'.
With his gnarled, long clawed hand Gornuk rapt three sharp times upon the door. They waited only a mere moment before they were bid to enter by a rough voice that was of a slightly higher pitch then the goblin in front of them meaning this goblin was a female.
"Heiress Peverell, Heir Black, Lord Ivanov, and Lord and Lady Black to see you, Chief Usha as well as Drax and Sharp-tooth." Gornuk informed the black haired gobliness the moment he had pushed open the door.
"Thank you Gornuk, send for the others." Chief Usha ordered, Gornuk bowed once before he left hurriedly from the room. "I suspect you are here to claim your title, Heiress Peverell." Chief Usha said preemptively, as the witches and wizards sat before the growing desk as two other seats appeared on either side of Chief Usha - no doubt for the other two goblins.
"Yes Chief Usha." Vasilisa agreed. "I would also like to have my ancestral home assessed to see what needs to be done, I am -"
"I will be paying the fee for the assessment and possible rebuilding of Peverell Sanctum Castle." Nikolai interrupted. "Let me do this for you, Svetlyak." He added to his niece, who smiled in thanks and whispered a soft thank you to her uncle. She knew her aunt, uncle and cousins felt guilty for what happened despite having no need to be.
"Very well Lord Ivanov." Drax and Chief Usha replied, jotting it down in their folders. The other two goblins entered while Lisa was talking to Chief Usha.
"I would also like to state that Heir Orion Regulus Black is my soulmate." She added, rolling up her sleeves of her dress to show the initials on her left wrist, Orion following suit and showing his.
"Very well." Chief Usha agreed, reaching into her desk and retrieving a black velvet box with the Peverell crest on the lid which had a Thestral with the Deathly Hallows mark on its chest embossed on the lid.
"If you drop three drops of blood on the crest, the box will open if the Family Magicks accept you." Chief Usha instructed, placing a ceremonial dagger besides the box. Doing as instructed, Vasilisa sliced her pointer finger with the dagger, allowing the required amount of blood to drop on the crest as she vanished the blood from the dagger. Not five seconds passed before a warmth enveloped Vasilisa, feeling like she was in a warm hug or being hugged by her parents, much like it felt when she was being hugged by Sirius. She felt like she was safe, secure, supported and wanted.
As the magic finished accepting her a golden light enveloped her as the shadows darkened around the room due to her powerful Dark Grey core, Death Magic and Necromancy. Slowing the shadows returned to normal as her Core and magic slowly settled down as both her magic and the Family Magicks intertwined, accepted each other and wrapped around her.
"Congratulations Lady Peverell." Chief Usha, accepting the Heiress ring that had been returned to its previous box, before placing the box in the drawer in her desk which would return them to the Family Vault via Goblin magic. Next she pulled out a portfolio in a Hebridean Black scale folder - (donated from a Dragon Reserve) - and placed it on the desk before the new Lady Peverell.
"Here is your portfolio with all of your businesses and investments that your parents and ancestors have collected. We shall owl you the results of our assessment of Peverell Sanctum Castle." Chief Usha informed her. Vasilisa nodded her thanks as she placed the portfolio in her bag.
"Vasilisa and her family will be staying with us at Castle Black." Orion informed the three goblins.
"Very well. May your enemies tremble at your feet." Chief Usha nodded, putting an end to the meeting.
"How're you feeling Lisa?" Melania asked, noticing the pinched complexion of the young woman who was looking rather grey.
"A little sore." Vasilisa revealed quietly, so no one else heard anything but those that were with her.
"We'll head back and go shopping another time." Nikolai decided.
"Would you like to accompany me for a picnic in the garden for lunch and a visit to the animal sanctuary?" Orion asked, befuddled they took the Floo back.
"I'd love that." Vasilisa agreed with a large smile which Orion returned eagerly as they took the Floo back together, looking forward to what their future would bring. And there was one thing Vasilisa was adamant about: no one, not Dumbledore, not Tom, and certainly not Grindelwald would ruin the future. She would make sure that magic wouldn't die even if she had to end all three of them herself.
